• At what age did you start becoming fascinated with fashion? My true dream was a career in fashion, an aspiration that dated from childhood.
• Where do you get your artistic inspiration from? As a creative professional, I know very well that finding inspiration is one of the most challenging things. Travelling is an extremely important part for me of getting inspired. You’d be surprised how much a change in environment can power your inspiration.
• Have you ever felt to push the boundaries of creativity? No.
•
What is your brand philosophy?
My brand philosophy- is a unique collection of key messages and visual identity components (including logos, colors, fonts and imagery) that convey the essence of my company to the marketplace. A strong brand creates a powerful connection between you and your customers, employees and other key stakeholders. Developing a brand is more than just a creative exercise; it’s a discipline involving research and analysis, plus structured management and implementation.
• What skills are important for a fashion designer for a successful career in the industry? High on Creativity and Artistic Skills.
•
How do you measure success?

• Name some celebrities who have worn your clothes. Fashion bloggers: Caspianvogue, Yasssminjay, Saharkhattab
Zaheee22,
• Do you find men and women well-dressed today? Yes, I think man and women dress very stylish.
• How do you stay updated on current trends? Your Network is Your Net Worth: One of the most effective ways of remaining well informed about latest trends in business and economy is to stay connected with right set of people.
• What is your most memorable fashion moment? Good or Bad. Participation in Dubai Fashion week.

• Do you follow some trends for your looks? Yes, because one reason to follow a design trend may be because you’re trying to fit in. It’s the primary reason clients often ask for something “trendy." They want something safe, something that looks familiar and something that won’t provoke or bother anyone. And if that’s the goal, well then follow the trend and do something that looks generic and like everybody else.
• What kind of style you would love to have in your outfits? A remarkable element of Azerbaijani clothes.
•

• What role do you think social media/influencers play in fashion today? In the fashion industry, social media platforms can be used to interact with the consumer, as a means of networking with others in the industry, and as a way of building an online presence. But social media can also influence designers in unique ways that are changing the way many designers create their fashions.

1. Where do you get inspiration from? Inspiration for me is everything. All of my everyday experience and the people around me. Feelings as sorrow, happiness, stress, loss, love, passion, hate, are more than enough to be converted into a piece of jewelry, a poem, a painting. Into everything that can remind me of that moment, that inspired me so that its gone but never forgotten.
2.
What do you like to design?
The most significant artists in Hellas and abroad have chosen my creations for their personal appearances on set or in public. For the past two years my goal is international business. I have recently closed a big deal with a famous name worldwide and the following days this collection will be presented. The basic characteristic that all my designs have is that almost all of them are sharp and edgy. In a way it's as if they incarnate my "good" and "evil" self.
3. What materials do you use in your designs?
4.
27
What is the fashion for you?
For me the aesthetic of jewelry has everything to do with elegance, uniqueness, the implementation of the idea into the object and with the combination of the materials. The consumers aesthetic is defined by fashion and trends that make the creation more "digestible".
5. Colors you choose for the 4 elements of nature. Fire: red rubies and black diamonds Water: green emeralds Air: blue sapphire Earth: white diamonds
Apparels: Wanted Athens
I use different kinds of materials for my creations. Bronze, Photographer: Nadia Kouloura silver, gold, brilliant, sapphire, black diamonds, rubies. Each MUHA/Styling: Kanella Vollari jewel has its own character and the combination of the raw materials is important for its designation. My personal Location: Life Gallery Hotel favorite are platinum and black diamonds.

