1. Introduction This project is about “Women in Science� because women are very important in science. The reasons to do this project are different : -To learn vocabulary -To give importance to women in science
Hypatia (370a.d. - 415a.d.) She was a Greek mathematician. ANECDOTE: She was the first female mathematician that we have reference. Elizabeth Blackwell (1821 - 1910) She was a American doctor. ANECDOTE: She was the first woman to get the title of medicine doctor. QUOTE: If society will not admit of woman’s free development, then society must be remodeled.
Hertha Ayrton (1861 - 1952) She was a German psychoanalyst ANECDOTE: She received the medal Hughes of the Royal Society.

Nettie Stevens (1861 - 1912) She was a American geneticist. ANECDOTE: She was the first person to discover the chromosomal bases.
Florence Bascom (1862 - 1945 ) She was a American geologist. ANECDOTE: She was the second woman to obtain the doctorate in geologist and the first to received a doctorate in the university Johns Hopkins. Rachel Carson (1907-1964) She was a American philosopher. ANECDOTE:She published her first story at the age of 11. When she began her secondary studies she registered in English but soon, in 1928, she moved to Biology. Dorothy Hodgkin (1910-1994) She was a Egyptian crystallography. Hedy Lamarr (1914-2000) She was a Austrian art and actress. ANECDOTE:The film that led to success in 1932, could not be more controversial. Filmed in Czechoslovakia under the direction of Gustav Machaty, it was the first film to show the face of an actress.

Rosalind Franklin (1920-1958) She was a English biology.
