At age twenty-one, Pema got married. Over the next few years, the couple had two

children, and the young family

moved to California. She began studying at the University of California at Berkeley,

graduating with a bachelor’s

degree in English literature and a master’s in elementary

education. After graduating

from UC Berkeley, she spent

years as an elementary school teacher, wife, and mother of

two children for many years in

between both New Mexico and California.

In her mid-twenties, Pema Chodron's marriage dissolved, and she remarried. Then, eight years later, that relationship also fell apart. “When my husband told me, he was having an affair and wanted a divorce,” she said in an interview with Bill Moyers, “that was a big groundless moment. Reality as we knew it wasn’t holding together.” To cope with her loss, she explored different therapies and spiritual traditions, but nothing helped. Then she read an article by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche that suggested working with emotions rather than trying to get rid of them, and this struck a chord. She has said, however, that at the time she didn’t know anything about Buddhism and wasn’t aware that a Buddhist even wrote the article. But things changed for her dramatically the day Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche visited her classroom to talk to her young charges: He became her first root teacher, and, with his encouragement, she pursued the monastic life, ultimately taking full ordination.

Continuing her exploration, while in her mid-thirties, Pema traveled to the French Alps and encountered Tibetan Buddhist teacher Lama Chime Rinpoche with whom she studied for several years and had what she has described as a “strong recognition experience.” He agreed to her request to study with him in London, and for the next several years she divided her time between the U.S. and England. She became a novice nun in 1974 while studying with Lama Chime in London. His Holiness the Sixteenth Karmapa came to England at that time, and Pema received her ordination from him. As full ordination is denied to women in the Tibetan tradition, Pema didn’t think she would ever take the full bhikshuni vows that would make her an entirely ordained nun. A Bhikkhuni is a fully ordained female monastic in Buddhism. Male monastics are called bhikkhus. Both bhikkhunis and bhikkhus live by the Vinaya, a set of rules. Until recently, the lineages of female monastics only remained in Mahayana Buddhism and thus are prevalent in countries such as Korea, Vietnam, China, and Taiwan, but a few women have taken the full monastic vows in the Theravada and Vajrayana schools over the last decade.

But in 1977, the Karmapa encouraged her to seek out someone who was authorized and willing to perform the ceremony. This search took several years and finally brought her to Hong Kong, where in July 1981 she became the first American in the Vajrayana tradition to undergo bhikshuni ordination under the Sixteenth Gyalwa Karmapa, head of the Tibetan Kagyu lineage. When in the U.S., she lived at Chögyam Trungpa’s center in San Francisco, where she followed Chime Rinpoche’s advice to study with Trungpa Rinpoche. She and Chögyam Trungpa had a profound connection. He had the ability; she has said, to show her how she was stuck in habitual patterns and aspects of her life. Trungpa Rinpoche supported Pema when she decided not to remarry or to get involved in another relationship. “My real appetite and my real passion were for wanting to go deeper,” she told Lenore Friedman in Meetings With Remarkable Women. “I felt that I was somehow thick and that to connect really… with things as they are… I needed to put all my energy into it.” For Pema Chodron, This meant, in 1974, to be ordained as a novice nun. There is a story of a woman running away from tigers. She runs and runs, and the Tigers are getting closer and closer. When she comes to the edge of a cliff, she sees some vines there, so she climbs down and holds on to the vines. Looking down, she sees that there are tigers below her as well. She then notices that a mouse is gnawing away at the vine to which she is clinging. She also sees a beautiful little bunch of strawberries close to her, growing out of a clump of grass. She looks up, and she looks down.

She looks at the mouse. Then she takes a strawberry, puts it in her mouth, and enjoys it thoroughly. Tigers above, tigers below. This is the predicament that we are always in, regarding our birth and death. Each moment is just what it is. It might be the only moment of our life; it might be the only strawberry we’ll ever eat. We could get depressed about it, or we could finally appreciate it and delight in the preciousness of every single moment of our life.”

This search took several years and finally brought her to Hong Kong, where in July 1981 she became the first American in the Vajrayana tradition to undergo bhikshuni ordination. At the request of the Sixteenth Karmapa, she received the full bikshuni ordination in the Chinese lineage of Buddhism in Hong Kong. Ani Pema served as the director of Karma Dzong in Boulder, Colorado. The next big step in Pema Chodron’s life was to help Trungpa Rinpoche establish Gampo Abbey in Nova Scotia. In 1984, at Trungpa Rinpoche's request, she found Gampo Abbey, the first monastery in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition intended for Western monks and nuns. As the director of the Abbey, she was interested in helping establish Tibetan Buddhist monasticism in the West, as well as continuing her work with western Buddhists of all traditions, sharing ideas and teachings. The Abbey, completed in 1985, was the first Tibetan Buddhist monastery in North America for Western men and women. But from that isolated spot-where, she spends a good deal of her time even more isolated in solitary retreatshe has become one of the most influential spiritual teachers of our time.

Pema Chödrön has written several books: “The Wisdom of No Escape”, “Start Where You Are”, “When Things Fall Apart”, “The Places that Scare You”, “No Time to Lose”, “Practicing Peace in Times of War”, “How to Meditate, and Living Beautifully”. All are available from Shambhala Publications and Sounds True. Pema Chodron’s’s first book, The Wisdom of No Escape, was published in 1991, followed by Start Where You Were in 1994, and When Things Fell Apart in 1997.

Pema Chödrön's earthy, insightful teachings moved readers, and her retreats were suddenly full to overflowing. She was now continually being asked to give talks and to take part in media events. Meanwhile, in 1994 she was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and environmental illness—sicknesses she was still struggling with when she met Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, a young Tibetan Buddhist teacher. “There was this longing that I had since Trungpa Rinpoche died—to have someone to ask my questions of,” Pema Chodron said in an interview in Crucial Point.

Pema Chödrön’s’s first book, Today, Kongtrul Rinpoche is Pema’s teacher, and she devotes herself to his rigorous training methods. She is also an acharya (senior teacher) in the Shambhala community. Pema Chodron’s best-selling books reach a remarkably broad audience, including many non-Buddhists, is a testament not only to the universal applicability of the teachings to which she has dedicated her life but also to her skill in conveying them in a way that cuts across boundaries and speaks directly to the heart.

GAMPO ABBEY Under the direction of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, the spiritual head of Shambhala International, Gampo Abbey is guided by its abbot the Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche and principal teacher Acharya Pema Chodron. That sentiment was the seed for establishing a monastery in the west. A farmhouse on the remote tip of Cape Breton Island was purchased as the first step in creating Gampo Abbey. When Trungpa Rinpoche visited the site that overlooks the Gulf of Saint Lawrence on Cape Breton Island a double rainbow appeared in the sky.

OMTimes Magazine

Life at the Abbey is very earthy and very full. Though residents might be some distance from “civilization,” because the community is busy and intimate, one rarely feels isolated. And while the silence might seem intense (until noon in the morning and after eight in the evening), and the discipline challenging (4-1/2 hours of practice each day), many find that it is that silence and discipline that lets in fresh air. Having recently celebrated the milestone of her eightieth birthday, Pema Chodron is currently spending a more significant amount of her time in retreat under the guidance of her teacher Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, though her commitment to transmitting the buddhadharma to the world will continue to result in more books, audios, and live teachings in the future. For a quarter-century now, we at Shambhala Publications have had the honor to be her publisher. The Pema Chodron Foundation is dedicated to preserving and sharing Pema Chodron’s inspiration and teachings so that they might help us all awaken wisdom and compassion in ourselves and the world around us.

