On behalf of the Board of Trustees, staff, and volunteers, welcome to Red Hot 2022. We are excited to gather this evening in celebration of 20 years of igniting creativity through glass and glassmaking.

DEAR FRIENDS,

It is with great excitement that we welcome Tacoma’s own Trenton Quiocho, winner of last year’s People’s Choice Coney Award, as Featured Artist at the Red Hot After Party. With the support of the Hot Shop Team, Trenton will create a work of art to be auctioned off-the-pipe. We extend our thanks to every artist who donated work to tonight’s auction. MOG strives to create opportunities for artists to explore and create, and it is humbling to have so many artists give back in support of those efforts.

Debbie Lenk Walt Riehl Executive Director Chair, Board Of Trustees

As Museum of Glass celebrates its 20th anniversary, we honor our founders: Dale Chihuly, George F. Russell, Jr., and the late Dr. Philip Phibbs. We reflect on the grit and determination it took to bring their vision to fruition, and we consider the impact the Museum has had on Tacoma and on the lives of those who live here.

And finally, thank you all for supporting Museum of Glass. Here’s to a vibrant celebration of glass and glassmaking!

On July 6, 2022, Museum of Glass turned 20 years old, and there is much to celebrate. Since its opening, Museum of Glass has ignited the creativity of more than 2 million visitors and artists. MOG has hosted more than 700 Visiting Artist residencies and launched more than 140 exhibitions, a number of which have traveled to museums across the country, including the Smithsonian. Museum of Glass has fueled the discovery of 200,000 young people through innovative programs such as Kids Design Glass™, Science of Art™, Creating Connections™, and Junior Curator Academy™. Through the Hot Shop Heroes™ glassmaking program, Museum of Glass has contributed to the social and emotional healing of 750 U.S. military members. Museum of Glass believes that a creative community is a healthy place to live and grow. We pledge to continue providing exceptional programming, enriching the lives of people in Tacoma and beyond. We couldn’t be more excited about what the future holds.
