PENINSULA CLEANUP A GREAT SUCCESS On behalf of Keep Nassau Bay Beautiful and the Clear Creek Environmental Foundation, thank you to the many volunteers who participated in the Peninsula Cleanup event on February 12! With almost 150 volunteers working on foot or from boats and kayaks, this year's event was a true success. This included volunteers from Nassau Bay, League City, Kemah, El Lago, Friendswood, and Houston. Over 60 young people (under the age of 18) participated in the event. The Nassau Bay Public Works Department estimated that a total of 4,000 pounds – or two tons – of debris was collected during the event. This amount included large planks, a bicycle and dozens of full bags of trash. Visit the City's Facebook page to see more event photos: www.facebook.com/nassaubay.

NB GARDEN CLUB TO HOLD BEAUTIFICATION DAY - MARCH 26 The Garden Club of Nassau Bay will hold their Beautification Day on Saturday, March 26 from 8:30AM-11AM at five gardens.

The gardens are located in Swan Lagoon Park, in David Braun Park at the entrance and in the Reflection gardens, in Tranquility Arbor at Howard Ward Park, and at the Circle Garden on Upper Bay Road. Volunteers will meet at the various gardens at 8:30AM to begin planting annuals, perennials and bushes.

“We are very much looking forward to this year’s Beautification Day,” Nassau Bay Garden Club President Becky Kadel said. “If you have a particular garden where you wish to work, you may just show up to that location. If you don’t know

where to go, just look for our members working at one of the above-mentioned gardens.” Kadel said volunteers will need to come prepared with garden equipment such as gloves, a trowel or a spade. Volunteers may also wish to bring kneeling pads.

“Please consider volunteering to make our city beautiful,” Kadel said. “We will be putting in some annuals along with perennials and bushes. If you are a novice to gardening, you might wish to join one of our groups to learn how we garden in this area.” Both adult volunteers, as well as students in need of volunteer hours, are encouraged to contact Kadel at kadel.rebecca@ yahoo.com to register for the event.
