1. Describe yourself as a child looking at fashion? It has always been a dream at the back of my mind ever since I started looking into fashion magazines and began to appreciate the unique and beautiful pictures that were created. I consider myself to be an artistic person and I have always been into photography and fine arts, so modelling stems from that passion.
2. Living in the Saudi society that is more secluded compared to the western countries how easy was for you to become a model? Living in Saudi, I could always appreciate the beauty that came with the people and the country itself, so that has been a driving force and an inspiration for me.
3. How do you feel for being the first Saudi runway model on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia? It means a great deal to me; I believe that it comes at a great responsibility. I never planned to be the first Saudi haute couture runway model; however, being given that title means a lot to me and I consider it as step in the right direction for Saudi Arabia.
4. Was your family supportive to your decisions? A lesson my father always taught me can be simplified into these words; “have fun, be good, and do your best; I like to think of this as the balance everyone should have in their lives. My father has always taught me to do what I enjoy, commit myself to doing the best in whatever I do, and that I do what I can to help everyone around me. I have carried this ideal with me in everything I do and it has really shaped how I think as a person. On the other hand, my mom has taught me to always make sure that people around me have my best interest at heart and to be very wise with the people I trust. My mother also raised me to be kind; she is and always will be the kindest and most selfless person I know, and I understand how important to have these qualities in the world we live in. I can not stand the idea that they are human beings around us that don't have what we have for granded.

5. What do local women think of your decision to be a model? Give us the feedback. I have understood and accepted that not everyone is going to agree with what I am doing but, so far, the feedback has been great and overwhelming! I’m very happy to see people have been very accepting and were inspired to follow the path they choose. A great misconception in Saudi is that we are not open-minded, but I truly believe that the younger generation are a great symbol of the future and what is to come for our community. That’s why I think the feedback has been so positive.. I just hope I make them proud and motivated to push their boundaries.
6. Do you think Saudi women have gained some rights? I believe that Saudi women have much to offer in many different aspects of the world. Saudis are very creative people; it's in our blood. Today, we are seeing our talents showcased more on a global level rather just regionally and I think it is very important that different aspects of the Saudi woman is showcased and that they are enabled to do so.
7. You are a university student at the moment. What’s your major? I’m studying Fashion Business Management.
8.
What’s Next?
I am very excited to see what happens in the future and will take everything one step at a time.

Sigrun “She who conquers”
The name Sigrun is one that dates back to Viking times, to one of Odins Valkyries to be specific and means “Victory Rune” or “She who conquers”. The brand is all about embracing the warrior within, cherishing femininity as well as masculinity, embracing the differences of the sexes. The aim of the brand is to make every person wearing it feel empowered and unique. The brand also strives to use materials that are cruelty free, sustainable and natural who decompose ideally at little or no cost to the eco system. Icelandic born designer, author and artist Sigrun Bjork Olafsdottir was born around the summer solstice in 1970. Her bedtime stories didn´t come from Disney fairy tales but were adventures of Norse mythology and tales of trolls, elves and hidden people. Highly tuned with her heritage, culture and customs, she seeks inspiration from the personifications of natural wonders and entangles it with human emotion, history and characteristics. Showing clear signs of a highly fertile imagination, she became a keen craftswoman at an early age. Constantly exploring new materials and methods for creativity as organic, sustainable and recycled materials are a definite favourite of hers.
Sigrun entered the world of fashion via leather craft as she learned to mould and print on leather, creating some head turning hats, bags and other accessories. She hit the catwalks for the first time in 2015 when she collaborated with another designer and in summer 2016, she received a request for a collection of whole looks for a UNESCO heritage site catwalk at a Mythological Art Festival in Denmark. Luckily for Sigrun, her mother who learned sewing and tailoring as a young woman was at hand and Sigrun was put under very intense learning.Arriving in Denmark with her creations, Sigrun made the headlines with her mixture of mythology and fashion and her profile and designs have been under great demand both by artists, performers and the Viking and gaming communities since. Arriving in Denmark with her creations, Sigrun made the headlines with her mixture of mythology and fashion and her profile and designs have been under great demand both by artists, performers and the Viking and gaming communities since.
About the brand Sigrun is a firm believer in “sustainable, cruelty free and natural materials” and strives to put emphasis on materials that do not leave footprints in nature, be it in its making or to decompose of them. This means that she prefers the use of organic materials including animals over the use of “fake” products made out of plastic such as polyester. Every year, she travels to Iceland and other Nordic countries to scout for new materials. She visits local tanners and creators who share her beliefs in “No waste” and who are using both ancient and modern methods of using and preserving old and new natural materials. “If a fish has to die because I am eating it then the best way I can show my gratitude and appreciation is to use as much of the fish in as many ways as possible so that a bare minimum of his being becomes wasted. Make the life count.” Recycling and upcycling is something she loves to do and more often than not, a garment will have a story behind it. This is not only in the form of inspiration, but also with a history of a part of its materials.

