hen moving to Spain, many people leave behind personal pension plans which they, or their employer, have been paying into over the years in the UK. Until recently they had no option but to leave this in the pension fund in the UK, with no access to their money until they retired. However, new regulations were introduced in April 2006 which allow individuals living abroad to transfer their pension funds to another country. There are significant benefits to be had by transferring your frozen pension out of the UK: Greater investment freedom, with the flexibility of investing in a much wider range of funds and investments and the ability to pass on pension funds to your beneficiaries on your death. Further benefits include being tax efficient, up to 25% tax free lump sum, flexible currency and finally tax planning opportunities. These benefits can be realised by moving your pension into a QROPS approved by the UK Government. QROPS stands for Qualified Recognised Overseas Pension Scheme, and were introduced by HMRC in April 2006 in response to new EU legislation. Since then many expatriates all over the world have benefited from the scheme. There are, of course, rules and regulations around what qualifies as a QROPS scheme and whether an individual is eligible to join. From an individuals point of view, they must be between 18 and 75 years of age, and have lived (or plan to live) outside the UK for 5 years or more, however it is recommended that individuals consult an Independent Financial Adviser to discuss all aspects before entering any plan. n

here is a huge variety of kitchen herbs and there are various tips and good advice for maintaining them. We all know the little pots from the supermarkets, which contain Basil and Thyme for example but you may not know that you should replant them in bigger pots where possible. This helps them to retain the necessary fluids that they require in order to flourish, and don’t forget to find a sunny or half- shady spot for them. In this article though, I would like to introduce Sage “Salvia oficinalis” Labiatae. The name arrives from the Latin name salvere which means “to save or heal”. There are more than 900 different species of Sage. Sage could be a wonderful feature in your Spanish garden. It grows up to 40-60 cm/ 24inches. The leaves are tinted deeppurple to silver-white and the flowers are bluish, white and purple. They flower during May through to October. Pruning is always best during the autumn or just after flowering. Sage is drought tolerant but needs regular watering in order to achieve a nice healthy plant. It’s not the classic kitchen herb which grows on a window ledge because it’s a large bushy plant and needs a sunny or half-shady spot. It survives better directly planted in the garden with the freedom to grow as it needs. It is widely cultivated for its aromatic leaves, which are used in cooking, medicine, homeopathic medicine, in perfumery and food industries. Sage is known to help against sore throats and all kinds of infections. It also helps against sweating and there’s so many more healing properties that Sage has the list would be incredibly long. However Sage is not a herb which should be used every day as it is very potent. It can provoke epileptic shocks in severe cases. The plant itself is a beautiful shrub which flowers in the Mediterranean zone and I personally feel in a garden here on the peninsula, Sage is an important component. The Italians use Sage as an important ingredient for flavouring their dishes. There is a particular recipe that uses Sage as a major ingredient and is called “Saltimbocca”, which literally translated means “jump in the mouth”. n

Esto les ayuda a retener los fluidos necesarios para poder crecer bien, y no olvide buscar un lugar soleado o entre sol y sombra donde ponerlas. En este artículo quisiera presentaros la salvia (Salvia oficinales Labiatae). El nombre procede del latín “salvere” que significa “salvar o sanar”. Hay más de 900 especies diferentes de salvia. La salvia puede ser un detalle maravilloso para su jardín español. Crece unos 40-60 cms / 24 pulgadas. If Mr Zapatero can convince worldwide investors that Spanish bonds are safe, the Government’s borrowing costs will go down, which is a good thing for all concerned. Spain may not be out of the woods yet but with Mr Zapatero and his roadshow doing the rounds to drum up enthusiasm and confidence in Spain, the rewards will be there for us all to enjoy over the coming years. n

