THE EDITOR SPEAKS Dear Members It is said that gold medals in sports are not really made of gold, they are made of sweat, determination and guts. With a huge measure of talent thrown in the mix of course. Think Joseph Schooling in swimming and Loh Kean Yew in badminton. They dare to dream big and to pursue their dreams relentlessly from a tender age. Now they are Olympics/World champions in their respective sports and two young Singaporeans whom we are immensely proud of. These ingredients for success are no different in the world of golf. The Club’s Junior Golf Development Programme (JGDP) aspires to train and nurture junior golfers to fulfil their potential in national and international tournaments. Over the years many of JGDP’s graduates have achieved varying levels of success in regional and international competitions. Brandon Han, for example, is still working hard at his game and has his sights on more golfing medals. Another graduate, Elizabeth Ang, has become a professional coach to a new generation of golfers. In our cover story, they talk to us about the crucial role of JGDP in their golfing journey. For those of you who are not into competitive sports but value the idea of keeping fit, we have you covered! There are tips to help you achieve your fitness goals for the new year as well as an update on the enhancements made at the Fitness Centre at NSRCC Changi that you may find useful. Last but not least, Mike Neo cannot wait to tell you about his latest food discovery - the Bistro Bowl. Yet another place for you to savour good and value-for-money meals at the Club. So tuck in! Here’s wishing you a Happy New Year 2022. Have a great year ahead!

JUNIOR GOLF
By Nur Isyana,
Assistant Executive (Corporate Communications)
DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAMME
At the beginning of every year, a group of golfers aged 16 years old and below are selected for the Club’s Junior Golf Development Programme (JGDP). The programme was first launched in 2006 with the objective to provide a supervised and structured platform to nurture junior golfers for competition and prepare them for play at the national and international levels.
U
nder the programme, the JGDP members will undergo training by the Club’s resident golf academy with overall supervision by the Greens Committee and Club Management. The committee and management will establish the periodic performance goals for each player, including the level of commitment and level of competition at which the goals are expected to be met.
Training at NSRCC Changi’s Chipping Greens
Currently, there are 12 junior golfers in the programme. Most of them have shown tremendous progress and are representing NSRCC as elite players in local tournaments, such as the HSBC Youth Golf Challenge, Singapore Junior Masters and Singapore Junior Development Tour (SJDT). Over the years, the JGDP has successfully trained and nurtured many junior golfers who have proceeded to attain remarkable achievements in both local and international tournaments. To cite some of the success stories, Brandon Han and Elizabeth Ang are among the outstanding graduates produced by the JGDP. In a two-part feature starting from this RV edition, the JGDP graduates and current JGDP members share with us how the programme has helped in shaping them to be the golfers they are today and the achievements they have chalked up so far.
For more information about NSRCC’s JGDP, please visit our website or email to golfing@nsrcc.com.sg
COVER STORY 5 “The JGDP played a pivotal role in making me become the player that I am today. We were given weekly access to the course, had many opportunities to be in competitive environments with my teammates and learnt a lot from the best coaches,” said 19-year-old Brandon Han, who recently participated in the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship in Dubai.” Agreeing, Elizabeth Ang said, “JGDP instilled discipline and hard work in us. The coaches that were in charge of the programme made us believe in our potential instead of our limitations. With their sound advice and guidance, it helped my endeavours in pursuing my passion and made me who I am today”.
Brandon at the 2021 Asia Pacific Amateur Championship
Elizabeth, 26 years old, is now a golf professional at The Golfing Lab, located at our very own NSRCC Sky Range. “I turned professional in early 2019 and did an internship with The Golfing Lab, learning from one of their directors, Marc Kawasoe. Currently, I am training the JGDP squad members. It is a great privilege to be able to train them and share my experiences with them when I was in the squad,” she shared.
Elizabeth with her mentor, Marc Kawasoe
Elizabeth has come full circle, from being trained under JGDP to training existing JGDP members. Her constant advice to junior golfers is “to be more open-minded about the game, trust the guidance from coaches, continue working hard on your game, be patient and trust the process, and most importantly, always believe in yourself”.

Brandon giving his best shot!
Brandon also has some advice for the JGDP members. “Tell yourself that you learn more from your poor rounds than your good rounds. Always be hungry to learn and improve, knowing that you always have the potential to be better with the right help. Lastly, know yourself inside out. Know and be aware of what your tendencies are and what works for you under pressure, so you know exactly what works best for you when faced with it,” he said.
Look out for the second part of this article in the next RV edition, where we will feature current JGDP members!

