Hair we go again, fashionistas HUE NEW: Hair by Sam James-Cockayne of ORBE North Adelaide, and inset, Kylie Jenner.

OUT-THERE hair colour and cuts are growing in popularity on and off the catwalk. Earlier this year, models strutted the catwalk for Ashish at London Fashion Week in over-the-top sequinned outfits and larger-than-life Afro wigs in a rainbow of colours, including pastel purple, bright yellow, shocking pink and emerald green. Celebrities also dyeing to show off the head-turning look include Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Kylie Jenner, who has had teal, pink, orange and blue tresses.

Orbe North Adelaide owner Sam James-Cockayne said her clients were becoming more adventurous with colours. They tended to start by experimenting with the trend by trying one or a combination of pastel colours, which were the least permanent, she said. “My favourite this season is any shade of rose gold – soft, copperpink tones,” she said. Ms James-Cockayne is the only South Australian hairdresser to be included among 10 national finalists in the Creative Colorists category of

If someone calls me to do something I’ll do it – but I think they’re actually in the studio right now – the four of them — kind of writing.” And as for Albert not being there – he’s OK with that. “I’m super happy not to be there,” he laughs. “Sure part of me has or will feel sad but part of me is happy not to feel certain things. “Dynamics change between friends, and that’s natural. The thing with Housewives is, you have a fight with someone and then you’re forced to see them the next day,’’ she says. “In a normal situation there would be time for everyone to take a breath.” In Adelaide on a promotional visit yesterday, Gina was more complimentary to new housewife Susie McLean.

“Susie and I have known each other for years, I went to her wedding,” says Gina. “She’s lovely but I don’t think you really get to see all of her character in this season. Hopefully she stays on for another year.” And if you think that all the drama is played up for the cameras, Confidential can tell you first-hand that Gina is as larger than life in the flesh. The larger-than-life aerosol portrait on the side of a department store in the Starman’s UK birthplace of Brixton became a shrine when he died from cancer in January. Lambeth Council says a local listing will protect it, and is also talking to Bowie’s family about ideas for a permanent memorial and looking at renaming the area in his honour. S A M J A M E S - C O C K AY N E It’s been a stellar year for Sam and the team at Orbe, winning this year’s National Visionary Award, making national finalist in the AHIA (Australia Hair Industry Awards) as well as Newcomer Business of the Year and, most recently, a nomination in the Telstra Businesswoman of the Year Awards!

June long weekend saw Sam up on stage in Melbourne for the Hair Expo 2016. Part of the winning experience for Sam’s AHIA win for The Visionary Award was to create a show with a national team for the biggest night of the weekend, The Gen Next Gala Night. The theme was to honour a world famous runway hairdresser. Eugene Souleiman, recreating with her own interpretation 2 of his famous runway looks. One model included beautiful head braids with Jewel ornamentation and the other wore a waist length ponytail with false heavy bangs cut solid with the clippers.

& SHINE

As many of you are aware (and have probably had your hands on by now) we introduced the new Goldwell Kerasilk range into the salons a couple of months ago. Within this brand there are 4 ranges. The focusses of these are on: ultimate control, volume, optimum shine and reconstruction. With natural keratin and silk as the key ingredients, every product provides beautiful strength and shine. But don’t take our word for it alone, we’ve asked a few of our converted clients with unruly frizzy or flat lifeless hair to share their thoughts on the new line.

14

J A N E T R O T T E R : Long fuzzy curls lacking shine. Hard to time and keep smooth (upper image). I am loving the new Kerasilk range! My hair now feels so soft and silky particularly after an in salon treatment. I have quite wavy hair and frizzy so I’m always on the hunt for the right product to tame the curl and reduce the frizz. Kerasilk certainly delivers! My favourite take home product Is the control rich oil which I use everyday as a treatment and to control it. It’s great as it doesn’t weigh my hair down like other oils.

There was a collaboration between Andy Warhol and The Velvet Underground called the “Exploding Plastic 22

PA R A D I S E B E A C H The final story of the Kevin Murphy 2016 campaign, Paradise Beach, takes us back to our Australian roots, whilst featuring curls, “the new cool girls’ calling card”.

In this bright blue, white and green environment we played with texture and colour with sunny bright blondes, honey tones and tawny browns with a pop of brightness. Using wave in a new and fresh way the hair is organic and touchable either on long hair or short choppy Kevin Murphy cuts. Wave and curl that is perfect for a day at the beach or a night out. Paperbark Camp in Jervis Bay is one of Australia’s original permanent tented camps, and continues to be at the forefront of the glamping revolution. Situated on the banks of a peaceful waterway near the coastal town of Huskisson, the luxury safari style tents are thoughtfully placed amongst the soaring spotted gums and intriguing paperbark trees and feature all the creature comforts you would expect for a luxe camping experience. Combining a unique Australian bush experience with great food, tranquil surroundings and genuine hospitality, guests can get back to nature in style and comfort whilst exploring the famous white beaches and National Parks that Jervis Bay has to offer.

On the Runway SPRING/SUMMER 2016 GUCCI It was still his classic blend of geek-chic but amped up with solid Gucci accessory references and everything in between. From colour to decoration; frills and glitter; shine, sequins and embroidery, all dazzling down the sheer column flounced dresses.

DOLCE & GABBANA The show was called Italia is Love - and it was a world tour of references: Peruvian pom-poms, chinoiserie dresses, riviera-style, Italian tradition—all transposed 24

the Dolce & Gabbana way. With lace, opulent embroidery and embellishment, including those Fifties sundress silhouettes or alternatively those hour-glass styles or tunics with trumpet sleeves.

PR A DA From cropped jackets with an an emphasis on the skirt suit (from short to knee-length), the show gained momentum from there. Black net perched at the neck as though caught on this season’s Prada girl in a wind tunnel; a great styling detail.
