ICMA for Magazines. The ICMA has four categories. This booklet is about the category for magazines. Information on the other categories of the ICMA can be found here: www.icma-award.com
Why should I take part in this competition? In the magazine “Page” there was the following quote from a designer about this: “We have been in agreement for some years that there is no cheaper advertising than participation in design competitions. How much more would we have to spend without this simple method in order to attract attention! And what’s nicer than the accolade of colleagues?” The objective of the comeptition: Exchange of creative ideas. There are competitions in a lot of countries on corporate media, books, corporate design and magazine design, which take place in separated competitions. The ICMA aims to support the exchange of ideas at the international platform. This is why the call for entries is send to more than 9000 designers, custom media specialists, book publishers and magazines worldwide. Further objectives of the competition: Disclosing trends: The results of the competition give everyone the opportunity to classify his or her object in international comparison, and to quickly execute optimisation measures for his or her own product. Impact outwardly: Winners report intensively on the Awards they have won, on their websites and in print media. They thus underscore their standards of quality and at the same time get involved in their own advertising. Think tank: Publication of the winners in the ICMA‘s Almanac and on www.icma-award.com promote their own creativity. INTERNATIONAL EDITORIAL- DESIGN & RESEARCH FORUM MARKETING WITH THE ICMA
The ICMA is also to be a marketing instrument for prize winners. Here you see examples of how winners report on the Awards they have won on their websites and in print media. Trade and specialist media also report on these results. It is always good to throw a positive light on one‘s work both for customers as well as the public at large.
“Migros Magazin”, Switzerland, received two Awards: For the special issue on the subject of “Neighbours” and the dossier “Islam”.
“Schöner Wohnen”, a high-circulation magazine from the publishers Gruner + Jahr, reports on the Award at the 6th ICMA.
”Harper‘s Bazaar Singapore“ reports on the Awards the magazine won at the 6th ICMA.
Students of the Werbe Design Akademie (Advertising Design Academy) Innsbruck are pleased about the Award for their magazine “shortcut”.
In its printed edition, the editors of “Musikfreunde” (Music Friends), Vienna, report on the Awards of Excellence this magazine has won on an entire page.
Synsation Brand Design, Australia, reports on the Awards for the Visual Identity of the Faculty for Arts & Social Sciences of UNSW (University of South Australia).
The Detmold School for Architecture and Interior Design reports on the Award for their magazine “52 Grad”.

Ask for an invoice under this e-mail address: mail@icma-award.com In the category for magazines, the entry fee is Euro 160 per publication. For books it is Euro 80, for Logos Euro 40. To write the invoice, we need the number of submissions and the precise address of your company. When in doubt, simply ask your accounting department for the right address. For companies within the European Union: We need the Value Added Tax ID of your company (VAT Registration Number), because this number must be stated in each invoice.
2. After requesting an invoice, you will receive it by e-mail, usually within 24 hours. Make the payment within 14 days on the account mentioned in the invoice. Payment can also be made with Paypal or credit card via the website www.icma-award.com.
The entry form for each publication participating must be enclosed, completed in each instance. You can find it on the last page of this brochure. This form can also be downloaded: www.icma-award.com It can be completed on the screen.
5. 3. Print categories: We need the printed publication and Pdfs. Please enclose for your entry a CD-Rom, DVD or a USB stick with the Pdfs of the publication in normal resolution with cropmarks and laid out as spreads (double pages). The magazine “nüyou” appearing in Singapore has taken “red hot” as the title topic of this issue. The photo on this two-page spread on the subject of health works very well as visualisation. The text blocks are divided up with interlines. Between the columns are two pastel-shaded circles containing little additions to the topic. The white space is well distributed.

The photo-reportage entitled “Dann brauen wir unser Bier eben selbst” (“Right, then we’ll brew our own beer”) shown here comes over as very authentic. The choice of photos, image sizes and picture editing are well done.
Savour, July/August 2016 SPH Magazines Pte Ltd Singapore, SG Bronze Award
This issue of the magazine „Savour“ is devoted to the topic of Asia. On the cover page it says, “Fresh and piquant flavours to perk up your meals”. Especially impressive for its simplicity is the page with the tart bases on it. The title “State of the tart” is simply inserted in the bases. The page with the cushion on it refers to a New Zealand operator of luxury retirement homes. The price is embroidered.
The two-page spread with the electrical flex on it refers to a Chinese company group, Techtronic Industries. This company, for example, manufactures vacuum cleaners of the brands Dirt Devil and Hoover. The flex mimics the share price performance.
