Fran Drescher DETOX YOUR HOME

Fran Drescher is an American film and television comedian, model, actress, producer, ordained Universalist minister, and activist. She is best known for her role as Fran Fine in the hit TV series The Nanny (1993–99), and for her nasal voice and thick New York accent. Fran Drescher made her screen debut with a small role in the 1977 blockbuster film Saturday Night Fever, and later appeared in OMTimes.com

American Hot Wax (1978) and Wes Craven's horror tale Stranger in Our House (1978). In the 1980s, she gained recognition as a comedic actress in the films Gorp (1980), The Hollywood Knights (1980), Doctor Detroit (1983), This Is Spinal Tap (1984), and UHF (1989) while establishing a television career with guest appearances on several series. In 1993, she achieved wider fame as Fran Fine in her own sitcom vehicle The Nanny, for which she

OMTIMES EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW was nominated for two Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in a Comedy Television Series during the show's run. She received further recognition for her performances in Jack (1996) and The Beautician and the Beast (1997) and reinforced her position as a leading sitcom star with Living With Fran (2005–2006) and Happily Divorced (2011– 2013).

On June 21, 2007, the seventh anniversary of her operation, Drescher announced the national launch of the Cancer Schmancer Movement, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that all women's cancers be diagnosed while in Stage 1, the most curable stage. She celebrated her tenth year of wellness on June 21, 2010. Fran Drescher says: “We need to take control of our bodies, become greater partners with our physicians and galvanize as one to let our legislators know that the collective female vote is louder and more powerful than that of the richest corporate lobbyists.”

She says her goal is to live in a time when women's mortality rates drop as their health care improves and early cancer detection increases. More information can be found on her website at cancerschmancer.org A uterine cancer survivor, Fran Drescher is an outspoken healthcare advocate and LGBT rights activist, and is noted for her work as a Public Diplomacy Envoy for Women's Health Issues for the

U.S. State Department. Divorced from writer and producer Peter Marc Jacobson, she currently lives in Malibu, California. Sandie Sedgbeer: One of the things you said that intrigues me is that your whole life has been about changing negatives into positives. Now, I want to know how do you do that – especially when everything is going wrong as it did for you when it took two years and eight misdiagnosed by different doctors before you learned that you had uterine cancer. I mean, how do you transform all that frustration, fear, and anger, I’m sure, into something positive?

Fran Drescher: Well, you know it’s something that is a daily practice in how you live your life and you’re not always perfect at it. You just have to subscribe to the idea that you’re on a journey of self-refinement, and everything that comes to you is an opportunity for you to become a better version of yourself on your soul’s journey in this world. So, first, you’ve got to kind of believe that. Then, if you believe that when something bad happens you may say: “Why is this happening; why is this being presented to me in this way; how can I turn this around; what am I supposed to OMTimes.com

learn from this; how can I benefit by this?” If you think of things through that porthole, it makes the journey of living more meaningful and helps to make sense out of the senseless and offers you a window into seeing how your life can change for the better. For example, by turning pain into purpose, which is what I did, and also by learning to accept the vulnerable situation I was in and reaching out and asking for help; which is something I had never been particularly good at.

Sandie Sedgbeer: That’s a beautiful philosophy. Fran Drescher: That’s what I do, and everyone is different, but that works for me. That’s why I’m

able to turn lemons into lemonade. Sandie Sedgbeer: In 2007, you published your book “Cancer Schmancer” which was a best-seller, and since then you’ve said that the book was not the end, but rather the beginning of a life mission to improve women’s healthcare in America. You went on to found a Cancer Schmancer movement and a Cancer Schmancer Foundation. Was there one moment, in particular, that solidified for you the urgent need and the determination to do something, or was it a gradual realization? Fran Drescher: Well, I went on book tours and lecture circuits because the book was successful, and realized that what happened to me was not unique but has happened to many people by means of misdiagnosis and mistreatment. And, for many – though thankfully not me – late stage cancer diagnosis is a consequence. So I started to create a vision of changes that I think needed to be addressed, and that’s when I realized that I needed to start an organization where people can, you know, learn new things. The cornerstone of the organization was early detection because: “If you catch it OMTimes.com

on arrival, 95% survival”, and the reason why we lose loved ones to cancer is almost always due to late-stage diagnosis. That’s basically because the test we need isn’t always on the menu at the Doctor’s office and we’re too quick to give the Doctor all the decisionmaking power and we become frightened and infantile as a consequence of worrying that there’s something really wrong with us. But that has got to change, and so Cancer Schmancer transforms patients into medical consumers, empowers you with knowledge so you can take control of your body and become better partners with your physician. And now we’re on a progressive program which is prevention, called “Detox Your Home.” So much of medicine in the western world is reductionist, where they deal with the sickness and don’t ask what the causation was. So everybody is trying to solve the problem and find a cure, but they’re not asking themselves the right questions. And that’s why there’s not been one single cure since Nixon waged the war on cancer in the early 1970’s, and trillions of dollars have been plunked into trying to find a cure, and the best really that we’ve come up with is taking a lot of

expensive medication to live longer, while chronically ill. If we start asking ourselves “What is the cause of illness and disease?” and eliminate it, then let’s not get cancer in the first place. How’s that for a cure? And so that’s the reason why Cancer Schmancer fills a very unique position in the health space because that’s what we do, and the home it turns out is the most toxic place we spend the most time in. More toxic than living across the street from an Oil Refinery. So we have to start looking at what we bring into the home because we don’t have control over a lot of things out in the world, but we certainly do about what we bring into our own home where we spend the most time and it turns out is the most toxic. And we teach you how to take the “Check, Choose and Change Challenge.” Check labels, choose healthier, organic, eco-friendly products, and become the change we so desperately need because all of our lifestyles right now is unsustainable. One out of two men and one out of three women are expected to get cancer in their lifetime. The children of today, for the first time in US history, are anticipated to not live as long as their parents, which is why we, at OMTimes.com

Cancer Schmancer, are producing a detox your home video targeting teens, and I’m very grateful to Mr. Jamie Fox, the Actor, who is going to be the host of the video.

