Linking music and politics, his songs Who Wants To Be A Policeman? and Where The Motherland Begins keep people coming back for more. Underground stars from Moscow are headed to Kyiv in the hopes that they might impress the capital’s nightlife enthusiasts. Aren’t familiar with the talent in Russia? Let us enlighten you. Zheltaya Vetka (Yellow Branch) was set up seven years ago as an amateur project. Mingling rappers of all backgrounds, they wrote tracks in their bedrooms before releasing a debut album that stirred everyone who heard it. Their fellow hip-hoppers, Polymyahkiye (Half Soft), got through the tough times only to have their spark recently kindled. Throwing a light on the music of the Moscow underground, expect a good production (we can’t vouch for the hash) all round. Admission is 80 – 100hrv. For more information call 417-3233.

HONCHAR MUSEUM The Renaissance Production Centre invited children young and old out on 10 December for the first ever Ball of Princes. There was even a king and queen in attendance bestowing their blessings and wishing everyone their own happily ever after. A prince looking for his Cinderella

FILM UA Although the Chamber has established a tradition of taking members and their families out to the movies, they changed the scenario just a little bit on 17 December and invited everyone out to a film studio where they actually make the movies! Professional filmmakers talked about their job and pulled back the curtains on the whole process. Everyone felt like a star on set, which was made even sweeter with the arrival of Santa!

EBA and the Kids

KINOPALATS Not unlike other groups in the city, the EBA conducted a charitable two-day event on 10 and 11 December taking more than 700 children on a trip through a fairytale. Cartoon characters and teachers from ABCÂ and Vynahidnyk schools assisted the youngsters in creating their own Christmas decorations, playing robot football, building models and lots of face-painting. No Christmas party is ever complete without a visit from the big guy, who sent everyone on a treasure hunt in search of gifts he dropped on his way!

ONTOARTE GALERIA The world is in a constant state of flux, and the landscapes captivating us just a few years ago are already quite different from those we know today. Trying to catch up with time, Anatoliy Kryvolap, Oleh Tistol and Antonio Menegetti used the artistic tools before them to depict the landscapes of the 21st century. Attracting the attention of many philosophic spectators, their exhibition opened on 21 December. The opportunity to witness this everchanging world is yours as well, but only until the end of January.

The Year of the Dragon doesn’t seem so scary anymore!
