Key Clubs District Convention is coming up sooner than you expect. It may seem like we have 4 long months, but remember school started 5 months ago! And that went by so fast. Thinking about all of this district convention and stuff, I remember the time where I fell in love with Key Club and District Convention. My first year I went, the first day, there was a huge sort of party in the lobby. Here they had this sort of competition between the Team Peter Pan and Team Captain Hook. I loved this idea because it was able to bring out this competitive drive in me and allowed me to talk to a lot more people and really open up. My favorite thing at this competition was the blow up race thing, where I was able to bet the vice-president at the time in a game, which I won. This convention lead me to fully appreciating Key Club and I highly encourage our members to go, if possible. Yours in Service,

Chandler Yoon

Editor’s Note

Hello friends! Happy New Year and Happy Spring Semester! I hope everyone had a great winter break to take a break from all your hard work as a student and used the opportunity and holiday spirit to give back to the community. Now that we’re back, we’re charging full speed ahead as we finish up the school year. We will be giving certificates to verify your 20 hours from last semester. Also, check out the meeting dates to ensure your attendance. Ready for a wonderful year! Yours in Service,

Nadia Sahli

Major KEY to Success By Flora Yiakras10, Underclassmen Rep I’m so blessed to say I was a part of the Key Club Committee at Cy-Falls this year! So far, this semester has been such a great opportunity to help the community as well as meeting other people who value and enjoy helping others through the act of volunteering. I volunteered at several different venues with diverse objectives and can honestly say that they all helped me grow in some form or fashion. Some specific volunteer projects would include: The Debate Tournament, Science Olympiad, and the Miracle League. All of these involved people who were very passionate about what they did. The Debate Tournament made me realize that there is a multitude of talented people and that talent has no age limit, Science Olympiad created a new appreciation for science within myself, as well as stimulating my creativity, and the Miracle League proved that anything is possible despite disabilities in some people’s lives. All of these contributed to my personal growth both mentally and physically. All this growth is a direct result from volunteering through Key Club and I’m grateful because I know I will hold these lessons and experiences for the rest of my life. In the wise words of DJ Khaled: This society is often consumed with negative energy- “They don’t want to see you succeed”- which is why being in Key Club is so great because through this organization you’re bringing light to people’s lives.  Volunteering is a “Key to Success” and is a definite way you can improve yourself and grow! “Bless UP!”

Having a full semester under my belt of being a Key Club Officer (Underclassman Representative), I can now share my wisdom and experience to future Key Club officers. My first piece of advice is to get to know the other officers that you’re going to work with! In my case, I got to know some really cool people and they helped me understand what Key Club is all about and its really helpful if you have questions! Secondly, it is extremely important that you know general information about all the volunteer opportunities, because once you’re recognized as an officer, people you may not know will confront you and ask you questions regarding this subject. It’s always best to be prepared!! Finally, make sure you are completing your duty as an officer and just have fun doing things for the community and getting to know others with the similar values as you! 
