There are a number of eye ca atching symbols which can attract not only football fans but also tourists who are just interested in the World Cup. The official Mascot is the one worth mentioning. Its name is Zabivaka™ which means “the one who scores” in Russian, a very suitable name for this wolf who radiates fun, charm and confidence. Zabivaka™ was named only after the most engaging creative process for an Official Mascot in FIFA World Cup history. The Official Mascot plays a very important role in 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. The wolf not only promotes the event and entertains crowds at the stadium ms, but also it has become a Russian ambassador and a worldwide ''celebrity''. As the world is following the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Yerevan hasn't stood apart from this worldwide occasion. While walking in Yerevan at night you can hear people crying outloud for the scored goal or, may be, the lost game. The city lives with football. The Apricot
T
he season of summer fruit has begun since June considered to be the month of apricots. Every year the country bursts with trees loaded with the biggest, juiciest, and most flavorful apricots in the world. It's not accidental that apricot is treated as typically Armenian fruit. Even its scientific name, Prunus Armeniaca, or Armenian prunes, honors that fact. Recently, apricot cores have been excavated from the ancient Armenian village of Garni supporting the theory that Armenians have been cultivating apricots for over 3,000 years. Besides having the fruit in loads on the summer tables, Armenians simply cannot spend the rest of the year without consuming apricots processed into other food and drinks. APRICOT MARMALADE AND JAM No Armenian tea table is complete without golden apricot marmalade and jam. All through the apricot season, Armenian housewives diligently peel and cook the best apricots and let them simmer for hours. DRIED APRICOT Sun-dried, pitted apricots are favorite among locals and tourists. As soon as the apricot season is over, marketplaces are packed with these sweet and flavorful treats to be consumed until the next season. APRICOT WRAPS Another favorite treat is the apricot sweetwraps. While taking walks around city districts or villages, you may notice trays of pulpy apricot juice left to sun-dry on balconies. APRICOT VODKA If you have a taste for non-conventional homemade alcoholic beverages, then Armenia is the place for you. Homemade apricot vodka is a favorite traditional liquor that locals make in their backyards.

FEAST OF TRANSFIGURATION OF OUR LORD JESUS JESU CHRIST
Vardavar
V
ardavar is one of the most favorite, joyful noteworthy holidays and ancient festivals in Armenia. Started as a Pagan festival, Vardavar happens annually country-wide from the times immemorial. This festival is particularly popular with children who thoroughly enjoy the main activity – pouring buckets of water on people as a blessing and a sign of cleansing. While most visitors may not understand the significance, tourists generally appreciate the cool water as a much-needed respite from the scorching temperatures of the Armenian summer. The festival includes church ceremony, fascinating performances of folk dance and song ensembles, traditional national games, thematic pavilions of Vardavar, representing traditions of different regions, ritual dishes and artworks. Moreover, the musical performance by various popular ensembles and actors introduces to the whole world the essence of Vardavar in its own way. From the Christian point of view, The Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ is one of the five main “Tabernacle” feasts of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church. It commemorates the transformation or the “transfiguration” that came over Jesus while He was praying. Christ’s face shone like the sun and his clothes became a radiant and gleaming white. The Apostles Peter, James and John witnessed that event which occurred on a high mountain named Tabor. In the Armenian Church, the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ is celebrated 98 days following Easter. This day is associated with an old Armenian tradtion of pouring "SWAN LAKE" YEREVAN2017 water on one another. While enjoying your summer holidays in Armenia, cool yourself on 8 July by attending the event being celebrated all around the country. Don't forget to get your bucket of water!

Devil's Bridge
A
rmenian nature is amazing with its wonderful sights and miraculous monuments which make an integral part of world natural heritage. Such natural obelisks are “Devil’s Bridges”. Yes, there are many bridges in the world carrying that name including Switzerland, France, Bulgaria, etc. You can find the “Devil’s Bridge” (Satani Kamurj) in Armenia as well. The Bridge is situated in the Canyon of Vorotan River, and stretches for nearly 30 meters length. It is located in the deepest part of the gorge in the depth of 700-800 meters. In that part the gorge is so narrow that even the sun rays are not able to penetrate to the bottom of the gorge surrounded with many mountainous springs the waters of which had painted the rocks of the canyon with pink, yellow and green colors. This wonderful structure is natural bridge formed from travertines. The stalactites made by the mineral water springs hang from the edges of this stone arch, and there are beautiful falls rushing down from the rock caves under the natural bridge. The mineral springs are situated just under the bridge. They are poured into Vorotan River to make it more abundant. At the first sight it seems that the small and thin river flows under the bridge but, instead, we see a deeper river flowing from the bridge. Perhaps, this is the reason that people named the natural bridge “Devil’s Bridge”. Nowadays, people are used to look at the river-bed of Vorotan and say, “It is the devil’s work…” It is known that still in the ancient times Armenian wealthy people used to visit this wonderful cave in summer months to have a bath in the healthy waters of the basins. If you walk and have a look around, you will encounter two pools: one is handmade, and the other is natural. The handmade pool is warm and is constantly refreshed from above. The natural one is cool and noisy. It is for you to decide which one to choose. Moreover, the legend goes that the people running to Tatev were blocked by the river nearby. And before the invaders could attack, a rock bridge was magically spread on the river, saving the people in despair.