The engineering in the creation and design of the food.

14. Has a heightened interest in celebrity chefs and cooking in general being good or bad for the industry in the past decades? No, it’s definitely negative. Because cooking on television is only fiction when you are not tasting. While the chef who cooks on his own cannot escape the judgment of the customers. In this way, there is no meritocracy for chefs who work for many years and are not recognized just because they are not famous.
15. Some critics write before taste. Are you affected by these reviews at all and what is your opinion on food writers? Yes, if they are honest, because some critics are interested if the restaurant owner is in a position to pay them to get good reviews, rather than focusing on the dishes and the state in the kitchen. Only the honest reviews could help chefs and cooks for improving their work. Real reviews are welcomed.

16. An advice to our readers how to enjoy a quality meal. Before one goes to a restaurant-don’t smoke-it could ruin the taste, make sure the restaurant uses fresh products, before starting the meal clean the palate with salad or soup for enjoying the meal better. Buon appettito.

designer David Dixon is an acclaimed Canadian fashion designer across Canada, the United States, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Germany, Hong Kong and Tokyo. He possesses a modernist openness towards emerging design and rejects the notion of radically changing from one fashion trend to another. Dixon's innovative designs have won him a following among the elite communities of film and fashion including; Jann Arden, Pamela Anderson, Meg Ryan, Wendy Crewson, Ashley MacIsaac, Holly Cole, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Kari Matchett, Paul Gross and Kristen Booth. The overriding theme in Dixon's collection is quite elegance. His belief is that women respond first to colour and texture, so when silhouettes are simplified and modern, he can explore with textiles. Whether it's creating signature fabrics or searching the globe for new fabrications, Dixon's clothing combines luxury with the functional and fantasy with sensibility. His new collection called Bubl x David Dixon fashion show opened the Toronto Fashion Week 2019 in partnership with Osteoporosis Canada and in Collaboration with the awardwinning multidisciplinary designer By Carlos Herrera who presented his iconic architectural jewelry on the runway.
A big part of David Dixon* as a designer is to take the invisible and make it visible; that’s exactly what Bubl will do for this largely unseen disease.” Using ordinary bubble wrap – the instantly recognizable symbol for protecting all things fragile – David Dixon fashioned the lightweight plastic material into graceful ruffles on cocktail dresses and one very elegant looking opera coat. He also used blown-up photo prints of bone x-rays as a pattern on trench coats and silk dresses. George Pimentel is regarded as Canada’s most renowned celebrity photographer. From Toronto to Hollywood, he has photographed every A-list star such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Madonna, and Johnny Depp. He regularly attends the most prominent film festivals in the world: Toronto, Cannes, Sundance, Venice and Rome. JIM M Y KHAN R E LE A S E S T HE T H IRD FR O M HIS E P “ T I C H B U T TO N” TIT LE D
“PYAR NAAL NA SAHI” [Lahore, 18th February 2019] After the critical success of the release of his first two singles in December 2018, one of Pakistan’s leading singer and songwriter, Jimmy Khan has released the much awaited third song and video from the album ‘Tich Button’, titled ‘Pyar Naal Na Sahi’.
Indeed, the third track, ‘Pyar Naal Na Sahi’ is one of Jimmy Khan’s most well received and popular folk renditions. An original folk tune by one of Khan’s heroes and one of the greatest lovers of all time, Attaullah Esakhelvi, lovingly known as Lala, ‘Pyar Naal Na Sahi’ celebrates love and devotion to a degree that almost seems more fictitious than anything in the world today. The words are dreamy and evoke a sense of obsessive passion one can have for their loved one. One can’t say it doesn’t exist but it’s definitely hard to find.
“The conviction in Lala’s voice when I first heard this song resonated with me so strongly I sing it at every opportunity I get and is now a recognized number in the bands set. Humbled and honored to have Lala’s blessings for this rendition and very happy to finally put this live version out. Hope you all enjoy this.” said Jimmy Khan on the release of ‘Pyar Naal Na Sahi’.
