PRESIDENTS' ADDRESS MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE OUR SUBCOMMITTEES BINGO CHALLENGE ODAC SHIRT DESIGNS

Contents

Hey Everyone! We started the previous academic year with a simple objective: ensure that NTU ODAC retains its long-lasting traditions, values, and commitments being a club for adventure seekers. With the publication of this issue, a new management committee would have stepped up to take over where we left off. We are truly glad that despite the various challenges in the past year, that the sprit of adventure is still ever so strong. With the ever changing situations throughout the past year, we feel so proud of what our different sub-committees have achieved; not only embarking on adventures within the limits, but forming everlasting friendships, and making ODAC feel like a family. This definitely surpassed our expectations amid all the restrictions. Always remember, ODAC is nothing without one another. To our sub-committee members, Our journey this academic year has been an extremely challenging endeavour for our club. While we remain proud of how we have gone through this pandemic, what has imprinted in our minds was seeing how everyone grew beyond who they were, and out of your own comfort zone. Despite the ever-changing situation, all of you have been able to adapt quickly to meet required standards and ensure things ran smoothly. We hope this ODAC experience has become an unforgettable part of your journey in university. Thank you for always being understanding, even when it was frustrating. Thank you for supporting each other in the events. We hope that the friends you have made along this journey will accompany you for many more adventures to come! To our incoming sub-committee members, we trust that 26th Management Committee have the same drive and dedication as we did, if not more, to bring all of you through these uncertain times. Trust your SPOs, trust your management committee; they will always have all of our best interests at heart. We hope for less turbulent times ahead, and do not ever let that little voice in your heart of adventure go quiet. To our 25th management committee, Thank you for being a part of this challenging team. While we may not have experienced much adventure in our tenure, don’t let your dreams be dreams; we hope that your spirit of adventure never dies, and we hope to see all of you at the end of this tunnel, where we may one day go on another adventure, scale the mountains, explore the unknowns. Let us look forward to those times again, my friends. To all freshmen reading this! Whether you are an existing adventurer who has scaled Mount Everest, or just beginning to find that spirit of adventure within you, we hope you will be able to feel inspired and let NTU ODAC be a part of your undergraduate life. Fun, joy and laughter defines the Adsports committee, which organises adventure sports events to bring ODAC family together. Through the years, Adsports have presented ODAC with exhilarating activities such as mountain biking, paintball and bubble soccer.

LOVE HUAT

KAYAKING COURSES What's a perfect remedy to a warm weather? Having fun capsizing into the cool waters off the coast, that is. Over the winter break, Adsports organised kayaking courses at PAssion WaVe Sembawang, where members picked up basic paddling and recovery skills. Congratulations to those who earned their stars! Apart from the certification courses, Adsports also organises Paddles Up, an annual kayaking expedition in Malaysia. Fate would not let us hold it again this year, but we will not be discouraged! For now, round-ubin kayaking expedition anyone?

MINGLE PRINGLE Social gathering restrictions are wrecking ODAC bonding plans? The Mingle Pringle team has got our backs! In this event, meet other subcommittee members while you venture outdoors, and in teams of five, complete various tasks together to win big prizes! Over the weeks, groups got to hike up the Labrador Nature Reserve, cycle around Singapore and enjoy a picnic at Marina Barrage. It was a great opportunity to unwind during the semester and connect with the the ODAC fambamz.

Its been a v chaotic year of trying to exploring sg while trying to be legal (we really tried) and we r v amazed that we survived this year too. Thank you for sacrificing your weekends to walk around with us even tho it must have been really hard to get up from bed. From abigail rolling down the slopes to weizhou’s never ending shirtless pics, we hope u had a great time with us getting stuck in all sorts of muddy and slightly illegal situations. We also hope u enjoyed our v weird games and learning abt how scary ppl can be (e.g. gayle pinning down both weizhou and mingxian at the same time was really eye opening) and watching us seniors fail around in everything in life. Stay noisy as ever and never stop exploring! We also want to say thank you for all you’ve done the past year. Nothing went our way but we are proud that you guys still pushed on and managed to hold a virtual race. There were many obstacles that came our way but we hope that through this journey, you learnt what it takes to run a race and most importantly, made friends and form great memories along the way. It’s a shame that we did not get to do most of the more exciting activities (like subcomm trip and family day) but hey! We can always plan something fun to do after they allow gatherings of more than 24 people HAHAH. To our SA’s, thanku weixin for being our fav ah toot and marcus for being baited to join us. To our MCA (and UMCA especially david who always promises to appear but never does!!) thank u for always supporting us in our stupidity and also coming to make meetings more noisy. To the next batch of atc’22, HAHA GOOD LUCK LOSERS. Also to everyone, we hope u remember us v v fondly and hope u had great fun even tho we keep making u do work.

