Marianne Williamson: The Politics of Love Interview by Victor Fuhrman When I grew up in the 1960’s and seventies, there was a sense of rebirth and renewal in our country. Many of us started looking upon one another and brother and sister and embraced the ideas of sharing, caring love and peace.

We lived these ideals as best we could with the hope that future generations would equally embrace them. Somewhere along the way, we have strayed from that path. We have birthed a generation of divisiveness, egobased actions, and fear. Is there a way that we can return to the spirit of embracing diversity, caring for one another and moving from fear to love? My interviewee this week, Marianne Williamson, says there is. Marianne Williamson is an internationally acclaimed lecturer, activist, and author of four #1 New York Times bestselling books. She has been one of America’s most wellknown public voices for more than three decades. Seven of her twelve published books have been New York Times bestsellers, and Marianne has been a popular guest on television programs such as Oprah, Good Morning America, and Bill Maher. A quote from the megabestseller A Return to Love, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure…” is considered an anthem for a contemporary generation of seekers.
Marianne’s other books include The Law of Divine Compensation, The Age of Miracles, Everyday Grace, A Woman’s Worth, Illuminata, Healing the Soul of America, A Course in Weight Loss, The Gift of Change, Enchanted Love, A Year of Miracles, and Tears to Triumph: The Spiritual Journey from Suffering to Enlightenment. Her newest book, A Politics of Love: Handbook for a New American Revolution, will be published soon. Marianne is a native of Houston, Texas. In 1989, she founded Project Angel Food, a meals-on-wheels program that serves homebound people with AIDS in the Los Angeles area. To date, Project Angel Food has served over 11 million meals. Marianne also co-founded the Peace Alliance. She joins us to discuss her new book, and her exploration of a possible run to become the next president of the United States. Welcome, Marianne. MARIANNE WILLIAMSON: Thank you so much for having me.

