RISO Business Inkjet Printer Delivers Savings

RISO Inc. announces that the company’s ComColor FW5000 inkjet printer is “changing the conversation” about office print strategies.

The addition of an FW5000 printer to an office lineup of toner-based devices allows for a greater flexibility regarding the use of color, without jeopardizing tight operating budgets associated with many offices. Some organizations, both corporate and institutional, have come to see color as a luxury and will often limit the use of color. The RISO FW5000 inkjet printer allows those on a tight office budget to shift monochrome prints into the color arena with minimal impact on the operating budget. The RISO inkjet FW5000 generates color output at a fixed letter-size cpc of 2.5 cents per copy (including ink and service agreement). This is a big benefit to those looking to generate affordable color manuals, calendars, invoices, reports, forms, spreadsheets and various other office jobs destined for the filing cabinet. Long recognized as an industry leader and innovator in high-speed cut sheet inkjet printing, the FW5000 is a low-cost, production color printer that delivers up to 90 letter-size, color pages per minute with duplexing at 45 ppm. The printer is designed to serve the requirements of the business inkjet market segment. ComColor inkjet printers utilize RISO’s patented FORCEJET technology, found exclusively in the RISO inkjet product line. This heatless imaging system requires no fusing during the printing process, along with a straight paper path that enables peak printing without electrostatic build up. Its cold, flat and dry output greatly improves up-time and reduces maintenance costs.

Rajasthan Cartridge Remanufacturers Association (RCRA) to be Launched Soon

R

emanufacturers and refillers in Rajasthan are about to launch a new trade association titled Rajasthan Cartridge Remanufacturers Association (RCRA) in April 2018. The details of office-bearers will be announced in the coming months. One of the leading members of the would-be RCRA, Dayashankar Sharma commented, “The main objectives of RCRA will be to protect the interests of remanufacturers and refillers in Rajasthan; to discourage the low-quality, low-priced Chinese cartridges

8

which are spoiling the market & harming the real interests of the users; to encourage the usage of OEM and high-quality reusable compatible cartridges by the users; and to protect the environment through remanufacturing, recycling and refilling toner and ink cartridges. Today, there are many cheap and spurious cartridges from China that are being dumped into the Indian market which cost only Rs 150 to 200,

but these have to be thrown away after a single use and they are not even fit for refilling. On the other hand, OEM or high quality compatible cartridges can be refilled 20-25 times and also they can be remanufactured. One of the main objectives of RCRA will be educating the endusers on how cheap and low-quality cartridges though less expensive in the beginning will cost more in the long-run; and on how OEM and high quality compatibles, which can be refilled multiple times and remanufactured, can be more beneficial in the long-run besides offering higher page yield and better quality print.”

High GST Rates Making Survival Difficult for Small Players: Business Masters (Shimla)

B

usiness Masters, founded in 1985 in Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) and led by its Proprietor, Anil Kumar Sood, is a prominent dealer of imaging products in HP. Business Masters is also an Exclusive Authorized Distributor for ITDL imaging products for the Himachal Pradesh region. Other brands for which Business Masters provides compatible and OEM printer consumables include Samsung, Canon, Brother, Panasonic, Epson, Printronix, etc. Anil Kumar shares, “We deal both in OEM and compatible imaging products. We 12

also sell compatible consumables of Lipi Data and Alphabet in addition to refilling laser and ink cartridges. After demonetization business has come down as business is done in cash in most small towns like Shimla. As far as GST is concerned, the concept is good but the tax rate is too high (18%). This is a great disadvantage to small dealers like us.

Only big dealers and businessmen can survive under the present tax regime. The present format of GST needs lot of amendments to make it friendly to smaller dealers like us. Earlier we had been growing at an annual rate of 15% but now it has dropped to very low levels. In the current conditions of GST, small business people like us cannot survive, unless the government makes changes on an urgent basis. In future, we want to diversify into other business segments as it has become difficult to do business under the current regime.”

lue Waves Technologies is a Patiala-based provider of imaging consumables. Founded in 2006, today Blue Waves is an Authorized Distributor of ITDL and Q-Cartridge brands for a part of Punjab region. They also have their retail outlet in Patiala. Sanjay Kumar, Proprietor, Blue Waves, comments, “We provide compatible consumables of ITDL and Q-Cartridge which include compatible toner cartridges, powders, cartridge parts, etc. We also sell OEM printer machine parts of several brands. Most of our customers come from Punjab and some from J&K and Haryana. GST has no impact on our business as we have been operating in white since our inception, but demonetization had negative impact last year since in this part of the country most customers deal in cash. On color side, inkjet has been growing fast and color

toner growth has been stagnant.”Talking on market trends and future plans, Sanjay Kumar add, “Nowadays many cheap Chinese products with cheap quality are invading the market and this trend is bringing down margins and bringing down overall quality in the market. Most customers with short-sight often fall victims to these low-quality goods as they do not know that it costs them more in the long-run. Whenever we get opportunity, we try to convince our customers to purchase highquality products, even if they cost a little more. We sell and promote only quality products, no compromise on this front. We are currently growing at an annual rate of 15%. In the near future, we want to add more inkjet-related products and improve our overall growth rate. Currently, we do not have our own brand… maybe in future, we may launch our brand.”

unbranded to the users. Regarding GST, we have been paying all the appropriate taxes since we started our business, long before GST came into force. With GST in force, initially there were some problems, but now we see the businesses operating in white are doing well and

only those businesses operating in black facing trouble. After the new government formed at the centre in 2014, we see a lot of positive effect on our business. We find the new government and also the new GST law as good developments for the business community. We are growing at an annual rate of around 20%. In the coming months, we want to expand our business in Delhi area and also want more people know about our services. We will start our own brand in future.

