Quote of the Month: “Wherever you turn, you can find someone who needs you. Even if it is a little thing, do something for which there is no pay but the privilege of doing it. Remember, you don’t live in the world all of your own.”

Editor’s Note

Hello Friends!

DCON payments have been finalized. I hope you all are excited for the amazing opportunity to meet Key Clubbers from all over Texas and Oklahoma as well as ready to participate in many different activities that bring our district together. Additionally, with DCON comes the end of the board position terms. The new positions have been announced. Thank you to everyone who interviewed, and congratulations to everyone who has been chosen for a position! It has been such a pleasure to be your president this past year and I am glad to know that the club will be in good hands next year. Yours in Service,

Chandler Yoon

DCON is coming up very, VERYYYYYY quickly!! If you signed up to go, make sure you have completed your payments and know the schedule for April 21st! When packing, don’t forget to bring professional/dressy clothing along with your casual clothing because dress code is extremely important at the convention! Also, we are so happy to announce that our board for next year has been announced! Please congratulate your new officers! Yours in Service

Random Acts of Kindness By Mai Phan12, Labay Builder’s Club Rep I pledge on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International, to build my home school and community, to serve my nation and God, and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions Are you keeping your word to our pledge? Yep, the words said with our right hand up before each and every Key Club meeting. Although it is not required to bring service into our daily lives, random acts of kindness can make any sort of impact no matter how big or small the service is. Random acts of kindness can range from a variety of many diverse actions that can be done anywhere, anytime! Whether it be a helping hand to your parents or a huge or official event to sign up and volunteer at; in spite of being on opposite spectrums considering location, I believe that both equally set an influence to the receiver in a positive aid. Not saying volunteering for events and or places is overrated, but holds just as much importance of the start as stepping stones to change for the better. As for simple actions done out of sincerity without notice is of course not left out of the picture as well! On the point of personal aspects, it is almost a phenomenon to see random acts of kindness on a daily basis in all different kinds of forms and ways. Thinking about someone and letting them know, visiting, listening, smiling, offering help, respect, donations, all fall under having the same significance of service and the list could go on!

Summing up, no matter the size of the account, comparison is never what calls the shots, whether it’s beneficial or not. Unfortunately, some may not perceive service for and from a high school club in this way but instead the thought of rushing on to keep up with their hours to top the requirements or despite being there and purposely not being of any assistance. Key Club is more than just any other service oriented extracurricular activity, as for me, it was the trigger to want to try for our community. It was what made me come to realization that only we can make a change, that it is in our hands and we can make the best of it.
