In its day CHE was the largest LGBT organisation Britain has ever known, with 5000+ members and over 150 local groups. It didn't change the world, but it softened it up for the great changes of 1990s-2000s, as people came out to their local priests, doctors, WI groups, etc etc as well as having a good time. Often berated for being very conservative, in fact in its

early days CHE was seen as dangerously radical, and was run by a couple of teenagers out of a basement flat in Greater Manchester. Peter is hoping to demolish a few myths, and tell a few entertaining stories on the way. Please do come along with your own stories and memories and contribute to the evening.
