This completely durable product can be used to overlay natural nails to add strength or can be used to extend the nail for length. It has all the great qualities of an acrylic, being strong and tough, but also the great qualities of a gel nail, being extremely lightweight on the nail bed and still slightly flexible. Dr Kylie Austin GP and Cosmetic Physician Dr Kylie is a GP with over 20 years’ experience and is an expert in the field of women’s’ health and cosmetic injectables. She has a meticulous eye and believes in enhancing your natural features to achieve subtle and desired results. She will perform a full facial assessment and personalise a treatment plan just for you. Dr Kylie will advise you on what will work best within your budget and about any complications possible with each procedure. Many treatments in the world of aesthetic medicine utilize dermal fillers and muscle relaxing injections. Dr Kylie Austin has been performing these treatments for many years and continues to update her knowledge and techniques. Both male and female patients are seeking these treatments. Renew your appearance and confidence and book an appointment today. Dermal Fillers Dr Kylie uses dermal fillers based on hyaluronic acid. This molecule is one of the natural building blocks already present in our skin. Hyaluronic acid is the molecule that attracts water into the skin and so when injected into the skin it attracts water to fill lines, creases and hollows. There are a number of products available with different thicknesses and consistencies and the specific uses will be discussed at the initial consultation. Typical areas for dermal filler treatments include lips either for enhancement or rehydration,

enhancement of cheeks and chin, naso-labial folds, marionette lines, minimize jowls, improve the under eye area and treatments to re-establish facial volume. The hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be used in larger volumes to achieve a non-surgical face-lift. The dermal filler procedure takes between 20-40 minutes. All the products used have local anaesthetic in them to improve the comfort for the patient. Local anaesthetic cream or injections may also be used. A week before the treatment you should stop any aspirin, anti-inflammatory tablets and fish oil you are taking unless there is a medical reason to keep taking them. This helps to decrease bruising. After a dermal filler procedure you can expect some redness, swelling and perhaps bruising. These can last several days but can usually be masked by make-up. Every effort is made to minimize these effects but the mechanical fact of introducing a needle through the skin means a bruise is easily caused. The needles used are extremely fine to try to lessen discomfort and bruising. In some patients a touch up treatment is needed after 2 weeks to correct asymmetry. Dermal filler treatments last for 6-18 months depending on type and location of the filler. If you are interested in this treatment please phone to make an appointment with Dr Kylie to discuss this. Muscle Relaxing Injections Expression lines become more prominent as we age. They occur due to the repetitive movement of the facial muscles of expression. The most prominent are frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines. These

S p r in g / S umm e r - 2 017

lines are best treated with injections of muscle relaxants. The muscle relaxant is a purified protein that stops the signal from the nerve to the muscle and so the muscle relaxes and lines soften. Some other areas can also be treated including top lip lines, mouth frown, jaw-line, neck bands, teeth grinding and excessive sweating. The treatment is almost painless with very fine needles used to inject into the muscles. There are very few side effects. It takes 3-14 days for the treatment to take effect and lasts for 3-6 months. If you are interested in muscle relaxant injections then please phone to make an appointment with Dr Kylie to discuss this further. Most patients can expect the wrinkle reduction treatments to last 3 months or longer once the optimal dose is determined. Lip Fillers 1ml $490 to $560 Dermal Fillers for Cheeks and Facial Rejuvenation 1ml from $650ml As a guide for facial rejuvenation a women in her 20’s needs about 1 to 2ml, a women in her 30’s 2 to 3ml, a women in her 40’s 3 to 4ml and so on.