[Islamabad, 25th November 2019] The Federal Ministry of Law and Justice in collaboration with The European Union Delegation to Pakistan hosted a special event at the President’s Secretariat in Islamabad to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and to launch the #TimeForRealHonour movement. The honourable President of Pakistan His Excellency Dr. Arif Alvi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The #TimeForRealHonour event opened with the National Anthem of Pakistan and the recitation of Holy Quran followed by an introductory note by Barrister Maleeka Ali Bukhari (Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice) and addresses by European Union Ambassador to Pakistan H. E. Mrs Androulla Kaminara and Barrister Dr. Muhammad Farogh Naseem (Federal Minister for Law and Justice). The event then moved to a screening of two short films commissioned for the occasion, directed by two-time Academy Award Winning Director Sharmeen ObaidChinoy, highlighting the existing legislative framework against honour based killings. The event concluded with a panel discussion moderated by Barrister Maleeka Ali Bukhari featuring Foreign Minister and Vice President PTI Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Additional Inspector General of Police, Punjab Mr. Inam Ghani, Advocate and Executive Director of Asma Jahangir Legal Aid Cell Ms. Nida Aly, Lawyer and Founder of Digital Rights Foundation Ms. Nighat Dad, and Ms. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, where they discussed anti-honour killing laws in Pakistan and the administration’s efforts in further implementing and reforming these laws. NYC Jewelry Week 2019 Despina:
A totally different fashion event, don’t you think?
Vassilios: Of course. Jewelry
can change your whole attitude and style; imagine a total black look combined with extravagant jewelry. It takes you from casual to formal.
Despina: NYC Jewelry Week was so stunning that I’m looking forward to joining it also next year. What did you enjoy the most?
Vassilios: Almost everything as the calendar
was full of surprises. There were a couple of displays of vintage jewelry that are a wonderful way to participate in the activities on your own watch. At La Vielle Russie, centrally located on Fifth Avenue and 57th Street, one can check out The Deceptively Modern: Jewelry From the 1940s-1980s. At the Ilias LaLaounis Jewelry Museum, on the Upper Eastside is Rings: 19572019, can see The Legends and Tales from Athens to New York.
Moda Dynastie |
Despina: I really also loved those as history of jewelry seems to be so important. Don’t forget the jewelry that is owned by Royal families all over the world. These pieces are absolutely fantastic.
Vassilios: A know but in this fashion week
the participants had the same reputation. We saw a variety of Royal jewelry. Additional partners for this year include Aaron Faber Gallery, Alex Sepkus, Bard Graduate Center, Brooklyn Metalworks, Catbird, Galerie Noel Guyomarc'h, Gemological Institute of America, Greenwich St. Jewelers, Lulu Frost, Mahnaz Collection, Neue Galerie New York, NEW INC, Pratt Institute, UrbanGlass and Verdura.
Despina:
In one year, NYCJW has become the country’s major jewelry week. Partners who participated in last year’s event are returning, which includes Bergdorf Goodman and new for this edition is a partnership with the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District for exclusive tours and events. Organizers said the partners of this year reflect the event’s mission of promoting design and diversity as well as sustainability and technology.
Despina:
I suggest we should both attend every year from now on.
Vassilios: Absolutely!
I add it to my calendar for next year.

ENTERTAINMENT [Islamabad, 13th December 2019] Gender Based Violence is sadly one of the most widespread and devastating human rights violations in the world - a cause and a consequence of gender inequality. Earlier this November, to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, The Federal Ministry of Law and Justice in collaboration with The European Union Delegation and SOC Films launched 2 films as part of the #TimeForRealHonour campaign to raise awareness highlighting the existing legislative framework against the practice of ‘honour based killings’. In an effort to engage with a wider and more diverse community about the Pakistan Government’s efforts to ensure that honour killing is eradicated from Pakistan, the first film, a Public Service Message [PSA], highlights this deeply sensitive issue: In a nondescript neighbourhood in a town, the father of a young school girl believes his daughter has brought dishonour to his family. Plagued by gossiping locals in his neighbourhood, who tell him the consequences of her actions and how he would be the one bringing shame dishonour to their community, tragedy soon follows when he realises that he got it so badly wrong: The second film is released under SOC Films’ AAGAHI [a public service campaign which aims to educate women about their legal rights in Pakistan]: An estimated 1000 plus women are murdered under the pretext of ‘honour’ in Pakistan every year. Despite stringent legislation, including the existing honour killing law of 2016, the practice still continues. The tenth animated short from SOC Films’ AAGAHI series highlights the legislative laws against ‘honour killing’ according to the constitution of Pakistan, with a step by step guide about the laws and resources available for survivors and families alike. The video includes contact information for various helplines and counseling services and legal support services available to women affected by ‘honour’ crime in Pakistan.