Si su casa va ser construida y puede elegir el sistema de calefacción, existen principalmente sólo dos opciones: suelo radiante o un sistema de calefacción central con radiadores. Con la subida del coste de las fuentes de energía tradicionales, las energías renovables alternativas como la geotérmica y la solar están incrementando su popularidad; y proveen tecnologías simples, económicas y respetuosas con el medio ambiente para calentar su casa, el agua o su piscina, si lo necesitara. La energía solar, como se sabe, utiliza la energía del sol a través de paneles cada vez más eﬁcientes colocados sobre el tejado de la casa o sobre un terreno. Los sistemas de energía solar modernos pueden ahora proporcionar soluciones tanto para calentar el agua o como calefacción, dónde los necesite y cuando lo necesite. En la misma línea, los aparatos de aire acondicionado modernos pueden ser muy útiles, proporcionando aire caliente en el invierno o frío en el verano. Con un contador económico de monedas de pre-pago, puede fácilmente controlar el consumo, lo que es ideal para las casas de alquiler. Debido a que los sistemas centralizados de calefacción no han sido muy populares en esta zona de España, el mercado de aparatos independientes ha crecido. Sin embargo, una de las principales desventajas de estos aparatos es la diﬁcultad para encontrar la manera de colocarlos y que no desentonen con la decoración y estilo de cada habitación de la casa. Las calefacciones tipo panel son una excelente solución a este problema. La mayoría de los calefactores eléctricos, incluido los radiadores de aceite, se pueden conseguir en forma de paneles que quedan perfectos en la pared. Una forma muy económica y sana de calefacción eléctrica es la última tecnología en sistemas de calefacción por infrarrojos.

Este sistema ofrece aparatos con diseños exclusivos como cuadros, espejos, vasijas, columnas, pizarras, elementos de cristal y otros. Se pueden montar sobre cualquier tipo de pared o incluso en el techo. Finalmente, tenemos las chimeneas,

con puerta o las tradicionales abiertas. Estas son opciones con “verdadero calor” para calentar su casa y que quedan bien, sientan bien y son económicas tanto comprarlas como instalarlas. Con un pequeño esfuerzo, puede conseguir leña para todo el invierno (la puede ir a recoger o se la pueden llevar a casa) a un precio muy razonable. Tradicionalmente su casa en España estaba siempre fría en invierno y no había mucho que se pudiera hacer. Todo eso ha cambiado ahora y la tecnología ha proporcionado a los profesionales de la calefacción las soluciones para cada uno de sus problemas y demandas relacionadas con la calefacción. Da igual qué tipo de solución necesite, hable con los expertos. Los inviernos fríos en España son parte del pasado y ahora puede estar realmente cálido durante 365 al año. n

Historically, if you are having a house built and you are choosing a heating system during the construction of your home, you have only two main options to consider, under-ﬂoor heating or a centrally networked radiator system. With the ever increasing costs of traditional energy sources to power your central heating system, alternative renewable energy sources such as geothermal and solar are becoming increasingly popular. These provide simple, cheap, environment friendly technologies to heat your house, water and your pool if you require.

Solar Energy as you may know uses the sun’s energy through increasingly more efficient solar panels located on your roof or land. The Andalusian climate allows the maximum use of such systems and provides a very efficient supply of heat and hot water. The modern solar systems can now provide solutions for all manner of heating issues providing hot water and hot air wherever you want it, whenever you want it. Along the same vein, the modern air conditioning units can be very efficient at providing hot air in the winter as well as the cool air in summer, and with an inexpensive pre paid coin meter unit in place aswell, you can easily control the cost of useage which is ideal for rental properties. Because built-in heating systems have been so uncommon in the past in this part of Spain, the market for stand-alone units has flourished. However, one of the main disadvantages of stand-alone heaters is the difficulty in finding a way to incorporate units into the design and decor of each room in your home. Panel heaters provide an excellent solution to this problem. Most electric heaters, including oil radiators, can be obtained in the form of panel heating which mounts neatly on the wall. A very healthy and economical way of electrical heating is provided by the latest technology of infrared heating systems. Infrared Heating Systems are available in exclusive designs such as pictures, mirrors, bowls, columns, blackboards, glass elements and others. They can be mounted on any wall or even on the ceiling. And finally we have log burners and the traditional open fires. These are ‘real flame’ options for heating your home which look good, feel good and are economical to buy and install. With a little effort you can get a whole winters supply of logs (collected or delivered) at a very resonable price. Traditionally your house in spain was always cold in winter and there wasn’t much you do could do about it. Well that has all changed now and technology has provided the heating professionals with answers to every one of your heating issues and requirements. No matter what your specific heating problems are, speak to the guys in the know. Cold winters in Spain are a thing of the past and now you really can be warm for 365 days a year. n