VICTOR FUHRMAN: So wonderful for you to join us and share your plans. Share with our readers who are meeting you for the first time about your early life and path. MARIANNE WILLIAMSON: Well, when you were talking in your introduction about the fact that you grew up in the ’60s and ’70s, so did I, and I was impacted just as you were by the flower child generation, the hippie scene. However, you know, a young man said to me about a year ago at one of my lectures, he said: “You know, you’re just an aging hippie. Your generation was just about sex, drugs and rock and roll.” My response to him was: “That was just part of the day. The rest of the day we stopped a war, and what have you done, by the way?” This was a generation which talked about all the things you were talking about. We would meet Ram Das and Alan Watts in the morning, but we would attend anti-war protests in the afternoon. I think many people today, younger people certainly, can’t imagine, perhaps, what it meant when there was a Draft. These Omtimes.com
wars were not just over there somewhere in a far-off part of the world, fought by volunteers. They were fought by brothers and cousins and sons and fathers. The issue of the war was far more urgent. So that was what I grew up with. I grew up in time, as did you from what you were saying when there was very easy compatibility between what was a spiritual and philosophical expansion at that time and a very, very potent and urgent sense of political activism VICTOR FUHRMAN: Absolutely. A Course in Miracles is the foundation of much of your work. How were you called to study it, and what led you to lecture and speak on these materials? MARIANNE WILLIAMSON: I first saw A Course in Miracles on someone’s coffee table in New York City in the 1970s, and I had already been ever since I was a teenager very much interested in philosophical, spiritual pursuits; anything that had to do with the higher mind. I have always been equally drawn to Eastern and Western
traditional and esoteric traditions. None of them have ever seemed in conflict with any others to me. I have a very natural embrace of this comparative religious and spiritual variety that makes up the great spiritual and religious traditions of the world.
So, for me, it was a very personal excitement, a very personal passion, and also at that time, the kind of career that I had did not exist. There was no career niche that now, you know, is a mainstream, cultural impulse: the non-denominational spiritual wise woman. That did not exist.
However, until I found A Course in Miracles the issue of practicing these principles provided challenges that I had not been able to overcome. I’m not saying I’ve completely overcome them to this day. I’m not an enlightened Master, but when I read A Course in Miracles, it was the first time where I got a sense of how these great and higher principles of universal spiritual truth were applicable on a practical basis. Before that, I didn’t understand that the search for God and the search for communion with other human beings was the same search. I didn’t know that the spiritual path was my reaching out across the world that I had constructed in my mind that separated me from other human beings. So, A Course in Miracles meant so much to me. Now, the Course, you know, it does not claim to be for everyone, but if it’s for you, you know it.
So, I had no ambition for a career goal based on this, and I think that was a blessing in my life. I just was so excited when after I had been studying the Course for five years I had moved to Los Angeles, and there’s a place still owned, of course, in LA called “The Philosophical Research Society.” When I was working there, in their book publishing department, they had these lecture series. The woman who was the President at the time of PRS asked me if I’d like to start giving lectures on Saturday mornings based on A Course in Miracles. I’d been studying the Course for five years, and I was just so excited to have the opportunity to do it. I had no concept that it would be more than just a spin I did because I loved it. Not too long after that, the Omtimes.com
AIDS crisis blew up. Gay men in Los Angeles gave me what would be a career. So, at that time, this then-young woman was talking over in LA who was talking about a God who loved you no matter what, and who worked miracles, and so suddenly, my little talks began attracting more and more people and went from there. VICTOR FUHRMAN: Did you ever imagine – you alluded to this – but did you ever imagine you would become a world leader in consciousness and spirituality? Was that ever your goal? MARIANNE WILLIAMSON: Well, that niche didn’t exist. You could be a Clergy – you know, my Mother kept saying your Father, and I have discussed it, and we will send you to Rabbinical School – and I didn’t quite see myself becoming Clergy. The other path you could take could be an Academic, you could be a Professor in Comparative Religion, and I didn’t see that for myself either. There was no reason to think it would be anything other than sharing from my heart about these books that so excited me. That was 35 years ago, the essence of it all, and it is the essence of it all even today. Omtimes.com
VICTOR FUHRMAN: We’re both grateful to you because we, both, in our later years followed an inter-faith path and were ordained here in New York, and were able to bring this beautiful message, to so many people who required that and needed to hear it. MARIANNE WILLIAMSON: Well, we’re all doing this. I mean, it’s a symphony, and it needs to be a symphony, so many people who feel called, as do you, as does your wife, as do I, to share our song which is universal spiritual truth. Whether through the teachings of A Course in Miracles, or any other path that reminds us particularly at a time like this, when humanity is so swerved away from a heart-centered consciousness. It is a calling to all of us to come back home to the truth of who you are and that will automatically repair the world. Until we do that, the world will continue to do what it’s doing now, which is in many ways spinning out of control, realms of chaos, dimensions of chaos, that are at this point threatening the survival of the human race. VICTOR FUHRMAN: Marianne,
one of your famous quotes, from your 1992 New York Times perennial bestseller Return to Love – we alluded to it in the introduction – let me read this in its entirety for our listeners. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your plain soul does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. As we let our light shine, we unconsciously permit other people to do the same. As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” VICTOR FUHRMAN: In these difficult times, do you think that this sentiment seems to be especially important to our world and that people must truly rise beyond fear and seek change?
MARIANNE WILLIAMSON: That paragraph is simply a paragraph out of many in my book A Return to Love as you said, the subtitle of which is Reflections on the Principles of a Course in Miracles. So that principle that it is our light that frightens us more than our darkness does, because the ego mind, which is how we filter most of our experience, is afraid of the light because in the presence of the light there is no ego. The ego is simply the belief that we are small, separated selves. So that which the spirit rejoices in terrifies the ego. Now, on the one hand, I understand people’s excitement about that paragraph, but I can’t take personal credit for the philosophical essence of it because all I’m doing there, as I do throughout the book, is to reflect on the principles of the Course. I will say this. As happy as I am that paragraph has meant so much to so many people, it’s important I think that we remember no one principle that is going to, at the deepest sense, liberate us from a fearful existence. Spirituality is a set of Omtimes.com
principles, so while I’m very glad that the paragraph has meant a lot to people, I think that we’re all aware that there is a deeper search involved. it is equally important to remember that our function on this planet is to forgive. It’s equally important to remember that our function on this planet is to love one another. It’s equally important to remember that our function on this planet is to give our hands and our feet, our arms and our legs, our minds and our hearts to God to use as a conduit or as a channel for the love that heals all things. I think that more and more people realize that there is no quick fix, including one paragraph that makes everything OK. The spiritual search is a deep, deep transformational process.
think that anybody who listens to my talks or reads my books is very aware that I would have moments of doubt like anyone else. The beauty of the Course is its honesty about what it takes daily for all of us to apply the principles that repudiate the thinking of the world. The answer to that is ‘absolutely, and.’ God cannot use us to do that which is not already within us, so ‘absolutely.’ I’m a 66-yearold woman. I’ve had a long and varied career. Confidence and courage, yes, but I think that confidence is based on the level of my experience, the length of my life so far, and as far as courage is concerned there are two things that I think are an issue for me.
VICTOR FUHRMAN: You are so congruent in your lectures, your writing. Let me ask you, in the exploration of this possible, Presidential run, does it require confidence and courage, or is it about following a call to action that is bigger than the person?
Someone told me that when I turned 50 that 50 is the age when you don’t care what anybody thinks anymore, and I found that to be oddly true. You’re just not as concerned about other people’s opinions after 50, but something else additional happens I found at 60, and that’s not only done you not care so much what people think about what you say, you have to say it.
MARIANNE WILLIAMSON: First, I
There’s a line in the Gospel of
Omtimes.com
Thomas where Jesus says, ‘that which is within you if you bring it forth will heal you if you keep it within will destroy you.’ So, I’m at that age. I’m at that fierce, female age. I’m at that crone age. You know, some of my girlfriends say: “Don’t use that word.” I like it, the cool crone, and the fierceness that comes with a certain kind of age. I suppose there’s a level of courage, but it doesn’t feel courageous. It just feels like you are spreading your wings at last. I’m very aware as an American woman that what we’re able to do is so far beyond what millions in this world can do regarding legal and social permission. I say things, and I do with this campaign, this exploratory, completely expect humiliation, mockery, lies, mean-spiritedness, embarrassment. People throwing tomatoes at you, but what is that compared to what some women in this world would go through if they even walked out of their house dressed the way they wanted to dress, or without the presence of a male relative. So, for an American woman, it seems there’s something that I could
never go there and think it takes so much courage. Not only are there women who could suffer the worst kind of punishment, even unto death, for doing things American women can do because we want to, or Western women can do just because we want to. So, when you look at what some women in the world dare to do, I think it would be presumptuous and unattractive for me to talk about this being the same as their courage. Chutzpah, yes, but real courage I think we’re underestimating what that word should mean. VICTOR FUHRMAN: You’ve been contributing to the transformation of individuals in our world for many years. You have millions and millions of followers who respect you and your work. Regarding your exploration of the candidacy, how do you think this will translate? MARIANNE WILLIAMSON: I don’t know, but I know that when I started my career, I never from the beginning or even today, asked myself what other people are going to think if I say what I believe. Omtimes.com
I had an interesting experience many years ago. A man who is quite famous in certain circles – I won’t say who he is – he came up to me one Saturday morning after a lecture in Hollywood in the late ’80s, and he said I want to congratulate you and I said why. He said: “I came to hear you three years ago, and I thought you were crazy. I thought you were a crazy lady out of your mind”. He said that after that about a year later my boyfriend – he said his boyfriend – went to rehab and I had to be with him and go through some sessions and because of that I went through my transformation. I came back to hear from you today, and I understand what you’re saying, and I’m so impressed that you didn’t change your language for people like me.” I always remember that. He was saying the fact that I just said what I believe without worrying about the people-pleasing that has become so endemic in our society. I think it is a corruption and I believe that enough people – and therefore I started an exploratory campaign – to see if people believe there is a contribution to be made here. All I know is that I am convicted Omtimes.com
about something in my heart. That is my firm belief that we are going in such a wrong direction in the organization of American society. We are moving so far away from the democratic values and the deeply human values that make both our country and our existence on this planet good and true and beautiful as to pose an existential threat to our democracy and possibly to our planet. Now, if other people agree with, that, they’ll vote for me. Some so many people agree with me that the mindset that ruled the 20th century, particularly the socio-economic and political mindset which has dominated the late 20th century, is not only inadequate to what we need to address the challenges of the 21st century. It is a mindset that is perilous because it’s not based on a bottom line of love or humanitarian values. It is based on a bottom line of profit maximization or huge multi-national corporations which is the fast for future generations. It is fast from the disadvantaged in our country and our world. It is a passive, and sometimes active, assault
on democratic principles. It is certainly not the way to create peace on the planet 25 or 50 years from now, and it’s not the way to in any way protect the environment. It is the assault on the environment. VICTOR FUHRMAN: Marianne, let me ask you this. You’ve recently pointed out that the Constitution doesn’t specify that a President needs to be a former Governor, or Senator, or a Politician of any kind. What are the qualifications you think are the most important? MARIANNE WILLIAMSON: James Madison wrote the Constitution. He went to Princeton. He studied Hebrew and Philosophy. He was not a Lawyer, and I think it is important for us to remember that. Regarding the qualifications for the Presidency, in the Constitution it says that the President has to be 35 years old, has to have lived here for 14 years and has to have been born here. Very significant because it was what they did not say. If they had wanted to, they would have said the President has to have been a Lawyer, had to be a Governor, had to be a Senator, and had to be a Congressperson. They didn’t because they were
leaving it to every generation to decide for itself. The qualifications that generation feels is most needed to address the challenges of their time adequately. So there’s another kind of qualification that I think is just as important. What people call the qualified Politician is someone who might know how Washington works, and I respect that, but what we need in a President now is someone who understands how we work. We are no longer functioning as democracy here; we are functioning as an Oligarchy Corporatocracy. We’re no longer functioning, in Lincoln’s words, as a Government of the People, by the People, for the People. We’re functioning as a Government where a few of the corporations buy a few of the corporations for a few of the corporations. Now one major political party is bought and sold by this corporate matrix. The other one raises its hands and says we understand your pain and does what it can to address the pain that’s on the periphery, but that party no longer addresses the Omtimes.com
fundamentals, except in some cases such as the Bernie Sanders, etc. The current Democratic Party is not addressing those fundamental issues that make all that suffering inevitable. That’s the Democratic Party that I grew up with when you were talking about the times we grew up. Bobby Kennedy. Martin Luther King. Those figures who did represent within the political sphere the larger philosophical dimensions. Even looking at the Declaration of Independence and the idea that all men are created equal, that’s the basis of all of this. That’s not a political principle or a legal principle, that’s a philosophical, moral principle that all men are created by God, that God gave all men the unalienable rights to life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and that Governments are instituted among men to secure those rights. Tell me where those millions of American children who go to school every day, at schools that do not even have functioning toilets. Millions of American, who are full citizens in this country, go to school every day Omtimes.com
in classrooms where there are not the minimum school supplies necessary to adequately teach these children. In schools where if they then do not know how to read by the age of eight, the chances that they’re graduating from High School will radically diminish, and chances of incarceration are radically increased. I’ll tell you why. The reason that the political establishment has not addressed the needs of these equal citizens is that number one they don’t vote, and number two because children do not work, they don’t have financial leverage, and if you don’t have financial leverage in Washington today, you are at the bottom of the pile. I feel that the US Government is exercising passive child abuse. Certainly, active child neglect. So, this idea that we are supposed to be so impressed by this group of experts – while there are some profound political experts in this country, don’t get me wrong – the idea that we’re just supposed to go along. I’ll tell you something else, Victor, and for anybody who’s listening who does not wish to see President Trump re-elected, no traditional Politician is going to defeat the President, and I’ll tell you why
because what Trump represents is neither traditional nor political.
this, with our connection every one of us.
The traditional, political mindset thinks it’s so sophisticated. It’s not sophisticated; it’s naïve. It doesn’t get what’s going on here at the deepest level, and if they had known what was going on beneath the surface and these psychological and emotional dimensions that emerged from the chronic, economic despair that so many Americans have been living. Millions of Americans have been living with this for years. We need to claim the realization that the chronic trauma of millions of American children is a humanitarian crisis. We need to claim the realization that spending 718 billion dollars each year on our military while reducing our funding for genuine peace-building measures, is an imperilment, a threat to the notion of peace on this planet in 50 years.
Some people are even using a very spurious notion of spirituality as a justification for political disengagement. Those days have got to end. We need something that is much bigger than electing oneperson President. We need a renaissance of political sensibility, a realization that Democracy is not something you can take for granted, any more than you can take your marriage for granted or take your body for granted. You must tend to it. So, we need an awakening that will reconnect all of this with our sense, not only that Democracy gives us rights, but that it gives us responsibilities.
We need more than just some peripheral changes. We have to put out our angel voices. We have to begin a conversation of a genuine, political renaissance in this country that can only emerge from people falling in love again with what Democracy means, with the radicalism of
We are, after all, citizens. We are ‘we the people.’ They work for us; we don’t work for them. So, I believe that I can contribute something here to the initiation to that kind of political renaissance in the United States. VICTOR FUHRMAN: With the recent passing of our 43rd President we heard a lot, whether we agreed with his politics or not, about his selflessness and deep caring Omtimes.com
for people. Do you have a Presidential role model? MARIANNE WILLIAMSON: I think Franklin Roosevelt was an amazing President. Abraham Lincoln, what do you even say about such a one as he? You look at the Founders, and you certainly have a genius cluster there, although no-one is ignoring slavery. You look at someone like Thomas Jefferson, who on the one hand gave us the enlightened principles on which we purport to stand, and on the other hand, himself owned slaves. That is the cultural DNA of the United States. We were born on one hand on these profound principles, the most enlightened principles that had ever infused the founding documents of any country, and at the same time, 41 signers of the Declaration of Independence were themselves slave owners. So that dichotomy has always been with us. In the Presidents, such as they, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington, that dichotomy was present. If I ever had the blessing and honor of being elected President of the United States, Lincoln and Roosevelt would be my role models.
Omtimes.com
Regarding what I would seek to do, whereas he had harnessed fear for political purposes, we need to harness dignity and decency for political purposes. Someone said to me today what a trickster God there is. This Presidency has caused a political and spiritual awakening in this country. There’s nothing like seeing someone behave indecently to make you think that decency matters. Someone behaves in an undignified way, and you realize, wow, dignity matters. We see someone acting in a dishonorable way, and it makes you realize, wow, an honor matters, and I think we needed that wakeup call because on some level I suppose we brought it on. We need to go back to our first principles that all men are created equal; that all men have been given by God an inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; that this is to be a Government of the People, by the People, for the People. We need to realize that if that’s true, then you protect your environment which affects the health of the people. You don’t just protect the corporate profits of the top fossil fuel companies and the chemical
companies. If that’s true, you seek ways to peace as much as to prepare for war in case you need it. If that’s true, you don’t pass tax bills that give 83%, or 83 cents in every dollar, to the very, very richest among us.
of spiritual wisdom as special. What’s special are the principles at the heart of A Course in Miracles that are the same as the principles at the heart of Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and on down the line.
There are domestic policies and international policies that are servants to casino capitalism, this is both domestically and internationally, that make a bottom line with short-term profits of casino capitalist forces. I do not think this country should be run like a business. I think this country should be run like a family, and I believe that once again the forces of Government should be at the service of the American people and to the earth which we inhabit, not at the service of just these multinational forces and their financial gain on a shortterm basis.
What matters is that we’re on this earth to love each other. Yes, that will save the world for humanity to remember why we are here and that we are brothers on this planet. So, whether someone is awakened to those realizations through A Course in Miracles, or any other, the last thing we need is for, you know, much evil has been perpetrated on this planet and continues to be perpetrated on this planet by someone thinking our way of finding is God the way. That’s not cool, and it’s not in line with the religious pluralism that is central to American liberty.
VICTOR FUHRMAN: Do you think the wisdom of A Course in Miracles can change the course of this country?
So, no, I don’t think A Course in Miracles is asking us to promote a course in miracles. The Course is very much like AA in that way. It’s much more attraction rather than promotion.
MARIANNE WILLIAMSON: A Course in Miracles is one statement of universal spiritual things. It’s not for everyone, and we don’t want to see any form
VICTOR FUHRMAN: That’s wonderful. Please tell us about your soon-to-be-published book Omtimes.com
A Politics of Love – Handbook for a New American Revolution. Please tell us about it. MARIANNE WILLIAMSON: In 1997 I published a book called Healing the Soul of America talking about the intersection of spirituality and politics, and then that book this last year was just revised and updated because even though the principles I talk about are still the same, unfortunately, the statistics were even worse. In that book, in 1997, I was talking about the Corporatocracy, wealth and inequality and mass incarceration, many of the things that we’re so stressed by today were already there, but we weren’t addressing them. You know, as someone who is trained and disciplined to look at things on the level of cause, it’s like you don’t go to a Doctor who says you have Cancer, but it’s only stage 1, so we’re not going to worry about it. I knew in the ’90s that these things were happening, and they needed to be addressed and that’s what I was writing about them. Many people were, but it was certainly not the mainstream conversation at that time. Omtimes.com
The Politics of Love gets us to where we are now, and it talks about how the revolution that we most need now is a revolution of consciousness. It’s a realization that unlike what we thought in the 20th century when we thought it was just a mechanistic universe, to change your life all you do is tweak what’s happening on the outside. Those of us who have to do with a more enlightened or spiritual approach to living know that all change comes from within. We have to change from the inside out. You can’t just tinker with things on the external plane as that’s the old allopathic model of healing where people thought I don’t need to take care of my body, exercise or nutrition. If I get sick, though, we’re told then we’re doomed, inevitably, and you seek external, allopathic means to suppress or eradicate its symptoms. We now have an integrated approach. We know that sickness is the absence of health. Health is not the absence of sickness. So, you must cultivate health in your body. Well, we have to cultivate health in our society as well. We have to cultivate democracy and cultivate justice and cultivate
brotherhood. You can’t just cultivate genuine democracy and then hope that when violence emerges because of the despair so many people are feeling, that you can seek to eradicate the symptoms through enough balms or enough prisms. So, America has to heal the same way an individual does, and that includes looking at your character defects. When America looks at our character defects, there are serious issues of race here, racial inequity in our criminal system, racial inequity in our economic system and our political system. There are many ways in which we have not yet completed the process of complete racial reconciliation.
South Dakota back, which was promised in a Treaty and then never given. We have to face the places where we as a Nation have not lived up to whom we say we are. That’s the only way an individual can heal. We have to atone for our errors, and we have to make amends where amends are possible. If you know what changes were hard, you know, you are the one who knows what would change a Nation. A Nation is a collection of individuals, and that’s why I believe that someone who has a sense of what changes people on the inside is an important part of the qualifications for a Presidency in the 21st century.
I don’t want to minimize the efforts of our ancestors, but that 40 acres and a Mule were promised and never given to a formally enslaved population, although to some, interestingly enough, it was given and, in most cases, taken back.
VICTOR FUHRMAN: Marianne, it is my fervent hope and prayer that you go forward with your exploration, find it in your heart to serve us, and become our Healer and Uniter-in-Chief. Please tell our readers one more time how they can find out more about your work and your plans.
Another area of character defects in this country has to do with a not-yet reconciled relationship with Native Americans. We could start with giving the Black Hills of

