InkTank printers were first introduced by Epson in 2011 and have helped consumers across the home, commercial and office segments to print more by keeping the cost under control. The extremely low cost per print of 7 paise for Black and 18 paise for Colour offered by Epson struck a chord with consumers and Epson has seen sale of InkTank printers in India go up exponentially over the years.

A.B. Dick Document Solutions of West Michigan and H.C. Berger Company Join the Visual Edge Technology Family

In an industry so rooted in service — where customer loyalty runs deep and employees become family — a hands-on dealer principal like Charlie Hiotas wasn’t looking for change with an acquisition partner, but rather an opportunity to secure the future for his customers and employees. For Hiotas, Visual Edge Technology Inc. fit the bill. This week, Visual Edge welcomes Hiotas’ two Michiganbased dealerships — A.B. Dick Document Solutions of West Michigan, located in Grand Rapids, and H.C. Berger Company, in Lansing, MI — to the family as Visual Edge’s 26th office equipment acquisition.“We’re as close to your traditional ‘old school’ dealerships as they come, with long-time customers and loyal employees. It was very important for me to join a company who shares the values I have as an owner and will uphold the commitment I have made to my customers and employees,” says Hiotas.“Visual Edge has a terrific reputation for letting businesses run the way they have always been run,” added Hiotas, who will continue leadership of both companies as president. “A.B. Dick is a small, 25-year-old company, and H.C. Berger has been around forever. I have employees who have been with me for all of it.”With Hiotas at the helm, both A.B. Dick and H.C. Berger will continue to operate at their current locations with their current names. Both dealerships will serve to expand Visual Edge’s existing presence in Michigan, with Brady’s Business Systems of Grand Blanc, acquired earlier this year, and Premier Business Products of Troy, acquired in October 2016.

According to the study, Konica Minolta continues to grow and is successfully balancing core market wins with emerging services and new technology business. More importantly, it appears further along than most with a vision of the office and workplace of the future and has started assembling a set of new product technologies to adapt to evolving digital transformation technologies.Dino Pagliarello, vice president, Product Management and Planning for Konica Minolta, stated, “One of the report’s main takeaways is that print is a people-based relationship business and that a positive sales and/or customer service experience that goes above and beyond expectation is usually a clincher in a new deal or critical for a renewal.”“Konica Minolta is recognized as a leading MFP Provider. When copy/print solutions are needed, this is a vendor with a wide range of hardware offerings that are enhanced by an array of software and services,” says Keith Kmetz, Vice President, Imaging, Printing and Document Solutions at IDC. “More importantly, Konica Minolta appears further along than most with a vision of the office of the future and has started assembling a set of new product technologies

National Photocopier is Jubilant about their Growth in Punjab & Haryana Regions

N

ational Photocopier, founded in 1971 in Panipat and led by its Proprietor, Deepak Narang, is a prominent Distributor of imaging products in the Haryana and Punjab regions. The company is authorized Regional Distributor of Brother printers; and an authorized service provider for Brother and Epson printers. National Photocopier is also authorized regional Distributor for PrintIT imaging consumables. The company has a state-of-the-art warehouse in Panipat to store products safely and supply them in time. Deepak Narang comments, “Most of our customers come from Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh regions, while some customers come from border towns of UP. We maintain good relationships with our customers and our charges are

customer-friendly. We also buy and sell old MFPs and also rent photocopiers. Right now, we have 30 copier machines rented out in the market. We have Print IT black consumables for all the printers. On the color front inkjet is doing well; we have color inkjet consumables for Canon, Brother and Epson printers. Print IT as a vendor has been very supportive and encouraging towards us. In April 2018, the Mumbai-based Print IT is taking nearly 27 distributors from all over India to Phuket, Thailand, on an incentive pleasure trip and we are one of them. We also participate in local imaging exhibitions to promote our products and services. We find GST as a good step by the government as it has streamlined most of the business processes in the market. GST is a first

great step forward in organizing the imaging industry. We are content with our present growth. In future, we want to expand our business further and reach out to more customers.”

