Orlando, FL - Just in time for tax season, Valencia College accounting students and professors will offer free tax preparation help to the public. The volunteer tax preparers will be e-filing electronic returns for free at two Valencia College campuses on select Saturdays in March and April. This service is open to the public, and preference will be given to senior citizens, the disabled and low-income individuals. At Valencia College’s East Campus, the tax sessions will be held on March 19 and 26; and April 2 and 9. The sessions will take place in build-
ing 7, rooms 117 and 118. The hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The East Campus is located at 701. N. Econlockhatchee Trail, Orlando. At the college’s Osceola Campus in Kissimmee, the tax sessions will be held every Saturday from now through April 2, except on March 12, when Valencia College will be closed for spring break. City of Orlando Launches RISE Office in partnership with CareerSource Central Florida Orlando, FL - The Orlando City Council approved several initiatives to launch the new RISE Employment and Training Program, an initiative by the City of Orlando in partnership with CareerSource Central Florida to ensure affected Orlando residents by COVID-19, have equitable access to job training opportunities, counseling, and support services to significantly increase their employability. To accomplish this goal and support residents in need of these services, the City will lease space at 1221 West Colonial Drive, Suite 301, to establish the RISE Employment and Training Program Office and provide in-person assistance connecting residents with job training and employment opportunities.
The RISE office will be staffed in partnership with CareerSource Central Florida, the region's official job search agency, to connect residents with the agency's extensive network of employers; vocational skills training partners; and apprenticeship programs; as well as access to scholarships. Through the RISE Employment and Training Program, participants will have access to comprehensive services including social services, career assessments; case management; career counseling; job search and placement assistance; and basic computer training. Other benefits of the new RISE Employment and Training Program are:
• Connections to the CareerSource network which has more than 100 short-term job and vocational training programs and provides short-term training for careers in high-demand, high-wage industries such as health care, advanced manufacturing, technology, finance hospitality, construction and trade/logistics. • Opportunities for residents to defray tuition costs through federal resources, including City funds received through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). • Eligibility for City of Orlando residents to receive a training allowance in the amount of $125 per week to help cover the costs of transportation, housing, child

Mrs. Foodie - A Taste of local Restaurants Torneo de escuelas superiores La semana pasada dio inició el torneo de baseball de las escuelas superiores. A mí me gusta darme la vuelta por los alrededores para ver el desempeño de estos jóvenes. Fui al primer encuentro de la escuela Four Corner Uppers School contra la Rige Commiunity. Al comenzar el partido me llamó mucho la atención de un jovencito zurdo que jugaba la primera base porque era muy activo se movía muy rápido. Defendía su posición a capa y espada. Se paraba en el “home play” con una precisión y una confianza en sí mismo. Rápido saque papel y lápiz y comencé a anotar. Cuando vi el “pitcher” del otro equipo que le doblaba la estatura. Yo dije: “wau, a lo mejor el machito ni va a ver la bola”, pero me calló la boca, le
dio un roletazo por segunda. Luego en la tercera entrada lo traen como relevista. Tiró dos entradas casi perfectas retiró 4 bateadores por la vía del ponche, se paraba en la lomita como un profesional. Observé un señor grabándolo, asumí que era el papá y me presenté le pregunte si podía escribir alguna reseña sobre él y me dio el visto bueno le pregunté el nombre y la edad, para mi sorpresa este ‘zurdito de oro’ solo tiene 12 años y cursa el 7mo grado en el Distrito Escolar de Osceola del estado de la Florida. Enfrentó bateadores de 16 a 18 años ponchando 4 potentes bateadores. Es increíble este jovencito que responde al nombre de Uziel Feliz Lugo con el número 20 en su espalda. Pónganle el ojo.

St. Cloud, FL - La ceremonia de juramentación de Douglas Goerke, quien fue contratado como el nuevo jefe de policía de St. Cloud, se llevó a cabo el jueves 3 de marzo. El jefe Goerke fue juramentado por el gerente de la Ciudad de St. Cloud Bill Sturgeon. La juramentación contó con la asistencia de oficiales del Sheriff del Condado Osceola, la Policía de
St. Cloud y de la Ciudad de Kissimmee así como el Departamento de Bomberos de St. Cloud. Goerke reemplaza al jefe Peter Gauntlett, quien se jubiló a fines del año pasado después de desempeñarse como director de seguridad pública y jefe de policía de la ciudad durante los últimos 11 años. Goerke estuvo con el Departa-
mento de Policía de Orlando (OPD por sus siglas en inglés) durante 20 años, comenzando como oficial y abriéndose camino a través de las filas. Antes de ser asignado recientemente como comandante de la División de Patrullas, Goerke se desempeñó durante un año como director de Servicios de Policía del Aeropuerto para OPD. También fue subjefe de policía durante un año.

St. Cloud Police Chief swaring-in ceremony St. Cloud, FL - The swaring-in ceremony for Douglas Goerke, who was hired as the new St. Cloud police chief was held on Thursday March 3rd. City of St. Cloud, Florida City Manager Bill Sturgeon did the swearing-in. The swearing in was attended by officers from the Oscoela County Sheriff, the St. Cloud Police and the City of Kissimmee as well as the St. Cloud Fire Department.
Goerke replaces Chief Peter Gauntlett, who retired at the end of last year after serving as the city’s public safety director and police chief for the past 11 years. Goerke was with OPD for 20 years, starting as an officer and working his way through the ranks. Before recently being assigned as Patrol Division commander, Goerke served for a year as the Director of Airport Police Services for OPD. He
also was a deputy chief of police for a year. Goerke holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Liberty University and a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia Southern University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and holds numerous certifications in specialized law enforcement training. Chief Goerke starded his new role in January.

The names and addresses of the personal representative and the personal representative's attorney are set forth below All creditor of the decedent and other persons having claims or demands against Decedent's estate, including unmatured, contingent or unliquidated claims on whom a copy of this notice is served must file their claims with the Court WITHIN THE LATER OF 3 MONTHS AFTER THE DATE OF THE FIRST PUBLICATION OF THIS NOTICE OR 30 DAYS AFTER THE DATE OF SERVICE OF A COPY OF THIS NOTICE ON THEM.
