Editor’s Message HI MONSTERS, Can you believe we’re almost halfway through the school year!? Only three more weeks and term two ends. Make sure you guys study hard and end the 2015 year with a bang. Study a lot and then you guys can enjoy your long hiatus from school. You can also use this time to sign up for service events, just like how it’s halfway through the school year , you guys should be halfway through your goal amount of service hours. This is also the month you guys should consider applying for member recognition on the district level. You can check cnhkeycub.org for more information. Some suggestions for spending your winter break include creating fanart for the Great Wall of Spirit, applying for member recognition on the district level, doing your intercession work or studying, doing community service events, and most importantly…RELAXING!!! Now without further ado, I leave you guys to the rest of the newsletter. In service and friendship, Eileen Eto

Spotlight monster of the Month: Brian Zhou Now that the weather is finally getting colder, wrapping yourself with a blanket to look like a burrito is perfectly acceptable to keep yourself warm. Remember to watch your health everyone, and stay warm in the cold. The cold, however, probably does not bother the December Member of the Month. Congratulations,

Brian Zhou! Brian is currently a junior and his hobbies include hanging out with friends, reading books, and doing community service. Brian currently has over 60 hours of community service, which is fantastic! Doing community service is important for Brian because it gives him a much needed break from school and homework. Additionally, he enjoys serving the community, and Key Club allows him to do just that. Serving the community with fellow Key Clubbers allow him to have fun at the same time. Brian believes that “the people are what make Key Club so amazing.” In fact, his favorite event was the Healing Arts Festival earlier this year because it was a unique and memorable experience that he was able to do with his best friend. Congratulations on being December Member of the Month, Brian! I appreciate your willingness to serve the community, considering that accumulating over 60 service hours is impressive! Continue doing your best and being a terrific Key Clubber.

Pre Season Holiday Shopping Craft Faire Photo s taken by: Patrice DeLara

“ What I did at the Pre Season Holiday Shopping Craft Faire is that I got to help out at the raffle booth. My favorite part of the event was getting to drink hot chocolate and pulling the winners name’s from the raffle. This event made it special to me because I really enjoy helping people and getting to see them donate to the Elk Grove food closet.” -Vienna Wong Vienna Wong helps combine raffle tickets into a single bag to save space.

Beat the Blerch Run Photo s taken by: Joshua Diaz

“I was at the booth that people went to after they registered, where I handed out their shirts, stickers, temporary tattoos, and headbands. Volunteering for running events is always fun. I liked that I got to hand out their shirt and supplies since it wasn’t a very hard task, and in the end I got to take a shirt and headband too since they had extras. Volunteering at my booth was hectic at first but also pretty fun because you never have nothing to not do (up until the end). I made some new friends while I was there and had some fun as well. They even gave me a free hotdog and water!”- Julia Escudero Julia Escudero helps hand out items to the runners.

“I took care of the runner’s bag and items while they ran and returned it after they were finished. Besides getting a cute shirt, it was fun because I was able to help so many people since there were thousands of people at the event. It was special because I had never seen so many bags in one place and I had to organize all of it but it was a new experience for me.”Crystal La Crystal La returns a bag to their runner after they are finished.

Recycling Sorting Party Photos taken by: Allison Yu

“During the event, the club and I basically sort out recycled bottles and cans from school, crushing, storing, and categorizing them. My favorite part was crushing the cans. Oh, and the donuts, thanks to Cynthia’s mom. What made this event special is seeing all the volunteers who woke up early in the weekend just to help the school and community. This is one of the things that makes Key Club unique.” Patrice DeLara Patrice DeLara helps throw bottle caps into the bag

“At the event, we crushed cans and bottles,, collected bottle e caps we threw on the ground, and found some interesting ‘trash’ in the refreshing morning. My favorite part of the event will always be stomping on cans. Fun fun fun. It’s been a while sine I last did a recycling sorting party so I’m glad to participate again. The event is fun if you are working alone because there are hardworking people around you.” -Crystal Chan Crystal Chan helps crush bottles and put them in a bag.