[Karachi, 13th November] Popularly known as ACF Animal Rescue in Pakistan, the Ayesha Chundrigar Foundation is a non-profit organization which started the first-ever animal shelter and sanctuary for street and homeless dogs and cats in Pakistan alongside working donkeys and mules. ACF started a movement for change 6 years ago when there was zero animal welfare in the country.
Ayesha Chundrigar Foundation pioneers Pakistan’s first Dog Leashes made out of Ghost Net!
In 2018, ACF won the WWF Green Innovation Challenge for creating Pakistan’s first handmade dog leashes out of 100% ghost net, ACF partnered with WWF in introducing this innovative project where the foundation funded the project with seed money to engage fishermen to extract wasted ghost net from the oceans that are then crafted into beautiful leashes by engaging the local community women. Talking about the pioneering dog leashes, ACF founder Ayesha Chundrigar said “We have created a product close to our heart. This is also an effort to play our part in improving the environment. Through this project, we are not only helping saving marine animals but also giving pet owners a chance to be eco-friendlier as the dog leash are made out of 100% ghost net.” Ghost nets are plastic nets that inundates our seas across the world; turtles, fish and other marine animals get trapped in it as it’s ghost-like and is not easily visible under water. It's a significant part of plastic contamination that is killing our marine animals in enormous numbers. The ghost net used for the dog leases is handmade by women who have been employed in the impoverished fishing villages that have been trained in braiding the leash by team ACF, helping them become independent and selfsufficient. One leash is made of 0.5kg to 0.75kg of ghost net which is extremely sturdy and strong for dogs of any size or strength. These fishermen are paid Rupees 8000 per dive (2 fishermen=1 dive) to extricate the ghost net. Approximately 2 tons of ghost net can be retrieved in the duration of 1 dive. The fishermen then clean the net and the women have learned to bunch it up together and braid it in order to make the ghost net ropes. One leash takes between 1 to 2 hours to make. The women then line the ropes with scraps of thick cloth such as denim provided by Artistic Fabric and Garment Industries (PVT) Limited before the final adorning of yarn work to make the colorful leashes you see today! The raw material costs Rs.0 other than that the yarn that costs Rupees 200 per yarn roll.
Indeed, registered in Pakistan with the vision of assisting and empowering marginalized and neglected communities within Pakistani society, particularly street and working animals who are on the lowest rung of the ladder of suffering. ACF started the first rescue service and hotline number for people to report cases of abuse, neglect, cruelty, and abandonment.