Sandie Sedgbeer: You know, Fran, I was going to ask you what is it about Cancer Schmancer that seems to be so different, and you’ve just described it. It is so much more practical, it’s so much more accessible to women, it is turning everything on its head, and it’s giving them practical advice and information and solutions and empowering people to take care of themselves. And I think that’s huge. You have some great things going, like your early-detection Fran Vans, and your School Assembly Prevention Program, and you’ve just mentioned the Detox Your Home Campaign and your Health Summit. Who comes up with these ideas because they seem to be quite progressive and visionary?

OMTIMES EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

Fran Drescher: Well, you know, I have a team at Cancer Schmancer. We’re a small, lean, mean fighting machine, but I think that I’m the visionary at the helm. I get big ideas, and I’m a producer, and I get passionate about something, and I say this is the next thing we’ve got to work on because if I’m passionate it becomes contagious, my passion, and we can really try and change people’s thinking. Our website is very upbeat, and positive, and motivational, and informative and educational, and we’re inclusive – we’re not exclusive. We want to help other organizations as much as ourselves, and I think the only way to see a change in this 21st century is to lock elbows and march into it with a new vision.

OMTimes.com

Sandie Sedgbeer: Good for you, and it is a beautiful vision and a very practical one which is the main thing, because if it’s not practical, then people can’t get there, can they? On October 26th this year, you’re hosting Cancer Schmancer’s 2nd Annual Health Summit at the Cultural Centre in Los Angeles and, true to form, you’re going to be covering some progressive approaches that the establishment might dismiss as fringe, but are actually proving to be extremely valid. Tell us a little bit about the event. Who’s going to be speaking, and the topics they’ll be covering. Fran Drescher: Oh, we have wonderful speakers. It’s a full day of speakers and panel discussions and videos. It kicks off with a brunch, if you buy the $300 ticket, and then you get preferred table seating that’s up-front and center to the stage where all the speakers are. We’re going to be focusing on many different things from mental health, breast health, kids’ health, inflammation, cancer and breakthroughs with that. Alternatives – encouraging the body to heal itself through alternative methods rather than poisoning the body to destroy the

cancer cells before the poison destroys you.

Sandie Sedgbeer: What, in your experience, doesn’t the average person know about cancer that they really should know?

environment, and that includes not only what we put in, on, and around us, what we are eating, all our personal care items. What are we cleaning and gardening with, and what are the fabrics we’re living with, wearing, and putting on our furniture – the carpets, the drapes – all of these things that have off-gassing or dangerous dyes, or dangerous chemicals like flame retardants; or things like what makes a shirt wrinkle-free is actually toxic; what makes the new cars smell is actually toxic off-gassing. And we just have to look at everything differently, and just start. Don’t make the perfect the enemy of the good, but just begin, and use our good, oldfashioned, all-American consumerism to dictate manufacturing trends. Because, at the end of the day, manufacturers don’t want to kill us, they want to sell us, but they’ll sell us anything that we’re willing to buy which, right now, is anything. But we have to change that, and in so doing change the way we live.

Fran Drescher: I think that almost 95% of cancers are environmentally stimulated – only 5% is genetic – so I think it behooves us to look at our

When I walk into an office building where the windows don’t open, and everything in it is an unnatural material, from the industrial carpets to the fluorescent lighting, flame-

We want to make people, by the time they leave, be transformed from patients into medical consumers, so they can go home and say now I’ve got some tools. I know what I need to look at. I know what I need to think about; and it’s everything from your home to what you eat, your personal care items, what you do when you are told that there’s something seriously wrong with you. We have Meriel Hemingway speaking; we have Mary-Lou Hanna speaking; I’ll, of course, be speaking. I can’t remember off the top of my head all the wonderful people that are coming, but we’re going to talk about GMO’s and how that impacts our health. You know, it’s a whole afternoon of education so that you have some tools to bring home to your family and begin the change.

OMTimes.com

OMTIMES EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW retardant drapes, and upholstery, and the industrial cleaners that are used to keep that building clean night after night – which, by the way, is also a terrible occupational hazard for those poor people that are in the janitorial business – I can’t wait to get out of a building like that. I can’t believe that people go there every day and work there. They don’t even seem to realize what a toxic space they’re spending every day in, and then they go home to another toxic place, and I feel that it’s our job, our mission at Cancer Schmancer, to wake them up because once you wake up and smell the coffee it’s hard to go back to sleep. Sandie Sedgbeer: The more you learn about cancer, the more research you do, and obviously you’re in a place now where you’re extremely wellinformed it could get very daunting. Do you find that it just galvanizes you even more to spread the word?

Fran Drescher: Without question, every time I hear somebody lost a loved one it keeps me in it that much stronger. Every time someone comes to me and says, because of you I made that Doctor’s appointment and got diagnosed early; because of OMTimes.com

you I changed the way I cleaned my house, and it gives me the energy to keep on going. I feel like I have a purpose to my life that I didn’t expect to have, but it’s meaningful, and I feel like I got famous, I got cancer, and I lived to talk about it. So I’m talking about it, and we’re a celebritydriven organization. We’ve leveraged the reach of celebrity to help change the world. Sandie Sedgbeer: You’ve won a host of awards for your work as a health advocate – I won’t go into them now, but I’ll fill them in when I edit this transcript – but when you reflect on your life BC and up – before and after cancer – with your original career goals and ambitions, and your more recent achievements – how do you feel about the way your life path has evolved? Fran Drescher: I think it’s deepened me as a human being and as an Actor. It’s made me more sensitive to other people’s pain and vulnerability. It’s set me on a path of health and wellness, personally. I feel like I live my life as an exemplary life, and then I share it with everyone else so they can learn from the things I had to learn the hard way. I’m trying to change the way we eat. We