When I started initially, I thought to myself, “a year, ahhh”. After almost a year with you all, it is indeed “a year, ahhh!”. I thoroughly, fully, wholeheartedly enjoyed the whole foot21 journey, and am ever so grateful that I am able to walk it with every single one of you. I love how every of your personality shines, how you all go from strangers to closer friends who can just sit around and talk nonsense and make your own fun out of nothing, and I appreciate all your efforts for really trying to make it for activities and events!! Thank you for your open-mindedness, for your trust, your support, and I hope this year has been eventful enough (even though we are trapped!!), that every one have at least tried and experienced something new, and gained some new friendships and maybe relationship..? Haha jokes aside, thank you all for your hard work and long nights through recces and planning and eventually leading, say reals idgaf about foot camp bc of covid haha but I do hope the process was still enjoyable for y’all!!! I am more than happy to see some of you all step up along the way and take the lead or initiative, and just caring and showing concern for one another, and I feel very proud to call you all MY foot21 :) I do feel very attached and will miss you all dearly :’) Thank you girls for being so goofy and sisterly and just full of sweg sistersss, I was never an affectionate words person till I met y’all; and thank you boys for all your karaokes and dissing sessions, and being so daring to go places and free manpower heheh. And I meant it when I say all of you have the potential to do something great!! So go fly your wings and stay curious, stay adventurous, and stay close!!! And I will be around when you all need any assistance :) Remember to #assertdominance and our #circleoftrust !!

PUMPFEST XIV HIGH ON ROCKS Presenting, our final batch of Pumpfest subcommittee members, Pumpfest XIV! Pumpfest was an annual bouldering competition held in Singapore, attracting competitors from both the local and international climbing scenes. It hosted the Team Event, Under-17, Novice, Intermediate, and Open competition categories, and a non-competitive Fun Climb option in its last event that was held in 2019. While we will be saying goodbye to this subcommittee in the coming academic year, its spirit to always climb to greater heights will continue to live on in the NTU ODAC family.

4 2 t s e f p m u P t s e r a e d r u o o Wei T Thank you all for joining us on our last Pumpfest journey. It has been a year of ups and downs and more downs and even more downs. But that just means we can only look up! In all seriousness, we appreciate each and everyone of you for tagging along for the year. It was really unfortunate that the COVID-19 situation did not ease up but nonetheless, it was great having you guys for the little time that we spent together. Despite the troubles, we hope it was a fruitful experience and was able to supplement your journey in NTU. We would first like to thank our SWTs; the card and cake suppliers; our two and only Joy and Min Hui for settling our subcommittee’s admin needs. Though we did not get to experience the hecticness of handling the event registration, we really do appreciate your promptness in settling our subcomm’s financeness and welfareness. You two have really done a lot for the subcomm~

We would also like to give the hugest shoutout to team pubz; Ding Shan, Jie Hui and Charmaine for taking all them smexy pics and making our adorable pumpfest tee. It was good to see you guys working together and initiating discussions with the subcomm, not to mention always having a camera ready for the photos! We could really see you guys trying more than your best to work on the pubs skills and we couldn’t ask for a better trio! To the bizziest mags of them all, thank you to Shao Ni and Berlin. As bizmag work revolves heavily around the event, there really wasn’t much that y’all needed to do (for better or worse). For Shao Ni, it was nice having the table tennis sessions to see your superb skills and having you for night cycling. To Berlin, we are sad you couldn't join a lot of the sessions because of your busy schedule :( Nonetheless you were always there in our hearts <3 To our yummy perogies (Leonard, Eunice & Hoiye). Similar situation to our dear bizmags, there was not much responsibility to carry out for your roles, but nonetheless it was great having you guys around. We appreciated when you guys went out of your way to participate in some of our pumpfest activities. Be it the few climbing sessions we had or hydrating session, your company will never not be missed. To our weightlifters and spider fighters, the logs team (Kian Hian, Isaac & Zaki). Y’all really helped us out with dealing with the store that one time and not much else. All seriousness though we really appreciate you guys helping out and supporting the subcomm. Even having you guys join our climbing sessions often made us very happy. If we had to do more heavy lifting of the logs y’all can be lumberjacks already. Lastly, we would like to thank our fatty SAs (plus our Super Senior Attached) and MCAs for their support. It was really a big help having you guys to liven the mood and to help out with our subcomm bonding. You guys were really the extra hands for so many of our activities and event planning (of what we could do) and we appreciated every ounce of your support! To end off the subcommittee with this final message, we sincerely would like to thank you guys for choosing Pumpfest 24 and supporting us all the way. From the start, we knew it was a bleak road ahead, but knowing that you guys still chose to walk that path with us filled our hearts with a glimmer of hope. After all that, we have to sadly end the journey for the entirety of the subcomm. The route has been topped. We are honoured to have you guys be part of the journey and see it through till the end. Thank You Pumpfest! ^Bump