Y tenemos una gran variedad para escoger: guantes largos que van hasta el codo, graciosas mangas de punto, y hasta el clásico cuero. Pero no los uses como una excusa para dejar de cuidar tus manos: cuando te los quites es mucho más agradable dejar ver unas manos suaves coloridas en las puntas, que unas pezuñas resecas con las uñas mordidas. Los guantes largos negros son siempre populares conforme nos acercamos a la temporada festiva y, para un look muy femenino, prueba el estilo de cuero de imitación de encajes y quizás con reﬂejos para ocasiones especiales. Claro que si los guantes de cuero negro o marrones son algo aburridos para ti, ¿por qué no optar por unos fabulosos guantes de cuero rojo para marcar la diferencia? La moda tiene una fuerte inﬂuencia militar esta temporada y los guantes no son para menos; nos encontramos con un abanico de estilos militares. Por supuesto, los de punto siguen siendo una opción clásica, barata y práctica. Y por último, ningún artículo sobre guantes estaría completo sin un toque animal, aderezado con lazos modernos, que realmente están hechos para las noches de sábado por la ciudad. a edad nos coge a todos por sorpresa, pero ahora no tenemos porqué dejar que nos ataque por la espalda. Para los que quieran mantenerse jóvenes y activos, pueden hacerlo con la ayuda correcta ayuda, consulta y tratamiento. Hay muchos expertos a mano para ayudarte con todos los aspectos de los tratamientos anti-edad, y te ayudarán a encontrar los tratamientos y soluciones que mejor se ajusten a ti y a tus necesidades. Of course yoga, pilates and if you are strong enough even the gymnasium can help in your anti ageing battle. On a more scientific note, anti ageing hormones are often controversial but can be a great weapon in the battle against ageing. You will be amazed at just how many health related problems can be solved with hormone treatments. Naturally this requires the advice of experts and should not be entered into without the proper medical supervision. In terms of the visable signs of ageing that stare back at you in mirror, these can be erased altogether with the right treatments. Facial peels and dermabrasion techniques quite literally erase facial wrinkles giving you a more youthful appearance. These peels quite literally uncover a more youthful skin beneath the surface and actually speed up the skin’s natural rebuilding process. And then there are the cosmetic surgery techniques like Botox and so called

Desde su impresionante pasado histórico hasta hoy día, Vélez Málaga es una ciudad tan diversa como interesante. Robert Harding descubre justamente qué es lo que hace que sea tan popular.

élez-Málaga is the administrative centre of the Axarquia and the largest of the region’s towns. Today Vélez-Málaga is home to some 60,000 inhabitants working and living throughout the district. With that number increasing each year it is one of Andalucia’s fastest growing towns. The history of the town can be dated back to prehistoric times. Although like many towns and villages of the region, it is the remains of the Muslim occupation of Vélez-Málaga ending in 1487, which is still most evident in the town today. Most noticeable of the towns links to it’s Arabic past is it’s most visible land mark, the 13th century Moorish hill top fortress La Fortaleza which stands high above the old town district. For most of its history the economy of Vélez-Málaga has relied heavily on agriculture, where cultivation and farming of the fertile plains around the town and along the valley of the Rio Vélez has led to all manor of crops being successfully produced. Although now very much in decline, during the last century Vélez-Málaga became known for its sugar cane reﬁneries and olive oil processing plants . Like most of the region Vélez-Málaga is now looking to the tourism and leisure industries to provide employment and future prosperity for the town. As a result there is an ongoing programme of restoration works and new projects funded by the Ayuntamiento which are both improving the town’s amenities and maintaining its cultural heritage and at the same time adding to the town’s overall appeal. Sightseeing: There are a number of places 52 OCIO magazine

of interest to visit including some of the town’s numerous churches which through their various architectural styles help to plot the town’s history. The centre of town is Plaza de Las Carmelitas and here you will ﬁnd not only the Ayuntamiento but also the Convento de Jesus, Maria y Jose often referred to as Convento de Las Carmelitas. The convent was founded in 1669 and of particular interest are the historic paintings housed there. The land mark of Vélez-Málaga is undoubtedly La Fortaleza and Murallas Arabes or moorish town walls which date from the 13th century and are located in the old Arabic quarter of town. The tower was restored in 1992 and, whilst not open to the public, the surrounding gardens make for a pleasant spot from which there are some spectacular views across the Vélez-Málaga and Torre del Mar area. In the centre of Vélez is the modern theatre Teatro del Carmen which has a regular programme of performances. These include traditional and classical music concerts, ﬂamenco acts and literature readings. In addition, regular art exhibitions are held both at the Palacio de Beniel in c/ Plaza Palacio and the Sala de Exposiciones in c/ Las Tiendas. Shopping: As you would imagine a town the size of Vélez-Málaga has an excellent selection of shops, throughout the town and also at the nearby shopping mall El Ingenio. The weekly market calls on a