cannot keep eating industrialraised animals and plants. They’re laden with chemicals that are not serving us well. We have to support sustainably-farmed, family farmers that practice organic growing practices. Our food source is being tainted. GMO’s are a terrible thing to happen to our food source, and we’re looking at all that. Once again, not bias (?), and wake people up to realize that they’re trying to dumb us down. They’re trying to make us think that we don’t have the right instincts; that their research is what will justify how we live our lives, but whatever they do is fueled by greed and we have to listen to our inner voice which is closest to our Creator. Sandie Sedgbeer: I’m so thrilled to hear you saying this because this is something that I’ve been saying for several years. You’ve used a phrase in one of your interviews: “Not in my home; not on my skin; not in my stomach; not in my world.” That is a wonderful rallying cry.

Fran Drescher: Well, you know, I didn’t expect to be the one out of everyone I know to get cancer at a young age, but I did. And bad OMTimes.com

things happen to good people. What you do with it, how you work through it, and what becomes of you, as a result, is what makes all the difference. Sandie Sedgbeer: Finally, Fran, your energy, drive, passion, and your determination, is very inspiring. You’ve already accomplished more in the past 16 years than many people manage to accomplish in a lifetime. So, I can’t imagine you stopping now. What is next for you? Fran Drescher: Well, I’m writing two projects, and one is a Broadway Musical. I can’t really talk about it. And the other one is a television pilot who would be for me to star in, and I’m very excited about it. I’m taking meetings with networks right now, and it could be something that if I get a network to want to buy it, that could be the next series that makes my heart sing. I have the Cancer Schmancer thing, you know, and I am going to be speaking in Savannah, Georgia, and after that going up to New York with my parents to celebrate my sister’s birthday and be with the family. And, you know, between the organizations, I’m divorcing, so I’m starting a new life on my own again, and a new

chapter, and that’s exciting to me with no regrets. I feel great. I learned a lot. Both about myself and from my ex-husband and now I take that new information, and I tuck it under my arm, and I go write the next chapter. Sandie Sedgbeer: You know, you’re obviously extremely well-known for your talents as an actress, and a producer and a writer, and an entertainer, and I’m sure that gives you so much pleasure. Your advocacy and your outlook, though, they are going to be your legacy, aren’t they? And what you’ve achieved since you had cancer. Fran Drescher: You know, that would be nice. It’s not really my motivation, and I never really understood that because for a large part of my life I was motivated by the desire to leave my mark. But then this kind of took over in a way that’s almost deeper than that which is a little more ego-driven, and I just feel like it’s my calling, and it’s something that I have to do. I’m very clear on the messaging, which also I don’t take credit for completely. I think that I’m part of a much bigger story and a higher power.

OMTimes.com

Sandie Sedgbeer: Fran Drescher. Having read your book, I feel like I know you. I feel like I know your family intimately. I feel like we’ve hung out together. As you take this new path in your life, I’m inspired by your resilience and this ability to take lemons and turn them into lemonade. I wish you every success. Empower Girls Break the Cycle of Dependence

The number one reason girls drop out of school in Sub-Saharan Africa is lack of access to feminine hygiene products. The Pads for Schoolgirls Project, an outreach of Humanity Healing International, is changing this paradigm by setting up sewing programs at schools, teaching girls a vocational skill, while producing the reusable pads that help keep them attending classes. The girls pay it forward by making and giving pad kits to other girls in need. To learn more, visit humanityhealing.org

The Pressure to Relax by Sha LĂŠWilante

The Stress Statistics Are Staggering According to the International Stress Management Association, an estimated 1.2 million people said they were suffering from an illness caused or made worse by their work, down from 1.3 million in 2009-2010. Of these, 500,000 were new illnesses occurring in-year.

Omtimes.com

These are staggering statistics. People are putting in more hours at work. According to the Office of National Statistics, the UK work the 3rd longest hours in Europe completing a total of 42.7 hours per week (Austria & Greece follow averaging 43.7 hours per week). The responsibility of juggling work with home, family, friends and a social life can lead to unnecessary pressure and a feeling of being overwhelmed. With extended working hours, and life’s pressures, when do we find time to relax and just enjoy a moment? With commuting, mobile phones, the internet and reality TV, when do you give yourself space to just close your eyes and relax? Chances are, you don’t find that time. Many people say they relax whilst watching TV, but your emotions are often involved in this perceived ‘relaxing’ time.

Under Pressure? Time to Relax? It is Possible Everyone has a different lifestyle and daily schedule or routine. Autonomy is key, and you will find that taking time out to relax may change

depending on your daily demands. Whilst it may be helpful to have a set time, which will differ for everyone, the macro-idea of incorporating some form of relaxation into your life appears to be more beneficial than the micro-idea of the time of day you relax. For instance, attempting to relax as soon as you awaken could induce sleep. Therefore, after your morning routine of showering and just before breakfast, you may choose to set aside some time for your relaxation. The amount of time is up to you. You may have only five minutes, and this will suffice. For you, longer than this may not be tolerable, especially in the early stages of incorporating this into your daily life. It is important to lessen the selfimposed pressure, and to cater the relaxation to what you can manage for now. Weekends may differ from weekdays. Let go of any expectations, as they only contribute to stress.