Innovative new approaches to Healing as well as holistic methods for dealing with health issues and personal growth

1. Grapefruit: In a 2004 study at the Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California, researchers investigated the effect of grapefruit on weight loss and found that eating half

Omtimes.com

a grapefruit before a meal can help us lose weight. The researchers studied the effect of grapefruit capsules, grapefruit juice, and real grapefruit. All three seemed to help, but eating the real grapefruit got the best results. Grapefruits also contain cancer-fighting compounds like limonoids and lycopene, and red grapefruit has been shown to help lower triglycerides. Half a grapefruit has only 39 calories. This makes it a great breakfast food, a super snack between meals or makes it a dessert! 2 Sardines: Sardines are high in protein, which helps stabilize blood sugar, making you feel full and helps stimulate metabolism. They’re a great source of omega-3s, which not only strengthen the cardiovascular system but also are helpful in boosting mood. Sardines are also free of contaminants, such as mercury and heavy metals. 3. Pumpkin: is considered one of the greatest weight-

loss foods ever. Canned pumpkin is absolutely loaded with fiber and has only 40 calories. Dozens of studies show that high fiber intake is associated with many health benefits, including weight management. Pumpkin is also among the easiest food in the world to prepare. You can sweeten it with your favorite low or 0-calorie sweetener, sprinkle it with blood-sugarlowering cinnamon and nutmeg for good measure, throw in some healthy almonds and make it one of the best tasting weightloss Treats around. It’s filling and delicious. Makes a great dessert, snack or side dish. 4. High-protein diets are associated with weight loss for a variety of reasons: Protein stimulates metabolism, helps you feel full longer and helps decrease the desire to overeat. Protein is important because it allows the brain to synthesize the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine, which help keep your mind attentive

and alert. Excessive protein levels make the organs of digestion work much harder to process this food and rob your energy stores. Find the balance for YOU. Listen to your body! It will tell you what makes you feel good and what does not. Especially in the long term. Consider these great protein foods such as lean beef, lean pork, chicken, turkey, salmon, tuna, and sardines. 5. Carbohydrates provide glucose for energy. Excessive carbohydrates can increase blood sugar levels to dangerous levels, which then makes your body shut down to protect itself. Again, find the balance that is right for YOU. Listen to your body! It will tell you what makes you feel good and what does not. 6. If you have issues with excess heat, (sweating, red face, red skin, inflammation) look at eating foods that have a cooling nature. If you have an excess cold (cold fingers, toes, hands, feet, cold

abdomen, especially below the navel), look at eating foods that have a warming nature. Neutral foods help to regulate our system. 7. Green Tea is a natural weight-loss stimulant and is a great slimming solution Green tea is rich in antioxidants, promotes heart health, assists digestion and regulates blood sugar and body temperature. It raises the metabolic rate and speeds up fat oxidation, and therefore helps people lose weight. Drink it daily to boost your metabolism. Some research has shown that five cups a day is the magic number for a fat loss. As an added benefit, the theanine in green tea is also a great natural de-stressor. 8. Apples and Pears are both great foods for boosting metabolism and weight loss. Apples contain naturally-occurring chemical compounds known as phytochemicals, polyphenols, or flavonoids, some of which have been proven to have

antioxidant activity that inhibits, or scavenges, the activity of free radicals in the body. Cell damage from free radicals can be a factor in certain cancers, heart disease, strokes, and other conditions. The major antioxidant components in apples are polyphenols contained mainly in the skin known as quercetin glycoside, phloretin glycoside, chlorogenic acid, and epicatechin. Water-rich fresh fruits such as pears will dilute the calories in your foods, so you can eat more and not overdo the calories. This high fiber fruits are nutritious and keeps the digestive system on track as well as helps to steady the insulin levels, which is going to prevent fat storage. Overweight women who ate the equivalent of three small apples or pears a day lost more weight on a lowcalorie diet than women who didn’t add fruit to their diet, according to researchers from the State University of Rio de Janeiro. Fruit eaters also ate fewer calories overall.

9. Soups are super! According to a Penn State University study, soup is a super appetite suppressant because it’s made up of a hunger-satisfying combination of liquids and solids. In the study, women chose one of three 270-calorie snacks before lunch. Women who had chicken and rice soup as a snack consumed an average of 100 fewer calories than those in the study who opted for a chicken and rice casserole or the casserole and a glass of water. 10. Low-Fat Yogurt has shown to boost weight loss efforts, according to a study in the April 2006 issue of Obesity Research. People on a reduced-calorie diet who included three to four servings of dairy foods lost significantly more weight than those who ate a low-dairy diet containing the same number of calories. Low-fat yogurt is a rich source of weight-lossfriendly calcium, providing about 450 mg (about half the recommended daily

Omtimes.com

allowance for women ages 19-50) per 8-ounce serving, as well as 12 grams of protein. It includes calcium, protein and a ton of other nutrients as well as good bacteria for your digestive tract. Water should be a very important part of any nutritional program. 6- 8 8 ounces per day. Water allows for the cleansing and hydrating of the system. It is also filling and a good substitute for soda or sugarladen drinks. Although it may seem counterintuitive, drinking water helps you burn fat. Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake, will cause fat deposits to increase. Without water, the kidneys cannot effectively filter out the waste products and other chemicals which build up in the bloodstream and interfere with the liver’s ability to metabolize fat. As a result, you become more likely to store fat and less likely to burn it. Ironically, drinking more water is the BEST remedy for water retention. When your body is

Omtimes.com

low in the water, you retain pockets of salt and water under the skin, as a defense mechanism. For your body does not know when it will get its next drink. This stored water and salt under the skin will create puffiness and looks like fat. Drink plenty of distilled water or low sodium water and avoid high- sodium foods. The FDA recommends limiting your intake of fat to 65 grams per day. By safely and carefully selecting your foods so that your fat consumption is about 30 grams per day, you can see a significant amount of weight loss, depending on your body mass index. Consume lean sources of protein such as skinless white meat poultry or fish, with fibrous water-rich vegetables such as string beans, tomatoes, cucumbers. Protein shakes or meal replacement bars work well as one of your small meals. Be aware of the carbohydrates in most bars and shakes for they can be extremely high. Medium to

low amounts of carbs 2-14 grams a bar is sufficient. Reducing fat in the diet is an important component of weight loss. Foods with a high proportion of calories from fat should be eliminated or limited in the diet; these include red meat, poultry skins, dark poultry meat, fried foods, butter, margarine, cheese, milk (except skim milk), junk foods, and most processed foods. Vegetable oils should also be restricted, as should nuts, seeds, and avocados (although these foods are healthful for people who have no Weight problem). Instead, the diet should be based on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and non-fat dairy products (and low-fat fish for non-vegetarians). Hydrogenated oils are very bad, for two reasons. The first reason is that hydrogenated fats are saturated fats, and saturated fats raise total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. The second reason is that hydrogenation also produces what is called

“trans fatty acids. Although these are unsaturated, with one double bond, they act the same as saturated fats. Some margarine are now available without trans fatty acids, these are better. A lot of convenience foods are made with hydrogenated fat, like cookies, crackers, etc. This increases the shelf life of the product but is bad for human life. Good question. We need labels that show amounts of trans fat as well as the amount of hydrogenated fat. A reduction of 25% of total calories will usually promote slow, steady weight loss. For some, weight loss is easier by changing the dietary content. By this, I mean reducing carbohydrates by 25%-30%. In my opinion, for the longterm, it is important not to increase fat when decreasing carbs. Most people who restrict carbohydrates tend to maintain the same total daily calories by increasing dietary fat. Avoid all bread and pasta (flour-containing carbs) and unprocessed sugars.