You have to live through it with a smile on your face”. Mundiya: Rediscovering coy banter between romantic partners from the film Mukhra, 40 years later Ali Sethi and Quratulain Balouch take the stage with the festive Mundiya. Originally titled Mundiya Dupatta Chadd Mera, the song was sung by the iconic Madam Noor Jahan and Nadeem Baig and composed by Wajahat Attre. The lyrics tell the story of two strong-willed characters in a flirtatious back and forth conversation with each other. Enamored by the original, Ali heard something in Quratulain’s voice, a “khanak” (trill) that reminded him of Madam Noor Jehan’s bold, uninhibited, “Mundiyaaaa,” from the original song. What began as a chance studio jam between the artists turned into the genesis of Coke Studio’s Mundiya. The character’s conversation is complemented by the contrasting vocal tones of the two artists at play — Quratulain’s open, uninhibited vocals juxtaposed next to Ali’s more controlled, calculated vocal movements exhibit the ebb and flow of the song. To accentuate the energy between the characters, the song is playful and cheeky, with flamenco elements that create a colorful soundscape.
Coke Studio all set to release Episode Four of Season 12 on 15th November 2019
“Music has enabled me to feel. It has simplified emotions for me. It has helped me understand life.” said Quratulain Balouch.
Aaye Kuch Abr: Answering the call of an artist’s search for personal expression, this season, Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s poetry is incarnated in the voice of Atif Aslam with Aaye Kuch Abr. Originally performed by the Mehdi Hassan Khan, the ghazal speaks of solitude, the sorrow of missing one’s love, and finding personal solace in life’s little pleasures. For Atif, this was a personal undertaking as an artist as he connected to the words, finding beauty in the lyrics and inspiration in Mehdi Hassan’s original. A personal reflection of Faiz’s inner state during his imprisonment in Hyderabad Jail, the song’s poetic depth provides a space for one to find the common humanity in their difficult emotions. A challenge that Atif did not shy from, the singer creates this rendition not with the intention to replicate what Mehdi Hassan accomplished with the piece, but to cherish its beauty and carry its tradition forward into the world. “Before you even touch a piece like this,'' he acknowledges, “you think twice. But the work of legends is not meant to be feared.” With the respect that is due to the artists of bygone eras, Atif Aslam wants to share with today’s generations the artistic wealth and legacy that these artists have brought to the world.

[Karachi, 16th October 2019]: Following the release of its season opener, Wohi Khuda Hai, earlier this month, Coke Studio is all set to release the first episode of Season 12 featuring Dam Mastam by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ram Pam by Zoe Viccaji and Shahab Hussain, and Maahi Diyaan Jhokaan by Barkat Jamal Fakir Troupe. This episode of Coke Studio Season 12 will air on 18th October 2019.
Coke Studio is all set to release the first episode of Season 12 on 18th October 2019
Adding to Season 12’s canvas of hues and elements is Dam Mastam, a song that celebrates Shahbaz Qalandar’s love for Maula Ali. An expression of love and devotion, the song uses the metaphor of being mast, a state of forgetting one’s self in the love of the Divine and His representatives on this Earth. The piece is composed in raag Bhimpalasi, a passionate and tender raag that accentuates the expression of adoration in its poetry. For Javed Ali Khan, who penned the lyrics for the piece in Punjabi and Persian, this is an outpouring of divine inspiration that can only be achieved through complete, unwavering faith. The song expresses a loving dedication to Maula Ali, proclaiming him to be the Lion of God and the King of the Brave. Dam Mastam brings qawwali to the present day, something Khan Sahab considers the core of his message – the artform must continue to live on, to bring peace, love and ultimately Divine Truth to the world today. “As long as a spiritual artist respects their craft, peace prevails. It is wonderful when a singer has a noble cause, when they are spreading a message of love, peace, and brotherhood as presented by our saints, without greed of money or the world. This is the real purpose of qawwali.” said Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

Zoe Viccaji returns to her Coke Studio family this season in Ram Pam, a light-hearted take on love written by Sahir Ali Bagga, in Urdu and Punjabi, that tells the story of a love-struck girl confiding to a wise Baba about the state of her enraptured heart. Joining Zoe on stage is Coke Studio’s very own backing vocalist Shahab Hussain, who lends his voice to the eccentric Baba Bhatti in his first ever performance as a featured artist on the mainstage. As our protagonist confesses her feelings to Baba Jee, he in turn promises to support her in this budding romance and so follows the playful conversation between the characters. For both Shahab and Zoe, this performance displays their ability to cross genres, singing melodies that weave between eastern and pop music accents, all the while maintaining a chemistry that shows the unique, quirky relationship between their characters. Ram Pam invites audiences to experience a fun, easy going soundscape, which reminds one that perhaps love can be fun and, much like the protagonist of the song needs a friendly ear, at the end of the day, we all need our friends in times of angst, excitement and silliness.
“I think people are trying to come back to Eastern music. There’s this thirst to know our roots again, what we originated [from] in this part of the world. That’s what I’m trying to do with new music. I will write something in a Western way because that is what I was brought up with, but my instrumentation [is inspired by] theory of raags and notes. I’ve grown up with Western styles; the idea is to see how I can make that fuse with Eastern. At the end of the day what is music? It is something which is emotionally transporting you. How do you do it? I don’t know if there are any rules, but my mission is to try and find a new way of doing it.” said Zoe Viccaji.
Music gives you goosebumps. Music is something extraordinary, it plays next level games with our mind. We are attracted to it and we are also driven away by it. It has power.” said Shahab Hussain.