CHINESE ZODIAC FORECAST By Master Jason Liew
FOR 2022
With a strong belief in maximising human energy through the combination of Eastern sensitivity and Western sensibility, Feng Shui Master Jason Liew has been learning and practising since the age of 15.
Y
ear 2022 is the Year of the Tiger. A tiger is characterised as powerful, aggressive, possesses great strength and very determined in hunting nature. Therefore, be prepared for a year of swift action, which will also be deadly due to the tiger’s aggressive nature.
The year 2022 can be broken down into five different periods. Each period will create different movement and turbulence. These are my recommendations for the five periods:
Period 1 – 1 Feb to 31 Mar
• Enhance your general knowledge • Jog more often • Put on more items that are made of metal
Period 3 – 30 May to 28 Jul
Period 2 – 1 Apr to 29 May
• Stay away from fire • Do not make impulsive decisions • Jog and swim more often
Period 4 – 29 Jul to 23 Nov
• Have more rest in between work • Put on more items that are made of wood • Jog more often
• Period of maintenance • Enhance luck through your religion • Wear more red clothing • Jog more often
Period 5 – 24 Nov to 21 Jan
• Carry out more investments • Wear more clothing in bright colours • Jog less often • BE HAPPY
Those who can overcome the different periods should be able to gain quite a big leap in your growth sector. However, the opposite will also happen. The most important factor that will determine whether 2022 will be a winning or losing year for you is your physical and mental strength. Therefore, create a strong and stable physical and mental strength from now till the end of the year. As we move towards the end of the year, we will start to move upwards on the slope, creating more stability to welcome the Year of the Rabbit.

TIPS TO ACHIEVE YOUR NEW YEAR’S FITNESS GOALS Do your New Year resolutions for 2022 include achieving your fitness goals? Well, here are some simple tips to increase your chances of achieving your goals successfully. Time to focus and work it out! Determine Your Readiness: Ensure that you are physically and mentally ready to start an exercise programme. Inform your doctor that you want to start a fitness regime and make sure that you are healthy enough to start. Then, consider your mental readiness. You need to mentally prepare yourself by being confident in your exercise ability once you begin. Create a Plan: Identify days and times that are convenient for you and stick to those days, so you are working out at the same time each week. Next, choose an exercise that you enjoy so that you are more likely to do it on a regular basis. Finally, determine how much time you spend exercising. You may start with as little as 10 minutes per session and slowly build up to at least 30 minutes per workout. Bring a Friend: You may know someone who resolves to start exercising in the New Year. Begin your fitness journey together. Having a workout partner increases your chances for success and you will also have more fun. A workout partner provides you with a support system and could just be the motivation you need to get going, especially on days you don’t feel like working out. Take It Easy: Think of your resolution as a lifelong commitment to a healthier lifestyle. You are much more likely to be successful if you take it easy at the beginning. Do it at your own pace, start with low to moderate intensity workouts and slowly increase as you go. Do not be pressured by others. Be Realistic: Ensure that your fitness goals are realistic and feasible. Start slow (i.e. low intensity and duration) and develop a solid foundation of fitness before working to build upon that foundation as your fitness improves. and holding of poses anywhere from one to five minutes. You can expect a lot of slow stretching in the deep connective tissues to release the strain. The next term starts in February.
Muay Thai: For a more intense workout, try Muay Thai, a full body workout known to have a variety of health benefits, such as aiding in weight loss, increase core and leg strength, improve hip mobility, and improve cardiovascular health. The Club is in the midst of forming a group comprising a minimum of 10 persons to commence the class in January.
Taiji: Practising Taijiquan helps to improve the circulation of ‘qi’ (internal energy), which can prevent many ailments. Participants will learn static and dynamic balance, coordination of movements with good bodily control, relaxation and discipline. The next term starts in February.
Yin Yoga: Looking to release the connective tissues in your body after a strenuous workout routine? Try Yin Yoga, which combines the practice of meditation

POTTERY WORKSHOP & DRAGON KILN TOUR By Eunicia Tan,
Executive (Sea Sports & Recreation)

