Galicia is an autonomous community of Spain. Is it located in northwest of the Iberian Peninsula and consists of the provinces of La Coru帽a, Lugo, Ourense and Pontevedra.

Galicia borders on Portugal to the south, on the Cantabrian sea to the north, the Atlantic ocean to the west and Zamora and Le贸n to the east.


The climate of Galicia is oceanic. The capital of Galicia is Santiago de Compostela.

At this moment the Cathedral is being restored.


The flag is white, in the middle it has got a blue diagonal and on it a shield with seven white crosses. The official languages of Galicia are Castilian and Galician, Galician is a language that comes from Latin, Galician is spoken differently depending on the place of Galicia in which we are. In Galicia the religion most practised is catholicism, but other religions also practiced, for example: Hinduism, Judaism and many more, because in Spain the religion is free. One of the most famous restaurants in Santiago is the Sixteen. It is in the old part of the city. It is in San Pedro Street. This is one of the traditional restaurants in Santiago. It’s very famous in the city, so we recommend you to book a table, especially at the weekend.The menus are varied and very popular.


Menu Starters: ● Galician (tuna/ meat/ cockles/ octopus) Pie = empanada ● Table of cheese = tabla de quesos ● Baked Scallops = vieiras al horno ● Mussels = mejillones ● Barnacles = percebes First dishes : ● Octopus and potatoes = pulpo con patatas ● Fried squid= calamares fritos ● Caldo Gallego ● Soup = sopa ● Squids of the estuary = calamares de la ría Second dishes: ● Cooked meat= carne cocida ● Baked fish = pescado al horno ● Cocido gallego ● Tripes and potatoes = tripas con patatas Desserts: ● Curd = requesón ● Ears = orejas ● Santiago pie = tarta de santiago ● Fresh cheese with quince jelly= queso fresco con membrillo ● French toasts = torrijas ● Melindres


Recipe Ingredients: - 2 big onions - ¾ sunflower oil - ½kg chicken meat - 1 teaspoon of leavening - Salt - Pepper - 1 kg flour - ½ cup of water - 2 eggs Preparation: Chop the onions and the meat. Brown the onions with ¾ of sunflower oil , sprinkle with pepper. Remove the excess of (sunflower) oil and water

Mix the flour, one egg, the egg white and the leavening in a bowl stirring just until smooth. Divide dough in half Extend one half mass with a rolling pin and place it in a mould spread of oil. Add the onion and meat on the mass, and cover it with the other half of the remaining mass. Stick a fork in the dough and brush the edges with egg to seal. Bake at 200º until golden brown / for 1 hour GALICIAN MEAT PIE IS READY!!!


Iria´s experience:

I cooked “cocido gallego” with my mum and grandmother´s help. My family ate it DELICIOUS!!!

Carla´s experience I prepared intestines because it is a traditional food. it is typical and delicious, I liked the experience, I had never prepared intestines, but with my mom’s help I did it. my mom, my dad, my sister and I had them. They were delicious.


Marta’s experience: I think it is very easy to prepare “freixos” and I cooked it more times. The most difficult is to turn the “freixós” on the pam, because it is too hot. I made them with my father and I ate them with my parents, brother and grandparents.



Celeste´s experience:

I cooked octopus “ A la gallega” with my mum’s help , (it was made by my mum and me). my parents, my brother and I had it. It´s the first time. It was DELICIOUS!!!