Find Time for Mindfulness, Relaxation, and Meditation Stress arises when individuals Omtimes.com

perceive that they cannot adequately cope with the demands being made on them or with threats to their wellbeing. R.S. Lazarus (1966). ‘Psychological stress and the coping process’, New York: McGraw-Hill. Mindfulness, Relaxation, Meditation. Three techniques that can add quality, depth and possibly years to your life. They all involve the simple, and yet perhaps not easy task of taking time out of your day, finding a quiet space, and in some way, focusing your attention on something. The process of all three will involve the focus on your breathing. Relaxation will involve some visualization. And meditation may require non-focus on anything in particular. The later may be a challenge, but as we know from those who practice consistently, is achievable. In order to relax, you don’t have to spend an hour or two. Fifteen minutes will often do and is the equivalent to taking a short nap.

Omtimes.com

The best way to begin is to find a quiet place to relax. Tell everyone you are ‘unavailable’ for the next few minutes, however long that may be. Some relaxation apps allow you can set the time from five to 30 minutes. Use headphones and listen to relaxing music such as nature sounds (ocean, birds) or orchestral music. Many different CDs are on the market to help. Close your eyes and begin taking a few deep breaths. Soon you will find yourself drifting off.

Relaxation Techniques Help Creativity and More If you are in a creative job, you will find this relaxation session extremely useful. Many artists, writers, musicians and performers rely on this relaxation technique to spark inspiration, new ideas and the energy to see projects to completion. Relaxation is a proven technique that can help you to manage stress. The NHS now provides relaxation sessions for staff which include alternative therapies such as aromatherapy message, Indian head massage, and spiritual healing. This is amazing.

There are many benefits to learning relaxation. The Mayo Clinic suggests the following in ‘The benefits of relaxation techniques’: When faced with numerous responsibilities and tasks or the demands of an illness, relaxation techniques may take a back seat in your life. But that means you might miss out on the health benefits of relaxation. Practicing relaxation techniques can reduce stress symptoms by: Slowing your heart rate Lowering blood pressure Slowing your breathing rate Increasing blood flow to major muscles Reducing muscle tension and chronic pain Improving concentration Reducing anger and frustration Boosting confidence to handle problems If you’d like some basic techniques, go to my presentation and follow the simple techniques that are outlined.

A little can go a long way. Essential Oils for Your Yoga Practice by Andrew Pacholyk, MS L.Ac

Essential Oils - On and Off the Yoga Mat Essential oils have so many uses in yoga practice, both on and off the mat. I have a core group I recommend, such as eucalyptus, juniper, lavender, orange, rosemary, rosewood, tea tree, and thyme. These essential oils work as a calmative, an antiseptic, diuretic and infection fighter. These select oils are simply a jumping point for you to start discovering these wonderful “scent tools.”

Omtimes.com

Essential oils are, first of all, the pure essence of plants, extracted for their healing, cleansing, and magical properties. The olfactory nerves in the brain work by transporting us, encouraging us or relaxing us through the power of scent. To benefit from all the rich aspects essential oils have to offer, it is important to look at each one’s structural source. This is as an individual and unique frame of reference that may aid in yoga practice and beyond. The therapeutic “signature” of each plant,

tree or fruit, is its essence, or essential oil.

Recommended Essential Oils for Yoga Practice Eucalyptus: This oil is best to know as a decongestant for colds, as being a powerful antibacterial and antiviral. Consecrate Your Life by Ariela Sarai

Consecration In his book, Private Lessons, author Harry Palmer provides this especially relevant passage: “Profanation is the action of destroying the sacred quality of something. …Some people specialize in it. They do it to their relationships, and they even do it to their own lives. The opposite of profanation is consecration. Consecration means to make something sacred, to infuse it with the power of the extraordinary, to treat it with reverence and respect. Consecration is a re-connection with divine wonder....”

When I first learned about consecration, it seemed like a really big topic; something that only religious institutions and leaders do. In studying the Avatar materials, I realized that it is actually very relevant to my daily life, and also vital to my happiness and well-being.

Profanation Profanation is the opposite of consecration. To me, profaning is when we make something ordinary instead of appreciating the mystery and the grace of that person or moment. We may also be profaning our relationships and lives without even realizing that this is what we are doing. Here are some of the many ways we profane our lives: • Overriding our well-being as we try to accomplish certain goals • Repeating habits that are self-destructive • Putting off what is most important to us • Pretending • Rushing • Taking things for granted • Judging and criticizing

Controlling others • Justifying not being present with, or kind to, or interested in, the people around us The amazing thing is that once we start profaning, it can become automatic and starts to have a ripple effect. We end up minimizing the value of our purpose, our gifts, and our connections. Reaching our goals can seem more important than the present moment, and we end up stressed, unhappy, and disconnected.

Reconnect and Consecrate On the other hand, consecration opens our hearts and helps us remember who we are and why we are here. There can be some resistance to making the switch from a habit of profaning to having more reverence. In the moment, it can feel like being interrupted or even forced. We may, in addition, even feel like these things are a waste of time! But once we let go of that attachment to the profaning behavior, we see things differently. We can then operate

Omtimes.com

from a different level, where we are aware that connection, presence and the recognition of a higher purpose add to our joy and success, rather than take away from it. “Extraordinary people consecrate their work, their relationships and their own lives... The common elements are love, reverence and respect...” --Harry Palmer, Private Lessons

Here are some of the ways that we can consecrate our own lives: • Creating meaningful rituals • Praying, meditating, practicing tai-chi, yoga and other forms of sacred movement • Having compassion • Deciding to be present • Experiencing gratitude • Doing acts of kindness • Being honest with ourselves and others • Having acceptance • Choosing to be helpful to others • Feeling enjoyment

Through the years of teaching The Avatar Course, I have observed that the main thing that keeps us from consecrating our lives is being stuck in our minds. This is when we mainly see through our stories and judgments, and when achieving our goals becomes more important than the journey. In conclusion, we can start by having an intention to live more reverently. Then we can take one step at a time to become more present in our hearts and cherish our lives and each other. Bedtime Routines for Better Sleep by Carmen Vasquez

Bedtime Routines Can Help You Find Rest It is widely known that today’s lifestyle creates anxiety and stress in a lot of people. Because of this, people get insomnia or can’t have the rest their minds and bodies need. Often, some simple bedtime routines can be just the solution. This is important to embrace each new Omtimes.com

day full of energy and a with positive attitude. Fortunately, we are beings with a high capacity for creating different “realities.” We can use this ability to focus our attention on positive practices. This can be most important when we add them to our daily routine before going to bed.

you have in front of you a basket and inside it, you put all your emotions (whether positive or less positive), experiences, thoughts, worries, or any other thing you feel is creating heaviness within you, and then watch how that basket is going up and up in a vertical way, completely aligned with you, and is received by that wonderful energy that created all of us.