YOUR HEALTH STARTS WITH YOU! Moreover, this begins with how you think about your health and the words you tell yourself in the depths of your mind. That’s where affirmations have power. As the core of my 5 Keys to Staying Healthy, ATTITUDE is essential to how we approach our self-care. HEALTH RESOLUTIONS FOR 2019
1. Life Plan: Make caring for your health a priority in your life. I do! My other top priorities are caring for others in my world and doing a quality job in my work. Consider what your life priorities are. 2. Nutrition: Eat a balanced diet of wholesome foods for your weight and body type to maintain or achieve an optimum level of energy. Please be specific with what you know is your good foods for you to include and those you might avoid, at least temporarily, to see if you feel better on your health; or consider doing an elimination diet.
3. Personal Habits: Identify 3-4 nutrition habits you want to change or maintain this year. Since I have struggled with my weight (because I just love food), here are my nutrition resolutions: * I drink plenty of good, clean water, at least two quarts daily. * I focus my diet around vegetables, which are nutritious and low in calories.
4. Fitness: Find and maintain the right exercise program for your body to stay (or get) fit and trim, and stick with it to promote flexibility, strength, and endurance for life. What’s your best workout plan? 5. Detox: Be aware of your food and substance weaknesses and abuses such as sugar, caffeine, or alcohol. I take steps to avoid them or use them sparingly. The period from January into the warmer Springtime months is ideal for detoxification, depending on your climate and body warmth. Consider taking some time away from the foods you may have indulged in during the holidays. Throughout the year, I offer online guided detox programs. My Winter Detox starts January 9th.
* I chew my food well. By eating more slowly, I feel more satisfied and nourished with less food, and experience better digestion. * I eat minimally, or not at all, after nightfall, and ideally I eat my main nutritious meals at breakfast, at midday, or by 6 pm. What are your best health approaches? Most likely you have a keen sense of what keeps you going and know what triggers you. Start there!

