Kissimmee, FL - On Friday 13th, the City of Kissimmee hosted a “SunRail Sneak Peak” event at the Civic Center.

Nearly 250 Central Florida investors, developers and business leaders tour the SunRail route in an Amtrak train, from Deland to Kissimmee to learn about development opportunities along the various SunRail station stops.

Once in Kissimmee, participants got off the train and walk through an exposition to learn more about Transit Oriented Development.

If the project goes well, in 30 year the SunRail could generated more than 250.000 jobs in Central Florida.

Congressman Grayson honors leaders for their effort to assist Central Florida veterans Osceola County, FL Congressman Alan Grayson recently honored two community leaders for their efforts to assist the Central Florida veterans’ community.

County Commissioner Michael Harford and Don Smith, chairman of the board of directors of the Osceola Museum of Military History, were honored with certificates of Congressional Recognition when Grayson met with veterans from Orange, Osceola and Polk counties to discuss their priorities and listen to their concerns at the facility on West U.S. Highway 192.

“Congressman Grayson has a special place in his heart for the veterans’ community, so it was no surprise that he would take time to meet with and listen to what they had to say. It was an honor to be

recognized and to participate in the dialog about what can be done to help those who have sacrificed and served their country,” said Harford, whose certificate reads, “For your exemplary leadership as Osceola County Commissioner for District 1 and serving your country and the Veteran Community.”

The congressional certificates typically acknowledge the accomplishments of community leaders, constituents, and community organizations that participate in civic engagement and help the community.

“I wasn’t really expecting anything but I appreciate it,” said Smith, whose certificate states, “For your exemplary leadership within the veterans community and dedicated service as chairman of the Osceola Museum of Military History.”

The museum was a fitting place for the meeting, Smith said, as the museum stands as a reminder of the true cost of freedom and honors our veterans.

Valencia College to help guide the establishment of community college in Saudi Arabia Orlando, FL - Valencia College has signed an agreement with Princess Noura University (PNU) to develop several Associate in Science (A.S.) degrees that the university would offer at a new women’s community college in Saudi Arabia, the planning of which Valencia would also have a hand in.

Today, college leaders announced the international partnership to help strengthen Valencia’s outreach abroad and to give Saudi Arabian women the opportunity to acquire job skills in a twoyear program that could also transition to a baccalaureate program.

“The relationship with PNU builds on the work of Valencia to foster ties with educational institutions abroad,” said Gaby Hawat, Valencia’s senior executive for strategic initiatives and economic development, who initiated the partnership. “We’re proud of our collaboration with PNU and hope it will lead to exchange programs in the future.”

The new community college will operate within PNU, considered to be the world’s largest university for women with approximately 55,000 students.

The college’s agreement with PNU calls for the development of degrees in business and computer science, in addition to helping PNU with a wideranging number of issues on how the new college will be designed. The contract with PNU will compensate Valencia for its work on the project and also provides full stipends for staff time and travel.

Similar initiatives at Valencia have included collaboration with Koning Willem 1 College in the Netherlands, which resulted in faculty exchanges and cross-cultural experiences for students. In addition, Valencia leaders have sought to boost the number of international students taking classes at the college through its Intensive English Program.

Sheriff & Police - Noticias / News Acusan a sospechoso de intento de asesinato Condado Osceola, FL - El 10 de septiembre, aproximadamente a las 7:30 a.m., los agentes del Sheriff del Condado Osceola respondieron al 356 Buttonwood Drive en Orlando, en referencia a una agresión con agravantes. A su llegada, los agentes observaron la puerta parcialmente abierta. Entraron en la casa y localizaron a la víctima, de 59 años de edad, del sexo femenino, en el comedor. Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder Osceola County, FL - On September 10, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 356 Buttonwood Drive in Kissimmee in reference to an aggravated battery.

Upon arrival, deputies observed the front door partially open. They entered the residence and locate the 59-year old female victim in the living room/dining room. She had injuries to her head and told deputies she and her roommate, Andy RoquesArencibia were involved in a verbal dispute when he began hitting her on the head with a metal object.

Two other roommates were in the residence but were asleep and did not witness the incident. The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Several minutes later, deputies in the area of Buttonwood Drive and

East Cedarwood located Arencibia at a school bus stop, just a few hundred feet near Parkway Middle School. When deputies approached Arencibia he told them he was “special forces police for Puerto Rico.” He had in his possession a black asp baton, a can of pepper spray, a 9-inch folding knife with a law enforcement insignia on the side and a silver badge which read, “Special Police.”