A piece of Sufi transcendence, Maahi Diyaan Jhokaan explores the love one feels for its Source. The Seraiki poetry sings of the home one’s Beloved creates in the depths of one’s heart, something that propels the pursuit to meet one’s Love. The speaker constantly yearns for their Beloved and, in doing so, is prepared to bear the scorn of the world around them. For this Union is no ordinary one, this is a journey to the Divine, a journey that requires one to look inwards and sacrifice all the temptations of this world. This message is wrapped in the metaphor of Heer’s unyielding love for Ranjha, a love that was sowed at first sight of her beloved. Told by the Punjabi poet Waris Shah, the saga of Heer and Ranjha describes the tragic separation of the two lovers, their failed attempt to find union in this life, a quest that ultimately leads to their demise. A song of relentless pursuit, Maahi Diyaan Jhokaan is brought to life by the resonant vocals of Barkat Jamal, Hussain Bux Fakir, and Sonu Fakir, creating a chorus of earthy vibrancy.
“Music is nutrition for the soul. Before we even sing the song, we listen to it. We understand it, then we sing it. Since my childhood, this has been my soul’s nutrition. When I sing, my soul finds peace.” said Barkat Jamal.

[Karachi, 13th November 2019]: Coke Studio will be releasing the fourth episode of Season 12 on 15th November 2019, featuring Gulon Main Rang by Ali Sethi with Shahzad Ali and Fazal Abbas, Dhola by Sahir Ali Bagga and Aima Baig, and Hairaan Hua by Sanam Marvi. Gulon Main Rang: Written by Faiz Ahmed Faiz and first sung in the voice of Mehdi Hassan Khan, Gulon Main Rang is a ghazal that shows the magic that is created when poetry joins music. Written in 1954 during his imprisonment in Montgomery Prison, Gulon Main Rang showcases Faiz’s ability to interweave classical idioms of romance and Divine Love with those of revolution and social justice. The poetry implores one’s beloved to return so that colors would return to flowers and springtime would descend on the world. The writer is sad and lovelorn one moment, yearning to hear of their beloved, and optimistic the next, celebrating their own sacrifices in the name of love.
Composed for Mehdi Hassan Khan in Raag Jhinjhoti, the ghazal was first aired on Radio Pakistan and then used in the soundtrack for the film Farangee in 1964. Gulon Main Rang remained an oft-requested part of Khan Sahab’s repertoire till the end of his career and is now being revived on Coke Studio in Ali Sethi’s voice. Coke Studio’s rendition of Gulon Mein Rang stays true to the traditional essence of the ghazal, featuring the harmonium and tabla, while refreshing it with contemporary instruments and accents. For Ali, doing a rendition of this ghazal is a chance for him to evolve as an artist by attempting to learn from the masters of bygone eras. As a student, he hopes that just in the process of attempting this ghazal, in the effort of doing it justice, he will learn and grow as an artist.
“When you express your feelings through your voice and poetry, you are inviting people to recognize their own emotions. Music is a miracle. If you move someone’s heart with music, all differences between you and them are wiped away for a bit.” said Ali Sethi.