In truth, our connection to spirit comes by way of looking inward. Yet subtle clues can come from external sources that intrigue us or connect to our emotions. Nature holds the secrets to so many lessons in spirituality. Not only does our connection to spirit express itself through nature, but it is also the fundamental building blocks of life’s answers. Essential oils are the actual essence or spirit of nature’s gifts. They are extracted from the flowers and herbs by way of either cold-pressing as with citrus fruits, or by steam distillation as with plants & flowers. These pure oil extracts have therapeutic properties to be used in many different forms of healing and health. Recalling a scent from a specific memory or special time in your life is a transforming experience. The Essential Oils Rose: (Rosa damascena) The mother of all flowers, the Rose has amazing powers of
love, trust, and self-acceptance. Roses are representative of faith, hope, and love and have the qualities to restore the very center of one’s being. A gentle tonic of the heart rose oil’s psychological properties lie mainly in its effect on the mind, the center of our emotional being. Rose oil calms and supports the heart and helps to nourish the soul! Lavender: (Lavender cassia) is one of the most used and most notable essential oils in the Materia Aromatica. Best known for treating burns and blisters, wounds (cell regenerator, minimizes swelling and scarring), insect bites, stings, and heat exhaustion. Avoid during the first trimester of pregnancy. Peppermint: (Mentha piperita) is the most extensively used of all the volatile oils, both medicinally and commercially. It has antiseptic properties and is effective against coughs, bronchitis and beneficial in the treatment of dandruff, eczema, and acne. The oil is particularly useful in treating stress and tension. Sweet Orange: (Citrus sinensis) is obtained from the rind of the fruit and used principally as a flavoring agent. Orange oil is an anti-depressant, antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative and digestive tonic. Orange oil helps spreads sunshine when gloomy thoughts or depression set in. It has a very Omtimes.com

Orange oil helps dry skin conditions, while softening wrinkles and dermatitis. An excellent skin tonic. Orange oil can make the skin photo-sensitive to sunlight. How to Use These Oils Essential oils can be utilized in hundreds of different ways. You can create massage blends, inhalants, rubs, compresses, diffuser blends or perfume blends. Choose the form which fits into your lifestyle and suits you best. How to Create Your Recipe Blends • Bath Blend: Add 15 to 20 drops of essential oils to a bathtub already filled with warm water. Disperse the oil in the warm water with your hand. Soak in the bath for up to twenty minutes. Repeat as needed, then cleanse your tub. • Massage Blend: Add 10-15
drops of chosen essential oil to 4 ounces of a carrier base oil such as sunflower, safflower, jojoba, or canola oil. Pour a quarter size drop into the palm of your hand and bring your palms together. Disperse the oil over the area you want to massage and rub in a circular, clockwise motion. Gently massage the area for 10-20 minutes or over the entire body for a total body massage. • Diffuser Blend: Place 8-10 drops of essential oil in the diffuser bowl filled with water. Most diffusers use a tea candle. As the candle warms the bowl, the aroma from the blend diffuses into the air. This blend can also be placed in any lamp ring or automatic diffuser. • Inhalant Blend: You may blend several essential oils together or use one particular oil. Just uncap the bottle and place it up to one nostril. Close the other nostril with your finger as you inhale deeply. Switch nostrils and inhale once more. Be sure to close the opposite nostril as you inhale. Try not to touch the bottle to the nostril for the area under
the nose is very sensitive and the oil may slightly burn or irritate the area. Repeat as often as needed. • Rub Blend: In 1 tablespoon of carrier base oil, add 8-10 drops essential oil. Massage the rub into appropriate areas for 5-10 minutes. Repeat as needed. • Compress Blend: Blend 5 -10 drops essential oil in a quart of cold water. Saturate a cloth with the water/blend mixture and apply to the affected area for at least 10 minutes. Repeat treatment often. *Perfume Blend: Blending 2 to 3 essential oils together in jojoba or sunflower oil can make a lovely perfume. Dab this delicate, concentrated mixture on your pulse points of the sides of the neck, inside of the wrists or tops of the feet. Remember the rule: Less is more. Andrew Pacholyk MS L. Healing Crisis: 3 Steps on the Path to Spiritual Awakening Courtney Marchesani
At times we are faced with a painful set of unusual physical symptoms and we land in our doctor’s office anxious. It feels that our mind-bodyspirit is not our own. Invaded by environmental toxins, our
Omtimes.com
Central Nervous System (CNS) is menaced and our doctors are puzzled to its ideology. We wear thin, wrestling with the dilemma of a healing crisis. We tell our health story and find no resolution. It retraumatizes our psyche when there is no clear outcome. We become stuck in medical limbo, awaiting results and hoping for a diagnosis. The result is a let-down when there is no clear healing path forward. A vicious cycle begins, and we become stuck between the two worlds of modern and spiritual healing. When we see a healing crisis through a spiritual lens, we can understand its purpose. This is an ancient art and over time has faced extinction. Modern medicine can’t identify the soul’s mission through an illness that indicates a spiritual calling. Often, a healing crisis indicates a more profound awakening of consciousness. There are three distinctive signs that are the stepping stones to guide us through the labyrinth of our healing journey.
Initiation, True Identity, and Acceptance Doctors look at a set of symptoms like a constellation and interpret a diagnosis. Rarely do they consider the existential reasons of a debilitating illness. If elusive, it’s labelled a mystery illness that doesn’t respond to treatment and may be a sign of initiation into the spirit world. Symptoms may be sudden, due to trauma, accident, or connected to a childhood event. It is a psychic portal to a spiritual realm where healing is waiting for exploration. It may feel like a profound identity crisis and that we are on the cusp of madness. The Initiation Initiation is an experience achieved through visions, dreams or synchronicity. Psychiatrist Carl G. Jung spoke universal symbolism and the collective unconscious which holds archetypal imagery that connects us to a universal language of symbols. Jung’s archetypal method served as an intra-psychic instinct
Omtimes.com
infused with images. These images are rooted in the psyche and connected to the universal mind. To realize our real potential, they will surface during a healing crisis. The initiation is a call from our spirit to learn who we are. True Identity When we are born into our family, there are expectations about who we should be and how we should act. While this is a positive reflection of our parents’ love, we are removed from our soul’s true path. When the soul is buried beneath our day to day lives, we miss the opportunity to learn the truth of who we are and who we are to become. The healing crisis can serve as communication to open our hearts and mind so that we can then learn about the soul’s mission or purpose throughout this lifetime. Acceptance The soul’s language is rich with a tapestry of symbolism infused with meaning. When we learn it, we can accept the spiritual knowledge that we need to serve our purpose.
Omtimes.com
Below the surface of our logical and analytical minds is right hemispheric thought. A form of processing that is less understood by science. It is a form of mental processing connected to emotion. It serves to wake us to a more spiritual world that can identify our purpose. Departed from our true selves, dependent on social norms, we live with a mistaken identity. The soul’s only option is to create a healing crisis so that it has a voice. If we listen to what is being said, we can free ourselves of the suffering that illness shares and become healthier versions of our best selves. Feeling Stuck? Let Synchronicity Help! By John Holland
On my last radio show, a woman was telling me how she felt stuck about her next career move. She didn’t know what to do. I gave her some advice that I’d heard
Omtimes.com
a long time ago which has often resonated with people: “Sometimes you have to live into the answer.” It’s not uncommon to feel stuck when you don’t know which option to take, which direction to go, or which offer is for your highest good. It happens to many people – myself included. We get caught in the trap of feeling that you have to be doing, doing, doing! By contrast, I think it’s okay to be – to pause and reflect for a while – to take stock of what works and what doesn’t. Another metaphor or saying I often use is: Sometimes it’s the right decision to grab the oars and steer yourself to a goal or desire. Yet other times it’s also okay to put the oars down and see where the current or river of life takes you. Hence the saying: “Living into the answer.” When I go through such times of feeling a little stuck, I take time out to pray, meditate, and ask synchronicity to help me.
Synchronicities and socalled coincidences are clear signs that the Divine Source is knocking on your door. Sometimes it could be a soft tap - or for those times when you’re not paying attention, it could be a loud bang! A source working through synchronicity can manifest itself in some pretty unique ways. I have my own definition and refer to them as divine nudges. Have you heard the same phrase or saying from more than one person in a day? Do the same numbers keep randomly showing all over the place? Has someone mentioned the same person you were thinking of? Have you met someone out of the blue which seemed to answer a question that you were asking yourself? These are all signs for you to pause, be open, and
Omtimes.com
pay attention – and most importantly, to acknowledge that the Divine is trying to send you a message. Also, some people unexpectedly step into your life through synchronicity. Their influence can put you on a new path, bring you an alternative understanding, or even change your life altogether. Here are a few tips from my book, Power of the Soul, that I would like to share with you. JOHN’S TIPS on tapping into & working with synchronicity The more you notice and pay attention to meaningful synchronistic events and coincidences, the easier it gets for them to multiply in your life. Notice when you run into people. Listen to what’s they say in the conversation as there could be a hidden message for you. If there’s a problem in your life, try to let it go and turn it over to synchronicity. What
Omtimes.com
you’re saying to the Divine Source is “OK, show me! Let me be aware and act when the answer or guidance is being presented to me.” Work with your journal and intuition to become even more aware when the source is knocking on your door. Believe that it’s possible. A positive attitude enhances the experience, as a negative attitude will shut it down. Synchronicities act as signposts or mile markers, guiding and directing you. They even help to align yourself with your personal growth. Notice when you’re sent such signs, signals, people, patterns, books, articles, etc. I believe they are as little gifts. These unique gifts help direct you on your path toward your goals, and they also help you follow your soul’s guidance. Live a Soul-filled life!
Nothing New Under the Year
As we enter the New Year, we all hope this year will be better than the last one, and new and wonderful things will come to us. We seek to
Omtimes.com
improve our worldly situations and become better people. But what if the most wonderful thing that could happen would be to realize that we live in a universe absolutely and eternally dedicated to our well-being? While listening to a classical music radio station, I heard the show’s host announce a cantata by J.S. Bach entitled, “The Spirit Soothes our Weakness.” I was struck by the title, as appropriate today as it was 300 years ago when Bach composed the piece. Even while Bach’s world was radically different than ours, the issues he dealt with were the same. He, too, was plagued by the insistence of the deluded self, and he, too, recognized the empowerment of a spirit-guided life. In that awakening, the apparent chasm of time dissolves, and we are joined. King Solomon said, “There is nothing new under the sun.” The more I explore what appears to be new and different, the more I realize
that, while the world goes through constant change, the truth is impeccably reliable. What works always works and what doesn’t work never works. All else is detail. It is not the parade of events that makes evolution, but the upgrade of consciousness. If there is an evolution, it is the awakening to the presence and power of a kindly reality that far transcends worldly events. Here we come to the juiciest of paradoxes: To become new, we must recognize that we never change. Healing comes in claiming our inherent eternality. The personality seeks to gain newness by manipulating people, things, and events. The soul needs no newness because it is eternally whole. The part of you that seeks change is not the part that will be fulfilled. What needs to change is to gain the awareness that you don’t need to change. I told you this paradox is juicy! A Course in Miracles tells us, “Seek not to change the world,
Omtimes.com
but seek instead to change your mind about the world.” If you attempt to change your circumstances without changing your mind, nothing will change. Change your mind, and everything around you will change. The world is not a cause. It is an effect. Edgar Cayce said, “Mind is the builder.” Time is a blank screen upon which we project our consciousness and play out our intentions. Any demarcations we make in time come only from our beliefs about it and what we wish to use it for. Most people in western culture made a big deal about the advent of the year 2000. Meanwhile, that same year was the year 5760 on the Hebrew calendar, 4697 in China, and 1420 in the Islamic religion. What year was it really? The year lives in our minds more than we live in the year. Buckminster Fuller said, “Human beings are the only creatures who tell time and think they have to
Omtimes.com
earn a living.” Whatever we think the time is, is a story we made up. Nothing happens because of time. Everything happens because of the thoughts we apply to it. The only purpose of time is to learn to use it wisely. If we are going to make something of the new year, let’s use it to discover ourselves rather than find new and more complicated ways to forget ourselves. Rather than moving more pieces around the chessboard of your activities, rise above the board so you can see it from a higher perspective. Use the year to make up a new story rather than continuing old stories that lead nowhere. A mythology expert identified 11 plot categories into which all stories fit. That’s it. So it is with life. We just keep repeating the same stories over and over again, with minor variations that make them seem different, while they are not. There are two kinds of
evolution: horizontal and vertical. Horizontal evolution just keeps playing out the ego’s beliefs and reinforcing its fearful world in more complex forms. Cavemen stockpiled rocks to throw at invaders. We stockpile nuclear weapons. Just more and bigger expressions of the same mentality. Just because technology advances does not mean we are progressing. Seven billion people thumbing smartphones does not necessarily indicate an advanced society. What people say on their smartphones demonstrates evolution or its absence. Vertical evolution is measured by the level of consciousness with which we use our tools and toys. The only real evolution is self-knowledge, awakening to you that never needed to evolve because you were created perfectly by God. The outer world is a set of props laid out according to the mind we are using. If you are going to make the new year new, recognize that time has no power over your life, but
you have power over time by recognizing you live beyond it. Pray not for new things to happen, but for a new consciousness. St. Paul said, “Be renewed by the renewing of the mind.” I wish you the best year of your life because it is the one in which you escape time and claim your eternal self. At this moment you are new because the real you live beyond time, and you have no age, history, or future. You just are. Water is an important symbol of energy movement in Feng Shui. It is important to have the representation of water in movements in
Omtimes.com
our home environments. They can come in the form of fountains and aquariums is important for the flow and activation of energies. Likewise, the fish and fishermen have particular representations. The Carp arrives there, and it is transformed into a celestial dragon. HAVE A SIZE AQUARIUM SUITABLE FOR YOUR HOME The size of the aquarium should be proportional to the size of your environment. Do not put too big fish in an aquarium, they need room to circulate. Choose those that catch your eye and make sure you choose the right type of water for them. Golden and colorful fish are benefits for the energy approach of wealth. THE NUMBER OF FISH If you want to have a traditional aquarium, choose 8 goldfish and a blackfish. Or pick 9 fish, in gold, red and black. They give enough energy from yin and yang to balance your aquarium and attract prosperity. Try to stock your aquarium with numbers in multiples of 9, making sure they can live together in your aquarium.

