TESTIMONIALS

There are so many reasons a trip to The Beach is a great choice for your next group outing. But don’t take it from us ... check out why other tour and travel planners say Myrtle Beach, South Carolina was a great experience for them:

“I want to thank the Visit Myrtle Beach team so much for a great last minute FAM! It was so organized and packed with useful information for planning great tours to Myrtle Beach. It makes such a difference to see places in person and meet the contact person at each place. Plus our car rides were fun to toss around ideas. I am so excited to start planning. I plan to do a fall tour this year and a spring, fall or holiday tour in the coming year!”

Faith Reese, Garden State Getaways

“As a tour operator specializing in student group tours, I find that Myrtle Beach is the one of the best destinations available for students. A trip to Myrtle Beach is not the typical trip. Most students have described it as ‘laid back’ or ‘relaxing.’ While on other trips to major amusement parks or a major city, the students, while enjoying the experience, are always exhausted at the trip’s end. If you take the time to do your homework, you will find Myrtle Beach is well worth the effort.”

H. L. “Butch” Smith, Action Tours USA, Inc.

“The entire experience was flawless, and it was so enjoyable to be able to be in a beautiful place with endless entertainment. The trip allowed me to make some connections and friendships that I will certainly use moving forward. I can’t wait to have a group come experience Myrtle Beach and show them all the wonderful things the area has to offer.”

“Myrtle Beach continues to be an excellent destination for our tours, combining the best of accommodations, meals and attractions along with fantastic customer service!”

3 QUICK DAY TRIPS FROM The Beach

With 14 unique communities to explore, including hidden gems like Conway, Pawleys Island and Little River, there’s already so much for your group to explore along The Grand Strand. But for those looking for even more adventure than they can fit into 60 miles of beaches, we also offer great proximity to some of the Carolinas’ other most visited cities.

With just a short drive, any of these great Southern gems can serve as a fun day trip while you visit the Myrtle Beach area.

Charleston, S.C.

94 MILES • 2 HOUR DRIVE

A short drive south along U.S. 17 will land you in Charleston. Three hundred years of rich history make Charleston a living monument to both the foundation and evolution of our nation. Hundreds of historic and preserved structures grace the city’s narrow cobblestone streets, lined with picturesque homes. Stroll through formal gardens, enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride, participate in a ghost tour or enjoy the vibrant downtown with top-notch shopping and restaurants.

Florence, S.C.

67 MILES • 1 HOUR, 20 MINUTE DRIVE

Located to the west of The Beach, the Florence region is packed with heritage sites worth the drive.

The S.C. Revolutionary Rivers Trail offers kayaking excursions

into the cypress and tupelo-laden hiding spots of General Francis Marion, nicknamed “The Swamp Fox” by the British who couldn’t keep up with him during the Revolutionary War.

Visitors are in awe of the living artwork at The Pearl Fryar Topiary Garden, designed and maintained by self-taught botanist/artist Pearl Fryar.

Florence downtown offers the new Florence Museum, live performances nearly every evening, and an array of restaurants offering dishes made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.

Wilmington, N.C.

77 MILES • 1 HOUR, 30 MINUTE DRIVE

A short drive north over the North Carolina border will take you to Wilmington and surrounding Cape Fear coastal area.

Some of the port city’s many attractions include museums, historical sites, war memorials, battlefields, and more than 230 blocks of community designated as a National Register Historic District. The USS North Carolina Battleship is also a worthwhile stop, as it’s one of the most historic battleships in the nation.

Downtown you’ll find a revitalized scene of restaurants, breweries, shops and artisan galleries worth exploring.

Wilmington is also one of the nation’s top locations for film and television production and those visiting for the day will certainly enjoy taking a tour of a working film studio while there.

DAY 1

Lowcountry Tours & Lots More Fun to Explore!

Morning

Breakfast at hotel - Enjoy a hearty, complimentary breakfast at your host hotel filled with tasty options like bacon, sausage, eggs and southern treats like biscuits and gravy.

Morning Activity (Choose One)

Take an Eco-Tour - Discover local wildlife with a Myrtle Beach Eco Tour. Explore Murrells Inlet and its beautiful saltwater marsh estuary as your group enjoys the tranquil waters, bird watching and observing the underwater sea life with a naturalist.

There’s also a shelling cruise where you can disembark onto the beach and dune area searching for local treasures and shells.

Huntington Beach State Park

Explore Huntington Beach State Park - This is a great place to ride bikes, walk, swim, and relax on the pristine beaches.

Explore the nature center where you can join a field trip led by staff educators or explore the historic Atalaya castle. You may even be lucky enough to see alligators!

