NASSAU BAY GARDEN CLUB

The Nassau Bay Garden Club extends an invitation to any and all to visit the Club's first meeting of the new fiscal year on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021 at 9:30am in the Nassau Bay City Hall Council Chambers (1800 Space Park Drive, Suite #200). Speakers will be Mayor Bob Warters and City Manager Jason Reynolds, who will discuss the State of the City and all its recent changes. A lot has happened in the last year, and there are many plans for Nassau Bay in the coming year. There will be some time before the business meeting for questions and answers. Please bring a neighbor/friend and plan to go somewhere local for lunch after the meeting. During this hot summer, remember to water your plants frequently, preferably early in the day, and spray nuisance bugs sparingly with dilute dish soap and water [2 drops Dawn to 1 quart water] so as not to harm our pollinators. If you have a shady area, put a few slices of orange, mango, and/or pineapple on a plate for them and another bowl for a drink and/or a bath. Be sure to remove all standing water to keep mosquitoes away. Wear sunscreen and enjoy your summer.

NASSAU BAY AWARDED AA+ BOND RATING

City Council recently approved issuing a certificate of obligation up to $2,425,000 to finance future road improvements, stormwater line repairs, back-up power for the City’s stormwater system, a stormwater SCADA monitoring system, water/sewer lift station generators, replacement EMS ambulance, unified development code update, and park improvements. As part of the process, the City requested a Standard and Poor's (S&P) Global Bond Rating in order to pursue more competitive interest rates on the private market. S&P Global rated the City of Nassau Bay a bond rating of AA+, which is the highest rating a municipality of our size is able to obtain. Some of the key factors in this high rating include a very strong economy, strong management, strong budgetary performance, and very strong liquidity. Thank you to City Staff (especially Finance Director Csilla Ludanyi and Senior Accountant Jaime Vasquez) and Council for their stewardship in this process.