Diffusing Power of Prayer Wheels By Shakti World

Prayers are a Mystical contemplative exercise, and it is part of the practice of major religions. The Islam calls to prayer 5 times a day; the Jewish have the tradition to pray three times a day, and the Buddhists use prayer wheels to send their intentions for Increase of compassion and of relief of suffering to the Spiritual Plane. In a diverse way, prayers are

Omtimes.com

the most common of human spiritual activities. The prayer wheels function the same way as the Prayer Flags, diffusing the prayer energy throughout the environment. The custom to use the Prayer Flags comes from Tibet and dates back to the 11th century. It was the great Indian master Atisha (982-1054) who taught his disciples how to print prayers and mantras on pieces of cloth from engraved wooden blocks. None of our actions are sterile. Whether they are body, word or mind, all produce effects according to the nature of the motivation that arouses them. Following this elemental logic, printing sacred texts with a pure intention is a source of positive energy, which naturally produces beneficial effects. Also, the wind that comes in contact with the flags on which are printed sacred symbols and symbols also comes in contact with everything. It is the air we breathe, the oxygen that dissolves in our blood, the carbon dioxide that plants use. Just like a small device can make negative ions and make

the atmosphere healthier, the wind, from a simple technique and without danger to the environment, in contact with sacred symbols, spreads everywhere our vows for good and for the temporal and last happiness of all beings, thus creating a vast positive field. A Prayer Wheel (mani korlo, in Tibetan) is a cultural object used by practitioners of Tibetan Buddhism. The Ancient traditional Prayer Wheels is composed of a chamber containing mantras (sacred words) that rotates freely on a vertical axis. According to the beliefs associated with this holy object, turning the Wheel has the same spiritual value as reciting the mantras prayer. The Prayers thus diffuses in the air as if it were even pronounced. The Mantras or Power Words, sometimes seed sounds are written on paper, rolled up or also carved, which when turned start emitting subtle energy, capable of generating health, peace, balance, and vitality for all. Tibetans believe that when you turn the prayer wheel, instead

Omtimes.com

of reciting just one mantra, you are reciting all the thousands of mantras contained in the mantras roll inside the drum chamber. This increases your positive energy; this energy can be dedicated to own intention or to benefit other beings. Nagarjuna, one of the leading Tibetan masters, states that the printed mantras have as much power as the recited ones. And, according to Him, the fact of running everywhere allows benefits to spread beyond time and space. Photographic films of mantras are also used so that more mantras can be placed inside the wheels. The Prayer Wheels are often arranged and aligned in long series to be set in motion, one by one, by the faithful who pass before them. The believer rotates the wheels always with his right hand. The Wheel of Prayer must be turned clockwise so that the mantras are read in the sense in which they were written. In Buddhism, it is believed that the more one recites the mantra

Omtimes.com

Om Mani Padme Hum, the easiest it is to contact the Bodhisattvas. These wheels can be found in various temples and Sacred living spaces. Embedded in the Tibetan Buddhist culture, the prayer wheels invite those who see them, to turn these Wheels so that their prayers can multiply and rise above our daily levels. A Prayer Wheel corresponds to a cylinder containing mantras (sacred words), written on paper, rolled up or even carved, which when turned is subtle emitting energy, capable of generating health, peace, balance, and vitality for all. In Tibetan monasteries, billions of prayers per minute are raised to the skies by the monks who, in turning their Prayer Wheels, bring balance primarily to the planet. These blessings can be for ... healing, peace on Earth, elimination of negativity, longevity, and knowledge of Buddhist teachings. The wellknown Compassion Mantra: OM MANI PADME HUM is written several times and placed inside the Prayer Wheels.

Chöd has long been a way of seeking direct and personal experiences of mind and divinity outside of conventional and institutional frameworks. In Chöd practice, the yogi [male] or yogini [female] journeys into the night world – the dangerous region of ghosts, spirits, and the damned, to bless all souls, lost for a time on the wheel of existence. The selflessness of the practitioner's compassion, his or her contact with spirits of the other-world, and the making of himself into a vehicle of healing, all tend to become a path for the hero to win the noetic Mind-Jewel of true awakening. Chöd is a practice that combines Buddhist meditation with ancient Tibeto-Siberian shamanic ritual. The “liturgy” of Chöd is sung to the accompaniment of drum, bell, and thigh-bone horn. The word “Chöd” means to cut through, to “chop,” and what is chopped is ultimately the Ego. Initially, this begins with cutting all attachments to the body and to material things. When identification with the finite mind-body complex is let go of, then the pure awareness is set free to perceive reality as it really is. The whole world becomes potent as a place of blessing power and knowledge.

One needs to eradicate unfavorable delusions and hindrances and accomplish favorable conditions to realize and manifest perfect awakening. Adverse conditions are all harmful habits that conceal the pure vision of reality. There are three types of unfavorable conditions: (1) Delusions caused by past evil deeds, (2) Delusions that are present and manifest as disturbing and therefore harmful emotions. (3) The illusion of not knowing the true nature of all things. These delusions need to be purified.

Furthermore, a disciple needs to accumulate favorable conditions, accomplished by practicing the six paramitas. The six paramitas that bodhisattva practices to achieve the highest goal of awakening are generosity, ethical conduct, patience, joyful endeavor, meditation, and wisdom-awareness. The first paramita (“perfection) is transcendent giving that dissipates scarcity and wants that beings living in poverty endure. General generosity is giving clothes, food, medicine and other everyday necessities to those who are destitute.

Note: To practice ChĂśd, the sincere disciple must have received transmission and permission from an authentic lineage-holder. The transmission is a spiritual blessing that is passed down in an unbroken lineage, and as such protects the student on this quite advanced path of practice.

"Real Spiritual Love " ASCENDIGHEARTS.COM

Can The Spirit World Help Us? By John Holland

Many people believe that the Spirit World is part of our world. As a practicing medium, I believe that in reality, we are and always will be part of their world. The Spirit World is our real home. We all came from that divine place, as it’s made up of God, The Divine Source, Angels, Spirit Helpers, Guides, our loved ones, and our friends. They are made of the same energy as you, and that beautiful spiritual force that Omtimes.com

binds the Universe and heavens is also part of you. It’s the power of love that constantly keeps us connected to one another. One of my favorite sayings that you will often hear me repeat during my demonstrations is: “Those in the Spirit World want to talk to you—as much as you want to talk to them!” They want to help us, gently guide us and inspire us to be all that we can be here in the physical world. Sometimes

we simply just have to ask. Those in the Spirit World cannot interfere with the karmic lessons you’re meant to experience in this lifetime, as these are the specific lessons you must learn on your own for the evolution of your soul. But the spirits can definitely assist you in various areas of your life through guidance, inspiration, divination, synchronicity, dreams, and the power of grace. I trust that those in the Spirit World have a higher view of all things and a deeper appreciation of the situations that are occurring in your life. It’s for these reasons that I felt inspired and compelled to make sure that, in my new book: ‘Bridging Two Realms – Learn to Communicate With Your Loved Ones On The Other-Side’ I included many ways that our loved ones send us answers to your request. You may not always get what you want – but you will get what they feel you need. Plus, the answer could possibly show up unexpectedly ways that you might not expect. They do hear us and know what is going on in our lives and do try to help. Many people get signs, guidance, or answers to their requests, but

when the answer arrives, they often just put it down as a coincidence! We all need little divine assistance sometimes in our lives. There are so many challenges we face on a daily basis, and no matter how much experience we have, often turning to Spirit for guidance and clarity can be a source of great comfort. JOHN’S LESSON I have been working as a Psychic Medium for over two decades, and from my experience and years of learning and connecting with the Spirit World, I feel these loving beings really can support and assist us and help us with our spiritual growth. It’s just about having the right mindset to be open, to watch for and trust your own intuition in all areas of your life as you move forward here on the physical plane. You have more help than you could ever imagine! Just reach out to those in Spirit with love and your heartfelt thoughts and questions, and you’ll be amazed by how they’ll respond and meet you halfway. Live a Soul-filled life!