Thursday but there is also a daily covered fruit, vegetable, ﬁsh and meat market located in c/ Poeta Joaquin Lobato. Eating out: Eating out in Vélez-Málaga can be a low-key affair centered mainly around the town’s numerous tapas bars and cafés or it can be as elegant and stylish as you wish. There are several excellent fried ﬁsh restaurants, restaurants serving local cuisine, the occasional restaurant offering a more international cuisine and numerous tapas and coffee bars in which to enjoy a little time out from your shopping. n

élez-Málaga es el centro administrativo de la Axarquía y uno de los pueblos más grandes de la región. Vélez tiene actualmente una población de 60.000 habitantes que trabajan y viven por toda la zona. Población que aumenta cada año, siendo uno de los municipios con más rápido crecimiento de Andalucia. La historia se remonta a los tiempos prehistóricos. Aunque como muchos otros municipios y pueblos de la zona, los restos más evidentes hoy en día son los de la ocupación musulmana de Vélez-Málaga que finalizó en 1487. El más notable de los vínculos a su pasado árabe es su monumento más visible, el recinto fortificado musulmán La Fortaleza situado en la parte alta del casco histórico. Durante la mayor parte de su historia, la economía de Vélez-Málaga se ha basado en la agricultura; el cultivo y labranza de las fértiles planicies que la rodean y se extienden a lo largo del río Vélez han producido cosechas importantes. Aunque ahora es un sector en declive, durante el siglo pasado Vélez-Málaga fue muy conocida por sus refinerías de caña de azúcar y plantas de procesamiento de aceite de oliva. Como casi toda la zona, Vélez-Málaga ahora mira hacía el turismo y la industria del ocio como fuente de empleo y prosperidad. Como consecuencia hay en marcha un programa de restauración y nuevos proyectos patrocinados por el Ayuntamiento que tienen como fin la mejora de los servicios y el mantenimiento de la herencia cultural así como el incremento del atractivo general del municipio. Recorrido turístico: Hay un buen número de lugares de interés para visitar incluyendo algunas de sus numerosas iglesias, cuyos diferentes estilos arquitectónicos dan una idea de la historia de la ciudad. El centro

del municipio es la Plaza de Las Carmelitas donde encontrará no sólo el Ayuntamiento si no también el Convento de Jesús, María y José, a menudo llamado Convento de la Carmelitas. El convento de fundó en 1669 y son de particular interés los cuadros históricos que alberga. El monumento más famoso de Vélez-Málaga es sin duda La Fortaleza y las Murallas Árabes que datan del siglo XIII y se encuentran localizadas en el antiguo barrio árabe de la ciudad. La torre se restauró en 1992 y, aunque no está abierta al público, los jardines que la rodean constituyen un agradable rincón desde donde podrá disfrutar de espectaculares vistas de la zona de Vélez-Málaga y Torre del Mar. En el centro de Vélez, se sitúa el moderno ediﬁcio del Teatro del Carmen, que ofrece un programa habitual de eventos que incluyen conciertos de música clásica, actuaciones de ﬂamenco y lecturas literarias. También puede encontrar, exposiciones

de arte en el Palacio de Beniel (calle Plaza Palacio) y en la Sala de Exposiciones (calle Las Tiendas). Compras: Como podrá imaginarse un municipio del tamaño de Vélez-Málaga tiene una excelente selección de tiendas, extendidas por toda la ciudad y también en el centro comercial El Ingenio. En el mercado tradicional de abastos (calle Poeta Joaquín Lobato) podrá encontrar a diario frutas, verduras, pescados y carnes; y los jueves podrá disfrutar del mercadillo semanal. Restaurantes: Salir a comer en VélezMálaga puede ser una experiencia sencilla o muy elegante. Hay una gran variedad de restaurantes de pescado frito, de comida casera así como de excelente cocina internacional. Naturalmente hay numerosos bares de tapas y cafeterías en donde disfrutar y descansar los días de compras y de visitas turísticas. n OCIO magazine

hopping in Málaga is a fascinating mix of the old and the new. Years ago shopping for the malagueños was a fairly low-key affair but economic booms and the increase in tourism, has resulted in more contemporary and chic shopping options, including international chains and shopping malls. If this all sounds worryingly anonymous, don’t worry. Málaga is still home to plenty of small individual shops, many of which have been in the same family for several generations and seem to charmingly thrive on selling just one or two specialties. It is this diversity in era and style that is one of the great aspects of shopping here; the fact that right next to a cutting-edge designer boutique you can still ﬁnd a stuck-in-a-time warp haberdashery buzzing with elderly ladies scouring racks of buttons, bobbins and bows. In addition there is an increase in enterprising individuals opening interesting