JMD Computers Focuses on Providing Good Quality and Right Quantity Imaging Products

J

Mr. Sanjay Narula, Proprietor, JMD Computers

18

MD Computers is a Chandigarh-based distributor for the Q-Cartridge, Print IT and Image King brands of imaging consumables. Led by its Proprietor, Sanjay Narula, JMD offers a product line that includes inkjet inks, toners, toner cartridges, cartridge parts, printer machine parts. The company caters to the needs of customers in Punjab and Haryana regions. Sanjay Narula states, “Imaging market is doing well and the GST has been a good development which has streamlined the business activities across the country. The negative trend in the market is nowadays, people are selling two types of toner cartridges, one type of cartridge contains only 90 gms and the other type contains 120 gms of toner. Naturally, the one that contains 90 gms will be cheaper but it will also give lower yield, and the one that contains 120 gms is costlier. Most customers are not aware of this quantity

and yield difference. They simply go for 90 gms cartridge thinking it is financially beneficial, but they are simply getting misled and cheated. Mostly the newly entered smaller providers are resorting to these unfair practices, deceiving customers, upsetting the MOP (Market Operating Price), messing up the market and hurting the honest players. Even many refillers are following these cheating practices, unfortunately. There is a need to streamline the industry in this regard, educate the customers and the industry players should be compelled in some to make facts transparent to the customers. That will be good for the industry as a whole. From our own business point of view, we are growing at an annual rate of 30%. Our main selling points are good quality and right quantity. We are looking forward to more expansion in our business in future.”

We are expecting a good demand for this high quality and reasonably priced product. It’s a true value for money for the customers.”

UniNet Launches Toner Developers for Use in Ricoh Printers

UniNet has released toner developers for use in Ricoh Aficio SP 3500, 3400/SP 5200, 5210, MFP 5200 S, 5210 SF and SP 6330, 6320, 6310, 6230, 6220, 6210, 6110 and 6100 printers. Developer plays a big role in the printing process as it is part of a dual component system. The two components work handin-hand to provide dark crisp images. Replacing developer in printer/copier cartridges regularly will bring huge benefits to your equipment, as it will guarantee excellent and reliable image printing as well as outstanding performance. Keeping developer new by replacing it at the appropriate recommended yield will help to avoid such issues as background and light prints, and will prevent toner dusting. It will also maintain high density to print darker blacks and crisp images.

TRESU introduces FlexiPrint Reservoir SAVEink Chamber Doctor Blade

TRESU announced the introduction of its FlexiPrint Reservoir SAVEink chamber doctor blade, a light, fast-change inking system for narrow-web UV and water-based flexo applications that can be used without an ink pump. Chambers are air-tight and prevent leakage, thanks to TRESU’s patented seals, and can be installed or removed safely in five s e c o n d s w i t h o u t the risk of spilling ink. To introduce the unit to its mounting, the operator locks it to the anilox roll, and rotates it from a six-o’clock to a nine-o’clock position. Removal reverses the process. Doctor blades are in a pre-set position, and there is no need for further adjustment. The pre-set position ensures optimal anilox contact with minimal wear. An automatic indicator shows when blade replacement is necessary, so time are not wasted on unnecessary checks. The chamber can hold 250ml – 2000ml of ink making it ideal for application of normal and spot colors, as well as high ink transfer printing. Ink may be added manually without stopping the press, giving the system flexibility for long and short-run production.

“German Refilling offers top quality re-manufactured cartridges, refilling & printer repair services”

Mr. Radhakrishnan, Managing Director, German Refilling Pvt. Ltd.

G

erman Refilling (P) Ltd, founded in 2002, is a Chennai-based company offering imaging products and services. The company offers re-manufactured re-usable compatible laser toner cartridges under their brand name Ashtone; re-cycled inkjet cartridges under the brand name Chinktone; cartridge refill under Ashcom; and printer repair services for Laser & inkjet, copiers, scanners & MFD’s under their brand name Pakka Service. Radhakrishnan, Managing Director of German Refilling Pvt Ltd, states, “We remake all our cartridges with once-used OEM shells. After remaking these cartridges, we put our brand seal with date, since we give warranty on these black cartridges. We refill all laser toner and inkjet cartridges with great care and precision. We use the world’s best toner powders, inkjet inks, OPC drums & microchips, etc. The latest trend in the market is, customers are realizing that it is better to buy original or remanufactured black toner cartridges (in OEM shells) which

