O futuro já não é o que era

The future is no longer what it was

Há cerca de 4 anos atrás escrevi um artigo de opinião com este título onde abordei sobretudo questões relacionadas com a educação, o fomento do empreendedorismo e as condições necessárias para a criação de um ecossistema que potenciasse ao máximo o espírito de iniciativa, a criatividade e a assunção de riscos.

Nos dias que correm quase que faria mais sentido dizer “O PRESENTE JÁ NÃO É O QUE ERA”. Não quero perder muito tempo neste meu artigo a falar da crise pandémica muito menos de questões relacionadas com a saúde pública ou até com a crise económica que já se sente e que se vai agudizar nos próximos tempos. Já estamos todos deprimidos o suficiente!... Farei um esforço por ser optimista, sem nunca perder noção da realidade, no sentido de vislumbrar algo de positivo, de esperança e alguma luz, por mais ténue que seja, no fim deste túnel maldito... tentarei pelo menos!

Um dia, algum dia, tudo isto vai acabar... aí, e nesse dia, mil e uma oportunidades vão aparecer! Esta pandemia não escolheu género, cor, raça, religião, idade ou classe social. Igualmente, a crise económica que a acompanha foi, é e será semelhante... não escolheu empresas saudáveis ou não, rentáveis ou não, estruturadas ou não, estratégicas ou não nem mesmo viáveis ou não. Acredito que este mar de oportunidades será, igualmente e na sua essência, transversal a todos os sectores e atividades.

About 4 years ago, I wrote an opinion article with this title, where I mainly addressed issues related to education, the promotion of entrepreneurship, and the necessary conditions for the creation of an ecosystem that would maximize the spirit of initiative, creativity, and risk-taking.

These days it would almost make more sense to say, “THE PRESENT IS NO LONGER WHAT IT WAS”. I don’t want to waste a lot of time in this article of mine talking about the pandemic crisis, much less about issues related to public health or even the economic crisis that is already being felt and that will get worse in the near future. We are all depressed enough! ... I will try to be optimistic, without ever losing sight of reality, in order to glimpse something positive, hope and some light, however faint, at the end of this damn tunnel... I will try at least!

One day, someday, all this will end ... there, and on that day, a thousand and one opportunities will appear! This pandemic did not choose gender, color, race, religion, age, or social class. Likewise, the economic crisis that accompanied it was, is, and will be similar ... it did not choose healthy or unprofitable companies, profitable or not, structured or not, strategic or not even viable or not. I believe that this sea of opportunities will also be transversal to all sectors and activities.

A história ensinou-nos que depois da tempestade vem sempre a bonança e tem sido assim ao longo dos tempos após grandes calamidades e guerras. Além das oportunidades criadas por vazios deixados pelo desaparecimento de empresas e restruturação de setores e atividades iremos assistir a um reforço das verbas comunitárias como nunca visto já a partir do próximo ano e que podem funcionar como importantes motores da economia.

Para aqueles que se aguentarem ou ousarem se aguentar, para aqueles que conseguirem e souberem esperar, temporizar e gerir na verdadeira essência da palavra haverá um amanhã, um day after.

O presente já não é, efetivamente, o que era... mas o futuro pode e vai ser o que nós quisermos que seja. Estou certo que a capacidade de sacrifício e resiliência dos empresários e empreendedores, neste momento, será paga com sucesso, juros e lucros mais tarde.

History has taught us that after the storm there is always the calm and it has been like this throughout the times after great calamities and wars. In addition to the opportunities created by the voids left by the disappearance of companies and the restructuring of sectors and activities, we will see a reinforcement of community funds as never seen from next year and that can act as important drivers of the economy.

For those who hold on or dare to hold on, for those who manage and know how to wait, time and manage in the true essence of the word there will be a tomorrow, a day after.

The present is no longer what it really was ... but the future can and will be whatever we want it to be. I am sure that the capacity for sacrifice and the resilience of businessmen and entrepreneurs, at this time, will be successfully paid, interest and profits later.
