President’s Publication

We are very excited to welcome new members into our club. Please help all the new members feel welcome. We are planning on scheduling more socials specifically so that old members can get to know new members in a comfortable setting. DCON is also upon the horizon. I highly encourage anyone who wants to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes in Key Club, meet new people, and experience this supportive environment to attend the District Convention. ***SENIORS, do NOT forget that there are scholarship opportunities at DCON via interview. Please check the pinned post on our Facebook page for a list of all the scholarships and their requirements. Lastly, I hope to see all of you at our next meeting, February 10th. Yours in Service,

Chandler Yoon

Editor’s Note

Hello friends! New member applications have recently been reviewed and we’re excited to welcome so many new members into Cy-Falls Key Club! Although it has only been a month of the new semester, participation in events has been phenomenal! Thank you guys for starting the new semester right: by serving our Home, School, and Community. I hope to see this motivation fill this semester with great experiences! Yours in Service

The Road to DCON! By Kelly Duong11, Treasurer For those of you who don’t fully understand what DCON (district convention) is… it is basically a big Key club event with all of the Key clubs from Texas and Oklahoma. It is a four day event, and is held at the Sheraton hotel in Dallas every year. Key Clubs from the whole district come to show off what they have accomplished during the year and represent their school. The first day, is displaying your service project for everyone to see and a meet and greet with all of the other Key clubs. The second and third day consist of various forums (informational presentations about Key Club)/contests/free time. The third day also includes governors ball (a dance)!!! At the end of each day there is always a big “show” to watch! Every day is like a new adventure. Bring friends; DCON is such a memorable experience and an even more memorable experience if you go with your friends! DCON is honestly a hotel filled with kind and caring people. Everyone there is trying to have a good time and discover a deeper connection to Key club, so really put yourself out there and make new friends! Attend forums that interest you and participate in things you normally would not participate in, such as, contests or Sargent of Arms! Carpe Diem; enjoy what is going on, and do not think about what is going to happen later. DCON will literally flash before your eyes and end before you know it.

Be prepared; bring appropriate clothes because DCON supervisors are very strict on dress code. Pack comfortable clothes, cute clothes, extra clothes, but remember to pack light and only pack things that you will need! Be confident; there is no reason to be shy or afraid. DCON is what you make of it! It is a great experience if you try and make it a great experience. Break out of your shell and talk to others who have the same interests as you (KEY CLUB)! Plan out your day and really make the most of it because there are so many things to do, yet so little time. The most important tip is… to have fun!!! Take a lot of pictures to forever remember the moment. Bond with your club, club sponsors, your division, and district!! This is a chance for everyone to get closer to one another and learn new things about each other. DCON has really opened my heart to Key club and it really made me love service so much more.