OM Living For those living a more Conscious Lifestyle

Find The Joy In Teaching Your Passion By Liesha Petrovich

It’s so easy to get caught up in the day to day grind that we forget our quest of consciously creating a purposeful lifestyle. Omtimes.com

The lawnmower breaks down, the dog needs a few teeth removed, and you need to plan a baby shower. Add in work,

yoga and perhaps getting the dishes done this week, and somehow you forget that your life’s purpose isn’t accomplishing your to-do list. We all get caught up in our crazy, chaotic lives. Yet, if we don’t consciously take steps to live our passion, we’ll just be surviving and not actually be living. One of my favorite ways to incorporate our passions into our everyday lives is to teach. Sharing what we love with others can be an incredible part of a purposeful life. And the best part is that anyone can be a teacher, mentor or coach today. It’s all a matter of accepting the challenging. Anyone Can Teach Their Passion I never set out to be a teacher. But stumbled into the martial arts when I married my husband, and 23 years later, I’m still happiest teaching karate to elementary school kids. Their tiny accomplishments simply make my day, and it’s incredibly rewarding when they come back and tell me how much they enjoyed taking my class years later. It’s the best job in

the world. And with today’s technology, there are no limits or boundaries on teaching one’s passion. You don’t need a special degree, just the desire to share what you love with others. In blog your Passion, Jonathan Milligan explains his goal is to teach 1000 people how to quit their day jobs and work as fulltime bloggers. In an interview with Kajabi, the platform he uses to host his membership site, Milligan explains: “Many people do not realize that when they tap into their passion and begin to share it with others, new energy starts to show up in their lives. Don’t get caught in the lie that life is supposed to be stressful and exhausting all the time. There is another way to live.” Some may want to create an online course while others may want to share helpful tips on YouTube. And the best part is there are no barriers and no limits on what’s possible to learn online. There are now teaching platforms available for anyone who has the desire to help people learn something new. Omtimes.com

Find Your Local Tribe Some people love the personal connection that can only be found when teaching face-toface. That moment when a student’s face lights up when they learn something new is priceless. Of course, it can be nerve-wracking to teach anything face-to-face, but it’s also a great opportunity to expand your comfort zone and try something new. In You Can Become More Confident, Right Now, Marcia Sirota shares how accepting challenges will help us increase our confidence: “Take on reasonable challenges, to begin with. See that you’re able to meet these challenges. Then, take on slightly more difficult challenges, and match these as well. Your confidence will grow, and you’ll create a positive spiral of doing more, feeling better and better, and being able to do even more.” Of course, you’ll make a ton of mistakes. You’ll say the wrong thing or a class plan will fall apart mid-lecture. I spoke at a parent’s group years ago and

Omtimes.com

started talking about testicles when I really meant tentacles. I couldn’t understand why the parents were laughing so hard until one explained my mistake. Learning not to take myself so seriously is one of the best lessons I could have ever learned. Start with a talk at a local nonprofit, church or community group. Think about teaching an adult-ed class or give a presentation at a festival or celebration. Offer to be an assistant for a teacher you admire or share a little about your passion with a friend. You’ll increase your confidence while sharing your passion and you’ll soon be comfortable teaching bigger classes. Still Nervous? Start a Passion Project If the thought of teaching is still overwhelming, consider starting a passion project. You could start writing a blog, create a Pinterest page to share your work or even self-publish a book. These are all great ways to share your ideas, tips or experiences with others who have the same interests.

For example, blogging is an easy, informal way to teach others about your passion. Many amazing teachers started out sharing tips on a blog. Kate Taylor, from the popular cooking blog Cookie and Kate, shares a little about her passion: “You should know that I’m totally obsessed with food. I daydream about new recipes. I devour cookbooks (I even wrote my own). I read up on food policy and nutrition. I love photographing food and hope my photos inspire you to step into the kitchen to cook a delicious, healthy meal.” While not a formal teacher, Kate teaches her readers how to create new culinary masterpieces every day. She takes them through a stepby-step process and strives to inspire others to cook healthy meals. That’s the kind of passion project is incredibly fulfilling while being extremely easy to start. Free blogging platforms like Blogger or Tumblr allow anyone to share their passion with the world without the formality of becoming an actual teacher.

Living Your Passions Maybe teaching your passion will turn into a full-time job and maybe it won’t. But that’s not the point. The goal is to find tremendous joy in sharing what you’re most passionate about. It’s about incorporating what makes you happiest into your busy and chaotic life. It’s about creating the kind of lifestyle where your passion is a priority. I know it’s easy for me to say those words and it can be nervewracking to put into action. But unless you consciously create space in your life to share your passion, you can easily get caught up in the daily grind where simple joys are overlooked in the pursuit of finishing your to-do-list. I can’t imagine a world where I don’t teach what I love. I can’t fathom not having that simple joy of making a difference in someone’s life to get me through my toughest days. So, while I know it may be intimidating at first, it’s totally worth the challenge.

When Water Is Used as a Feng Shui Remedy by Kartar Diamond

In Feng Shui practice, common remedies to balance rooms include the use of the five natural elements. The five natural elements are water, wood, fire, earth, and metal. Water is the “Shui of Feng Shui, which literally translates as wind/

water. The recommendation and application to use water should be specific and unique to the property being evaluated. There ARE bad locations for water, so it should be understood that water is not a general panacea for all Feng Shui flaws. First, let’s define water a little more thoroughly. Water is literally H2O. While pictures of water and lakes might serve some other relaxing or subliminal purpose, in traditional Feng Shui, when water is called for, the real thing is needed. Water should be clean, and I’ve noticed it is about twice as effective when it is gently circulating. The sound of water can be relaxing, and care should be taken to make sure the water does not move too quickly or make an unpleasant sound. The volume of water is also important. Many people use too little and only

get a little result. Gallons of water may be needed to make a big impact on a room, and thousands of gallons might be needed to impact a whole building. The use of blue or black color on a large scale, like a whole wall, can emit some of the water energy, but real water is preferred, as in a fountain or fish tank. The way to determine the best location for water in and around your properties, long-term as well as for annual purposes, is based on calculating when your house was built and what direction it is facing. While this is not rocket science, training is needed to understand how this is done. There are a few really good books (including mine) which reach this level of Feng Shui understanding and one should be wary of sources which try to oversimplify this practice. For example, some diluted versions of Feng Shui will

maintain that water is welcome at any entrance. Not so. In my own home, the use of water at the entrance could trigger bone or muscle problems, even legal disputes.

internet, without doing a physical exam on the patient. But regarding ANNUAL influences, water can be used some ways to enhance positives or weaken negatives.

Other simplified schools maintain that the direction of North is inherently associated with water, so they advise to place fountains in the north sector of any house. Not so. In fact, in 2018 everyone’s North sector will have an annual influence (the 5 star) which is very irritable energy and by introducing a moving water feature, one could unknowingly stir up more negativity in that area and cause someone to have an injury or set-back.

For example, the annual 4 stars (associated with romance, creativity, and travel) will be located in the direction of south in 2018 and in North in 2019. This “wood” type energy can be enhanced with water in the same way that a watered plant will thrive. To know where any directional sectors are, you need to take an accurate compass reading of the property as a whole and also know how to divide up a to-scale floor plan. Then you know the location and boundaries of these areas.

So, where can water go? The absolute best longterm location for water on any person’s property has to be dealt with individually, in the same way, that a conscientious doctor would not give advice over the

Omtimes.com

Another example is the annual 7 star, which in the east sector in 2018. This visiting energy is associated with deception, injury, stealing or betrayal. As a

“metal” type of energy, it is weakened by the presence of water. That said, I do have clients who need to use fire in the east this year, and it has everything to do with the way the annual and permanent energies intersect.

texts sometimes just refer to the ideal setting as having a mountain in the back and a stream running gently in front of a property. There are four major house types, and the mountain in back/water in front principle only applies to one of those four house types.

This is just a beginner’s expose on how water, in and of itself, is not good or bad, but WHERE you place it and what it may be doing for you, is the critical point. Like the other elements of wood, fire, earth, and metal, none are categorically good or bad elements. There is no such thing as a good or bad element. But the relationship between seen and unseen influences and even how their interpretation changes over time, all have to be factored in.

Water is the universal solvent and amazing in its own way, above and beyond its use in Feng Shui. Studies have shown that water molecules can retain memory and respond to subjective human influences. Human beings are a large percentage of water, and this is just one reason why we respond to the cycles of the moon which influence our oceans too. Water can be nurturing, reductive or destructive, as we all see examples of in nature.

There are also good locations for water outside a building. Some need water in front and others behind, even though old Feng Shui

8 Games to Create Emotionally Healthy Children By OMTimes

In the time when we use tablets to calm our children, it becomes even more vital to train our children in mindfulness and relaxation techniques. We can do this

Omtimes.com

through games that, while developing resources for children’s lives, also allow them to have fun.

the instructions, we ask her to sit on a chair two meters from the candle, which will be lit on a table.

So, given that we live in a society that encourages haste, quick stimuli, and instant gratification, it is of the utmost importance that we have at hand resources that favor and teach greater selfcontrol.