PLACE THE AQUARIUM IN THE RIGHT PLACE The best place to put the aquarium is near the front door of the house, it is an excellent wealth energy activator. You can also put it in the northern sector of the house, responsible for work and career, or in the eastern area, health, or southwest, family growth. Mystical Experiences of Lights in Meditation By IndiaDivine.org
Various kinds of lights manifest during meditation due to concentration. In the beginning, a bright, white light, the size of a pin’s point
Omtimes.com
will appear in the forehead in Trikuti which corresponds to the Ajna Chakra of the astral body. With the eyes closed, you will notice different colored lights such as white, yellow, red, smoky, blue, green, mixed color; flashes like lightning, like fire, burning charcoal, fire-flies, the moon, the sun, and stars. These lights appear in the mental space, Chidakasha. These are all Tanmatric lights. Tanmatric lights Each Tanmatra has its own specific color. Prithvi (earth) Tanmatra has a yellow light; Apas (water) Tanmatra has a white light; Agni (fire) Tanmatra has a red light; Vayu (air) Tanmatra has a
smoky light, and Akasha (ether) Tanmatra has a blue light. Yellow and white lights are usually seen. Red and blue lights are barely noticeable. In general, there is a combination of white and yellow lights. In the beginning, small balls of white light floating about before your eyes. When you first observe this, know that the mind is becoming steadier, and that you are progressing in concentration. After some months the size of the light will increase, and you will see a full blaze of white light, bigger than the sun. In the beginning, these lights are not steady. They come and disappear immediately.
Omtimes.com
They flash out from above the forehead and from the sides. They cause peculiar sensations of extreme joy and happiness, and there is an intense desire for a vision of these lights. When you have a steady and systematic practice for two or three hours of meditation at a stretch, these lights appear with more frequency and they remain steady for a long time. The Mystical Experience The vision of the lights is great encouragement in sadhana. It urges you to stick consistently to meditation. It gives you strong faith in super physical matters. The appearance of the light denotes that you are transcending the physical consciousness. You are in a semi-conscious state when the light appears. You are
Omtimes.com
between the two planes. You must not shake the body when these lights manifest. You must be perfectly steady in the Asana. You must breathe very, very slowly. One whose food is moderate, whose anger is under control, who has given up all love for society, who has subdued his passions, who has overcome all pairs of opposites (Dvandvas) and who has given up his egoism, gets a vision of a triangular light during meditation. Sometimes during meditation, you will see a brilliant, dazzling light. You will find it difficult to gaze at this light. You will be compelled to withdraw your mental vision of this light. This dazzling light is the light emanating from the Sushumna. You will see forms in the lights – either the lustrous
forms of demigods (Devatas) or physical forms. You will see your Ishta Devata or chosen deity in a beautiful dress with four hands and weapons. Siddhas, Rishis and other Devatas appear before you to encourage you. You will find a vast collection of Devatas and celestial ladies (Apsaras) with various musical instruments in their hands. You will also be able to see beautiful flower gardens, fine palatial buildings, rivers, mountains, golden temples, sceneries so lovely and picturesque as cannot be described. Meditation and Concentration The experiences vary with different individuals. What one-man experiences may not be experienced by another man. Many believe that they have realized the self when they get these experiences,
stop their Sadhana and try to move in the society to preach a new cult and religion in the name of Lokasangraha. This is a serious blunder. This is not a realization at all. These are simple encouragements from your Ishta Devata to convince you of higher spiritual life and push you on in your steady, systematic and continuous practice of meditation with zeal and enthusiasm. You will have to ignore these things and drive them away. You must not care a bit for the vision of lights. You must fix your attention on the Lakshya, the goal, viz., Brahman. These visions appear in some persons within a few days, while in others within six or nine months. It depends upon the state of the mind and degree of concentration.