and unusual new shops that would be quite at home in New York or London. If it’s swanky shopping and chic boutiques you want then head for Marqués de Larios. It is trafﬁc-free and luxurious with glossy marble pavements and expensive shops. On either side are alleyways and tiny squares and a number of additional retail outlets, bars and restaurants. There is also the central indoor market which is absolutely not to be missed. Even if you don’t plan to buy, Malaga is a window-shopping wonderland. After the shopping, no doubt thoughts will turn to being watered and fed and there is ample choice when it comes to food and drink in Málaga. Due to the many different cultures that have passed through Málaga, the region has a long and varied history when it comes to cuisine. From Phoenicians, Romans and Greeks to Moors, all have contributed to Malaga’s recipe book not only with ingredients, but with cooking styles too. Malaga has plenty of interesting and traditional bars and eateries to enjoy. Friendly hospitatlity and a warm welcome comes as standard to regulars and visitors alike, so there is no need to feel out of place. If there is one thing the Malgueños do well it is entertaining... so go and enjoy! n

2 veal eye-rounds (usually 12oz. Each)

8oz. Brown sauce

12 lonchas de queso Fontina (aprox. 60 gr cada una)

Salt and pepper to taste

Olive oil to sauté

Cut the veal into equal pieces (about 2oz each). You want to pound this out paper-thin. The easiest way to do this is to put plastic wrap down on your cutting board or counter, put the veal on the plastic and then cover the veal with more plastic. The plastic will allow the meat to expand rather then tear. Lay out your veal and place a sage leaf on each and cover with a slice of Prosciutto. I like to give the package a little pat to keep it together. Lightly dredge in flour and sauté in olive oil. Make sure you sauté the ham side first! Veal in this stage takes no time to cook so if you do the ham side first, you will heat the ham through and force the flavour of the ham and the sage into the veal. Before you flip veal, season with salt and pepper reducing the amount of salt you would normally use because of the amount of salt in the ham and cheese. My personal preference is to use no salt at all. Flip the veal and saute quickly for a minute or two. Now is the time to put the cheese on and you could do that if you were cooking one order but since we’re doing four orders it would be best to transfer the veal to a sheet pan and melt the cheese in the broiler. When cheese is melted, shingle (overlap) three pieces per plate and ladle 2oz of brown sauce (or veal demi-glace) on top. 58 OCIO magazine

Corte la ternera en filetes iguales (de unos 60 gr). Para darle unos golpes y extenderlo lo mejor es poner papel transparente de cocina sobre la tabla o la encimera, poner encima el filete, cubrirlo con más papel transparente, así se extiende y no se rompe. Extienda los filetes, coloque una hoja de salvia y una loncha de jamón sobre cada uno. Harinar ligeramente y saltear con aceite de oliva. Asegúrese de hacer la parte del jamón primero. La ternera no tarda mucho en hacerse, entonces si hace la parte del jamón primero, éste se calienta y el sabor del jamón y la salvia pasan al filete. Antes de darle la vuelta, salpimentar, teniendo en cuenta que el queso y el jamón ya le añaden algo de sal. Yo prefiero no poner sal. De la vuelta a los filetes y déjelos un minuto o dos. Ahora es el momento de poner el queso. Para pocos filetes, puede poner las lonchas en la misma sartén; para más cantidad es mejor ponerlos en una bandeja de horno y derretirlo en el grill. Cuando el queso esté derretido, colocar tres piezas por plato y servir sobre los filetes 60 gr de salsa “brown sauce” (o salsa “Demi-glace” de ternera).

