H Bάσω Τρίγκα, στην 14η ατομική της έκθεση στην Αθήνα, εξερευνεί

οάσεις πάνω στον καμβά και στον πηλό. Η καλλιτέχνης δημιουργεί εικόνες

που δρουν θεραπευτικά για το σύγχρονο άνθρωπο, με κεντρικό στοιχείο τη

φύση, τον πλούτο των χρωμάτων και των οργανισμών που συναντάει όταν περικλύεται από αυτήν. Οάσεις, πηγές ζωής, αναβλύζουν μέσα από άγονες εκτάσεις, σαν εκπλήξεις που αφυπνίζουν και τροφοδοτούν.

Ένα συνεχές παιχνίδι προκαλεί την οπτική του θεατή. Η αποτύπωση της

εικόνας ως κάτοψη φανερώνει καινούργιες συνειδητοποιήσεις στη θέαση

του έργου. Μια ματιά από απόσταση είναι συχνά μαγική και αποκαλυπτική.

Επανατοποθετεί στη σκέψη την ρεαλιστική υπόσταση των πραγμάτων και το μεγέθος του ίδιου του θεατή σε σχέση με το φυσικό του περιβάλλον, την αδάμαστη φύση.

Η οπτική της ζωγράφου προσαρμόζεται σε διάφορες κλίμακες, εστιάζοντας πότε στις λεπτομέρειες και πότε στο όλον. Στο κύτταρο, το μικρότερο

δομικό συστατικό της έμβιας ύλης, ως σε άλλη όαση, φύονται και πλέουν

οργανισμοί. Εκεί κρύβονται συστάδες από αχόρταγα φυτά που στέκονται ακίνητα, υπομονετικά και φωτοσυνθέτουν.

Τα χρώματα εμφανίζονται με ιδιαίτερη ορμή, ντύνοντας τις φόρμες των

κεραμικών με την ίδια ένταση και αποφασιστικότητα που κατακλύζουν τα

έργα στον καμβά. Οι αντιθέσεις μεταξύ των γόνιμων και άγονων εκτάσεων, ανάμεσα στο φως και στο σκοτάδι, προσδίδουν βάθος και ποικιλομορφία εξάπτοντας επιπλέον τη φαντασία.

Με τις ιδιαίτερες φόρμες τους, τα κεραμικά αντικείμενα ξυπνούν παραπάνω

από μία αισθήσεις. Συχνά η τοποθέτηση των χρωμάτων μεταλλάσσει την αντίληψη της αρχικής φόρμας τους. Η Βάσω Τρίγκα αντιλαμβάνεται πως ο

ρόλος του κεραμικού είναι και διακοσμητικός, όμως η ίδια στοχεύει κυρίως

στην χρηστικότητα ενός τέτοιου έργου.

Τα ζωγραφικά και κεραμικά της έργα φαίνεται να παίρνουν μορφή οργανική, ανασύροντας πληροφορία και χρώμα από το πλήθος των εικόνων που συνθέτει το ασυνείδητο. Όπως δηλώνει η ίδια, «η επιλογή

αλληλεπίδρασης χρώματος και σχεδιαστικής σύνθεσης, στον καμβά ή στον

πηλό, δημιουργεί μία μοναδική χημεία που δρα έξοχα, αποφασιστικά, χωρίς να εξηγείται με τη λογική».

Oasis Revealed

In her 14th solo show, Vasso Triga explores oases on canvas and clay. Her imagery is stimulating, with healing qualities to the viewer, focusing on nature, and the wealth of colours and organisms she encounters when enveloped by it. Oases, springs of life, emerge in the vast areas of barren desert-land, like sudden wake-up calls and vital instances of nourishment.

Constant adjustments in scale and perspective provoke the viewer. The use of top (plan) view may reveal a new understanding of a subject. Viewing something from a distance often renders it magical and eyeopening. It probes one to consider their very existence in relation to the wider natural environment, the untamed nature.