Lexmark Introduces Pharmacy Order Assistant Solution

Lexmark International Inc. announced Lexmark Pharmacy Order Assistant, a solution that fills the paper-based gaps in pharmacy order workflows, allowing users to process complex, paper-based pharmacy orders from their existing Lexmark smart multi-function printer (MFP) for increased accuracy, speed and safety. “When it comes to processing pharmacy orders, safety, accuracy and efficiency are of utmost importance,” said Marty DeGraff, director, Lexmark Healthcare Solutions. “While many health care organizations use Clinical Provider Order Entry (CPOE) for processing pharmacy orders, some orders are too complex for CPOE and others come in on paper. These orders require manual steps that increase the risk for delays, errors and confusion that can compromise patient safety

26

and compliance. We designed Lexmark Pharmacy Order Assistant to help fill the paper order gap.” Lexmark Pharmacy Order Assistant enables clinicians to effortlessly process the complex, paper orders that fall outside the CPOE system, replacing the standard fax process with one that converts handwritten forms into truly digital files. By leveraging the Lexmark Smart MFP—a device that’s simple to use and familiar to hospital staff—the solution simplifies routing and tracking, and allows the order to be accessible electronically. As a result, the order can be retrieved and reviewed by all required parties, for greater collaboration and increased visibility across the organization. To help ensure patient privacy, Pharmacy Order Assistant uses a closed-loop, controlled process designed to secure sensitive patient information from the beginning. Through digitization, the solution helps prevent document loss and misuse, and helps ensure that only those approved staff are able to access them. The solution can also serve as a back-up to CPOE should that application be down.

The new HP PageWide XL 5100 printers and MFPs joins one of the fastest printer portfolios in the market, based on HP testing, to equip enterprise print rooms, central reprographic departments and reprographic houses for enhanced mid-volume production in both color and monochrome. With more than 5,000 units shipped and 300 million square meters printed since the HP PageWide XL printer launch in 2015, more customers are discovering the value the world class HP PageWide XL printers bring to businesses across the globe. Marvel Computers Plans to Launch Own Brand in 2018 In the last 10 years, Marvel Computers did enough research in Jabalpur and the surrounding areas to understand the needs of the individual customers and needs of the imaging market in general. Mr. Bhupesh Soni, Proprietor, Marvel Computers

tarted in 2002 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Marvel Computers is a provider of compatible imaging products and servicing & repairing for laser and inkjet printers to the corporates. Marvel Computers is also a Regional Distributor of Fomujet brand of imaging products for 12 districts of Madhya Pradesh, including Jabalpur city, which is broadly called Mahakoshal Region. Bhupesh Soni, Proprietor of Marvel Computers, comments, “We procure imaging consumables and printer machine parts from reputed traders from Mumbai and Delhi. Our main focus is on providing quality products and honest deals. Repairing and servicing printers forms an important part of our business operations. In the last 10 years, we did enough research in Jabalpur and the surrounding areas to understand the needs of the individual customers and needs of the imaging market in general.

32

Recently, we acquired a yearly contract for remanufacturing cartridges from a reputed cement manufacturing plant in MP.” Marvel Computers also offers sublimation inks, Splashjet brand inks and does reconditioning of laser toner cartridges for SMEs and corporates, besides refilling toner and ink cartridges for the clients. Bhupesh Soni adds, “In general market for imaging products is growing, but competition is increasing as many new players from IT industry are jumping into imaging products business. On the color front, usage of color inks is growing faster than color toners. Next, one bad think we have observed is that most providers in the market provide packets of laser toners and bottles of inks but when measured carefully we observe that their quantities are often

10-15% less than what they claim on their packages and this is a fraud way of making money. We must do something to eliminate these fake providers; otherwise the market cannot be safe and honest people will find it difficult to survive.” Talking about GST and future plans, Bhupesh Soni concludes, “Initially, we thought GST will have a negative effect on our business and on the market dynamics. But, now we see that GST as a very good move by the government. GST has drastically reduced the fake and without-bill business as now everyone is asking for bill. The implementation of GST has erased the state boundaries for doing business and made it in one country one tax. We want to launch our own brand before the end of this year. Our aim is to provide quality products at promised quantities.”

I advice the young generation always to be innovative and find new and better ways of doing business to improve the industry as a whole. With hard-work & smart-work, and advice from the older generation, the new generation can win the market and win the game. All the important players in the imaging industry and the media like Imaging Solution magazine should work with young generation to formulate guidelines as to how to work according to a code-of-conduct, instead of each industry member acting his own way. The young generation, both providers and users, should concentrate more on quality and less on price. The industry players should focus on doing ethical business and shed and discourage unethical business practices. We also need some mature and strong imaging industry associations which will work objectively to bring in certain order and organize the Indian imaging industry which still remains unorganized.” Regarding their future plans, Sanyam Gupta concludes, “Currently, we are growing at an average annual rate of 20%. In future, we want to trade in higher quantities and make a mark in the industry as a brand and expand our business further in the next 5 years. We also want to export to other countries. Right now we are exporting imaging products of our brand and also bulk to Nepal and Bhutan on a smaller scale. In future, we want to increase exports.”

Product development strategy of Ecoflex includes monitoring the production process through a series of stages to meet the specifications of a particular customer’s design needs.
