A book marketing plan is a critical component to success as a published author. Yet many authors tend to skimp on taking the time to put one together. For one, they may feel that putting together a marketing plan for their book is time-consuming. Or, they may simply find the process too confusing. In this article, you will learn three reasons why you need a book marketing plan if you plan to succeed as an author. Book marketing is important in crafting a strategy to getting your books in front of the right readers. It is important to know exactly how you plan to get your books read.
2. A book marketing plan will help you get clear on your target audience. Your target audience is out there; and they are just waiting to read your book. Your job is to find that audience, and get in front of them. Putting together a marketing plan will help you to find out just who that target audience is, by causing you to do market research. How to Sell More Books By Ruth Barringham
If you want to make money writing books, then you need to make sure that your book sales go on for years. The question though, is how do you do that? How do you make sure that you can keep on selling copies of your books for years to come? The answer is simple. You need to write more books that your readers want to read. And it doesn't matter if you're writing fiction or non-fiction. The advice I'm going to give you works for both. What you need to do is not just write a book, but write a series of books. That way, once someone has read your book, they can come back for more. The first thing you need to do is plot out your series. Then each book you write has to be a complete book in itself (needs a satisfactory ending or conclusion) plus it needs to keep your readers hungry for more. If you write fiction, then it's easy to write an ongoing saga split into a series of books, just like the Harry Potter novels did. Each one was a book on its own, but at the same time, the story of the three main characters, just kept going and going as different problems arose for them in each consecutive book.
If you write non-fiction, then you need to write a series of books all based on the same topic. For instance, if you want to write about dogs, you could write one big generic book, or you could split it down into more detailed books about dog health, dog training, breeding, looking after a puppy, grooming, showing and so forth.
That way, as your reader's dog grows from puppy to adult, they can keep buying books about how to look after it. And if it's one of your books that they started with, and you've advertised your other books in the back of each one, then chances are good that they'll stick with the same author.
And it's the same with fiction. Once your readers get to know and like your main characters, they'll want to read more about them. Or you could write about different characters but in the same place, like a haunted house that tries to kill people who stay there, or a series of horror books about zombies, or a series of Western novels or romance books. Once you start thinking about it and researching for ideas, you'll be amazed at what you can come up with.
But the important thing is to keep writing, publishing and marketing every book you write.

Of course, you can probably re-purpose the majority of your content (assuming that it is not time-sensitive). However, there is another way to leverage that fabulous content for everyone's benefit. You can turn some of your content into an eBook (or eBooks). After you have taken a good look at the content that you have in your repository, the next thing that you need to do is to choose all of the articles that are connected to each other. They should not all be on the same topic but they should be on related topics. You will want to choose between 20 and 30 articles to build your eBook. Those articles are going to be the chapters in the book. As you have always done with your other content, you will want to put a call-to-action in your eBook so that your readers have a way to reach out to you and interact. The promotion of your eBook will also be done differently from how you would promote a paper book. Of course, everything will be done online and social media is the vehicle that will work the most effectively to get the word out about your book and to create a buzz that will get people talking.
However, it isn't enough for people to just buy your book. You need people to review the eBook as well. Undoubtedly, you don't have total control over what those people write about your book but if you have published a top-quality book that helps other people, there is a good likelihood that the reviews will be positive.