Here are three bedtime routines--simple practices you can implement and make part of your daily life. These may serve to help you relax and embrace life in a more positive way, even when you are facing difficult challenges:

Doing this ritual every single day, allows us to open space on the “hard disk” we call memory. We can welcome new experience because we have a fresh, clean memory space with more room.

1. Release or Surrender Your Worries

2. Journal Your “Magical Moments”

Release or Surrender: This is the most important part for your bedtime routine, since you will be setting all the heaviness you carry during the day or in your unconscious mind free. Direct it to go to the creator or universe, where that energy can be transformed in several ways that our limited human mind cannot comprehend. So, in order to practice this, imagine

Another amazing thing you can do, sitting on the bed before turning off the lights, is keep a journal. Call this journal “Magical Moments,” and make it pretty and lovely because it will hold all your memories. Keep it always on your nightstand with a nice pen and every night write the date at the beginning of one page. On that page, write three things that made you feel good Omtimes.com

during the day, even though it was a “hard” day. When you take a close look, you will start recognizing every single day has amazing moments, always. For example: someone smiles at you, you find a penny or a feather on the floor, you get an unexpected phone call, your little dog wags its tail to you, you just smell a flower, among an infinity of things. Please do not worry about writing an essay. Just play with your mind and write a short sentence that will make you smile and remember after six months or a year, when you open up a random page of your “Magical Moments” journal and read it.

3. Count On “Something I Gave” to Shine Through On the same page, write the title: “Something I Gave.” You can write three things you gave during the day. This could be a hug you gave to someone, a smile, or some compassion. It may be the time you share being mindful with someone, or doing a favor, among many others.

When you start doing these three simple bedtime routines, you will start sleeping better and waking up in a super positive mood, even though you may have lessons to learn. As soon as you practice and learn to surrender, however, you will be opening up space to have new experiences and purposes in your life. At the same time your “Magical Moments” journal will help you to see how wonderful life is when you learn to see the little things that make every day great! The Art of Moving House by Kartar Diamond

A lot of emphasis has been made in educating the public about what constitutes a good or bad feng shui house. But once the house is selected, there are feng shui guidelines for how and when to make the move itself: • Before the move, the house must be thoroughly cleaned (all surfaces). It is especially good if new paint, carpeting, and tiling are changed, as well as window treatments. • All the windows must be opened for hours, if not a few days. Omtimes.com

• Space-clearing rituals and procedures are always good to carry-out including burning sage. • Important feng shui remedies should be installed before the occupants even move in. As an example, if the house needs a water fountain in a particular room, go ahead and set that up before you move in. • Make the move should be made during the day, preferably starting in the morning, not at night.

• The move should be on a day that is generally a good day for changing residences, according to the Chinese calendar. • The move should be scheduled on a day that is good personally for the zodiac sign of the head of the house, if not every family member. • Moving should be completed in one day and not stretched over several days. • The head of the house should be the first to walk into the house, followed by other family members. • No one should enter the house empty-handed. • The most important and valuable items should be brought over first (e.g., computers, jewelry, highvalue). • People of certain zodiac signs should not do the moving personally, such as Tigers. The moving Tiger is considered more prone to accidents or breaking things. (Let them order the take-out!) • People who are the sign of the Dragon or Rooster are

especially good to help in a move. • Furnishings and objects from the previous residence which carry negative energies or memories should not be brought to the new house. • Getting a new mattress is a good idea, especially if the previous one is very old. • The actual moving in of possessions is important, but the real move-in energy is initiated when the first meal is cooked in the house or heated up on the stove. The timing of making the first meal may be easier to schedule on a good day than the actual moving day of furnishings. Knowing some of these very practical steps and insights can help make moving house into an art. About the Author Kartar Diamond trained classically in Feng Shui and is a practitioner since 1992. Metaphysics

Time as a Feature of Existence by Daniel Mitel Existence and Time Are They Relative? When it comes to our modern existence, people from all over the world are saying that they no longer have time to do things as they used to do in the past.

Omtimes.com

What is time? A few hundred years ago, Isaac Newton said it was external and absolute; it is completely independent of the observer. However, Einstein demonstrated that time is relative to the observer. Today, we all know this relativity as a function of where we are and how we move in relation to others. One of the most renown metaphysicians of the early 20th century, John McTaggart, said that the only real time is the present. The past is gone and the future exists only as a probability distribution potentiality. McTaggart said that the past, present and future all coexist. The distinction of past, present and future are just an illusion of consciousness.

It May Be in the Numbers Fibonacci Series shows us how we can determine the future if we know the past and understand the present. We

can take any middle number (the present) within the Fibonacci Series and add to it the left number (the past) and we will have the right number (the future). There are a lot of theories related with the fact that we sometimes feel that the time is going much faster now than it was a few years ago. Some of them are related with Schumann resonance and with the resonant cavity of electromagnetic waves. Some of them are related with the fact that we feel this as a perception; an awareness related to the dimension where each being is living. Time, as we understand it, is not a feature of existence in higher dimensions, though the citizens of higher dimensions are fully conscious of the a more eternal sequence of events. Motion is not inherent in higher dimensions; it is volitional. But the concept

Omtimes.com

of distance, even absolute distance, has very much meaning as it may be applied to relative locations in higher dimensions. The higher dimensions are non-spatial; hence, their areas are absolute and therefore serviceable in many ways beyond human understanding.