Natural Curls If you’re blessed with natural curls, embrace them. Nothing looked cooler on the spring/summer 2017 catwalks than a bounty of beautiful curls, whether Mica Arganaraz’s shoulderlength brunette style or Lineisy Montero’s cropped afro. See Proenza Schouler, where Arganaraz’s hair was the perfect foil for the season’s oversized earrings. The spring 2017 hairstyles would be nothing without a good curl trend. This year’s curls are big and bold. Curls are a really fun hair choice, especially when they’re done in a messier and more natural style, rather than previous seasons’ ultra clean bottleneck curls. At the Proenza Schouler show, the curls we saw appeared soft to the touch. They weren’t too big, nor too small, and somehow bridged the gap between too wild and too tight. At Alexander Wang, the models’ hair appeared naturally curly, as though their locks had been sprayed with a bit of salt water and maybe a texturizing spray. Just a little wet, and very curly and wavy! By the way, the creation of such a hairstyle does not necessarily mean the use of hair curlers. Remember what you were doing when you were in school, when you were braiding your hair at night and in the morning you were waking up with curly hair.

Fascinators Firstly, it’s 2017 and we need to acknowledge current fascinator trends (or head pieces as they are probably more aptly referred to these days). Gone are the days of those feathery twisted mesh things that sat atop our heads like entries from Sculpture by the Sea. Metal head pieces or anything in headband form is the absolute rage! How to wear a fascinator is essentially deciding how you’re going to wear your hair with it. The good news is most fascinators look great with a vast range of hair styles, so it’s really up to you to choose which works best for the vibe or look you’re going for a given occasion. Neat, slicked back hair in a ponytail is not only a relatively easy do-ityourself option, it’s a great way to let your millinery or headpiece take centre stage. Jazz up this old classic by curling the ponytail for extra bounce, or looping your pony around the tie using an accessory. For a sexier more casual look, embrace a loose side pony and even put in a few links of a plait at the very end before tying.

There’s no better way to classup your look than with a bun. Take your top knot to the next level and experiment with a range of donut accessories to enhance size. Get creative with texturizing the hair like crimping and curling sections before pinning it up. Channel your inner-Audrey and create more of a ‘roll’ look and position your headpiece to compliment. Be patient and make sure you have plenty of bobby pins! For those who prefer to wear their hair out, or for shorter styles, a day at the races is your time to really get creative with your tools and products. For a striking beach babe wave opt for a wide barrel brush to compliment a more simple dress or head piece, or put that straightener to work and pull your hair to one side and show off those cheekbones for a sleek, sexy look. Have some fun with teasing at the roots and perfect your ends with product for a structured finish. Don’t just wait for the races; there are lots of events, cocktail parties, formals or maybe even festivals!

Runway Braids Depending on how they’re styled, French and Dutch braids can convey a lot of different images – that is why it is not surprising that they are featured as one of the leading spring/ summer 2017 hairstyle trends. Some stylists took the braids to a more urban place by channelling cornrows, while others created a more prim and proper look. Christian Dior’s effect of the Dutch braids at the back of the head leant an urban style to the look, which was all about a sophisticated high bun from the front. At Emporio Armani, we saw double French braids utilized to create a severe yet girlish style – just imagine the hairstyles approved by a very strict all girl’s school, but with a high fashion twist. At A Detacher, the effect of the braids was striking, with the models being fitted with 4 symmetrical Dutch braids on each corner of their head. We also saw clever uses of French and Dutch braids on the Emilia Wickstead and Valentin Yudashkin catwalks. As you see the fishtail braid can be styled into various ways. The look of fishtail based on your natural texture. With the help of fishtails you can get a chic updo style. This particular updo requires two braided fishtails which are fun to pull off. If it gets a bit messy, don’t worry since messiness adds some character and personality to the look.