The child cannot stand or lean, so we hope he cannot put out the candle. So, we approached the table chair about a half meter. We will move the chair forward gradually until the child is able to extinguish the candle. Thus, we will have a game of about 5 minutes in which the child will acquire the ability to breathe deeply.

Thus, based on this premise, we have compiled in this article some games that serve as relaxation techniques for your children, being those in your family or not. Let’s see what they consist of: 1. Blow the candle! This game consists of learning how to breathe deeply, that is, taking a breath through the nose, inflating the belly, and slowly expelling the air as we blow the candle with the intention of erasing it. As soon as the child understands

2. The Balloon Game The balloon technique is a beautiful game that helps us to foster relaxation through proper breathing. What will we need? Just a big space and many colorful balloons. What should we do? Fill a balloon until it explodes, then fill another and expel the air slowly manipulating the mouth of the balloon.

Omtimes.com

Then we will ask the children to close their eyes and imagine that they are turning into balloons as they take in air. Then we will ask them to expel the air slowly as if they were balloons. After doing this, we will ask the children to tell us situations in which they feel like balloons, cases in which they cannot bear or tolerate something. Then we will ask you to explain how you solved this, offering alternatives if you needed help to become aware of these situations. 3. The Seed Game With relaxing background music and using a dim light, we will be mimicking the growth of a tree. We will begin by putting our knees on the ground, tilting our heads and extending our arms forward, as if we were lazy stretching cats.

Omtimes.com

We are a seed that, to the sound of music, grows and grows into a big tree with beautiful branches, which will be our arms stretched upwards when we are standing. This exercise is ideal to do with them at night, before going to bed. 4. The Turtle’s Tale The turtle’s tale, developed by Schneider, is an excellent exercise for fostering selfcontrol skills. It is the story of a little turtle that was irritated by everything and that lost control with great ease. One day, after feeling lonely and isolated, she meets a wise turtle who gives her a hint to control herself when she is angry: to enter her shell, to count herself to calm down, to break her thoughts and to relax. This tale- exercise is ideal for being told to children

between 3 and 7 years old. To facilitate the implementation of this skill, we can give them a label or a piece of paper with a turtle whenever they perform the exercise in a tense situation. We have the turtles ready to print. 5. The pot of calm We call “jar of calm” a sensory bottle. It is essentially a bottle in which we put water, liquid silicone to give density to the content and, for example, glitter. We can manufacture it with children as manual work, and it is ideal for them to contemplate it both in moments of tension and in moments that we can call “Zen.” 6. The Giant Ball Puffer Game One more resource for fun and learning to breathe deeply is the puffer game. It consists of the child holding the ball in the air for as long

as possible. Fun, is not it? This game is loved by children and is very functional to promote relaxation. 7. Kneading papers, squeezing balls, scribbling Scribbling, kneading papers or squeezing softballs like anti-stress balls is another healthy game to help children channel their negative emotions. Also, at the same time, we favor the development of fine motor skills as we help them strengthen the muscles of the hands.

8. Painting Mandalas Painting mandalas favor not only relaxation and reflection, but also able to concentrate and creative ability. In bookstores and on the internet, we find numerous suitable alternatives to games, exercises and Yoga practices for the children that they will love.

Yoga exercise has wonderful benefits for your body, but it can also improve the connection between your mind and body. You don’t need to do handstands to enjoy this benefit because the poses that require bending to the side or placing your head down can change the flow of your blood. You can use poses such as downward dog or corpse pose to improve the blood circulation in your body so that your brain is enriched with oxygen. Practicing Specialized Breathing During Yoga Exercise

Specialized breathing techniques are one of the most important aspects of yoga practice. With the proper breathing methods, you can relieve your stress after a difficult day at work or home. Relationships

The interconnectedness among all human beings and, consequently, the relationships among us are the focus of this section. The dynamics of the web of connections we make is one of the most prominent aspects of human existence: how we interlace with each other’s existence in a meaningful way.

Is the Need of Conscious Love the Consequence of Soul Maturity? By Ascending hearts

Throughout our lives, they have sold us the so-called “romantic love almost always. We read about it in several books, we surrender

Omtimes.com

to it in a thousand and one movies, in the hundreds of television series, and cheesy Hallmark films, and even through fashion and publicity. Could we say, then, that “romantic love” is a kind of fraud? Perhaps not so much, or maybe yes. Despite this, we could define it more like an “unconscious love,” since, in a way, it is no more than an idealization than concrete, and practical relationships. In these types of relationships, we tend to establish a very intense attachment and a mutual dependence that almost never ends well. It is not right to idealize love, neither to fantasize about what and how our ideal counterpart should be. Perhaps we will never be able to find it if we live by the perfect pattern we dream for ourselves. At times, it is often said that “true love

does not come suddenly to someone, it comes from within ourselves.”

That is, the perfect relationship must be constructed in a “conscious” way, with effort, dedication and emotional maturity. The “conscious” love that fears loneliness Let’s talk about “conscious” love. If you have never heard this expression, it is worthwhile to delve into it through some brushstrokes that will immediately enact what these effective relationships are that we want to describe for you: Couples who love each other in a “conscious” way do not look like halves, like half the orange they need to unite to be one person. Absolutely not. They are complete people in themselves, who do not fear loneliness, which are whole oranges. They are

Omtimes.com

able to offer their fullness and emotional maturity freely to their partners, to be mutually happy. People who establish “unconscious relationships are usually immature. They seek other people to fill their emotional voids, find a balance in their problems, and create, in turn, a generally toxic kind of addiction. For this, they have no questions manipulating, they develop subtle emotional blackmail systems, they fear to be alone again in that immaturity, in which they have not yet been able to learn to deal. However, people who see themselves as complete and lucky enough to find equally emotionally mature counterparts can create this conscious love, where everything flows organically. There are no requirements,

Omtimes.com

there are no voids to be filled, there are only a mutual trust and an understanding where, daily, true love will be built. Not an ideal, not a prototype. Just the authentic flow of love and partnership.

Conscious love does not fear How to Establish a Conscious Relationship Is it possible to establish emotional bonds that really work? Of course, yes. Building a relationship based on a conscious love, in the first place, should not start from a need to fill an emotional void since it is not a question of seeking. The moment we use that word, we show a lack, a necessity. Enjoy more of yourself, of your experiences, your day to day life. Notice that you are always learning from everything and everybody.

Look to places where you can enrich yourself as a person to mature more within. Love will come when it has to appear, but do not strive to create an ideal, do not limit your potential of manifesting a partner with some Idealized blueprint of a perfect person. To better understand, take note of the following 6 top pieces of advice:

you are afraid. 4. Never lose your imagination and your innocence when starting new relationships. Do not be afraid to make the same mistakes of the past; you learned a lot from these mistakes, and you know full well what you need now.

2. Build your emotional balance, reinforce your selfesteem, defend your values.

5. We know that, in a way, we have an idea of how we want it to be our perfect match. It is something that no one can avoid. However, if you are so discerning, be yourself the person you want to be by your side. After all, the right person will reflect on you, and you will be attracting the same energy you are vibrating.

3. It is vital that you learn to be alone; understand that loneliness is neither harmful nor dangerous. Do not try to be with anyone just because

6. Finally, always bear in mind one aspect: you are deserving of joy, of happiness and to be loved in full. Never doubt it.

1. It is best that you do not try to find the perfect person. Start for yourself, create, first of all, the person you want to be.

Being Endlessly Lonely Could Be Unresolved Childhood Trauma By Marcia Sirota, MD

And when they do connect with others, the relationships they form aren’t always constructive ones.