Feng Shui: Reenergize your Home this Winter By Omtimes
Winter always ends up being a time of more stillness, of coziness and just of being. The Winter is naturally a “yin season; A quieter, more reflective period that
Omtimes.com
encourages us to spend more time in the house, with our loved ones. Winter is the season of the element water There are five elements for Feng Shui: water, wood, fire, earth, and metal. The Element Water is an essential component in the field of Feng Shui. Water represents intuition: the inner knowledge that allows the water element to guide you into a space of confidence. Enjoy the winter time to refuel, dream and plan changes to make in the next initial stages. Winter is a time when the earth breaths, like a gestation period, it prepares to sustain life for another year. It offers us particular time for introspection. By creating a cozy and harmonious home during this period, the house itself will help you stay attentive and cheerful at this time of year.
When winter seems to be creeping, purifying our homes with new energy may just be healing. Read more about some Feng Shui remedies to organize your living space making it brighter, warmer, while staying in tune with the season. Feng Shui remedies for Winter Months Clean Your Home With Citrus With the cold, we have not opened the windows for a long time, and the energy and air of our houses can be tremendously stagnant. Fortunately, there is a simple cure to raise liveliness, refresh the air and prevent the accumulation of bacteria in our homes during these months: citrus Citrus oils are more than pleasant smells. They are among the most useful essential oils. Just a few drops of lemon or orange oil will increase the power

of cleaning products. They disinfect surfaces, purify the air and release a cheerful fragrance. Besides rejoicing those who are in a bad mood. Do something new While you have more time indoors during the colder season, it is a great time to work on all the projects you were wanting to get started. Cooking is a great way to add warmth, and joy to your home. Create and try new soups and stews with seasonal vegetables is a great way to connect with nature since we cannot get our hands on the garden at this time of year. You can also try any other hobby you’ve always wanted to do Change the decoration of your home When the energy is feeling “stuck” in the winter, maybe it is time for a small change in the environments. However, instead of buying things for a new decoration, you may find that you already have what you
Omtimes.com
need. Try to move a vase, an image or even furniture from one room to another. You may be surprised how the energy changes just by moving something that has not been touched for some time, emptying it and giving it a new home. You can be inspired to redecorate your entire house with just a unique view of what you have Invite your friends to dinner. Plan to celebrate the long winter nights with friends. Make sure you invite friends to dinner and share stories around the fire. Honor the taste sensation by cooking healthy organic seasonal food such as pumpkins and Zucchini. Create a meditation chant We know that spring and summer months are full of the yang and vibrant energy, yin energy is restful, silent and contemplative. Cultivate this seasonal energy, receiving it with open arms,
which in turn will renew it for the more active seasons. It is natural to all of us to want to engage in more yin activities during the colder months, such as reading, sleeping and meditating. Create a space with more comfortable pillows or armchair and candles to feel cozier with this energy of renewal. Change Your Lamps With winter months we experience much more darkness, so we end up spending a lot more energy on interior lighting. This is the time of year to audit your home’s lighting to ensure you are using energyefficient bulbs in all of your fixtures. You can also add a few more daylight bulbs in certain areas to magnify your light entrance. Let natural light enter You should work to make the most of your full hours of light, and the best way to do that is to leave natural light instead of artificially
illuminating your space. Create a distinct area in your home that captures more sun, warm with yang warm colors like burnt orange, yellows, and reds with a heartfelt shot and cushions where you can curl up with a good book. Always have some good books. Make an assessment of what you really need Are there things in your closet that you have not used for a long time? As you redecorate and rearrange, you may find that there are some things that you do not really need. If you have not used the item in more than six months, it’s time to say goodbye. If you are only accumulating dust, you are increasing your stagnant energy and need to go. In my Feng Shui consultations, I highly recommend always analyzing what works for you, what you can donate and even reform it for something that can make you more useful. Creativity is the key!

The Seven Secrets for Success in 2019 By Marcia Sirota, MD.
People are always posting articles about the secrets to success, but many of these blogs suffer from a lack of common sense. All those tips for “quick and easy success is pandering to a segment of the Omtimes.com
population that wants to do well without having to work for it. Unfortunately, the writers of these blogs are perpetrating a common yet dangerous myth.
worked hard for it, success tastes sweet. We feel like we’re put in our best effort and it has paid off. We can enjoy and appreciate the results of all our hard work.
Only a tiny proportion of the population is super lucky, and everything happens to come easily to them. For the clear majority of us, the first secret to success is that if we want to do well, it’s going to take work.
There’s no substitute for selfdiscipline. Successful people do the work, even when they’re tired, not in the mood, or would rather do just about anything else. This quality really separates the successful people from the not-so-successful ones. Consistent effort over time is what counts; not doing the work only when we’re in the mood to work. When we can buckle down and get it done, even when we’re tired, or it isn’t fun, we’re going to reap the greatest rewards.
Here’s my 2019 list of the seven secrets for real and lasting success. Follow these tips, and you’ll be well on your way to be your best self and living your best life! Put in the time and effort. We wish it weren’t the case, but there’s no short-cut to success. Even those who are extremely talented will still need to put in the work to achieve their goals. The good news is that the more we do, the more skilled we become, so over time we’re bound to perfect our craft, whatever it is. Plus, when things come too easily, we miss out on that feeling of pride and accomplishment. Instead, we feel, deep down, like we cheated so we can’t fully enjoy our success. But, when we’ve
Silence the inner critic. For many people, there’s a voice in our head that’s always ready to put us down, undermine our confidence, criticize our efforts or tell us that nothing short of perfection is acceptable. Unfortunately, that “inner critic” won’t help us succeed. On the contrary; it can demoralize us or even paralyze our efforts. Any successful person will tell you that they don’t have or don’t listen to the negative selftalk. If you want to succeed, you absolutely must do the same. Omtimes.com
Always work toward a positive; never away from a negative. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard someone say, “I can’t mess up,” or “I can’t fail.” What they need to say instead is “I will succeed,” or “I can do it.” When we try to avoid a negative outcome, we become focused on the negative instead of putting our energy into creating a positive outcome. When we focus on the negative, we inadvertently create the negative. Success is only possible if we focus on the positive.
Persevere. Sometimes, there are setbacks. Sometimes, the challenges can seem overwhelming. We need to keep pushing through, no matter how hard it gets. The difference between the successful entrepreneur and the mediocre one is perseverance. The difference between the successful artist and the unsuccessful one is very often perseverance. We can have all the talent and ability in the world, but if we give up when the going gets rough, real success will always elude us.
Attitude is everything. An overly-entitled, spoiled brat who expects everything to be handed to them on a silver platter is not going to get much out of life. The energy we put in is the energy we get out of all our endeavors. A lazy or unmotivated person will never achieve great things. We’ve got to have the right attitude, which is a willingness sometimes to make sacrifices and give up a bit of fun to succeed. With our eyes on the prize, we’ll reap the rewards. If all we want to do is a party, the only reward will be a hangover and possibly a set of bad habits.
Resilience is key. We can’t allow the difficulties and challenges, failures or losses to stop us in our tracks. We must learn to bounce back from adversity, or we’ll never achieve real success. We need to heed the old saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” When we mess up, we can use it as a learning opportunity. When we fail, we can use it as an opportunity for growth. Instead of letting the hard times stop us, we must get up, wipe ourselves off, and keep going forward no matter what.