Faster than Normal? Depends on Where You Are So, is it possible to have a watch showing the flow of seconds and minutes as “normal, yet feel that it is moving much faster? Yes, it is possible. Basically the energy of each act we do now is connected with a different vibration compared to last year. After December 21, 2012, when Mother Earth changed to female energy, it seems that the whole Universe changed its vibration. Are we now getting a higher vibration? It seems so. People feel in a different way now.

Omtimes.com

The Mayans, the Kogi in Columbia, the Tibetan Monks, and the Holy Fathers on Mount Athos are doing a very interesting experience staying at least one month in a completely dark room (usually a cave into the mountain). The purpose is to really feel that time is non-existent. Except for any sounds of the outside world, there is basically no related reference; there is no day or night, no sun or moon. Just the inner light emanated by the heart. The dark room has a unique feature: the monks feel that the whole universe has stopped its giant motion; no boundaries, time, space, size or dimension.

Heart, Space, and Our Comprehension Drunvalo Melchizedek said that, when we are in the heart, time is spherical: past, present and future occur at the same time. This is one of the reasons why we lose track of time

when we are doing the tiny space of heart meditation. We feel we were in the heart for ten or fifteen minutes when in fact we are there for an hour. Time and space constitute barriers to the creature concept; and yet without time, apart from space, no creature could achieve even a limited comprehension of universe reality. Without time sensitivity, no evolutionary creature could possibly perceive the relations of sequence. Time and space are man’s greatest aids to relative reality perception, and yet his formidable obstacles to complete reality perception. Humans and many other universe creatures find it necessary to think of potential as actualized in space and evolving to fruition in time. But this entire process is a timespace phenomenon, which does not actually take place on the absolute level of existence. There, time is eternity. On the

absolute level there is neither time nor space. We may perceive all potentials as actual. Until we arrive on the absolute level, let’s all enjoy the beauty of time and space here and in other dimensions; let’s play with the light and unconditional love. About the Author Daniel Mitel is a world-class master of meditation. He helps people understand the intimate connection to their inner selves, utilizing the ancient system of Heart Imagery. What Obstacles Prevent Your Desires from Manifesting? by Maryjane Osa

“Your thoughts create your reality.” “Change your thinking, change your life.” “What you focus your attention on, you will attract into your experience.” These statements are popular expressions of the law of attraction. Many spiritual seekers embrace them without exploring their history or assumptions. The disadvantages, or obstacles, of accepting these ideas uncritically is that discouragement follows when meditations, affirmations and vision boards don’t “work.”

Omtimes.com

Spiritual Pioneers and the Law of Attraction A nineteenth-century movement of spiritual but not religious Americans encountered similar frustrations. Drawing on New England transcendentalism and teachings of the mind-cure meta-physicians, practitioners of New Thought sought to use the law to manifest good in their lives. New Thought spiritual leaders of the early twentieth century combined mystical and intellectual wisdom. Influential writers, Florence Scovel Shinn and William Walker Atkinson, are two such examples. They taught that personal experimentation and empirical discovery paved the path to spiritual discovery, rather than doctrine or dogma.

Correcting Misunderstandings Many spiritual seekers benefited from these teachings. But, there were also those whose prayers were not answered, whose illnesses

were not cured, and whose prosperity never materialized. Skeptics pointed to such obstacles as evidence that the law of attraction was bunk. One of the brilliant writers of the day, Horatio Dresser, also realized that the law of attraction was often misunderstood. In Handbook of the New Thought, Dresser observed that the power of thought received “undue emphasis” in many books and teachings. This led people to accept a simplified version of causality in their understanding of life. They believed that thoughts had great power to manifest in physical reality, and that proper thoughts could lead to increased prosperity or the perfect loving relationship.

Obstacles in Developing the Spiritual Mind The belief, “I create my own reality in the manner of my choosing,” implies that life is under a person’s direct control. It presents a worldview in which “the human self

Omtimes.com

is the decisive agent.” But this ignores the fact that the planet is populated by millions of living beings interacting in all sorts of ways. Hence, a complex world cannot be under a single individual’s control. To overcome this obstacle, Dresser proposes an alternative: to assume instead that there is a creative intelligence within life. This intelligence (universal spirit, higher power, God) is causality. It is truth. The divine works through impersonal principles such as the law of attraction to serve the good of all. The spirit within does the work. Hence, the individual who seeks to manifest what is in their highest good is tasked with learning to be receptive to this good.

A New Conception of the Self Cultivating receptivity may be difficult because the ego wants to hold onto its pre-eminence. A belief in supreme human agency supports the ego. The ego resists surrendering its small wants and needs.

Omtimes.com

According to Dresser, this calls for a new conception of the self. This involves an awareness of a higher consciousness. It embraces spiritual surrender, accepting that “all spiritual life is a sharing of power with its cause.” Thus, the ego’s foundational belief in supreme human agency is transcended by asking for and accepting divine guidance. Rather than fixating on thoughts, Dresser suggests a deeper dive. Beneath churning thoughts and emotions lies the spiritual mind, “the inmost region which lies open to the inflowing divine life.” Once one attains inner stillness through prayer, meditation, yoga, or just walking in nature, the quiet voice of spirit can illuminate the next step on someone’s path.

