Podcast Album: Learning To Walk Before You Can Run
Track 14 - Learning To Run Stage 11 Brought To You By: MyWeightLossDream.co.uk
Welcome to the fourteenth track in our learning to walk before you can run series of podcasts and thanks for downloading me. Well I don’t mean me, I mean the podcast but I am sure you know what I mean! I hope you don’t mind but we are going to jump straight in with this podcast and to get you moving. Chapter 1 – Introduction To Stage 11 You are now entering the harder stages in learning to walk before you can run. We started off all those stages ago with very light jogging and lots of walking and yet here we are doing more than 10 minutes of straight running. I originally completed this stage back in August when it was super hot and when I didn’t have the energy to do it, but I got out there and did it and now I am sharing with you exactly what I did. Stage 11 Start with a 12 minute jog, followed by a 6 minute power walk and then another 12 minute jog until you have done a complete distance of 5000m. Chapter 2 – Stage 11 Running Diary So as you can see from this stage it is all about a 12 minute run and pushing yourself that tiny little bit further than you did last time. Like I
mentioned above it was back in August (nearly 3 months ago) when I did this and now 12 minutes doesn’t worry me, I can just do it! Thirteenth run = 22nd August 2015 = 5000m = 48 minutes This is my toughest challenge yet, especially because I am doing it by the lane where I live. I can easily do the 3500m because it takes me to the start of a steep hill, but the thought of going beyond that to hit the 5000m is rather scary. Today I decide that today is the day of pushing myself and giving stage 11 a go! What I end up doing is the following: 15 minute jog 25 minute walk 8 minute jog This may not seem a lot but I have never jogged for 15 minutes solo before. I have reached that distance but it has been mixed in with other things and this is just pure running. Towards the end of the 15 minutes we have a big hill to jog up and I actually managed it! The walk in the middle was much longer than what I wanted to achieve but with a 14 year old that is half asleep it turns into a long break!
I also wanted to do 12 minutes today with a few intervals but because I feel like I am beyond this right now I went for those 15 minutes instead. If you feel like me that you can do better than what these stages are then do go for it! This stage is mainly about you managing to jog 21-25 minutes (depending on your pace) in total over your run so if you do this differently then that is fine. What Dominic does now is he jogs 1200m in one direction has a quick rest and gives the dog a treat and then does the same distance home. This now means that he doing 16 minutes of pure running.
