What are we to do this summer? Some say be safe while others recommend be smart. All I know is that it has been one of the most stressful times for my family, friends, and incredible staff. I have come to learn that patience, ingenuity, and creativity allow us to try to adapt to others’ needs all around us. And trust me, I had some learning to do myself. Hopefully, you have taken this unwanted solitude to reflect on one’s path or maybe by helping others with true medical needs. Some have even taken the time to improve our lives by creating new ways to repurpose unused or wasted material products into a more positive, productive outcome in our now ever-changing society. The more I see, the more I learn how many true unsung heroes there are among us. It is just a little overwhelming that it took such a destructive pandemic to bring out the best in people worldwide. It only shows me how great we are when it becomes crunch time, especially in New York City, with the largest numbers in the country working against us. We all worked together in an unthinkable atmosphere fearing the unknown. But we triumphed enough to slow things down to a pace of regaining control of our destiny. So, please let us use what we have learned so far and keep applying what is needed to be done this summer. This way, we can avoid any second wave and learn from history. I look forward to hearing from you with comments, suggestions, and what you would like to see on the pages of New York Lifestyles and Pet Lifestyles magazines. Welcome summer and see you next issue.
