President’s Publication

I am so happy to see how active our members have been this past month, and I anticipate the same trend continuing throughout the school year. As the holiday season nears, we plan on focusing a lot on service projects. This past meeting, a new service project was announced that all members are able to get non-physical hours from. The project is geared towards supplying essentials to the homeless in our area. No person should go neglected, no matter their condition. We will be accepting donations of jackets, blankets, towels, and pillows for this purpose. Also, we will be starting candy sales sometime near December. This will help members raise money to go to DCON and also serves as a fundraiser.

Editor’s Note

Hello friends! I just wanted to give a HUGE thank you to all the members who have been attending all meetings and consistently participating in events as well as non-physical activities, such as Trick or Treat for UNICEF. YOU are the reason our club is able to make such a great impact on the community. Keep up the great work! Yours in Service,

Thank y’all for making Cy-Falls Key Club great. Yours in Service,

Chandler Yoon

Key Club x PALS By Kelly Lam11, Historian Music was being blasted, and everyone was full of laughter and had smiles across their faces. At the event called “Fiest Elementary Fun Run” located at Cy-Falls High School Track, I stumbled across many kids who showed up with their family wearing flashing, neon clothes and accessories. This event is known as a Family Event where all of the family members of Fiest students run/walk together. Key Clubbers and PALS participated in this event and helped cheer on the families for running/walking the track. Also, some Key Clubbers and PALS helped out at the water station where they handed out cups of water for the participants. Everyone was drenched in sweat, but everyone still managed to keep participating in the run. There was a DJ that kept everyone moving by putting on the oldest and latest hits, such as Gangnam Style, I Can’t Feel My Face, Thriller, Watch Me Whip/Nae Nae, and many more. All the songs that were played caught my attention because I noticed how everyone gladly jumped in and dance to the song. No one was shy about it, and everyone was just busting out their own moves. While I was standing at the tunnel to cheer on the kids, families were walking through the tunnel showing off their moves. This got everyone smiling because the dance moves were super original. At the tunnel, when it came to the song “Watch Me Whip/Nae Nae”, you can see and hear groups of kids with their friends singing along to it. They sang their hearts out along to the song, and I hear them scream, “Now watch me whip! Now watch me nae nae!” Then they all burst into laughter. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen. In order to support the families and kids, Key Club members and the members of PALS worked together as a team to get everyone to continue the run. As I was walking around to go take pictures of kids, I encountered a group of girls who wanted to take pictures. They all handed their phones to me and I asked, “Do I look like an octopus to you? I don’t have all these arms and hands to hold your phones.” They all laughed, and I was glad I was able to make them smile. After I was done taking the pictures for the girls, I came across the volunteers of Key Club and PALS yelling out of thrill and joy.

Thanks to our amazing volunteers, we were able to keep the glow run smooth and successful. I am excited to work with other volunteers who strive to reach the same goal: helping the community.