Participants learning how the dragon kiln works
O
n the afternoon of Nov 13, 2021, 16 participants gathered at Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle – a pottery paradise housing Singapore’s oldest surviving dragon kiln.
For a start, participants were given the opportunity to have a look inside the kiln and learn the science behind its structure. They were told that the pottery jungle is a three-generation family business founded in 1965 by the Tan family, who also owns the Thow Kwang dragon kiln. It is a traditional wood kiln built with bricks and clay to fire clay work to a desired temperature. During firing, the ashes are incorporated on the artwork, reacting with the fire, clay and glazes to give a rustic and unique effect. This effect cannot be achieved through other forms of firing, such as gas or electric kilns.
A happy family excited to start making their clay art pieces!
Thereafter, everyone proceeded to the studio to get their hands on the clay and make their own unique pottery products. The instructor introduced the different tools and their uses. She also provided a demonstration on how to form a cylinder, employ decorative techniques and ideas such as adding alphabets and shapes, and glazing with colours. Subsequently, participants were left by themselves to unleash their creativity to transform clay into an art piece. Everyone certainly had a lot of fun and could not wait to collect their fired products that were to be ready in about four weeks’ time!

s a Senior Lifeguard, Abdul Qayyum Md Yusop is frequently seen at the Swimming Pool area in NSRCC Changi. His journey with the Club started in Nov 2018. When asked what keeps him going, Qayyum answered, “The opportunity of learning new things and attending courses that are relatable to what I am doing.” He added, “For example, I attended the Pump Room course, which was really beneficial as the trainer explained in detail how I can manage the swimming pool operations more efficiently. I also attended the HAZMAT course, where I learnt how to handle chemicals and understand the differences and precautions when handling chemicals. Plus, I have colleagues and supervisors who are very supportive.” NSRCC lifeguards work three shifts: the morning shift from 8.00am to 5.00pm, the afternoon shift from 12.30pm to 9.30pm and the full shift from 8.00am to 9.00pm. At the start of each shift, they have a mandatory task, which is to check the pump room and ensure there are no abnormal noises or any leakages. Thereafter, they have to check the quality of the swimming pool water using the water testing kit. Qayyum shared, “This check is to ensure that the water quality is within the ideal range, thus making it suitable for swimmers.” He then patrols the swimming pool area and its surroundings to check for defects, sharp objects or any issues that require immediate attention. In that sense, lifeguards do not have a typical work day.
Qayyum explained, “Ultimately, when duty calls, we need to be vigilant as anything can happen at any time during our shift. We patrol around the swimming pool to ensure that everything is operating smoothly, and if there is anything that requires attention, we ensure that it is reported accordingly. In between shifts, we check on the pump room to ensure that it is running well. We will also check the First Aid Kit to ensure that all items are well-stocked and that the AED is working properly. At the end of the day, we ensure that everything is in working order for the next day.” According to Qayyum, a fixed task in their weekly routine is to clean the swimming pool. On every Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights, the lifeguard on duty will launch and operate The Dolphin swimming pool cleaner. “What I like most about working as a lifeguard is that I have the knowledge of applying life-saving skills to provide CPR and first aid, whenever there is an emergency – both within and outside of my job. With these skills, members and guests can be assured that we are on top of things in the case of any emergency.”
IMPROVINGPROCEDURES AT NSRCC SAFETY A CLUB HAPPENINGS 17
t NSRCC, we place paramount importance on ensuring the safety of our members and guests. Thus, we are constantly looking at ways to improve and heighten our safety procedures around the Club.
The Club understands that a quick response time plays a crucial role in the event of medical emergencies. As such, we have placed Automated External Defibrillator (AED) devices in more buggies.
Below is the list of where AEDs can be found around the Club: NSRCC Changi • Evacuation Buggy • Chief Marshal Buggy • Security Buggy • Course Maintenance Workshop • Fitness Centre • Golf Reception • Guardhouse • Halfway House at First Tee • Halfway House at Tenth Tee Chief Marshal Buggy • Main Lobby at NSRCC Changi • Sky Range, outside lift at level 1 • Swimming Pool, inside lifeguard room • Swimming Pool, outside lifeguard room NSRCC Kranji • Evacuation Buggy • Chief Marshal Buggy • Course Maintenance Workshop • Halfway House at First Tee • Halfway House at Tenth Tee • In front of Fairway Cafe (Golfers’ Terrace)
The buggies of our Chief Marshals and selected Security Personnel have recently been equipped with AED devices. This enhancement will speed up the response time for medical emergencies and ensure that our staff will be able to render immediate assistance when required. It is also in addition to the First Aid Kits on the buggies. Additionally, most of our golfing staff, especially the course marshals, are trained to perform Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and they undergo CPR training regularly. Recently, some Greens Committee members also attended a Basic Emergency Response Course, where they learnt the theoretical knowledge relating to AEDs and were provided with a handson demonstration on how to operate the AED in a safe and effective manner. They also learnt how to perform CPR and the basics of rendering first aid for sprains, dislocation, cuts, fractures and burns. The 8-hour course was conducted by instructors from the Singapore Emergency Responder Academy (SERA) and held at NSRCC Changi.

