Motor & Sailing Yachts for Charter Yacht Directory from page 108

ABOUT CHARTER Chartering a luxury yacht is the ultimate holiday for personal preferences. Their great appeal is that your itinerary is bespoke to you and incorporates all the elements that are important to you and your guests. Ask any charterer what it is that attracts them to this style of holiday and they will tell you that it is all about the service, ultimate privacy, gastronomic delights, island-hopping itineraries and watersports galore. And that would only be the start… from deciding where you want to go to what you want to see, what foods you want to savor, what activities you would like to pursue and where you would like to step ashore, it’s all about doing things your way.

Although most luxury yachts have certain details in common, they are all unique and offer a range of different features. For example, a traditional displacement motor yacht is ideal for a family charter, while a sailing yacht would be the ideal choice for a real yachting enthusiast. Our Yacht Guide on page 112 will help you decipher which types of yacht are most suitable for you and your charter party. From there the Yacht Directory will give you information on yacht sizes, guest capacity, price, leisure facilities and where they are available. These 67 yachts are just a sample of the world’s most prestigious yachts. We have access to a whole market of 3,000-plus vessels.

The two main factors that will affect your charter are the type of yacht and the destination. There are no hard and fast rules as to which to choose first – yacht or cruising ground – but the time of year during which you are planning to charter may well determine which destinations and yachts are available to you. If you have your heart set on a particular area then you will need to focus on the yachts that charter in that area.

Follow our Four Steps For Chartering Successfully, and leave the hard part to us.

Steps for Chartering Successfully

H OW T O CHARTER From the moment you make your first enquiry, your experienced Northrop & Johnson charter broker will guide you through the entire process. From the initial yacht and destination selection to the paperwork required to secure your preferred yacht and liaising with your captain and crew up until the moment you disembark, they are available at any time to discuss your questions and concerns. Simply follow our Four Steps For Chartering Successfully and leave the details to us. The horizon is closer already.

1 Take some time to think about what would make your luxury yacht charter really special. The main points to think about while you turn the pages are time of year, cruising area, style of charter and the type of yacht that would best suit the size and character of your charter party. As you browse through the yachts in the Yacht Directory, bear in mind that most yachts only charter in specific areas. With that in mind, our Cruising Guides profile a vast selection of charter destinations, with expert tips and cruising itineraries to help you along the way. Simply turn the pages and let the fun begin… 2 Armed with a few ideas, the next step is to contact your Northrop & Johnson charter broker and let us create a unique experience that exceeds expectations. Our charter experts know all of the yachts available – their crews, the ambience and the details that make each one unique - and they will begin suggesting yachts based on amenities, activities offered, and more. 3 Once you have chosen your desired luxury yacht, your charter broker will prepare all the necessary paperwork to secure the yacht for your luxury charter. 4 Your charter broker will liaise with the yacht’s captain and together they will arrange every detail. From menus to cruising locations to on-shore activities, special needs and dietary requirements, they will ensure you and your guests enjoy the ultimate charter experience.

SEVEN-DAY ITINERARY

Tahiti to Moorea (20 nm) Step on board your luxury yacht on the cosmopolitan island of Tahiti and make way for Moorea. Aptly shaped as a heart, the island is a popular honeymoon spot and boasts superb resorts ashore and a colorful mix of marine life in the surrounding lagoon.

2

1

2 3 Moorea to Huahine (88 nm) Spend the day enjoying watersports in Moorea’s translucent lagoon before an overnight crossing to Huahine. The island is arguably the most picturesque in French Polynesia with steep mountains descending into protected bays of emerald green – perfect for all manner of water activities.

Huahine to Raiatea (21 nm) Cruise through the lagoon and the Iriru Pass to Raiatea. The island’s rugged interior is as impressive as its stunning beaches, and is where you will find French Polynesia’s most sacred temple, Marae Taputapuatea. 4

5 Raiatea to Taha’a (13 nm) Lying in the same lagoon as Raiatea, neighboring Taha’a is the Society Island’s largest producer of vanilla. Visit the vanilla farms or the black pearl farms ashore and spend a few hours simply floating amid a rainbow of fish in the stunning lagoon.

Taha’a to Bora Bora (20 nm) From Taha’a it is a short cruise through the Te Ava Nui Pass and the Pai Pai Pass to the lagoon that surrounds the island of Bora Bora. The island itself is as close to the picture perfect tropical ideal as it gets. Spend a few days exploring the island and her surrounding waters before flying to Tahiti, or cruising overnight. 6

TROPICAL IDYLL When it comes to the ultimate tropical getaway, the islands of French Polynesia are as exotic as they come. Comprising a group of mountains rising above the surface of the South Pacific, the islands are surrounded by a barrier reef, in between which lie glorious lagoons and coral atolls rich in marine life. The Society Islands are the most popular of French Polynesia’s five island groups, however, the central archipelago of the Tuamotu Atolls are favored by diving enthusiasts. The lesser-known Marquesas, Australs and largely isolated Gambiers remain so far off-the-beaten-track that yachts rarely venture out so far. The featured itinerary focuses on the Society Islands, and is just an example of the cruising possibilities in this region. Old favorites & the latest hot spots Step ashore to a pearl farm, Huahine • Take a horseback ride along one of the many beaches, Huahine • Hike up the Tapoi Mountain for spectacular views over the Society Islands, Raiatea • Explore the US World War II military base on Bora Bora • Snorkel and swim around the "motus" (deserted islands) that surround Bora Bora’s lagoon • Lounge on Bora Bora’s Matira Beach - reputedly the best beach in all of French Polynesia • Kayak up the Faaroa River and visit Raiatea’s horticultural gardens • Browse Papeete’s pearl shops and select your own pearls for a necklace threaded on site, Tahiti

Vessel types to choose from

YA C H T G U I D E WHAT’S RIGHT FOR YOU?