[Karachi, 22nd November 2019]: Coke Studio released the fifth episode of Season 12 on 22nd November 2019, featuring Balma by Fariha Parvez, Heeray by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Aima Baig, Daachi Waaliya by Hadiqa Kiani, and Mram Mram by Shamali Afghan. Balma: Fariha Pervez returns to Coke Studio after an extended hiatus with Balma, a thumri that speaks of firaaq, the pain that comes with the absence of one’s balma (lover). A genre of neem-classical music, thumri music revolves around romantic poetry and expresses the many emotions that are felt in the way of love, be it the joy of union or the sorrow of separation. On this Season, Balma’s poetry gives words to a woman’s plight, as she weeps in memory of an absentee beloved, her heart restless to be united with him. Composed in Khamaaj Thaat, the poetry of Balma comes to life in the melodies of Fariha Pervez’s voice in an ambient soundscape that shares the unique feeling of sadness that comes with separation ¬¬¬and estrangement.
“When instruments, played beautifully, come together with poetry, the union is such that it can soothe your soul.” said Fariha Parvez. Heeray: Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan brings the story of Heer and Ranjha to the canvas of Coke Studio this season, with a rendition that represents new avenues both for him, musically, and for the timeless love saga that has come to us through the poetry of Waris Shah. Heer and Ranjha are a metaphor for selfless love that survives in the face of tragedy and the pain that comes from separation. In his epic poem, Waris Shah recounts how, centuries ago, Ranjha and Heer met in Punjab and their love grew in the forest and fields that surround the river Chenab. Faced with society’s ideas of caste and morality, the lovers were torn from each other only to be brought together by fate. Their love was meant to be tragic, even in union – society could not bear to see them together and, ultimately, the two lovers could only be reunited in death. The story of Heer and Ranjha has survived through centuries, recounted in poetry, music and art – a lesson depicting the strength of love. Khan Sahab brings new hues to the tale this season, with a modern rendition of the saga, featuring Aima Baig as the voice of Heer. In retelling the story with contemporary sounds and harmonies, Khan Sahab hopes that the message of Heer and Ranjha’s love will reach the young Heers and Ranjhas of today.

Chal Raha Hoon can be viewed at: Celebrating the rich relationship between music and wedding festivities in our part of the world, Mubarik Mubarik comes to us in the unique hues of the Baloch culture. The lyrics are simple and heartfelt and a mix of two aspects of Balochi poetry and music: haalo and naazek. A song of celebration, the naazek aspect of Mubarik Mubarik praises and celebrates the bride and bridegroom on their wedding day. The song also lives within the haalo genre of Balochi poetry, wherein the word haalo is repeated several times and means ‘come’, inviting listeners to join the festivities. Musically, the song also includes a zahirok, which is the Balochi counterpart of Eastern Classical raags and forms the basis of Balochi music. In Mubarik Mubarik, the sarbaney zahirok has been used, which has been named after the cameleers who used to sing this, as they travelled through hills and mountains, vocalizing notes to match the gait of their camels’ footsteps. The song is a collaboration between Banur’s Band and Atif Aslam, who joins in on the celebration, adding Punjabi lyrics to the song. Singing in the Balochi Kechi dialect, SM Baloch brings his earthy tone and open free-flowing vocals to the track. A result of extensive research and careful thought on the traditions of Balochi music by the minds behind Banur’s Band, the song is an attempt to create something that showcases Baloch culture, while adding contemporary colors to the mix.
Coke Studio all set to release Episode Four of Season 12 on 15th November 2019
Mubarik Mubarik can be viewed at: Presenting the story of mankind’s innate connection to music are Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad with Aadam, a composition by Hazrat Amir Khusrow that has been handed down to them through Sufi tradition. The piece, as presented by the duo, brings together three couplets and two taranas expressing the legacy of music in the Sufi tradition as well as the collective human inheritance. The first couplet narrates the incident of Hazrat Aadam’s creation, as told by Khusrow, presenting music as humankind’s Divine inheritance and an integral part of our story in the Divine Order. It is joined by two other couplets, celebrating the Sufi Chishti Order’s religious practice of using music as a vessel to gain connection with the Divine, and recalling the famed musical gatherings of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. A piece that follows its own ebb and flow, Aadam is presented by Coke Studio with Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad at the helm, leading the rise and fall of this composition as it climbs towards its crescendo.