Arencibia was taken into custody and questioned by detectives. He cooperated with the investigation and based on the information, Arencibia was charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Possession of a Weapon on School Property, Unlawful Use of a Law

Enforcement Badge, Concealed Weapon and Resisting Arrest Without Violence. Arencibia was booked into the Osceola County Jail with no bond.

Padre arrestado por abuso infantil con agravantes Condado Osceola, FL - El 13 de septiembre de 2013, los miembros del Departamento de Policía de St. Cloud respondieron al Hospital de Niños Arnold Palmer en referencia a una investigación conjunta con el Departamento de Niños y Familias de la Florida (DCF, siglas en inglés), en referencia a la acusación de abuso de una menor a seis (6) meses de edad, que ingresó en el hospital con una posible fractura de fémur, un gran moretón en el pecho, posibles fracturas de costillas y una lesión en la cabeza.

Basado en la investigación anterior, los detectives del Departamento de Policía de St. Cloud obtuvieron una orden de arresto contra el padre de la niña, Chadd Michael Spicer, un hombre blanco, con FDN 01/11/1988, por violación de la ley F.S.S. 827.03(2)(a) Abuso Infantil con Agravantes de Gran Daño Físico y F.S.S. Negligencia Infantil.

El 14/09/13, alrededor de las 5:43 a.m., los detectives localizaron y arrestaron a Spicer en su residencia en St. Cloud, FL. Durante el interrogatorio, éste confesó haber herido a su hija.

Spicer fue trasladado más tarde a la Cárcel del Condado Osceola, donde se encuentra recluido sin derecho a fianza.

Andy Lazaro Roques-Arencibia (DOB 9/30/92), 356 Buttonwood Drive, Kissimmee Detectives are encouraging anyone who may have had contact with Arencibia while he was impersonating himself as a law enforcement officer to call the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at (407) 348-2222 or Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS (8477). Calls made to Crimeline remain anonymous and, tips that lead to the felony arrest of suspects and/or the recovery of stolen property and drugs are eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000 dollars.

Chadd Michael Spicer Osceola County, FL - On September 13th, 2013, members of the St. Cloud Police Department responded to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital reference to a joint investigation with the Florida Department of Children & Families (DCF); in reference to allegations of child abuse to six (6) month old female, who was admitted into the hospital with a possible broken femur, a large bruise on her chest, possible fractured ribs, and a head injury.

Based on the above investigation, Detectives from the St. Cloud Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for the child’s father, Chadd Michael Spicer, W/M, DOB 11/01/1988, for violation of F.S.S. 827.03(2)(a) Aggravated Child Abuse with Great Bodily Harm and F.S.S. Child Neglect.

On 09/14/13, at about 5:43 a.m., Detectives located and arrested Spicer at his residence in St. Cloud, FL. During questioning, he confessed to injuring his daughter.

Spicer was later transported to the Osceola County Jail where he is being held with zero bond.

A nivel local, Cornerstone Hospice cuida y atiende a más de 800 pacientes diariamente. La taquicardia supraventricular o SVT (por sus siglas en inglés) es un ritmo cardíaco anormalmente rápido.

Normalmente, no es peligroso. El SVT es uno de los muchos tipos de arritmia. Una arritmia es un problema con la velocidad o el ritmo de los latidos del corazón.

SVT stands for supraventricular tachycardia, an abnormally fast heart rhythm. It is not usually dangerous. SVT is one of many types of arrhythmia. An arrhythmia is a problem with the speed or rhythm of the heartbeat.

Most arrhythmias are harmless.

Even serious arrhythmias can be treated successfully. Most people with arrhythmias are able to live healthy lives.

Millions of Americans have arrhythmias. They are very common in older adults. Arrhythmias are more common in people who have a disease or condition that weakens the heart.

The heart is a fist-size muscle. It has four chambers—two atria on top and two ventricles below. There are four valves that open and shut with every heartbeat to control the circulation of the blood.

The heart has an internal electrical system that controls the speed and rhythm of the heartbeat. With each heartbeat, an electrical signal spreads from the top of the heart to the bottom. As it travels, the electrical signal makes the heart contract and pump blood.

At rest, a healthy adult heart beats 60 to 100 times a minute. So, the heart of a person with a pulse of 80 beats a minute, beats 115,200 times a day.

Premature beats are the most common type of arrhythmia and can occur in the atria or the ventricles.

They are usually harmless and need no treatment. A premature heartbeat is actually an extra beat between two normal heartbeats.

This arrhythmia is commonly caused by too much caffeine, nicotine, stress, or exercise.

Supraventricular arrhythmias are rapid heart rates known as tachycardias. They begin in the atria or between the atria and the ventricles. The types of these arrhythmias are atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, and Wolff-ParkinsonWhite Syndrome.