Cancel These Three Painful Relationship Patterns Before They Get Started By Guy Finley
Often when someone feels wronged by their partner they demand “payment for the pain they feel unjustly inflicted upon them. History proves they will argue until this well-established Omtimes.com
pattern completes itself. Unable to resolve who’s to blame for the pain, one or the other will either storm off to brood over the mistreatment or decide that “retreat” is the better part of valor and make some kind of peace offering, perhaps an apology. In the long run, neither of these “solutions” makes any real difference. Their suffering passes into the night, but not the unseen reasons for it. For our love to thrive, everything about this kind of pain-driven pattern must be shattered. Acting from any part of this old pattern – while hoping for a new result – is like polishing old shoes that no longer fit, hoping the shine will change how they feel when you put them on! Following are three simple examples of such futile actions: Painful Pattern #1: Avoiding the Issue by “Agreeing to Disagree”
Near the “end” of a disagreement with your partner that has no end in sight one might say: “Let’s agree to disagree.” Now, maybe this technique has some benefit if you’re at a party and a political discussion turns nasty. But what happens with our partner when, because of something they’ve done, or refuse to do – there’s a conflict between us – where we want them to agree that the problem at hand is their fault, but that’s not how they see it? The fallback pattern of “agreeing to disagree” does nothing to change the onesided parts of us whose false perceptions and demands set us against each other in the first place. And when similar events recur, it’s not our “agreement” that we revisit; rather, it is we who are visited by the “wind and fury” of opposing forces whose continuing collision ensures that our original confrontation goes on...and on.
Omtimes.com
Painful Pattern #2: Pretending You Don’t Care
Painful Pattern #3: Blame and Shame
Pretend that you don’t feel any pain because of whatever just happened between you and your partner – as though it “doesn’t really matter.”
Imply, or even state directly, that what’s gone wrong in the relationship is basically their fault. Try to make your partner feel guilty because they’ve been unable to satisfy the expectations you have placed on them.
Here’s why this “act as if you don’t care” routine seems to work, at first: parading an icy heart not only goes to show that you can’t be hurt, but has the added “benefit” of making your partner feel the very chill you’re giving off. Sounds strong, in theory; but, to paraphrase a timeless truth: A stone hidden beneath the earth weighs as much as one on the surface. Too soon, when this weight gets too great to bear – which it always does – everything that had been buried comes rushing to the surface. Pent-up resentment is released that’s so far out of proportion to the deed blamed for it as to shake the very core of even the sturdiest of our relationships.
Omtimes.com
This pattern of using guilt or shame to “re-shape” our partner is doomed at the outset. Even if we manage to momentarily make them into the “perfect partner,” the ensuing contentment of having our expectations met is unsustainable; not just because our partner is unable to maintain the makeover we’ve imagined will end our differences, but because there’s no satisfying the parts of us that almost always find something that needs to be “fixed” in those we love. This pattern of using guilt or shame to try to change our partner will never come to an end until we see that it’s not just our partner
who’s weaving it!
Together by Guy Finley.
Which brings us to a fairly stunning discovery: our partner is not the reason why any painful pattern keeps reappearing in our relationship.
©2018 Guy Finley. Used by permission from Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd.
To be sure, those we love are as much at “fault” for whatever makes us “crazy,” as we are driven “mad” by their actions. But, the real reason behind any escalating conflict between us is...we don’t know what to do with our own pain. Trying to escape its pressure is what pushes us to try to “remake” our partner or – at the very least – to make them “pay” for our suffering that we’re sure they’re making us feel. Seeing our own pressure and realizing it’s in our partner too is the beginning of meeting each other in a new way that can cancel these painful patterns before they get started. 8 Little Things That Happy Couples do Every Day By Ascending Hearts The way to the happiness of marriage is cherishing the little things. Once, Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States of America, said that “happiness is something that is sought, something
Omtimes.com
that is built.” Often, we waste our time in search of great things, great demonstrations of love and affection, but we neglect a truth that applies mainly to love and happiness it is through small things that great things are accomplished. When I think of the way to be happy or to build a great love, I always think of a great tree and how this marvelous work of nature, capable of withstanding storms and strong winds, came from such a small seed. This seed, little by little, grows with modest efforts to create its roots and to pierce the earth, little by little, to become something grandiose. The path to a happy life for two people also begins as a small seed and, little by little can become something beautiful. A well-nurtured love that sustains joy and grace can withstand the worst storms. Like a seed that grows little by little, we can also do at least 8 small things, daily, to make a relationship happier.
1. Stop to say, “good morning,” to say “I love you.” Some studies have already proven that the way we spend the first few minutes of a morning, or even a late afternoon at home, influences the environment that will live the rest of the day or the night. When we wake up in the morning, what’s the first thing we do? Do we choose to smile, look at our side and say a “good morning” full of love? Or when the husband (or wife) comes home will they stop for everything to give a kiss or a hug, and ask how the day went? They are small gestures that can brighten the life of a couple early in the day or at the end of a day’s work 2. Talk about your problems Arguing is synonymous with debating problems. Often issues are ignored because they are afraid of creating confusion. It is normal for a person to get angry when
Omtimes.com
something is wrong. But care must be taken to distinguish between situations that can be problematic - such as forgetting to help clean the house and leaving everything to the other party. In situations that are small and easy to solve - such as a cover out of place or a towel on the floor after a shower. Although small things can annoy them, they can, and should, be resolved with a simple conversation. The more significant problems deserve greater attention, and it is beneficial when couples debate the problems and talk about their views. What is important is to keep the following in mind: when we go to a discussion, do we want to be right or do we want to be happy as a couple? 3. Praise with sincerity and celebrate when something good happens. We often hear that mutual support is important when something goes wrong, such as losing a job. But when something good happens, will we be able to praise and celebrate when we
Omtimes.com
love someone who does something good? We should not keep the accolades for the big events, like a job promotion, but we should know how to praise even when a husband is finally able to bend a shirt right or when the wife prepares a wonderful dinner. Research has concluded that praising is as, or more, important than knowing how to support when something terrible happens. 4. Have fun as a couple A happy couple is a couple in which the gratifying time is the same for both. Howard Markman, Ph.D., and codirector of family studies at the University of Denver said there is “a correlation between fun and happiness in marriage, meaning a couple is happier if there are times of fun between them. These moments can be jokes to two at home or a trip to the amusement park without the children. 5. Talk about all kinds of things To share the routine of our lives with our spouse,
regardless of how insignificant the details are, can nurture the intimacy and closeness of the couple.” Details such as what you ate at lunch during the workday or telling about activities during the day are very important for each one to know what goes on in the other’s life. This type of information, although it seems small, increases the involvement and confidence of the couple. Never stop telling, and asking, how was the day of the person who is by your side. 6. Always act in a good mood This point is a bit connected to point four, about fun. Every time we make the person we love to smile, it causes a physical change that allows the brain of both to release hormones like dopamine and oxytocin. If we can make people laugh, then they will feel happier and closer. When the couple laughs and remembers fun times from their past, or laugh and share something funny, they saw during the day, they come closer and closer.
7. Hugging, kissing, holding hands The author Wendy Walsh, Ph.D., said that “studies conducted with long-time and happy couples show that the frequency in which they share a kiss is more important to the security and happiness of the couple than the frequency of intercourse.” Physical contact is significant for the intimacy of the couple. Walking with hand in hand, giving a kiss in the morning before leaving, or a spontaneous, passionate kiss or a simple hug after a long day are small gestures that bring the couple closer together. 8. There are no prohibited subjects A couple who wishes to be happy can’t allow forbidden matters between the two. Those subjects that no one speaks because they are afraid there will be a discussion. Usually, these issues are synonymous of unresolved problems. The happiness of the couple depends on how one deals with problems. Dialogue is essential.

The Association between the Hanged Man and the Empress. The twelfth arcane of the Tarot, The Hanged Man, is numerically associated with the third arcanum, The Empress. This is because 1 + 2 = 3, and the last year corresponding to that final number was that of 2010. There will also be the prominence of women in a position of power. To get a sense of what a year 3 or 12 is like, remember the main news of 2010, since 2 + 0 + 1 + 0 = 3, (1 + 2), the last period marked by the number 12. Over the years, we’ve moved beyond the typical: lose weight, keep to a budget, go to the gym, or make more money. We may still want these things, but it’s so typical to make the resolution and then break it halfway through February. At some point, we asked each other: could we do a better job of keeping our resolutions if we focused on spiritual growth and change instead? This year, Keen.com has asked a group of its top psychics, intuitive healers, and spiritual mediums for the spiritual resolutions everyone should make and keep in 2019. Each month, we’ll be breaking down the resolutions into real-life examples to help you implement these wise goals into your daily life.
compassion, acceptance, and gratitude. 2. Simplify your life. Each day get rid of one object you don’t need. Focus on what gives you joy. Get rid of everything else. 3. Be of service to others. Make at least one person’s life better every day. 4. Have an attitude of gratitude. Be grateful for what you have and share. 5. Embrace change. Be courageous. Sweep away the past. Get out there. 6. See the world as a place filled with abundance. Don’t be afraid. The Universe provides.

7. Forgive yourself and others. Embrace your mistakes (and theirs) as lessons. Don’t judge. Learn and move on.
1. Each day take a few minutes to set a specific spiritual intention for the day— begin by expressing love,

decision making; love breeds compassion and better decision making. 9. Use your life-power to honor, love, and care for yourself. Share that love to everyone around you. 10. Be open-minded, openhearted, and filled with forgiveness, compassion, and unconditional love. How Can Personal Growth Help Me? The main reasons we fail to follow through on New Year’s resolutions is that they either aren’t authentic goals— meaning we’ve just picked what everybody else does because we feel we should— or we don’t address the real need/problem behind the goal. If finding love is the resolution, let’s say, but we never seem to attract anyone appropriates into our lives, then something is going on in our energy field or psyche that may be preventing our success.