pain produces an astonishing 40 million hams a year, including excellent varieties of the famous jamón serrano made from the dry-cured legs of the white pig and produced in regions such as Teruel and Trévelez in eastern Spain. But, it is to the west you have to look for the ﬁnest jamón, to the vast tracts of land known as the Dehesa, an ecosystem of prairielike grazing land dotted with encina trees, known as holm oak in English, which once covered almost 90% of the country but now only remains in the regions of Salamanca, Extremadura, Andalucia and across the border into Portugal. fat pigs with slender legs are known simply as “pata negra” because of their trademark black hooves. The production of jamón ibérico is strictly regulated, more so than any other food I had ever encountered. The Denomination of Origin (DO) covers four regions. To the north, Salamanca and the town of Guijuelo, home of Joselito, arguably the most famous name in jamon and certainly the best known to ham lovers in the UK. To the west, the province of Huelva and particularly the town of Jabugo. To the east there is the less well-known denomination of Valle de Los Pedroches and finally, bordering on Andalucia, is the dusty region of Extremadura known also as the home of the conquistadors, Cortez and Pizarro. Although each region would claim that the hams they produce are the finest, the rules which govern their production are the same and the end results indistinguishable to all but the most experienced palate. Iberian piglets are fed on a diet of cereals and acorns until they are nearly 18 months old. The final three months or so of their lives are spent out in the Dehesa during what’s known as the montanera, a period from October 1 to January 1 when acorns fall from the oaks. The pigs must feed on enough acorns and reach the DO-specified weight of 160kg to gain the coveted title jamón ibérico de bellota. The regulations also specify that there should be no more than two pigs per hectare of land to ensure that each pig can eat the required amount of between 6 and 7kg of acorns a day. The acorns from the encina oaks are rich in oleic acid, the same chemical which can be found in olives. The flavour finds its way into the fat of the animal, so much so that the locals refer to Iberian pigs as “olives with legs”. The curing and ageing of the hams is no less important than the rearing and butchering of the animals. The front legs, the paletas, and the rear legs, the jamones, are chilled overnight to allow them to firm and then covered in Andalucian sea salt for approximately one day per kilo 66 OCIO magazine

They are then washed and hung to dry allowing the natural flora to form on the surface. This final part of the curing process can take up to three years, after which they are ready for sale. But not before one final check from the DO inspectors, who test the hams one more time by inserting a sharpened beef bone and sniffing to check the quality of the cure. The results of this five year journey from the Dehesa to the plate are incomparable. The oleic acid in the acorns on which the pig feeds makes the fat of the jamón ibérico de bellota one of the truly magical tastes sensations as it dissolves in your mouth. The depth of flavour in the meat is like no other and the combination lingers like a fine wine. n

Los ultimos tres meses de su vida más o menos, lo pasan en la Dehesa durante lo que se conoce como montanera, periodo del 1 de Octubre al 1 de Enero cuando las bellotas se caen de los robles. Los cerdos deben cebarse con bellotas hasta alcanzar el peso especificado por la DO de 160kg para ganarse el tan codiciado titulo de jamón ibérico de bellota. Las regulaciones también estipulan que no

puede haber más de dos cerdos por hectarea, asegurando que cada cerdo coma la cantidad requerida de entre 6 y 7kg de bellotas al dia. Las bellotas de los robles de encina son ricos en acido oleico, el mismo compuesto quimico que se encuentra en las aceitunas. El sabor llega hasta la grasa del animal, tanto es asi que los de allí llaman a los cerdos ibericos “aceitunas con patas”. El curado y envejecimiento de los jamones no es menos importante que la crianza y matanza de los animales. Las paletas, patas delanteras y los jamones, patas traseras, se dejan enfriar durante la noche para que la carne coja ﬁrmeza, despues se cubren con sal gorda Andaluza durante aproximadamente un dia por kilo. Luego

e recently had the pleasure of an evening at Restaurant First, the new and exciting Cocktail, lounge bar and restaurant in Nerja. Our evening began in the stylish lounge bar sipping a Mojito or two and enjoying the complimentary tapas as we relaxed in the comfortable black leather sofas whilst chatting and listening to the jazz music piped throughout the bar lounge before making our way downstairs to the restaurant. As you would expect the food is absolutley fabulous with a creative menu designed to encourage you to take a small step out of your comfort zone and try dishes like the Men’s Pork Chop (min. 500G) with fried potatoes and the Fillet Steak with Rasped Black Trufﬂes, a Chili Chocolate Sauce and Blue Potato Puree Of course there are some dishes based on classics to enjoy aswell like the Fillet of Salmon with Spinach, Pasta and Pepper Sauce and the King Prawns with Ajoli and Bruchetta. The wine list is comprehensive and well balanced creating a perfect match to the cuisine. The ambience is stylish but relaxing and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and mulitlingual and work hard to make sure you enjoy your evening. Whether you are visiting just to enjoy the

location with a cocktail or drink from the bar or whether it is a sit down meal with all the trimmings, this is a wonderful new meeting place for family, friends and lovers to spend time together. It is very easy to ﬁnd - attached to the Marinas de Nerja hotel and apartment complex just off the N340 coast road as you enter Nerja from the Torrox direction. n