The artist’s viewpoint adjusts effortlessly to varying scales, at times zooming in on microscopic details or zooming out to capture the entirety of an ensemble. Within a cell, the smallest structural and functional unit of an organism, elements sprout and float. Meanwhile, clusters of voracious plants rest in an oasis, patiently photosynthesising in absolute stillness.

Colours announce their presence assuredly, dressing the ceramic forms with the same dynamism and decisiveness with which they flood the canvas. The contrast between fertile and barren grounds, between sunlight and shadows, offers depth and heterogeneity, tickling the imagination.

In their unique formal presence, ceramic objects may awaken more than one sense. The application of colour onto their porous surface can significantly alter the initial perception of their initial form. Vasso Triga acknowledges that although the role of a ceramic object is often decorative, she always aims in rendering such works functional.

The entire body of work seems to be taking shape organically, pulling information, ideas, and colours from the vast collection of imagery composed by the subconscious. The artist notes that “the choice of colours in conjunction with design composition, be it on canvas or on clay, gives birth to a special chemistry which acts beautifully, decisively, without any grounding on logic”.

Water is vital and life-giving. It threads blue hues into the oasis. All around it, on nourishing soil, nature thrives.

Στα πρόσφατα έργα της, η καλλιτέχνης φαίνεται να επαναφέρει συχνά ζητήματα όπως η αίσθηση του χώρου, η απόσταση, και η εγγύτητα. Με τη χρήση αντιθέσεων, φωτεινών και μουντών

τόνων, η ζωγράφος επισημαίνει την όαση σαν μία έκπληξη

και σαν κάτι που αξίζει να εξερευνηθεί. Στις συνθέσεις που την

παρουσιάζουν από απόσταση, ο θεατής μοιάζει να ύπταται. Τα

μεμονωμένα και κάποτε ευδιάκριτα αντικείμενα μετατρέπονται σε μικροσκοπικά στίγματα. Έτσι, ο καθένας κατορθώνει να βγάλει διαφορετικού είδους συμπεράσματα συγκριτικά με μια θέαση από κοντά και επι μέρους.

Oasis

The perception of space, distance, and proximity are recurring themes in the artist’s recent works. With the use of light next to darker tones, the painter highlights the surprising existence of an oasis as something worth observing. When land is viewed from afar, the viewer appears to be in flight. Individual objects turn into speckles. One is able to draw very different conclusions compared to standing close-up, viewing merely a part of the wider picture.

Καμπύλογραμμα σχήματα, κυστίδια, μιτοχόνδρια και κενοτόπια πλέουν

χρωματιστά και ανέμελα στο κυτταρόπλασμα. Η όαση εμφανίζεται με

μορφή που παραπέμπει σε εκείνη του κυττάρου, ωθώντας τους θεατές

να αναλογιστούν τι μορφές μπορεί να πάρει μια όαση για τους ίδιους.

Cell

Colourful curvy cell organelles, mitochondria, lysosomes, ribosomes, and peroxisomes, float gleefully on the liquid cytoplasm. The oasis at times appears to resemble a cell, urging the viewer to reflect on the meaning they would choose to cast onto it.

Αχόρταγα

Τα σαρκοβόρα φυτά μας υπενθυμίζουν ότι η χλωρίδα δύναται να

εκδικηθεί τον άνθρωπο που την κακομεταχειρίζεται. Τα φυτά αυτά

μοιάζουν εντυπωσιακά και ιδιαίτερα, ενώ συχνά κουβαλούν πάνω

τους διαφορετικές μορφές ζωής. Αποτελούν στέγη για βάτραχους,

έντομα και βακτήρια. Είναι φιλόξενα και ακατάδεκτα ταυτόχρονα.

Peckish

Carnivorous plants remind us that the flora could bite back. These plants are uniquely beautiful and carry different types of life ιn them. They provide habitats to frogs, insects, and bacteria. They are equal part welcoming and hostile.