I’ve helped clients attract a relationship by digging deeper into why they want one and why they aren’t getting it—or if they subconsciously don’t want one and why that may be. Blocks to achievement often arise for reasons you don’t suspect and doing personal growth work helps uncover the hidden blocks and move beyond them. Personal growth work helps improve all areas of life: financial, relationships, career, you name it. And a trusted spiritual advisor is a great ally to help you get started on your journey. Jump in With Resolution #1 Setting a spiritual intention each day is easy yet powerful. I encourage my clients to find a time in the morning when they are already doing a routine task that doesn’t take much concentration. Some clients use their shower time; others do it before they even get out of bed. One client even does this while
applying her make-up. For me, I like to use my quiet coffee time—about ten minutes each morning—to give thanks for another day and to send love throughout my body. Then I visualize something I’d like to do, experience, or accomplish this day. I see the outcome I’d like or explore ideal solutions to challenges I’m facing. I set a specific intention to stay detached, fill the situation with love, or whatever response is appropriate. This exercise takes about five minutes—or even less! You can take more time, of course, if you have it, but don’t let “I’m too busy” be your excuse. If you have Tarot or Oracle cards, this can be a great way to incorporate the cards into your intention setting or spiritual goals for the day. Take a moment to sit with your cards and then ask your guides to deliver the card you need to reflect on, embody, or utilize today. Even the “scary” cards can be useful in this exercise. This works with any kind of deck, from animals to angels.
Throughout the day, try to remember your intention. If this is a challenge, write it on a post-it note on your computer screen at work, in your wallet, or on your phone screensaver. One client even sets up reminders on her phone to take a moment with her intention a few times a day. A brief reflection before you go to bed is helpful as well—especially reflection on how your day played out. Why not have 2019 be a year of personal development and change? You will find that the more you raise your awareness and consciousness, the more empowered your creativity and decision making becomes. A spiritual advisor can help you develop your own rituals, provide key guidance, and help you keep on track on your path to a New Year full of personal growth. Are you ready for a stellar 2019? "THE TRANSFORMATIVE EXPERIENCE OF GRIEF
THE PARABLE OF THE TRAVELLING DOLL By Humanity Healing
A year before his death, the writer Franz Kafka saw in one of Berlin's park, a girl who was desperate because she had lost her doll. It’s 1923. Franz Kafka is 40. Every afternoon, he is walking in a park near his home. Kafka, the story goes, that it was this last time he had visited Berlin. In one afternoon, he encounters a young girl called Elsi in a park awash in tears.  That little girl had lost her doll and was desolated. Kafka offered to help the child to look for the doll and arranged to meet her the next day at the same spot. Not able to locate the doll, and to soothe the girl, Kafka composed a letter from the doll to the child, to explain her disappearance. Kafka was planning to read it to her when they met again. Kafka makes up a story to. He tells the girl that her doll has gone off on a journey.
Transformative experience alters us externally as well as internally.
Here is an opening passage of one of the letters, to see the rich construction that the author performs: "Dear Elsi, first of all, I'm sorry to have left so suddenly without saying goodbye. I'm sorry, and I hope you're not angry. Sometimes we do things without realizing it, or we react to what our instinct does not say, and we hurt who we do not want. It's just that the farewells are sad, and I did not want you to cry or try to convince me to stay any longer. Now I know that you will be more at peace knowing that I am well, will rejoice for both of us. You must know that to live is to keep going forward, to enjoy every moment, every opportunity and necessity [...] You taught me many things, made me a good doll. Thanks to you I am free to do this ... " ‘Please do not grieve me, I have gone on a long journey to see the world. I will write you of my adventures.’ OMTimes | Jan 2019
“The doll explains that she has gone away to see the world, to make new friends. She loves the little girl but longs for a change of scenery. She promises to write every day to tell the little girl about her new adventures. And so she does.” This was the beginning of many letters. When Kafka and the little girl met the next afternoon again, he compassionately read her from these carefully composed letters, through the imagined adventures of the beloved doll. The little girl was comforted. And so Kafka continued, for several weeks, arriving each morning at the park with a message for his new little friend.
In another Letter the doll writes: “We came to London by balloon. . . . The English are very strange. . . . They all carry umbrellas, as it rains constantly, and long poles to poke their way through the fog. They live on muffins and tea." As Kafka creates, he knows he must prepare the little Elsi for the day when the doll reveals she won’t be coming home. He’s not sure how he will break the news without breaking the magic spell he had created.
"It's just that the farewells are sad, and I did not want you to cry or try to convince me to stay any longer. of his source".

But Franz Kafka is sick. He is terminally ill. Kafka is living the last year of his life. As his tuberculosis worsened, Kafka decided to return to a sanatorium in Prague, where he would soon die at the tender age of 41. Before he left Berlin, Franz Kafka buys the child another doll. With the figure, it came a letter in which Kafka insisted that this was the doll that belonged to the girl. Indeed, she looked different, but then on her long trip the doll had seen many amazing sights and gone through many intense experiences. Life had most definitely changed her appearance. The last letter attached clarified ‘My travels have changed me.’ Many years later, the now-grown girl found a letter stuffed into an overlooked gap in the cherished replacement doll. " etymology). ‘Everything that you love, you will eventually lose, but in the end, love will return in a different form.” Kafka gave this little girl something much more valuable to replace her lost doll. He has given her a story. Elsi had lost herself in that story. Inside that parable’s imaginary world, the pain of her real world disappears. As a terminally Ill person, Kafka also gave her the precious time he had left.
"Solidarity is the feeling that best expresses the respect for human dignity." And although we did not know for sure how the story of the girl and the lost doll happened, in that park, it was precisely this solidarity that Kafka had with a sad girl, 'inventing' the traveling doll. His kind actions help us see the importance of symbolization and imagination on the healing of grief; a story that would empower the child, to calm her down, and especially inventing a story that would lessen and prepare her for the painful separation of the doll she loved. The little girl is over her grief, She is happy for her doll in her new life. A note at the back of the book explains that according to a biography of Kafka, this encounter with a little girl who had lost her doll actually occurred. f Kafka was a more vain writer or less disillusioned with his literary career, he would have left copies of those letters for his audience to read "

Twelve Ways To Lift Our Spirits By Judi Lynch
Many of us need a reminder now and then to slow down and recharge ourselves in body, mind and soul. We get so caught up in everything and everyone else around us that we forget how to
Omtimes.com
nourish ourselves with a little extra self-care. Our energy frequencies govern our abilities to heal ourselves in a myriad of ways. When we become run down in thought our bodies eventually pick up the signals, and we can become depressed or physically ill. Here are several methods to help pull us up from our anxieties and life challenges, apply as needed.
mood. The Earth has healing powers and properties that are magical and mystical. Sitting by a stream of clear water washing over rocks and feeling a cool breeze can be an amazing experience. The realization of the power that this connection has to our soul self, along with the inner thoughts of being, bring in a spiritual clarity that can lay hidden in primal thoughts.
Visualize Solutions. When we are facing life-changing issues, it can be less stressful to focus on creative solutions with future scenarios to visualize the outcome you would like to manifest. Instead of concentrating all your energy on the drama of the challenge, take charge of the way it makes you feel. Are you empowered to find a solution or defeated by the thought? Solving your problems creates positive, productive energies your soul thrives upon.
Forgive Ourselves. For all the things we didn’t understand when we were younger and more naïve. For all the things we didn’t say or do out of fear or anxiety. For any chances, we may have missed or people we might have hurt. For all the times we didn’t listen to our soul guidance and steered off course. Everything we do here is to learn something. To evolve and grow into the ideal of humanity at its best, we test ourselves. In those tests, we or someone else learns to move on. To let go of the hurt or shame we have felt, we rise above our need to be right or perfect and appreciate the lesson.
Take a nature break. With no electronics walk, run, hike, or bike outside! Just being among the trees, grass, dirt and animal life can make an incredible difference in our
Forgive Others. One of the hardest things to do is to Omtimes.com
forgive others when they have hurt us. Everyone has their own unique experiences, reasons and life themes to work on to reach an understanding. It is a personal journey for each of us to learn how to forgive in different ways. Forgiveness releases the soul and creates a higher energy of compassion, understanding and tolerance for those who would act against another. It does not excuse the behavior but releases the victim from the negative, destructive emotions created. Feeding Our Bodies and Minds. It’s no secret that what we feed our bodies affects us in every way. To keep physically healthy and for mental sharpness, we need nutrients from the food we eat and the liquids we drink. We literally are what we eat. A brain on healthy food helps elevate our mood and is far reaching to every aspect of our lives. The Power of Creation. When we make time to focus our energy on our creative talents, we bring in connection to the Source which overpowers anxieties with new ideas. New

ideas help our brains create new, healthy cells. Knowing the possibility, we use the amazing power of our minds to visualize things we have yet to manifest. Practicing Meditation. Meditation helps us connect to the higher knowledge available to us during times of quiet solitude when we are mindful and listening. Research and practice your style of meditation to call in healing frequencies which we physically feel, audibly hear and intuitively know. These loving, guided energies can help us calm our soul and free our minds from stress and worry. Gratitude. We live in a world filled with competition and judgment. When we can rise above the noise of compliance and make a list of all the good things in our lives, we can practice being grateful. Every person, place and thing that has helped us in our life is a gift. We can send out a thank you note to the Universe! Let someone else know how thankful we are for their assistance.
Take Time to Play. A great way to avoid emotional or physical burnout is to have time to take part in the things we love to do. When our work and personal issues replace our need to express ourselves as individuals, we lose our sense of wonder and imagination. Playing games, listening to music, dancing, and appreciation of art can revive our souls. Take a mini-vacation. When life gets busy or too mundane, it might be time for a trip somewhere close by that inspires us to breathe and remember to take good care of ourselves. A day trip to the spa or a weekend in a cabin (or a tent) at the nearest state park can have miraculous results. Volunteer. When we give our time and resources to others, we create an energy of unconditional love and compassion. Assisting the homeless, rescuing animals or taking care of the elderly in our “off work time are all ways in which we can show our gratitude for life. There are countless ways in which
we can help bring more light into the world. Humor. One of the best ways to lift our spirits is to remember the absurdity of life here on Earth. When we can see the humor in our situations and others, we know humans make mistakes. We say and do things that make us laugh. Watching a comedy or listening to jokes makes us lighter inside. We don’t take ourselves so seriously. Therefore, life becomes better. We create an energy of laughter which in turn evolves into hope and evolution of spirit.
