In 2007, Rupert Murdoch laid down the challenge for News Limited and its associated global businesses to become carbon neutral by 2010. The challenge was to create a brand that would materially help drive employee, supplier and public action on climate change. One Degree has been developed on a simple premise: that if everyone were to change their behavior by just one degree, we can change the future of the planet. The logo combines both the number and the degree symbol, which together represent a person. In doing so, it neatly encapsulates the real impact that an individual can start to make in addressing climate change.

This logo is an artwork for a japanese music label. Just because western language sounds very cool to japanese, a german name was chosen for the label. Apart from its german sound, the name should be also easy to pronounce. The word “Super” is often used
german because of the “kr” syllable. The logo let people think of an industrial product - a super glue from Germany. So it shows an elephant hanging headfirst on the logo name.

Pumpkinfish
The logo for Pumpkinfish, an upscale design and multimedia studio, needed to be as fresh and individual as the company’s name. A geometrically simplified pumpkin and crossed fish were combined in a way that echoes the classic “Jolly Roger”. The mark was purposefully intended to be approachable—almost friendly, yet still feel at home in corporate applications. Its combination of simplicity and humor is disarming, and culminates in a logo that is as memorable as the studio’s brand.

The second perusal shows that characters are not two but three: italic character “ж” standing between «р» and «д». The logo reflects stability and dynamics whilst red color stands for energy and motion. Central character “ж” ties neighbour characters well together creating a single whole. This “binding together” gives the idea of a train, whilst the italic part of character “ж” shows motion and dynamics.

This logo was created in November 2007 for the City of Montreuil’s new theatre “le Nouveau Theatre de Montreuil” (France). The design of the logo has been inspired by the Institution’s new building. Lines coming from different directions meet and inter-twine to finally draw the outline of the building and thereby create its volume. It is the meeting point of exterior and interior. MONOPOL RECORDS GbR
Monopol Records and Monopol Recordstore is a company based in Germany producing crossover projects such as jazz and drum’n’bass combinations. New innovative styles and common music together in one store. Actually mono-pol indicates that there is only one connection to music. People at Monopol have only one thing in common: good music, symbolized by the logo (red circles on vinyl-like heads). The typeface refers to music via plug connector (a symbol for audio-in). There must be only one target: good music in the heads of masses. Last year, the logosystem was brought to life by using different states of the logo. It’s activated with moving figures to show different music-styles. It has been used for different mediums as businesscard, letterhead, web, etc. and can be animated in a really simple way to show the activity of music.

KITA is a design bureau, a visual playground based in Berlin, in North Germany. Design has much to do with being open minded. Open minded and curious like a child. KITA is the abbreviation of the german word “Kindertagesstaette”, which means “nursery” and it is the name of an Institution for raising children and daycare facility for children. But KITA is also a japanese word for “north” (north of Germany). The designers were looking for a strong sign to symbolize the combination of their love towards japanese design and culture, and the curiosity of a child. From here, the “nippon boy” symbol. The circle is a strong emblem for the everlasting pursuit of beauty in design but it is also an allusion to Japan’s flag.

Oslo Triennale is the organisation behind a series of architecture conferences held in Oslo. This organisation lives both alongside and in between the events. The logo needed to be strong and easily identifiable as a strong signature on any type of presentation, proposals, application forms, on ads and various types of conference material. The overall objective was to create a logo-system, covering the possibilities of growing out of a triennale. It held a challenge in that most of the words in the logo were subject to change. The year would obviously change, but a plan to make it a biennial event instead of a triennial was also to be taken into consideration. The solution was to create a symbol that was flexible in information content, but strong as a shape.

Land Securities The town of Corby, Northamptonshire is currently experiencing substantial investment and redevelopment. A new brand was required for the retail development of the town that conveyed a sense of growth, optimism and positive change for the area. The brand had to be distinctive, unique to the development, and relevant to potential retailers and consumers alike without alienating existing Corby residents. In order to empathise with the local community, we took the historic name for the area, and used an illustrative willow branch to create a clever visual play on the Willow Place name.

The mark was developed from the Plumeria flower that is commonly used to make the traditional lei wreaths given to tourists upon arrival. Incorporating patterns and photography to construct the logo, allowed a fresh and contemporary brand to emerge. Aside from the mark itself, the logo’s concept was developed in such a way that the photograph can be switched out for the resort’s wayfinding and to represent the hotel’s different accommodations. The photographic element provides the logo system flexibility for creating promotions and easily expandable should the resort develop. School: The State University of New York at New Paltz.
