MARITIME MISSIVES [ INSIDE THE ISSUE ]
Surf’s Up Editor’s Note: As part of my research for our story on Maritime High School this month (pages 56-62), I had the pleasure to meet freshman Chloe Hedge-Pollock. She not only inspired me with her insights on the program but also with photos of her two favorite extracurricular activities—sailboat racing and surfing with pals in Westport. Ride those waves, Chloe!

Editor’s Note: To say I enjoyed my deep dive into 75 years of Seattle Boat Show history for our January issue is an understatement, but letters such as this one always make that dive even more worthwhile. Kudos to the Northwest Marine Trade Association and SBS teams for making the 75th edition one for the books!
Editor’s Note: Our January profile on Allison Demmert, and her inspiring journey to captain the Ultimo and a predominantly female crew during the Alaskan fishing season, received a lot of love and support online, including from the source herself. Helm, sweet helm, indeed.
Michelle & Kate – I want to thank you for the amazing Seattle Boat Show feature in the January issue. Yes, it is a Show Like No Other and your support over many years has been a big part of our success. I have struggled over the years to describe the show history concisely and this will be something I will use often. Great work with the writing, Kate! So glad you were able to include Louis and Jack.
@Allison Demmert: NW Yachting is a woman-owned, women-run magazine supporting women in maritime. Thank you to college friend Kate Calamusa for this wonderful write-up in their January issue! @Priscilla Christine Morgan: Women empowering Women. Love it! @Annette Gehlen Rosenberger: Wow Allison you are an amazing inspiration for women. So proud of you and your accomplishments. I’m sure it’s been challenging and hope you continue to inspire many more @Brandi Richards Olson: Amazing article. Love every bit of it Allison Demmert! @Jessica Demmert: That’s my cousin! I’ve always admired her abilities but this—!#42ProudCousin