The Trek subcommittee is NTU ODAC's specialised hiking team that focuses on conquering mountains all over the world. Unfortunately for Trek 14, due to the major restrictions they were faced with from the COVID-19 pandemic, they were unable to go on any overseas trips in this academic year. Nonetheless, the team made the best of what they were dealt with by holding various day-long hikes throughout different parts of Singapore, and a cozy overnight camp on Pulau Ubin earlier this year — outdoor cooking under the starlight included!

We might not have had the chance to travel overseas together (YET!!) but we sure as hell had some great times together <3 We hope you enjoyed your first year in NTU as much as the both of us enjoyed ours and thank you for making our second year so amazing. Now, let's go on a Trek Rewind! Firstly, to our tiktok star & teacher Swan, we're glad to have the honour of getting you to try har cheong gai! rmbr your fun fact? maybe our next challenge is to bring you to a hairdresser to get your hair cut... Next, to our secretary & living meme Kathlene we hope you'll always be served fries that smell right to you... keep blessing everybody with those hilarious faces & that voice of yours. pls remember to have regular meals & pee often ... To the sweetest Pisces and Gemini Rising basketballer Tiff who sews her own clothes & likes hawaiian pizza, thank you for gracing us with your PRESENTS <3 & your pictures and videos <3 when will we get to see the pictures from Clementi forest taken on your film cam? Next, to our dearest doctor-to-be & K-boo Sean, thank you for organising so many of our activities <3 you're so photogenic it would be a pity if we don't CONTINUE your handholding photoshoot. but we hope your nightwalks have helped your love bloom! autumn vibes indeed! To our beloved Sim Eng who was innocently taking 382929 pix in Ubin and got wrecked by Jin Chun, we highly recommend you buy a few mac chargers PLS... On to our GPA master Samfrey, the magic you do to our photos with your editing leaves us speechless... but even mtxx cannot ERASE from our memories all the times you were LATE >:( sure, you're a linguistics expert but one who wears SHOES to a beach & buys slides at ntuc... Next, to our very own food inhaler, encyclopedia, bamboo-cutter and SK8TER BOI Samuel, thank you for carrying your cameras, lenses, tripods, and BINOCULARS?! EVERYWHERE... rmbr when u USED ur skates to hold your mcchicken... we've all learned so much from u but what we DON'T appreciate would probably be your VERY cold jokes. and on that note, on to our heavy-metal loving ice queen Jin Chun (or Chee Chun as her teacher used to call her), you scared us with your formidable "if I don't like you, I don't like you" line at the interview. But you warmed the cockles of our hearts <3 STOP running when you're sick <3 Next, to our milk-drinking vocabulary expert Zheng Han, you really gave us a bang for our buck. PT IC, run-initiator, and a manyao deejay - what more can we ask for? #neverforget when you tried to murder us w the PT that included one round of 10 mins of planks times number on card drawn... In totality, we would like to leave you with a piece of advice: eat all your greens! A big thank you to our MCAs, Zoe & Alvin, for your support as well <3 And last but not least, how could we forget our beloved SAs - Chen Chong Jun and Sally Toh Yikang <3 thank you CJ for replying to all our messages & coming for all the dinners. no thank you to all the bad jokes. hope your pet hamster has finally given birth... thank you Yikang for all the mmrs i.e. the stupid & weird & funny stuff you say & do x love the fact that you actually bought and gave out chocolate in ubin as well as the hawaiian shirt you wore <3