Before you browse through the stunning portfolio of yachts in search of the best yacht for your charter party, here is an at-a-glance guide to the different types of yacht available 1 Large, Modern Motor Yacht Spacious, stable and designed for pure comfort, large, modern motor yachts are suitable for families, first-time charterers, and large charter groups. Due to their capacity for interior and exterior volume, the larger motor yachts are usually capable of playing host to a range of amenities including Jacuzzis, swimming pools, entertainment systems, gymnasiums, plentiful dining and relaxation areas, and a variety of toys. 2 Performance Motor Yacht High-performance motor yachts are a popular choice for those who are looking for the adrenalin and cool factor that goes with a fast performance yacht. With a focus on speed and comfort, this type of yacht is ideal for those looking to cover a lot of cruising ground in a shorter period. Suitable for shorter charters and smaller groups. 3 Expedition Yacht Unique and versatile, expedition yachts are one of the safest types of yacht available to charter. Powerful and stable, they are designed for autonomous long range cruising to remote destinations, many of which might be unreachable by any other means. 4 Sportfishing Yacht Sportfishing yachts are designed to withstand long periods of time at sea. The majority are fast performance vessels, similar to the performance motor yacht, however their amenities are tailored toward big game fishing and they come kitted out with everything you might require when exploring the world’s remotest fishing grounds.

5 Classic Sailing Yacht The allure of a classic sailing yacht appeals to those who want a genuine sailing experience and are looking to capture the real romance and thrill of yachting. They don’t usually have quite the level of luxury and comfort of a motor yacht, but for genuine sailors there is no other choice. 6 Modern Sailing Yacht For those looking for the amenities of a motor yacht but with the undisputed appeal of sailing, a modern sailing yacht is a good compromise. The most popular in this category are those with the size, comfort and facilities of a motor yacht but with the flexibility to put up the sails and turn off the motor on occasion. 7 Catamaran Catamarans provide a great combination of sail and motor. Owing to their low draft, they are particularly popular with charterers looking to access shallow-water areas such as The Bahamas or the South Pacific, or those who want the thrill and enjoyment of sailing without the inconvenience of heeling at a 30-degree angle (better for families, for example).

C O R P O R AT E C H A RT E R S THE MEGA A LT E R NAT I V E Whether you are looking to charter a large megayacht or a small cruise ship, Northrop & Johnson charter experts can offer luxury vessels with amenities that exceed those of the world’s best resorts. Whether to reward, entertain, motivate, inspire, extend your business contacts or simply to enjoy a peerless environment in which to work, socialize and relax, a megayacht or small cruise ship is a dynamic alternative to the five-star hotel corporate event. They are in fact the equivalent of six-star, self-contained private resorts complete with business facilities and a variety of entertainment and relaxation amenities. Added to this is the absolute assurance that you need only ever be surrounded by the people in your chosen party, and above all, an extreme level of security and privacy; a means to escape media attention and the complexities of everyday life. This is exclusivity beyond comparison. What is more, with a charter broker, captain and crew on hand 24 hours a day, the entire organization and smooth running of the charter or event is guaranteed from start to finish. The following are just a sample of vessels available in their entirety or by individual cabin or suite. Whether you need a vessel to tie in with world-famous events such as the Monaco Grand Prix, or to simply escape and discover some of the world’s most striking destinations, let your dreams set sail.

Strategic Partnerships

Chai Rum The World Distilled In A Glass There are few family owned true West Indian rums left in the world and Akal Chai Rum is among them. While the idea of mixing tea with rum originated more than 400 years ago,

OUR PA R T N E R S FANTASTIC FIVE

They say it’s not about what you know, but who you know. We disagree. At Northrop & Johnson, we believe both are of the utmost importance and are proud to have ample industry knowledge and experience as well as premium brand partners and strategic affiliations with reputable companies and associations within the yachting and luxury lifestyle industries. We believe that through synergy, we can become stronger together.

this limited-reserve dark rum is the first of its kind. Chai Rum’s conception was inspired by a Dutch admiral’s 17th-century idea: “the combination of tea with rum is most delightful.” So, the makers of Chai Rum began to marry eight- to 10-year-old limited-reserve rums with two types of high-altitude teas and more than 15 tropical, aromatic botanicals to create the most sophisticated sipping rum in the world. The process of making Akal Chai Rum is a carefully guarded trade secret; it has been recognized as the first, true innovation in rum production in more than a century by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. This spirt has a 95-point rating from the Tasting Panel in the United States, which puts it in a highly exclusive category.

Created to be enjoyed as a sipping product, the rum’s complex profile attracted the attention of the world’s top mixologists and aficionados, providing them with a new inspiration for cocktails and elevating the art of rum mixology. Through this, the experience of “The World Distilled in a Glass,” was born. You can visit it at www.chairum.com or on YouTube (Akal Chai Rum). You will discover Chai Rum’s signature smoke service “The Mariners Flight,” and cocktails that take you from East to West, across seasons, cultures and time. You can also view our current Cocktail Collection at chairum.eu/ menus. Chai Rum is proud to be a global strategic partner of Northrop & Johnson, and share with the company and its clients a love of the world and adventure. chairum.com