Guided Towards Happiness Humans who seek to expand their consciousness face a twofold challenge. On the one hand, cultivating receptivity and spiritual discernment requires

inner focus. On the other hand, serving the good in ourselves and others also requires an outward, positive openness to the world. When we ask for and receive inner guidance, each person faces a choice. Should they allow habitual reaction to take over, disregarding the inner voice? This obstacle is the ego’s preference, as it maintains a psychologically comfortable status quo. Or, should they change in order to act in accordance with spiritual perception? This is the moment of opportunity. Accessing one’s inner guidance and acting upon its truth is the road of spiritual progress.

Must We Surrender Individuality? Does spiritual surrender mean giving up individuality? Not at all. Dresser emphasized that the authenticity and worthiness of each person is fundamental. We should all bear in mind “that each individual has a right to be, has a work to do.”

We realize individuality in relationship to wholeness. Each individual, thereby is “contributing their measure of service to the world, while all the time remembering that they are one among many, that we are ‘all members of one another’ through [the creative power] which realizes heavenly purposes for all.” When we are in alignment with source, the law of attraction works for and through us. In conclusion, it surmounts obstacles, and brings forth the desires of our heart, if not our mind. About the Author Maryjane Osa, PhD, is a sociologist, speaker, and educator. What is the Philosopher’s Stone of Alchemy? by Zinovia Dushkova

What Do You Know about the Philosopher’s Stone? For centuries, the Philosopher’s Stone, which according to legends and myths can work

Omtimes.com

wonders, was sought after by ancient alchemists. After hundreds of written works, it remains unclear: What exactly is the Philosopher’s Stone? The answer is surprisingly simple - it is our heart. In their writings, the alchemists used a multitude of allegories, metaphors, and symbols that only the initiated could correctly decode. So, for example, one recipe says: “Take the mercury of philosophers, and burn it until it turns into a green lion. Keep burning - it will turn into a red lion.” This refers to a fiery heart, since only the one who has the fiery heart is able to come closer to the mystery associated with the Philosopher’s Stone. The “burning fire” means spiritual life. When a person takes a spiritual path, they begin to receive higher energies. This invisible fire “burns,”

i.e., transforms, all the seven bodies of their human structure. Initially, this fire is intended to remove a dense layer of “tissue” from the path that links the lower quaternary of bodies and the higher spiritual triad.

The Colors Associated with Transformation Only the liberated solar plexus can help one to “turn into a green lion,” which means the next step of inner transformation. The heart center has an image of lotus petals, which are, as a rule, in the folded position. The first row consists of green petals, the second row of pink (or red) petals, and the third row of white ones. The green petals are first to be awakened, when a person aspires after the higher knowledge which will help them in the spiritual ascent. And then everyone takes their individual path. If a person’s heart does not possess

Omtimes.com

noble qualities, it is not able to activate the alchemical chain of reactions. In this case, the elements are set in motion, demonstrating all their destructive force. The secret of all supernatural abilities lies in our heart, where there is a crystal that represents the crystallized fiery energy accumulated through the ages. Tibetans call it Ringse. When a high lama dies, after cremation, his closest disciples begin to look for the Ringse. The larger it is, the better, because the disciples judge the degree of spirituality of their teacher by its size.

Insight on Sacred Relics and Crystals Such sacred relics have been collected. With the blessing of the 14th Dalai Lama, these are now shown at the Maitreya Projects in Bodhgaya and Kushinagar, India. Since cremation is not traditional in

Omtimes.com

Christian countries, we cannot judge the height of many wellknown saints of the Christian Church on this basis. However, it is known that, after the burning of Joan of Arc, her heart did not burn in the fire. Instead, it remained in the form of a crystal. Her executors, not knowing what to do with it, threw into the Seine. The crystal takes shape throughout one’s life. It may remain unchanged for many lifetimes, until any act shifts it from its fixed position. For example, a deed of light for the good of humanity will add a certain portion to the already accumulated value. After death, the crystal remains on the Earth, but the individual who grew it takes it away in their chest in the form of a blazing bundle of fire. In their new incarnation, the person will endow this crystal with a physical form again that will be equal in energy value to the previous incarnation. In

this way, this treasure can be depleted, multiplied, or left the same.

Philosopher’s Stones and Higher Purpose Philosopher’s Stones that remain after cremation have the supreme energy and alchemical properties mentioned in the legends. But if another person would like to use the power of such a stone, the power of their own Ringse must be of the same energy level or higher. It is impossible to put these stones to evil ends. Even if one were to attempt it, because of the dissonance that brings, the stone would simply break up; crumbling into the primary elements. There are unpredictable consequences. Examples may include the death of the originator of the evil, to earthquakes and other natural disasters. The accumulation and growth of the Philosopher’s

Stone may occur mainly during our stay in physical conditions over many lifetimes. Later, in the higher worlds, a person reaps the consequences. That is, takes the place that corresponds to the “wealth” of their heart. Therefore, it is important to make the right choices in life and not let earthly illusion delude us. Our wrong actions can result in the loss of our heavenly treasure. About the Author Zinovia Dushkova, Ph.D., is an award-winning Russian author and researcher of ancient mysteries. Her spiritual quest has taken her to remote Buddhist monasteries and sacred abodes. Waiting for the Green Flash by Gia Dalton

Omtimes.com

Do You Know about the Green Flash? Most of us have heard of the elusive green flash. The optical phenomena that prompt people from around the world to stand seaside facing the sun. With eyes transfixed on the horizon, we wait to catch a glimpse of the green rays that suddenly shoot outward

from the upper rim of the sun. Legends say that once a person has witnessed it, they will never go wrong with matters of the heart again. No wonder so many long to see one. What if waiting to see a green flash in hopes of being magically exempt from heartache is nonsense? Nothing more than a legend, and waiting for anything actually prohibits us from living today? Can waiting for “true love” turn into a quest akin to waiting for a green flash? It can get lonely stuck in a perpetual state of waiting, whether its waiting for a green flash, or true love. Yet, adamantly, many of us refuse to settle for anything or anyone less than our elusive and mysterious special occurrence! Returning day after day at sunset, feet firmly planted in the sand, eyes fixed on the sun, we patiently wait for our

infamous love…the green flash. Finally, on a seemingly ordinary day, it arrives, and the vision is extraordinary. A wave of reassurance rushes through our body, filling the space where doubt once lived. Our spirits renewed. Matters of the heart from this day forward will be perfect.