Omtimes.com

It seems that for many people these days, it’s gotten a lot harder to connect with others. Unfortunately, people who’ve experienced childhood trauma are at an even greater disadvantage when it comes to forming attachments. Childhood trauma can have lifelong repercussions. These can be minor to severe, depending on the severity and duration of the trauma, the presence of parental support during the traumatic events, as well as the innate resilience of the child who experienced them. In my years as a psychotherapist, I’ve noted that people with significant childhood trauma tend to struggle more than most with their relationships. These individuals have trouble getting close to other people, and when they do connect with others, the

relationships they form aren’t always constructive ones. Trauma in childhood can come in many forms. It can take the shape of severe parental neglect or abandonment; boundary violations or exploitation; constant criticism or undermining; parental addiction(s) or incarceration; physical assault or sexual molestation; experiences of profound loss or fear; or living in unstable or dangerous environments. Regardless of what form the trauma takes, a lack of parental support combined with a higher degree of personal susceptibility to the traumatic events can lead to the formation of emotional wounds, and often, disorders of attachment. In emotionally intact adults, connecting to others comes relatively easy. We meet

Omtimes.com

people, we like each other, and we form strong social bonds. In individuals who’ve experienced childhood trauma, all of these stages can be disrupted. People with a history of childhood trauma might believe that others will only want to associate with them if they’re a people-pleaser or care-taker. The emotionally wounded individual has more difficulty trusting others after the painful experiences they’ve been through. They might have a deep-seated belief that they aren’t lovable or that they’re not entitled to a loving relationship. They might be terrified of being hurt, exploited, abandoned or rejected. All of this could lead them to isolate themselves and avoid closeness with others. People with a history of

Omtimes.com

childhood trauma might believe that others will only want to associate with them if they’re a peoplepleaser or care-taker. They enter into co-dependent relationships, and when these invariably fall apart, they’re more fearful than ever of being hurt. Some of these individuals are so convinced that they’ll be rejected that they inadvertently behave in ways that provoke the other person to do this. (This is an example of how our psychological defense mechanisms backfire, giving us exactly what we’re trying to avoid.) People with childhood trauma may have deep (and valid) needs for love and nurture that weren’t met when they were growing up. Some believe that they can get these needs met in their adult relationships. This can

lead to, at best, dysfunctional relationships and, at worst, abusive ones in which a shrewd, exploitative predator takes advantage of their neediness. Individuals with emotional wounds from a hurtful childhood often feel uncomfortable around other people and don’t know how to act. They often feel awkward and anxious in social situations, leading to upsetting interactions which only reinforce their sense of alienation. These individuals have difficulty forming close bonds, either because they don’t expect people to stick around or because after everything they’ve been through, it’s difficult for them to open their heart to someone else. Sometimes, their deep ambivalence about closeness makes them behave in ways that are confusing or off-

putting to others. Some individuals with a history of childhood trauma might choose friends or partners who are hurtful or abusive. This happens because everyone prefers the familiar, and hurtful people today remind these individuals of the hurtful people from their past. Sadly, being in relationships with hurtful people can make trauma-sufferers that much more fearful about getting involved with the next person, resulting in further social withdrawal. Loneliness is very much a part of our modern society. More and more, our “relationships” are carried out through social media as opposed to in-person. More and more, we’re so busy and over-extended that we have little time to spend with the people we care about.

The Seven Essene Mirrors An Overview of Greg Braden Work Omtimes Staff

The Essenes constituted an ascetic Jewish group or sect which existed from around 150 BCE until AD 70. They related to other religious-political groups, such as the Sadducees. The name Essene comes from the Syrian term asaya, and the Aramaic essaya or essenoí, all with the meaning of doctor, passes through Greek orum (Greek Therapeutés), and, finally, by esseni of Latin. The Essenian form is also accepted. The Essenes have left us a beautiful analysis of human relationships. They separated into seven categories the way we relate in the course of our lives. Omtimes.com

Wisely, they called these categories “mirrors.” Every moment of life our inner reality is mirrored in the actions, the choices, the language of the people around us. The First mirror Refers to what we send to the one who is closest, in the present moment Do we feel anger, fear? We mirror anger and fear. Do we

feel joy and happiness? We echo joy and happiness. The first Essene mirror of human relationships is that of our presence in the present moment. The mystery of the first mirror is focused on what thing we send in the present moment to the people around us. When we are surrounded by individuals and models of behavior in which the feeling of anger and/or fear dominates, or it can be of joy and happiness, the mirror works in every way, what we see in the first mirror is the image of what we are in the present moment.

Second mirror Subtler than the first, this mirror tells us about our judgments in the present moment. We can say that it refers to what is imposed on us “subtly.” They are the models that are imposed on us. This mirror suggests the question: “Am I mirroring myself at this moment?” The second essential mirror of human relations has a quality similar to the previous one, but it is a bit subtler. Instead of reflecting everything we are, it shows what we judge in the present moment. If you are surrounded by people in whom the behavior model causes frustration or triggers feelings of anger or bitterness and realizes that these models are not yours at that moment, then ask yourself,

“Are you showing me myself in the present moment?” If you can honestly say no, there is a good chance that it is showing you what you are judging at that moment. Third mirror It refers to that beautiful sensation when we look into someone’s eyes, and we are drawn to it when something magical happens, and we want to spend as much time as possible with this person. The explanation is that we find in these cases something that we have lost, that we leave behind, to survive in this world. These magical encounters mirror something we have lost, abandoned, or been taken away from. The third essential mirror of human relations is one of the easiest to recognize because we perceive it every time we are in the presence of a person and look into our eyes. Something magical happens at that moment. In the presence of this person, we feel like an electric shock, the hairs are creeping. What happens at that moment? Through the wisdom of the third mirror is allowed access to Innocence, we renounce much of ourselves to survive the experience of life. We can lose without us noticing the self-control exercised by those who have a particular “power” over us. Omtimes.com

Sometimes when we are faced with people embodying the same things that we have lost in the past and are looking for to reach our totality, our body expresses a physiological response that we understand as a kind of magnetic attraction for that person. You stand before someone, and for whatever unexplainable reason you feel the need to spend more time with that person, ask yourself, “What is this person have that I have lost or abandoned or been taken away from me? The answer may surprise you since you have almost always recognized a sense of familiarity with virtually everyone who passes you by. This is the mystery of the third essential mirror of human relationships. Fourth Mirror It is qualitatively different from other mirrors. We talk here about compulsive behaviors and addictions. In this mirror are certain behaviors that give both importance and great value, we eventually reorganize our lives to welcome them. When we talk about addiction, dependence, and compulsion, many people just imagine the drugs and alcohol, which are certainly capable of creating such behaviors.

Omtimes.com

We are not just talking about them, but some more subtle addictions, such as family control, dependence on sex and others. The Essene fourth mirror of human relations is a somewhat of a different quality. Often over the years, we adopt behavioral models that become so important that we can reorganize the rest of our lives to be able to live with them. Often such behaviors are compulsive and could influence the creation of addiction. The fourth mirror of human relationships allows us to observe ourselves in a state of dependence and compulsion. Through these feelings, we slowly give up the things that are most valuable to us. That is, as we yield to compulsion and addiction, we slowly give up the things we love most. Fifth mirror Perhaps the most intense of all mirrors, the fifth mirror refers to the way we live our lives. This mirror shows us how much our parents had influenced our lives. Heavenly Father and Mother, the masculine and the feminine, represent our parents, so everything that refers to how we live our divinity on Earth is related to our

parents. Through their relationship or from what we have learned with our parents, our beliefs and vision of God are born. If we always feel judged or have the feeling of “not being able or sufficient in what we do,” it reflects our relationship with our parents. This allows you to see better and more deeply why we live life in a certain way. The fifth mirror shows us our parents and the interaction with them. This mirror asks us to admit that our actions about us reflect our beliefs and expectations regarding what is sacred to us, namely our Heavenly Father and Mother, the Sacred Masculine and The Sacred Feminine aspects of our Creator. It is through our relationship with our parents that we realize our beliefs and expectations about God, the creator, or what is most important to us. Sixth mirror Called “dark night of the soul,” this mirror reflects that through challenges and difficulties we can overcome with grace and ease. Each difficulty shows us the possibility of overcoming and reaching higher levels of mastery. In this mirror, we can lose everything we have, be naked before the “dark night of the

soul” to find trust in Life. The sixth mirror of human relations has a rather sinister name, it is known by Ageless Wisdom as the “Dark Night of the Soul.” It means that every challenge we face in our lives is a test. These are lessons we must learn to “develop” our soul. However difficult it may be, we must always act calmly, wisely and even a little coldly, not reacting to things, so that we can finally learn from that experience we are going through. Is exactly as Albert Einstein said that it is at the time of greatest crisis that we grow and learn more. Seventh mirror It is the subtlest and often the most difficult mirror to be accepted. It asks us to believe that any experience in our life is perfect. No matter the result, here we are invited not to follow the limits imposed by others. The only goal and point of reference in our life must be ourselves. It is the simplest, and perhaps the most difficult to be believed. The seventh mystery of human relationships shows you that everything that happens in your life is in Divine Order. Just know this and manage your feelings about events. The Universe takes care of everything entirely.