We hope that these enhancements will assure our members and guests that our team is ready to respond in a timely manner, should emergencies happen at the Club.

18 REGULARS
So, what is this, you’re wondering? Is this some form of espionage being conducted on members? After all, this is a soldiers’ club. I-Spy seeks to highlight incidents that warrant attention, and providing pointers on better decorum, with the greater good of enhancing the Club experience for one and all. These are real incidents, couched with a tinge of literary license for dramatic effect (hopefully), but real, nonetheless. As the saying goes, “The best way to solve a problem is to find some humour in it.” Hence, the incidents will be narrated with a light-hearted bent, but the message will ultimately have more purposeful intent.
I-Spy … Inconsiderate Golfer! At first glance, you would say that this was a golfer with impeccable fashion sense – matching golf attire, complementary accessories, top of the range golf equipment, and the list goes on. He truly loves the game! On a superficial level, that is. Upon closer scrutiny, his actions on the course reveal his inner demons. Fashion sense cannot make up for a lack of golfing etiquette. Golf attire, unfortunately, cannot mask these deficiencies. Yes, he loves the game, but not the course. A lovely, lofted pitch to the green leaves an obvious indentation, a blemish on its otherwise immaculate surface. But our protagonist leaves it unrepaired, leaving it to divert the approach of an ensuing golf shot from subsequent flights of golfers, and inflicting golfing misery on them. Now, that’s heartless! But he is not done yet. Spike drag marks, unreplaced divots and even more unrepaired pitch marks go unabated. Fortunately, good sense prevails, and his flight mates call out his `heartless actions.’ They could not stomach further destruction to the greenery they have grown to love. And rightly so.
discovers that the annoying sound comes from the nearby tee box. Cackling away is a five-feet five `elderly’ rooster who cackles incessantly. Even chickens would be annoyed by his cackling. This was annoyance personified but our `victim’ can only grimace in silent misery. Dear Rooster – please limit your cackling to your coop at home. Other golfers on surrounding tee boxes and greens nearby can hear you. Or we may have to muzzle you when you are out on the golf course!
I-Spy …Member Unmasked! In a sea of masked faces, this one stands out. Instead of draping it over his nose and mouth, this one dangles on the ear lobe, as if it was a fashion accessory. It is not a pleasant sight, and it is far from appealing. Yet another is spotted with no mask in sight, walking as if he is in own living room. But this is the Club premises where mask wearing is mandatory unless you are dining.
It takes only a moment to repair pitch marks and divots, but the therapeutic benefits are enjoyed not only by the golf course, but by golfers as well.
Unless you have special dispensation from the authorities, which is highly unlikely, please don your masks. And place it where it belongs.
To our dear Inconsiderate Golfer – Manners and etiquette, not golf attire, maketh the Man!
Till the next issue…I will continue to Spy… from the Corner of My Eye!
I Spy …Rooster Cackles on the Golf Course! Just as he is about to putt, a loud cackle punctures the still air, and his putt goes astray. Sensing that this cackle was more human than chicken-like, he