Special Moments Are Worth Waiting For Perhaps we all need a green flash to remind us that true love, or anything worth having, is worth waiting for. For a few precious seconds, we behold a wondrous flash of green light. In that moment, our hearts burst wide open, scattering millions of shimmering, shooting stars across the night sky. The ocean glistens. We have a testimony; the promise of true love. We’ve seen the elusive green flash. It does exist. Catching our breath, the sun disappears under the ocean. The experience is over, and our hearts are open.

Omtimes.com

With childlike enthusiasm we shout with delight, “Love, true love, is alive. It is magnificent. I saw the green flash, so I know it is true.” You may have not experienced it yet; tomorrow could be the day, so keep believing.

The Intention: Enjoy Each Moment The message is simple: Show up for the sunset. Milk every glorious minute waiting for it, regardless of the outcome. Absorb the experience, and let it become a part of you. Life is the same way. We’ve got to show up with the intention to enjoy each moment. Perhaps there is something more to the legend of the elusive green flash. More than rays of light, and a promise of favor in matters of the heart. Maybe each sunset represents true love. Pure and simple. The kind of love that diligently, night after night, is committed to gently tucking the sun under the ocean, bidding her goodnight, while instilling a promise for tomorrow. And the green flash? Well, that is God reminding us that love is alive. It is here and it

Omtimes.com

is now in this moment. The green flash believers, the dreamers, the lovers of life, return paying homage, as the sunsets, like the waves that gently ebb and flow, without being told each day. With feet firmly planted in the warm summer sand, toes wiggling with anticipation. and starry eyes fixed on the warm sun, we wait, with hopes to see our glorious green flash again. That radiant flash of gorgeous, iridescent green light shooting up from the horizon. Setting our hearts on fire. The green flash represents the dream each of us holds in our hearts. The Elusiveness of Loving Ourselves Unconditionally by Crystal Presence

Unconditionally Loving Love No Matter What The ability to be unconditionally loving with ourselves can be elusive at times. Being unconditionally loving with ourselves means

Omtimes.com

freely accepting and allowing ourselves to have the lives we want, no matter what our condition. Being conditional, however, means imposing conditions on ourselves in order to allow and feel worthy enough to have the lives we want.

Bond”.) Conditions are a way to maintain the status quo and avoid taking full responsibility for our lives.

We strive to be “unconditionally loving” with ourselves, yet find ourselves like a fish in water. We fool ourselves into thinking we are being unconditional only to discover that we are swimming in a sea of conditional thoughts and feelings.

Deluding ourselves that we can only be happy, free and positive under certain conditions.

The question is, “Why would we fool ourselves into thinking we are being unconditional?

Holding on to future conditions; as in, “My parents had that condition so I will have that condition too.”

Think about it…. Many people hold back as a way to maintain the delusion that their lives are under control. Putting conditions on themselves is the perfect way to maintain that fantasy (as described so well by Robert Firestone in his well respected book called, “The Fantasy

How Do We Hold Back? The following are some of the elusive ways we hold back using certain conditions:

Holding on to conditions from our past; as in,” If only I had made different choices back then I would be able to unconditionally love myself today.”

Holding onto present conditions by comparing ourselves; as in, “I need to compare myself with successful people so I can imitate them, or use them to decide whether or not I am worthy enough to have the life I want.” Believing that we must

be a fully unconditionally loving person as a condition on whether or not we can unconditionally love ourselves. Needing proof that letting go of our present condition is the best thing to do before we are sure the next condition is better. Being nice, conforming, accommodating or unimposing as conditions to be loved. Being right as a condition that we may be holding onto after years of being tested and graded on whether or not we are able to get the right answers! Holding on to pain, struggle and conflict as a condition to fit into the agreement field of mass consciousness.

Cultural Conditions We May Impose We also live in a culture that has its own set conditions for being loved. The following are a few of the most common cultural conditions we might be imposing upon ourselves. “To love myself I must be…

Omtimes.com

Successful Hard working Smart In service to others Self sacrificing Needless to say, being unconditional can be challenging, confusing and elusive at times. A man once stood up at large gathering where the Dalai Lama was speaking. The man said he was having a hard time overcoming his habit of being judgmental. Being judgmental made him wonder if it would ever be possible for him to be unconditionally loving with himself or others. The Dalai Lama laughed and said, “Everyone sees the truth and it doesn’t mean we are judgmental or being conditional with our love. Seeing the truth of things is natural. Whether or not we are being judgmental or conditional is all about what we do with what we see.” Think about it…

There is Good News on

Being Unconditionally Loving Many of us have a shared experience of having someone who assumes there is essentially something wrong with us. This leaves us feeling shamed and bad for our condition. We may also know someone who radiates the wonderful feeling of loving us, no matter what our condition. THE GOOD NEWS IS: We can cultivate the ability to be unconditionally loving. It helps to know that the source of our lives has only love and appreciation for who we are, no matter what our condition. Nothing we can do or say will ever change the abundance of that love. We might as well forget about trying to control ourselves into the perfect condition that we think we should have to unconditionally love ourselves. At a certain point in our evolution we all have to face the truth. The truth that we are unconditionally loving energy beings, have been and always will be. And even

if we hold back (control, manipulate, resist or rebel), sooner or later our source will have its way with us. Source will ultimately find the way to support and guide us into unconditionally loving ourselves and others. Our mission, if we decide to take it, is to remember that the lives we want are always available to us.