Fishing, boating, bird watching are also fun activities that you can do at Huntington Beach State Park in Murrells Inlet.

Lunch

Enjoy lunch at Murrells Inlet MarshWalk - Some of the area’s finest restaurants are located along the waterfront here and offer everything from burgers and fries to prepared-to-order fresh seafood, wood-fired pizzas, and great steaks. Check out spots like Dead Dog Saloon, Drunken Jack’s or Wicked Tuna for great food here.

Afternoon Activity (Choose One)

Grab a round of mini-golf - We are known as “The Golf Capital of the World” because of its 90+ golf courses and more than 30 miniature golf courses.

Treat your group to a round of putt-putt at Captain Hook’s Mini Golf and enjoy 18 holes of pirate-themed fun and a little healthy competition.

Fly High Above Downtown - The iconic Myrtle Beach SkyWheel is a one-of-a-kind experience that will wow visitors of all ages. Fly high on the nearly 200-foot-tall wheel and get a unique perspective on Myrtle Beach’s oceanfront downtown area.

Dinner

Take in a Dinner Show - What’s better than a great meal at The Beach? A great meal at the beach with exciting live entertainment at one of our dinner shows!

Experience the swashbuckling fun of Pirates Voyage — a show filled with acrobatics, diving, animals and action — or transport back to the days of knights, jousts, and sword fights with a trip to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament.

Evening Activity (Choose One)

Hang out at the hotel - Some of the best moments of a group trip are the ones spent having downtime with your friends and classmates. Enjoy a “quiet” evening at the hotel and bond over board games, grab a late-night snack or just hang out by the pool.

Grab a Sweet Treat - Wind down your day with a trip to a local ice cream parlor or shake shop. Your group is sure to flip for fun concoctions from the many stops on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk or an outrageous milkshake from The Crazy Mason.

DAY 2

Hands-On Learning Meets Pure Fun

Morning

Breakfast at The Beach - Of course, the easiest way to fuel your day is the free breakfast options at your hotel, but if you’re looking to splurge a little, can branch out to one of the area’s many buffets, sure to fill up even the hungriest teens.

Explore The Beach - After breakfast, burn off a little energy with some free time on our sandy shores. Let your group relax, play games and dip their toes in the Atlantic Ocean or create some fun team-building activities to be done oceanfront.

Hands-On Learning Experiences - Dive into educational opportunities for students with a group session at one of The Beach’s top attractions.

Places such as Ripley’s Aquarium, Medieval Times and Wonderworks offer immersive learning experiences, while theaters like Alabama Theatre, The Carolina Opry, Legends in Concert, Broadway Theater and GTS Theatre, also offer performance workshops and technical tours.

Lunch

Lunch at Broadway - Depart for Broadway at the Beach, where students can do lunch on their own or together at one of the restaurants. There are 22 awesome eateries to choose from, but a few that are especially welcoming for student groups include The Hangout, Hard Rock Café and Dave & Busters.

Afternoon Activity (Choose One)

Unique Ways to Learn - There are tons of great things to see at Broadway at the Beach, including a pair of outstanding museums which will transport your students to another world.

Ripley’s Aquarium takes you under the sea with tons of fun and educational opportunities and underwater adventures —plus a brandnew sloth habitat! Wonderworks explores the world of STEM education with tons of interactive exhibits that will wow visitors of all ages.

Enjoy a Show - Also located at Broadway at the Beach are several places to see some of the best entertainment around.

Check out classic musical hits with a trip to Legends in Concert or Broadway Theater, experience mind-boggling magic at Charles Bach Wonders Theatre or take an immersive trip through Springfield at the Simpsons in 4D Theater.

Dinner

Seafood Dinner - No trip to The Beach is complete without trying some fresh-caught coastal seafood. There are tons of great options to enjoy, but a few group-friendly spots we’d recommend include: Giant Crab, Original Benjamins, Seafood World, Lucy Buffett’s LuLu’s North Myrtle Beach and Riptydz Oceanfront Grille & Rooftop Bar.

Evening Activity (Choose One)

Jump around - It’s big fun for all ages when you host a group outing at either Big Air Trampoline Park or Sky Zone Myrtle Beach.

Jump around and get out some of that extra energy, get a little exercise and have an absolute blast in the process as your group bounces, climbs and tumbles its way through a fun morning.

Indoor Family Fun - Wrap up your day with fun for all ages at indoor amusement centers like 810 Billiards & Bowling at The Market Common or Stars & Strikes Family Entertainment Center — an all-new complex at Coastal Grand Mall.

The 52,500-square-foot Stars and Strikes offers bowling, an arcade, a multi-story laser tag arena and axe throwing and more.
