President’s Publication
The month October is arriving which brings us closer and closer to our favorite time of the year. At the end of October there is Halloween, in which our club, and probably many others go out and do a “Trick or Treat for UNICEF.” This event really helps and inspires lots of help in the community because they give donations to a good cause instead of candy to our bellies. October is also a great time of the year because everyone has started to become situated with the whole school situation and many events surrounding the holidays are popping up, leaving us, Key Club, to have many events for the members in which they can have tons of fun volunteering. I remember one of my most memorable events last year was around this time. Adam’s Fall Festival, which was held by Adam’s Elementary and they had a sort of fun little celebration festival. All the kids would come out for fun and games, and we would help at the games, setting up, helping at the booths, concession stands, and much more. Adam’s always went above and beyond with these events by having tons of games and even a dance for all the parents so they can enjoy. This is just one of my favorite events and just really shows that many things are coming up with Key Club, tons of events and tons of fun!
Editor’s Note
Hello friends! As our deadline for dues quickly approaches, we have pretty much all new/returning members signed up and ready to serve this school year! It has been such a pleasure to meet some of you guys and see how dedicated you guys have already been with signing up for events! Keep up the great work, y’all! Also, the board and I are super excited to announce, after 3 days of interviewing, we have chosen our new officers for the 2015 – 2016 school year! Thank you to everyone who interviewed! A Hunger to Help By Kevin Nguyen10, Social Officer You want to endeavor in extra-curricular activities to become more involved with your school and community but, cannot even imagine yourself having any time to spare? Well there’s no need to fear because this article has advice here! Life in high school can be stressful which is understandable, between the 8 hours at school, the 8 hours of sleep at night and, not even to mention the amount of time you spend on homework, there is barely any time for you to spend to yourself to even stop and catch a breath! Well don’t worry, you can stop pulling your hair now because, I’m going to share with you what I did and which things have benefitted me the most!
3 things to remember ↴ ○
Have an agenda
Now when I say have an agenda, I don’t mean you absolutely HAVE to go out and buy a planner (which you could because it is totally useful), I mean that you should always have a plan in mind for what you want to get done each day for example, splitting up your homework/project load across a few days (if they aren’t due the next day) so you have less to do. Also have in mind important dates for certain occasions like meetings or club events! ○ Don’t wait until the last minute One of the complete worst things you could do in high school, let alone in life itself, is procrastinate. You should never, and I repeat, NEVER ever wait until the last minute to start your homework, project, or just any assignment in general because you will definitely began to feel the stress of cramming in high school. You will be in such a rush to finish that you won’t be able to produce high quality and grade level appropriate work, resulting in poor grades! Stress isn’t good for you either so procrastinating is a lose - lose situation for you. Don’t do it. ○ Stay focused on what really matters I know in high school there are a lot of distractions around you like worrying about what others think about you and about how you look, situations at home or maybe you’re just thinking about that special someone you have in your life, but listen closely to what I’m about to tell you, none of that stuff will matter in a few years. No one other than yourself can control your time after you graduate from school or what kind of life you lead in the future so don’t let anyone else affect your time at school.