the beautiful knowledge of the Universe, this planet and the Heavens beyond our understanding. Our brains have the potential of unlimited creation. Everything we think builds the energy of positive or negative force. The power of this energy can change the molecular structure of water and living cells. Healing frequencies during meditation and guided energy sessions with directed thought have proven to have profound effects on the human body and spiritual consciousness. Scientific studies have proven with the monitoring of the EEG the heart emits a certain frequency from 1015 millivolt and meditation can increase this to 3 whole volts. Everything is energy! What you think, you create. This might be a debated subject, but it

has to be understood through experience to really appreciate the creations of our energetic thoughts. There is a light emitting from everything on Earth. Every living thing has a touch of stardust is said. Our brains contain the beautiful knowledge of the Universe, this planet and the Heavens beyond our understanding. We can train our brains to remember that what we think can be brought into reality. Negative thoughts can affect the body in ways that may be unintentional. Athletes know the power of mental conditioning. It can make the difference between losing and winning a game. Focus brings in possibility. The brain takes the possibility and puts it in action. Molecules dance into line as they form a pattern of recognition. Actually visualizing a win and how it will happen. Being “in the zone means you are almost experiencing things in slow motion as they manifest into real action and result. When vocalists hit that high note or harmonize with one another, the chills they feel started with the thought of harmony. Rehearsal of an event before it happens helps the brain react in positive ways. This

even works for many women in childbirth. They are able to “psyche themselves out from pain and lessen the time they are in labor by focused intention. The brain activity has been measured to be the same whether we are actually doing it or just visualizing doing it. Our thoughts are electrostatic and magnetic. Hypnotism, the power of suggestion, creative visualization are all methods of teaching the brain to reroute the signals back to positive healing. We really do possess the power to create our environments individually and collectively. Together we are learning to come together in positive intention for the healing of the world. Protection of our children and the animals that live on this planet are so important to directing our thoughts on a change to result in positive actions

to follow. We are learning the benefits of gathering together again in missions of mercy and compassion for others. If we keep the truth of trust, charity, integrity, and love for others in our lives, we can call out that which lowers our vibration and stalls our spiritual evolution. What can be seen and understood can be transformed back into light energy. It starts with the vibration of thought. Judi Lynch is a psychic medium, intuitive counselor, healing channel, and author. Personal Growth & Development

We grow as individuals as we face challenges and overcome life’s obstacles. This section is dedicated to helping you chart your course.

Starting a Journey To Personal Freedom

Although personal freedom is defined differently for everyone, one common piece could open us to a world, unlike anything we have experienced before. Allowing

freedom to heal and serve us for our greatest good. Is personal freedom our fourth dimension? Personal freedom is something that we all want more of, regardless of how it is individually defined. Even though we all have had the feeling of being connected and on top of the world from time to time, we miss it when we are detached. The day to day tasks and challenges quickly pull us into the world that we call our own, and it is there that overwhelm sets in. In that space of freedom, we feel a great deal of control elegantly mixed with a humble experience of surrender. There is no greater feeling of personal power than that which gives us peace and the knowledge that everything in that moment is just as it should be. No matter the challenges and the long list of things to keep up with. Personal freedom can be defined differently by each of us, but the common thread that knits together a communal understanding that requires no exchange

of words is choice. However different our existence is from others, we all have an equal opportunity to embrace the moments that will refresh our minds of what great peace can be had just by allowing awareness. But, when life throws more than we can handle, good or bad, we too easily get lost and crave the freedom we justify being taken from us. When we feel that something so wonderful is missing, it’s assumed taken because the only alternative is owning the discard. Indeed, the suffering, however minute, has to be because of a source outside of ourselves. It’s easier that way. If freedom is what we seek; if it is what we chase through everything we do, then why do we use our everyday life as an excuse for that freedom to have to be chased at all? Why can’t we simply allow both the grind of living and the serenity that is so dear to our spirit exist in the same place? If all is one and not separate from anything else, then this too should be. It is perfectly human to be Omtimes.com

so busy that we lose track of what it is that we are busy for. To thrive, achieve and receive what we need and desire doesn’t require a constant motion of activity that we only believe will take us where we want to go. It takes an understanding of what we value. The value can show up in many forms that don’t require our identity to be defined by something external to our most authentic self. It can present itself in a simple gesture that was given enough attention to notice. It can be in the way that the wind blows through the leaves of a tree merely for the decision to look up instead of ahead. Imagine the ability to experience another dimension being added to our 3D life. A dimension that is strictly for the purpose of experiencing freedom. One that we can connect with at any time because it is a committed part of our being. This aspect of our existence is available for all of us. It only has one requirement; that we grant permission for it to live and bring to life a new perspective.

While the dream of the planet is to see peace, freedom and love for all, it needs to come from every morsel of our society to be successful. Stress reduction that doesn’t require medication, the release of pain without intervention and hearts filled with gratitude just waiting for the next opportunity to give, and only because it feels so good. This is personal freedom, and it starts from inside. To be selfish enough to take as many mindful moments that one can find is probably one of the most selfless things we can do for each other. Maybe we will get lucky and realize that we can accomplish just as much and even more without missing out on what we value most. 6 ways Personal Rituals can Neutralize Negative Motivation By cathedral of the soul

How would you evaluate your life? Are you willing to spend a little of your time, every day, for you to have the experience that most people do not have? Think about this question for a moment. Let it go deeper. You end up becoming what you Omtimes.com

repeatedly do. Acquiring knowledge does not mean necessarily that you are growing. Growth only happens when what you know changes your daily life (most people miss the second part). And it’s not funny how, day after day, nothing changes, but when you look back everything is different? This is the power of daily rituals. Now, it’s time to think about personal rituals - the little things you do every day. Because these little things will define who you are. Regardless of your unique life circumstances, or how you define success, you do not become successful abruptly. You become successful over time based on how you trust yourself and how you practice rituals that neutralize negative motivations. Failure occurs in the same way. All your little daily shortcomings (with what you do not learn and grow) come together and cause you to fail. You keep voiding purposedly to do the things that need to be done. One day you may

wake up, and your professional life may have gone south. It was not just an unexplained and random incident. Your life is your “business!” And your rituals make you successful or break you, gradually. Even the seemingly insignificant routines in which you get involved can produce waves of consequences, for better or for worse. So how have you administered your rituals and therefore your life? Are these little things you’re doing everyday working for you or against you? If you think the answer may be the last, then you will find incredible value in the little daily rituals listed below. This means practicing each of these rituals gradually - one at a time, one day at a time, and then letting them build one over the other. Go from zero to six over six months, or maybe less, but certainly not in one go. First Personal Ritual: Allowing things to be as they are. Some things in life are worth changing. Most things do not. Omtimes.com

Let it impact you for a second. “If you want to rule the animals, give them a bigger pasture.” This is a quote I heard several years ago during a group discussion focused on the power to change your attitude about the things you cannot change. Or do not need to change. To let animals roam in a large parcel of grassland, as a way of consenting them to flow and to have movement, enabling things to be as they are. Instead of trying to control something, you’re letting go, giving you more space – an open grassland, an open canvas. The animals will be happier; they will roam and do what they naturally do. And your needs will be met as well; you will have more room to be at peace with the way the things in life are. This same philosophy holds true for many aspects of life, going back and allowing certain things to happen means that these things will take care of themselves. You will have less stress (and less to do) and more time

