Hilltop Elementary Principal Update
HILLTOP Elementary Principal
Another fantastic school year is coming to an end. I’m so proud of how hard the students and staff worked this year to make great strides academically. I’m even more proud of the overwhelming feeling that Hilltop is a place kids want to be. I look forward to planning this summer to keep moving in the right direction when students and families return in August.

As I look back, I think of so many things that make me smile about this year. We got to be together and those are the times we’ll remember. Let’s take a look back at some of our events:
Two things that come to mind are the Jingle Jog and our Field Day. Such a great time spent with families on campus. So many thanks to Mrs. Bickel, Coach Moses, and the rest of our Specials team for planning and working those events. Those are two days everyone in the building jumped in to make a special day of memories for our students. That is what I love the most about Hilltop.
Two other events were our Literacy Night and STEM Night. Mrs. Lindeman and Mrs. Sain were the brains behind Literacy Night. Mrs. Gumbert and Mrs. Johnson took the lead on STEM Night. Both of these were amazing events. And again, everyone on campus jumped in to help in true Hilltop fashion.
We had two Hilltop Fests during the fall and then again in the spring semester. For these events, teachers held open houses in their rooms allowing students to show off some of their classwork. Mrs. Douglas hosted an outstanding art show during the Holiday fest. It was very popular and will return next year. Mrs. Barkley had students show off first semester songs in the fall and led students by teaching parents a dance in the spring.
Mrs. Kennedy hosted two book fairs this year, one during Literacy Night and one during our Spring Fest. Parents pitched in and helped at the book fair and that was very appreciated.
Some other gatherings we had were quarterly awards ceremonies, a Veterans Day Assembly, and holiday/end-of-year class parties where parents could once again come to celebrate those days with us.
PTA had a huge part in the excitement on our campus this year. Fun events included Touch a Truck, the staff being slimed, (Mr. Ball will never forget that!), always treating our teachers, a holiday store, and then a very fun bounce house day in the spring. PTA really went the extra mile in making this a memorable year for our students and our staff also. The things I’m mentioning here are just the tip of the iceberg.
I hope our students enjoy some great family time this summer. Then as summer comes to an end, my hope would be that they miss us and get excited to return and spend their days with us in the fall. As I look back on these memories, I look forward to adding more great memories next year.
It’s a GREAT day on the hill!