GREENSIDE JAN/FEB 2022
Dear NSRCC members,
MATTERS
O
n behalf of NSRCC Management and the Greens Committee, I would like to wish all our members a Happy New Year! May 2022 bring new hope and fresh beginnings for all of you. For those who observe the Chinese zodiac, 2022 is also the year of the Water Tiger. The Tiger is known for
its many good qualities - competitive, courageous, enthusiastic and generous, with a strong sense of justice and commitment to help others for the greater good. With these attributes in mind, I was not surprised to learn that we have a few “Tigers” in our NSRCC Course Maintenance team. We often see them working silently in the background as we play our way through 18 holes. What we don’t see is them starting work in the wee hours of the morning before the first tee times, and the hard work in the evenings after the last flight finishes its round. Under the watchful eyes of our Changi Course Manager Lee Kok Keong and Kranji Course Superintendent Lim Kah Hwee, this team toils tirelessly from dawn till dusk to ensure that we have the best possible golfing experience on what are arguably Singapore’s busiest golf courses. As we embark on our first rounds of golf for 2022, I encourage you to start the year off on a positive and appreciative note by acknowledging our Course Maintenance colleagues when you next see them on the course. While a simple thumbs up, or an appreciative “thank you for the good work” will go a long way, the biggest gesture has to be us replacing our fairway divots and fixing our pitch marks on the greens. We have 3.3 hectares or approximately 380,000 sqft of greens across both courses. The team spends as much as 25% of overtime work repairing pitch marks alone. This is so as they can only carry out repair work progressively after the last flight finishes its round. It takes a golfer no more than 15 seconds to repair and tap down a pitch mark. The pitch mark that you repair immediately recovers in as quickly as 5 days. The pitch mark that you don’t repair takes at least 14 days to heal. Dragging or twisting your golf shoes around the greens damages the greens in very much the same ways. Tapping down spike marks takes even less effort. I know many of us find unsightly and uneven greens a bane, especially when that crucial birdie putt goes offline. I am also certain many of us would rather our Course Maintenance team spend less time fixing damaged greens and more of their time up-keeping and beautifying our courses for the best possible golfing experience. It is this joint effort over the years that continues to earn NSRCC our Audubon International Rating, an achievement we can all be very proud of. We can all play our part by doing that little bit more. Let’s make it one of our New Year resolutions to leave our greens and fairways in better condition than when we find them at the start of each round. Let’s bring out the “Tiger” in us this new year - competitive, enthusiastic but also generous, with a strong sense of justice and commitment to the greater good. Here’s to another year of wonderful NSRCC golf. Happy 2022! WINSTON TOH Club Captain

Caring
GREENS
FOR OUR
As we are experiencing
high utilisation rates at
both NSRCC Changi and
Kranji since the start of
the COVID-19 pandemic, it
is important to ensure that
our golf courses continue
to be kept pristine and well-
maintained. This is so that all golfers can enjoy a pleasant game on the course.
H
ere are some tips on how you can play your part in caring for our greens at NSRCC.
• Repair Spike Marks There have been damages on the greens at the Club’s practice areas and golf courses, that are visibly caused by spike marks due to poor shoe etiquette. To prevent such unnecessary damage, golfers should lift, not drag, the sole of their shoes across the top of putting surfaces. A golfer who causes damage on the greens from his or her golf shoes must repair it. Spike marks not only damages the greens, but are also unsightly and cause inconveniences to other golfers by depriving them of a smooth and even surface to putt.

TEE TALK 21
• Repair Pitch Marks It takes mere seconds to repair pitch marks on the greens. The correct way to repair a pitch mark is:
Correct Method
1. Insert the pitch mark repair tool just outside the back of the ball mark. 2. Pull the turf towards the centre of the mark. 3. Repeat this same motion on all sides of the mark. 4. Gently tap down the repaired area with a putter. This action stretches undamaged turf over the ball mark, providing instant recovery. Golfers should not pry up the centre of the depression with the repair tool, as it exposes the soil and will delay the healing process. Additionally, do not insert the repair tool and twist it because this will cause more turf to break loose.
Incorrect Method • Repair Divots Properly repairing divots helps the turf recover as quickly as possible and helps to restore a smooth playing surface. If the divot is intact and there is soil still attached, simply replace it in the correct orientation and firmly press the divot into the ground with your foot. Pressing down is important because this establishes good contact between turf roots and the soil, which helps the divot heal. Pressing down also creates a firm, smooth surface that provides better playability if someone’s ball ends up on the divot while it is healing. If there are any significant gaps between the divot and the surrounding turf, fill them with divot mix and smoothen and flatten it with your foot. This will help the turf knit back together. If a divot does not have any soil attached, or if it has shattered into small pieces, it cannot be replaced and expected to heal properly. Filling the divot with divot mix is the best option in these situations. Depending on the course and the grass types, divot mix may be pure sand or it may contain seed to aid in recovery. Regardless of what’s in the mix, the way to properly fill a divot is the same: Add mix until it is slightly below the height of the adjacent turf, then smoothen the mix and press down with your foot. It is worth taking a few extra seconds to get the level just right. Too little mix will create poor playability and may not allow the divot to heal fully. Too much mix creates playability issues and can damage mowing equipment.
Repairing divots is one way to care for our turf

MISUSE OF NSRCC
MEMBERSHIP PRIVILEGES
I
n the past 12 months, a few incidents were discovered where members had attempted to register nonmembers for a golf game using their membership particulars despite the Club’s no-guest policy. It would appear that these members resorted to this course of action, in order to allow their friends who were non NSRCC members to play at the Club while enjoying members’ rate. The Club takes a serious view of such misconduct and will not hesitate to bring errant members to task. For the cases cited, the Disciplinary Committee reviewed and concluded that these members misused their membership privileges and also committed an act of cheating, contravening the Club’s Constitution and ByeLaws. The errant members were subsequently penalised with a 12-month suspension of their membership. While the Club continues to monitor such irregularities, we are grateful that most of our members adhere to the Bye-Laws. However, should any of our members be found guilty of breaching of the Bye-Laws, the Club may impose the following penalties:
i Reprimand; ii Fine of up to $2,000; iii Suspension of some or all privileges of membership for up to 24 months; iv or Termination of membership.