34

support 10 to 15 refillings; than purchasing cheaper China-type compatible cartridges which are usually fit only for single use. These disposable type compatible cartridges sold in the market are mostly not refillable & are not eco-friendly. They can even disturb the printer mechanism due to flimsy plastics and also print fewer pages. Ashcom German Refilling has 21 refill outlets spread across Chennai, Coimbatore & Kanchipuram with majority located in Chennai (19 outlets). Today, Ashcom has over 20,000 satisfied customers across Tamil Nadu who refill & reuse their printer cartridges regularly from Ashcom. The company uses world class, top quality raw materials and offers products and services at affordable prices. Ashtone toner cartridges and Chinktone inkjet cartridges are remade by using original empties. Ashcom German Refilling uses top quality laser toner powder, multi-life OPC drums, high quality inkjet inks, micro chips that give high page yield; and longer life. “We focus on customer satisfaction and we are thankful to the customers for the confidence & support they have placed on us. All our customers know us by our high standards of quality and our experienced expertise in handling all the cartridges including the new HP Higher end modes like 18A, 30A, etc. with great care and friendly support,” comments Radhakrishnan. Chinese type compatible cartridges are unfit for multi-refilling and reusing and carry no warranty. But Ashtone brand 12A, 88A, 78A, 36A & other HP compatible black laser toner shells can be re-filled and reused for at least 10 times with warranty. Ashcom refills and recycles the cartridges of all major brands like HP, Samsung, Canon, Brother, Ricoh, etc. Original 12A & 88A laser toner cartridges can be refilled & recycled again & again even up to 50 times at Ashcom refill outlets, with warranty. This proves their expertise & experience in the refill business. Talking about color consumables,

Radhakrishnan clarifies, “In color market, inkjet printing is growing fast and we have expert re-fillers with us for color cartridges. We sell excellent quality compatible ink for all Epson ink-Tank printers. We educate the customers on the long-term benefits of using high quality toner powders, OPC drums and inkjet inks to refill their cartridges.” Ashtone brand 12A, 88A, 78A, and 36A remade toner cartridges carry re-fillable & reusable warranty. Chinktone’s Black XL ink-jet cartridges are of excellent quality and are available for all HP models like 802XL, 818XL, 803XL, 21XL, 27XL, 56XL, 901XL and 702XL. These XL black cartridges carry warranty. They have full sponge inside to give high page yield up to 200 pages. A large group of compatible cartridge users in Chennai prefer to buy & use Ashcom’s top quality laser toner powder, multi-life OPC drums, high quality inkjet inks, micro chips that give high page yield and longer life. Ashcom German Refilling offers factory-fresh black & color compatible cartridges at best prices. Ashcom Quality management system is awarded by ISO 9001:2015 Certification. Radhakrishnan adds, “We find the current GST 18% rate a bit high, but otherwise, we see GST as a positive step to streamline markets. We discourage customers using ‘use and throw disposable China-type cartridges’ that cannot be reused, which could damage the printers and also add to landfills. We encourage the customers to buy only the re-usable & refillable laser toner and inkjet cartridges ‘Remade in India’ with warranty. Right now we are expecting a growth rate of 15-20%. In future, we want to establish Ashtone and Chinktone brands of re-usable compatible cartridges strongly in Chennai and other locations in Tamil Nadu and add more refilling outlets to our list of 21.”

Regarding challenges their business is facing, Preet Ahluwalia comments, “One challenge we often face in the market is the bag-packer refillers that go from office-tooffice for refilling cartridges at the customers’ premises to provide refilling at very low rates. But this repeated refilling of cartridges only brings down quality. The challenge is though people are shifting to MPS, there are still several thousands who resort refilling and cheap compatibles who need to be convinced and educated.” Regarding their approach to challenges in the market, how they reach out the end customers and how they educate them, Preet Ahluwalia asserts, “Challenges are part of life in every industry. One of the best ways to deal with challenges is to keep a dedicated team of professionals who can deal effectively with the customer needs, whether it is service or technical training. Our committed team of professionals is our asset that helps do good business and retain customers. We reach out to customers directly through ads, Google ads, recommendations from our existing customers to new customers, word of mouth and so on. We educate people how MPS is better, since OEM cartridges are too costly

and repeated refilling brings down quality.” Regarding his role as Young-Gen entrepreneur in making Indian imaging industry better organized, Preet Ahluwalia reveals, “Every Young-Gen has a very important role to play in the coming years when it comes to organizing the imaging industry. The Young-Gen should focus on quality, less on short-term benefits and more on long-term advantages. We always try to provide quality comparable to OEMs through our MPS solutions to Corporates, MNCs and other customers. Young-Gen should focus more on digital marketing and print media to attract the young buyers, inspiring them to stand for high quality and aim to organize the imaging industry. When and where possible, they should educate the down-line partners and end users on the long-term benefits of aiming at quality rather than quantity.” Talking about future plans, Preet Ahluwalia comments, “In 5 years time, we want to reach a level of providing 60,000 remanufactured cartridges a month as part of our MPS mission. In the last 5 years, our company has been growing at an annual rate of 100%, and we want to maintain this growth. In the next 5 years, we see demand for our MPS solutions growing significantly. We are optimistic about our future.”
