A R E S U N S C R E E N S O N LY FOR SUMMER? by Steph

So as we leave the warmer summer months most people will be putting away the sunscreens -- but stop right there! It is really important to wear sunscreen daily even during the winter months.

Why is that? Well let me tell you; the sun still has harmful rays all year round and, although it may not physically burn, it can still damage the skin. It can cause the extra production of melanin thus resulting in hyperpigmentation. This can happen not only while your outside but also through the windscreen of a car or even a shop window.

J E W E L L E RY At ORBE we have a stunning collection of beautiful jewellery to choose from. With an array of sterling silver dipped in yellow or rose gold, as well as semi-precious stones. Favourites of the moment include jewellery featuring rose quartz, chalcedony and pale blue larimar.

One of the biggest accessory trends for 2014 and 2015 has been wearing multiple rings on a single hand, often with double rings stuck to one another. This was also seen on the Autumn/Winter 2015-2016 runway shows. Rings with double bands were spotted as well, twisting and turning around the pinkie and ring fingers. Pieces using mixed metals, along with some gorgeous statement rings (to make more of a statement) were also seen on the catwalks of the Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks!

We know that there are a whole lot of pearls coming this Autumn and Winter. This versatile trend is one of the classier options of the past and can be morphed into something modern while still appearing quite sophisticated. Pearls are incredibly beautiful and can be both on the inexpensive side as well as really bankbreaking - depending on the quality. Man-made optons are the cheapest, while the freshwater comes in second The saltwater on the other hand is in a league of it’s own - incredible products of nature that appear in different colours and textures and sizes all over the world.

Swarovski crystal statement chokers were a big deal on the Balenciaga runway show, with their graphic edginess and touch of punk that rivalled the sophistication seen throughout the collection. Crystal collars were also spotted at Givenchy - pieces that were as fine and supple as lace - with coloured jewels.

Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.

As consumers seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern-day stresses, welcoming colours that psychologically fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent. Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose-tone and the cooler, tranquil blue which reflects connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.

B O H E M I A N WAV E S The prettiest and simplest hairstyle trends of the Spring and Summer seasons remain as strong as ever for Autumn and Winter. Hairstylists understood the popularity and the appeal of the boho waves and decided they were going to leave this trend as is, without changing a single thing about it. Long hair that appears to be naturally air-dried was worn by the ladies, as they walked the runway with their unwound and effortless perfection.

Thick texture and kinky movements were seen here, as if the hair had been braided while damp and left to dry under the sun beating overhead. The Anna Sui catwalk was full of this hairstyle, while the Versace ladies looked fierce and warrior-like, as if princesses of the wild north. We saw the naturally textured wavy hair take its stand on the spring/summer runway shows, appearing all over the place. We knew that as a 1970s staple, these locks would be back in style, considering the fact that 2015 seems to be all about celebrating that suede filled floral printed bohemian inspired era.

The Tory Burch waves were looser and longer, while Rodarte’s had a bit more of a playful flounce. Think morning-after hair with little bits of the baby strands along the hairline when it comes to Ralph Lauren, the side part accentuated with the Jason Wu collection. From the simple textured waves of the Mugler women with their deep side parts to the gorgeous center parts on the Roberto Cavalli and Calvin Klein princesses, there is something to be said about the part of the hair changing the whole of the style.