Omtimes.com

and energy to work on the things that really matter and the things that you can really control - like your attitude toward everything. T This way of letting it flow does not mean that it is giving up anything. It is about giving in any obsessive “hot button” to a particular person, results, and situations. It means appearing every day in your life with the intention of being your best self and doing the best you know, without waiting for life to go a certain way. The energy of someone who aspires to create something beautiful is far more powerful and rewarding than someone determined to create results with a desperate “must-be” mentality. To genuinely allow brings inner peace and joy and lets us not forget that our outer lives are a reflection of our spiritual state of being. Ritual Number 2: Slow down, Just try to do one and only one thing at a time. Try to slow down the pace you live your life. Try to not

multitask a lot. Do you get access to social media on your phone when sitting while spending time with family and friends? “Do you have lunch at your table or eat a meal?” “Is the TV always on at your house, even when you’re busy doing other things?” - Do you send an occasional text message while driving? The higher cost of doing several things at once like these (assuming you do not need text and make from time to time) is a gradual decline in your productivity and long-term happiness. When you get into the habit of persistently dividing your attention, you are partially engaged in all activities, but rarely focus on any of them. And this vertiginous lack of focus eventually causes you to stumble and fall to your knees. That is the power to focus on one thing at a time. Your daily opportunity is to realize that you are the magnifying glass in your own life and that you can intentionally focus the energy you receive from the world on a single sheet at a time. Ritual Number 3: Do things

for yourself -Wash your dishes. Yes, I literally want you to wash your dishes. It’s just a small step forward: when you take your breakfast, wash everything you used. When you finish drinking your afternoon coffee, clean the coffee maker and your mug. Do not leave dirty dishes in the sink or counter for later. Wash them immediately. Form this little ritual, one bowl at a time, one day at a time. After doing this for a while, you can begin to verify that the sink has been cleaned as well. Then move on to other things. Put your clothes where they were stored when you take them off. So, start doing some situps every morning. Have some vegetables for dinner. And so on. Do only one of these things at a time, and you will begin to build a healthy ritual of practicing self-discipline, and finally, you will know that you are able to do the things that must be done, and finish what you start. But again, to begin with, just wash your dishes. Clean them and try to wear a smile, while you do it.

Ritual Number 4: Reflect upon your actions-Start Journaling.

significant difference in the real world in your life.

JK Rowling keeps a Journal. Eminem keeps a diary. Successful people around the world consistently make positive changes in their lives - reflect daily and learn from their life experiences. They usually use their journals to achieve this. If you are trying to get somewhere in your life, you need a map, a kind of a GPS and your journal is going to be that to you. Journaling is Your treasure map. You can write what you did today, what you tried to accomplish, where you made mistakes, and more. It is a place to reflect. It should be a place to capture essential thoughts. It’s a place to choose where you’ve been and where you want to go. This way, as your time is spent focusing on your inner realms, journaling will help you to organize your mind and your thoughts, and it will send ripples to the world around you. When you bring clarity to your life, you bring your best in everything you do and improve the world you live in. Journaling, no doubt can and will really make a

Ritual Number 5: Gratitude Ritual before bedtime

Omtimes.com

Gratitude is the key to abundance. Consistently neglecting things in your life is a tragedy, also very debilitating attitude. This is one of the pillars of negative motivation. When you get lost in concerning thoughts, and lower types of interactions about a life situation you think you “should” have, you miss the beauty of everything you have. And you will never be happy if you are not consciously grateful for the good things in your life. Here’s a super simple fiveminute daily gratitude exercise that works wonders for hundreds of people and coaching clients over the last decade: Every night, before going to bed, think and write down three things that went well during the day and its causes. Just provide a short explanation for every good thing you

experienced. That’s it. We spend tens of thousands of dollars on expensive products, extravagant properties, classy cars, and expensive vacations in the hope of increasing joy. To Trust Yourself Again Renewing your self-confidence is imperative, it is one of the most significant hidden benefits of practicing the daily rituals mentioned. In fact, what I did not have before learning to implement these types of daily routines was the confidence that I was able to achieve positive results in my life. I had failed so many times in the past, and I was so discouraged that I began unconsciously to choose procrastination for future attempts to keep the promises I made to myself. I lost confidence in my abilities and in myself. It’s as if someone else is continually lying to you - inevitably you stop trusting it. The same applies to the promises you make to yourself that always end in deception. Eventually, you cease to believe in

yourself. You must restart trust yourself gradually, with small pledges, small steps (your daily rituals) and small victories, because not keeping promises to yourself is negative motivation. This process takes time, but this happens relatively quickly if you focus on it. And it is undoubtedly one of the most important things that can change for ourselves Ritual Number 6: The ritual of bringing awareness to your “Hot Buttons.” Most of the things we try desperately to keep, as if they are real, stable, and enduring in our lives, are not there. Or if they are there in some way, they are changing, flowing, not permanent, or only, imagined in our minds. Now, I challenge you to ask yourself consciously: - What are you desperately trying to handle in your life now? “How is this affecting you?” So, imagine that the thing you are trying to ensure does not really exist. Imagine letting go and just float.

When you look at the view of Earth from space, you are immediately in awe of what you do see: the incredible beauty of Creation. It is not until you look closer that you realize what you do not see. You do not see lines partitioning countries. You do not see separation between races. You do not see division between religions. You do not see the walls people build to isolate themselves from each other. There is only One Planet. There is only One Humanity. This section is dedicated to introducing thoughts and ideas to foster a greater understanding of Humanity’s interdependence.

H. RIDER HAGGARD: An Africa of his imagination

― H. Rider Haggard, She: A History of Adventure

“Yea, all things live forever, though at times they sleep and are forgotten.”

“H. Rider Haggard (22 June 1856-14 May 1925) whose birth anniversary we note was a British lawyer and writer whose best known novels are King Solomon's Mines (1885) and She (1887) (1). At the early age of 19 he went to South Africa as a secretary to the Governor of Natal, now KaZulu-Natal. It was a crucial period in South African history.

On the edge of Natal, the Zulu tribes had been structured into a kingdom by their charismatic leader Shaka before he was assassinated in 1828. Ten years later, 1838, there was the decisive battle at Blood River between the Zulus and the largely Dutch Boars who, in the Great Treck, were moving north. In Netal, there was the start of indentured labor from India to work on the sugar plantations. There was also the start of British, largely Protestant, missionary activity. Many of the missionaries believed that Africans could best adapt Christianity as part of a larger cultural package which included literacy, European clothing and family patterns. The missionaries of the time were largely hostile to indigenous culture.

Haggard was always a reflection of his nationality and social class. He saw the Zulus as "noble savages", the English colonial administration as "enlightened" and the Boars as dangerous racists who would sooner or later - probably sooner - cause trouble. In South Africa, Haggard began a life-long interest in landholding laws and practices. He wrote administrative studies of land issues in both South Africa and England. He later served on Royal Commissions dealing with land and property laws in England. He received a knighthood for his work on British land law issues.

However, it is as a novelist interested in psychic phenomena, reincarnation and dangerous sexual passions that interest readers today, especially She. Freud recommended reading She in his The Interpretation of Dreams calling it " a strange book, full of hidden meanings". C.G. Jung frequently referred to She as one of the most vivid literary representation of the Anima, the eternal feminine aspect within all, both men and women. She is the story of an immortal love, a passion stronger than time itself. Ayeska, a queen whose face is always hidden by veils and is known to her subjects only as "She-who must be obeyed" has been waiting for 2000 years so that she can be reunited with the reincarnation of the man she loved and tragically killed in a moment of anger Haggard's story is filled with images of evolution for spiritual growth, of reincarnation, and the new role of women. Ayesha, a white woman, is queen of a lost civilization in Africa.

By Rene Wadlow, President , Association of World Citizens

Haggard was a life-long friend of Rudyard Kipling whose India had somewhat more reality but was also colored by colonial imagination. The psychic aspect of Haggard's writing was found in certain other writers and intellectuals of the period. The sexual aspect was highly sublimated; passion rarely followed by acts, but was there none the less. Haggard's novels have often served as a base for films but are worth reading as books.