CHIPPING TRAJECTORIES By Brad McManus, Director, International Golf Institute
D
eveloping a good short game is the key to reducing one’s score in the golf course. Learning to control the trajectory of your golf shots is crucial especially with chipping and pitching. I thought I’d share with you a few basics to help you learn various trajectories. One school of thought is we can use different clubs for chipping. As much as this is true, it is also very important to be able to manipulate the loft of your sand iron in order to change the golf ball’s trajectory. Ball position, shaft length, and the club’s bounce angle, and club face manipulation are the keys to control your trajectory.
High Shots
Here’s a general summary for the three basic trajectories in chipping:
Put the ball back in your stance, inside the right heel and in line with your right ear and have the shaft leaning forward. The front of the bounce should skim across the ground. Please note the leaning edge should not dig into the ground.
Standard Shots
Low Shots
Play the ball from the middle of your stance, in line with your nose, and reduce shaft lean in comparison with the low shots’. Middle of the bounce contacts the ground.
Play the ball forward, inside left heel and in line with your left ear, and have a neutral shaft. The back of the bounce skims the ground.
Notice that I refer ball position not only to the feet but also to the head. This is important for good players in that it encourages them to have a steady head/centre during the shot. A good short game is important and one must have an arsenal of shots to select from so I encourage all players to practise manipulating the sand iron in order to become a better player.

BISTRO BOWL – NICE, VALUE-FOR-MONEY MEALS By Mike Neo, NSRCC Member
Mike lives to eat and will ride his motorbike to the furthest corners, wherever there is good food.
I would boldly hazard a guess that 80% of our members, especially golfers, are unaware that there is a hidden gem in NSRCC Resort Bowl that can satisfy one’s food cravings. Indeed, I am referring to the Bistro Bowl (Bowling Café).
W
ith the abundance of food and beverage outlets at the main section of NSRCC Changi clubhouse, coupled with the bars and restaurants at NSRCC Sea Sports Centre, it is hardly any wonder that members and guests may be oblivious of its existence.
Hor Fun ($4.00)
The café may look ordinary, but you will be impressed by their value-formoney menu selection with Eastern and Western dishes galore, from finger food, pasta, sandwiches, noodles, rice, and the list goes on. The fried rice and seafood noodles (Hor Fun) are generously portioned and reasonably priced at $4 per dish. My personal favourite would be the Chicken Spaghetti Bolognese ($7.50), which is a satisfyingly cheesy mix of chicken and a classic bolognese ragù (tomato-based sauce) tossed up with spaghetti pasta done al dente. My feasting partner, Jackson Loy, prefers the fusion dish of Cheese Baked Rice with Curry Chicken, which he claims has subtle hints of flavourful nasi briyani to the taste.

($4.00)
Apart from that, we also sampled the Salted Fish Fried Rice (which was tasty, but could have been a tad less oily), Fried Bee Hoon, Chicken Burger and Club Sandwich, all of which were tastefully above average. And evidently, the price for each dish is on par with that of hawker centres, considering that the bistro is set in an airconditioned dining environment. The congenial owner of the Bistro Bowl, Miss Pauline Quek, shared with us that the outlet was doing well before the COVID-19 outbreak, and her wish was to keep the prices low to attract more patrons to the bistro. Most of her clients are members and guests who utilise the facilities in the Resort Bowl such as the KTV, Games Room and the bowling alley. The bistro also caters to NSRCC Bungalow guests, as it is conveniently located near the bungalows. However, this group of customers has been absent since the bungalows had been closed since May 2021. (This food review session was conducted in mid Nov 2021.) Nevertheless, Pauline is optimistic that the bungalow guests will return when the bungalows reopen in late Nov 2021.
Fried Rice ($4.00)
Be sure to check it out; head over to the lively Bistro Bowl to support Pauline and, be pleasantly surprised by the myriad dishes offered at great value, speed, and taste!
