The Power of Herbs Cooking Event and Farm Tour Join Blue Skys Farm and Sanctuary Herbs from noon to 3 p.m., August 21, for a farm tour, cooking demo, picnic and informative talk about herbs. A rain date is scheduled for August 28. Christina Dedora, owner of Blue Skys, in Cranston, Rhode Island, will give a guided farm tour and talk about growing herbs. Farmer and culinarian, Kendra Doe-Mode, will demonstrate and prepare herby dishes, and herbalist Chelsey Stone will talk about the medicinal benefits of herbs. “Herbs have a lot of nutrients and people don’t really know how to cook with them,” says Dedora. “The reason we’re doing this event is to empower people’s cooking skills using herbs as a source of nutrition.” Attendees will enjoy such dishes as herbed focaccia, vegetables in an herb marinate, a pasta salad and a charcuterie board with herbs incorporated into dried meats. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own picnic blanket and beverages of choice. The event is limited to 40 people. Cost: $50. Location: Blue Skys Farm (part of Urban Edge Farm), 35 Pippin Orchard Rd.,Cranston, RI. For more information and to purchase tickets, call 781-603-4894 or visit Sanctuary Herbs. com.