Φωτεινές ταπισερί από χορτάρι και χώμα, από βασταγερά κοτσάνια, φύλλα και πέταλα, αναπαύονται μέση στην όαση. Τα σκιάχτρα εκεί, επιβλητικά και απαραίτητα, σηματοδοτούν την ανθρώπινη παρουσία, σαν αναλογικό ολόγραμμα που προστατεύει την σοδειά.

Scarecrows

Brilliant tapestries of grass and soil, of sturdy stems, of leaves and petals, are resting in the oasis. Scarecrows signify the human absent presence, like analog holograms protective of the crops.

Lapis Lazuli comes under the category of Metamorphic rock. It’s composition is mainly lazurite with calcite, sodalite, and pyrite.

It was popular with artists who ground it down for its pigment. It is known for bringing wisdom and self-expression.

The beautiful blue stone was one of the highest regarded gems in Egypt. It came from the oldest mines in the world and was given to those of great prestige. Michelangelo ground it down to blue pigment powder to make a striking shade of blue that we can see to this every day when turning our eyes heavenward when walking through the Sistine Chapel.

Η Βάσω Τρίγκα είναι Eλληνίδα σύγχρονη ζωγράφος.

Το έργο της χαρακτηρίζεται από συνθέσεις εξπρεσσιονιστικές και αποφασιστικές στον καμβά και τον πηλό, με κεντρικό τους στοιχείο τη

φύση και την άνθρωπινη παρουσία μέσα σε αυτή.

Είναι πτυχιούχος του νομικού τμήματος του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών

και από το 1996 έως το 2003 παρακολούθησε

ελεύθερες σπουδές

ζωγραφικής (σχέδιο, σύνθεση, μεικτές τεχνικές). Από το 1996 άρχισε να

εκθέτει την δουλειά της σε ομαδικές εκθέσεις και αργότερα σε ατομικές.

Σήμερα εργάζεται στην Αθήνα και στο Λουξεμβούργο όπου διαμένει.

Έργα της βρίσκονται σε ιδιωτικές συλλογές στην Ελλάδα, στο Λουξεμβούργο, στη Γαλλία και στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες Αμερικής.

Vasso Triga is a Greek contemporary artist.

Her body of work on canvas and on clay is expressionistic and bold, often bringing nature and human presence to the forefront.

She studied law at the University of Athens and took part in fine art seminars, between 1996 and 2003, focusing on free-hand drawing and painting, composition, and mixed media. In 1996, she started exhibiting her work in group exhibitions.

Her first solo exhibition took place in Athens in 2003. Currently, Vasso Triga lives and works in Luxembourg and Athens. Works by the artist are part of various private collections in Greece, Luxembourg, France, and the United States.

2014 ”Art Project 35x35 Book ”, Copelouzos Family Art Museum, Αθήνα

2018 Το αρχιτεκτονικό γραφειο De-Ar Architects, στα πλαίσια της ανακαίνισης του παραλιακού ξενοδοχείου 5 αστερων Negroponte Resort Eretria, εφαρμοσε το έργο Βυθός - Κατάδυση (Λάδι σε καμβά, 50x70cm) τυπώνοντας το σε ταπετσαρία, η οποία εφαρμόστηκε σε όλο την επιφανεια της πλάτης του beach bar (12μ μηκος χ 2,60μ. υψος), που βρίσκεται κατα μέτωπο στη θάλασσα, ως αντικατοπτρισμός της θάλασσας, που μεταφέρει ενα κομμάτι της στο εσωτερικό του ξενοδοχείου, αποδίδοντας μια αίσθηση καλοκαιρινής γαλήνης.

2018 As part of the refurbishment of a coastal five-star hotel Negreponte Resort Eretria, De-Ar Architects implemented Sea Bed - Diving (Oil on canvas, 50x70cm) in wallpaper format onto the entire stretch of the hotel’s beach bar (12m wide x 2.60m high) which is located opposite to the seashore. The work acts as the reflection of the sea, which offers a sense of serenity to this section of the hotel.
