Political slugfest over airstrike gets bitter

PM calls oppn ‘poster boys of Pak’

Simmering crisis within NPF legislature party

PM sacrificed national interest, not Cong: Antony

DHAR(MP)/DHUBRI (ASSAM), NEW DELHI, MAR 5 (PTI): The political fight over casualty numbers in the IAF strike on a terror camp in Pakistan grew bitter Tuesday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling the opposition “poster boys” of Pakistan and Home Minister Rajnath Singh suggesting that Congress leaders go there to know the number of terrorists killed. As the debate on the extent of fatalities inflicted raged, Singh also said the number of terrorists killed in the air strike by IAF on the training camp of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Balakot on February 26 would be known “today or tomorrow”. Calling the opposition as ‘poster boys’ of Pakistan for seeking proof of IAF’s action, Modi said the air strike happened in the neighbouring country, but “some of those sitting in India were hit by it”. “People world over feel that we have done the right thing by replying to Pulwana terror attack,” he added. Taking a swipe at attempts to cobble up a

‘mahagathbandhan’ (grand alliance) against the BJP, Modi said the opposition leaders are doing ‘mahamilavat’ (high adulteration) in Pakistan’s favour. “These ‘mahamilavati’ persons have become poster boys of Pakistan...They are misleading people of the country and trying to demoralise our armed forces by asking for proofs of the IAF air strike,” Modi told a rally in Dhar in Madhya Pradesh. At another event, Modi said the opposition wants to dislodge him. “They (opposition) want to strike Modi, but I want to strike on terror,” Modi said. “They want to remove this `chowkidar’ but I want to fight poverty,” he added. Modi was speaking after launching a pension scheme for the unorganised sector in Ahmedabad. Charging the opposition with doing politics over the strike, Rajnath Singh claimed that the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO) system had informed about presence of around 300 active mobile phones at the site before the air strike by India.

Officials conduct spot verification of DHD land DMC clarifies on parking fee at NL Road

NEW DELHI/MUMBAI/ PUNE/KOLKATA/LUCKNOW, MAR 5 (PTI): Former defence minister AK Antony on Tuesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of sacrificing national interests and urged him “not to politicise” the armed forces. The Congress leader also accused the prime minister of “ignoring” the report of a committee that had said there were irregularities in the selection of L-1 in the Rafale deal and had called for its withdrawal. At a time when the security forces were still fighting at the borders, the BJP president was giving out operational details of the armed forces action, which was very unfortunate, Antony said. “Don’t politicise the armed forces. Don’t bring the military in the politics. I request the BJP president, I request the prime minister don’t politicise the Army. As a former defence minister, I am telling them,” he told reporters. DIMAPUR, MAR 5 (NPN): With various section of the society expressing dismay over introduction of parking fee system at Nyamo Lotha (NL) Road, Dimapur Municipal Council has issued a clarification on the matter. When contacted, DMC administrator Moa Sangtam categorically stated that the move to impose parking fee was the decision of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and not the DMC. He said the main objective was to ensure more parking space for public and to streamline the ever-growing traffic congestion following haphazard parking. As everyday space for around 30-40 vehicles were taken up by the vehicles belonging to shop owners, who park their vehicles in front of their shops on major arterial roads here, authorities hoped that imposing parking fee would make them reconsider

voluntary and periodic contribution-based pension system meant for unorganised workers with income up to Rs 15,000 per month and eligibility criteria age was between 18 and 40 years. He said the scheme provided a fixed pension of Rs 3,000 after an individual attained 50 years against a monthly contribution of a small and affordable amount during his or her working age. Further, he said after the policy holder’s death (after age of 60 years), the spouse was entitled to receive 50% of the pension as family pension. Khaling explained that another important feature was that if a policy holder had made regular contribution and died due to any cause (before 60 years), his/her spouse would be entitled to join and continue the scheme subsequently by paying regular contribution. convening of the emergency meeting of the legislators. According to sources, some 15 MLAs attended the meeting that went well into the late night at the residence of T.R. Zeliang. According to insiders, the senior legislator probably felt he was being sidelined by the party leader despite his contributions to the party in the recent general election. The legislator is believed to be having the support of a handful of MLAs who would likely follow him in case of any eventuality. this practice. Keeping in mind the ever increasing number of vehicles in the State’s commercial hub, this would result in more parking space for vehicles and also ensure safety of the vehicles, it added. Moa Sangtam further stated that the fee collected from parking will be utilised to maintain NL Road and any citizen could check the amount collected per month and how it has been utilised from the DMC office. It has been hoped that the move would ensure better traffic flow as 30 DMC staff would be deployed everyday to oversee implementation of the latest move and to ensure that people parked their vehicles properly. DMC, however, clarified that no fee would be imposed on vehicles parked less than 10 minutes. The system of levying parking fee is already in place in Kohima for the last few years and no complaint has been received from the public till date, it added.

sources from the NPF party informed that it was purely on personal issue and has got nothing to do with the government. The source opined that the matter would be decided on how the party leader T.R Zeliang deals with it. Also sources ridiculed the rumours spreading in social media stating that “none of them are true”. From 2014 the NPF party witnessed the spectre of legislators taking holiday refuge at Kaziranga resort at least on two occasions and also in luxury hotels in Kohima and Dimapur when the party was wracked by divisions in 2014, 2015, 2016-17. The crisis within the opposition NPF could either spell serious problems for the party if more legislators walk out to cause a split. As per the Anti Defection Law it would require 2/3rd of 26 NPF legislators to cause a split in order to avoid disqualification.