GretaKate GretaKate is a bridal brand that focuses on effortless and contemporary bespoke gowns all lovingly hand-crafted in their vNorwood showroom. The most recent collection ‘Ever After’ was launched at the Adelaide Fashion Festival. It’s a 12-piece range which pushes the boundaries of typical bridal wear. We spent many months sourcing fabrics from around the world for this range. It features everything from lace and beading to feathers and ruffles. Fabrics are always a starting point for a new range. We also take a lot of inspiration from past and current clients. This range was shot at a beautiful property in Dawesley and I love the contrast between the rustic walls and the couture gowns. So many hands go into new campaigns and I’m so grateful to have such a wonderful team. Spring / Summer 2017 Head-to-Toe Florals

Playing Peek a Boo

Style Notes: “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking,” recites every person who has watched The Devil Wears Prada ever. Well, actually, this time around, they really are. So rad in colouration, scale, fabrication and mood that designers thought it best to go full throttle in full blooms from head to toe—shoes included. From double doses of Rococo-style jacquard florals with ruffles and raw hems at Marques’Almeida to subdued, blousy ‘70s bouquets at Chloé and neon carnations at Balenciaga, there is nothing standard about these arrangements. No ditsy prints here in this S/S 17 version of the fashion trend, thanks.

Springtime Wimsy This theme evolves from the Garden Party trend of Pre-Summer, in which femininity and eccentricity are the leitmotifs. A return to ladylike dressing is key, where a true sense of occasion dressing is expressed in overtly feminine silhouettes. Whimsical floor-skimming dresses are created in sheer fluid silks while pretty florals are sprinkled over delicate materials. Transparency emerges as an important direction, inspiring a need for elegant layering.

Key colours pale pink, beige, white, buttercream, red, green, pastels Key prints & patterns garden blooms and hedgerow florals of all shapes and sizes Key materials silks, silk chiffons, crepe de chine, soft gabardine Key items elongated coats, layered dresses, ruffled blouses, highwaisted trousers, slim pencil skirts, full skirts

Style Notes: The see-through dress ruled supreme in London. Well, in a city where the lines between party outfits and day-to-day looks are forever blurred, it makes sense. LFW wunderkind Molly Goddard led the pack with her confections of pastelhued tulle and the trend continued well into Paris. We fantasised over the balletic ensembles under Maria Grazia Chiuri’s debut Dior collection— Bella Hadid has been the first out and about wearing them, the lucky girl. So how to wear this semi-opaque spring/summer 2017 fashion essential? Firstly, remember this is a million (pretty-punk) miles away from the A-list world’s “naked dress” obsession. You don’t want tight, and you don’t the want modesty-saving embellishment, because you’ll be layering it up. It’s also dependent on how bravely you’ll dare to bare. Keep it casual by flinging a gossamer-light sheer slip-of-a-thing over jeans and a tee, or go the full nine yards and style out with a flash of giant knickers. The latter is not a formula for work, but it is a fast track to feeling au courant, for sure.

ORBE -

p a g e 25

Magpie Opulence This trend is inspired by art, museums and theatre, along with an eclectic mix of the tradition and opulence. The idea of extreme individuality is encapsulated within silhouettes that celebrate unique style. Continuing the influence of ‘magpie-like’ collecting, and fuelled by the eccentric creativity of Gucci and Alessandro Michele, designers run rife with references to a variety of eras as history provides inspiration. The combination of active influences, opulent architecture, royal retrospectives and historical patterns creates an individualistic narrative perfect for modern dressing. Key colours yellow, red, orange, vibrant pink, black, gold Key prints & patterns florals, hand-drawn images, historical and architectural references Key materials jacquards, brocades, silks, tulle, pleating, sequins, glitter Key items vintage-inspired pieces: jackets, skirts, dresses

Post Minimalism Style Notes: Just don’t call it minimalistic. There’s so much more to the catwalk’s beautiful antithesis to all of the mix ‘n’ match madness we’ve already spoken out. This brand of purism comes armed with subtle details to make even the simplest item (take a cardigan, for example) seem like the most exciting thing you’ve ever seen. From tactile fabrics (micropleats through to earthy, luxe, comfortable hessian) designers from J.W.Anderson to Stella McCartney have also played with volume, shape and a seriously practical spectrum of utilitarian colours that go with literally everything you own already. If your fashion approach has always been “less is more,” join the gang. S p r in g / S umm e r - 2 017
