1.INTRODUCTION This project is about scientist women’s life around the world. Our English teacher gave us this idea and we found it very interesting, because women are not as recognized as men, if they discover something is not considered as valuable as if a man discovers it, if they do something wrong it is worse than if a man does it ...... In conclusion it is a very good idea to do this work to learn about gender equality .
These are the steps we followed: First, We searched for
information about “women in science”: when they were born, when they died, their
nationality, anecdotes of their lives and quotes in books and through the web and we took notes.
Second, each of us did an individual Drive document with the information we found.
Then, we looked for some anecdotes and quotes by those scientist women.
After that, we placed the scientists’ countries in a world map
Finally, When we had all the work done and corrected the draft, we opened a presentation document in "Drive", the neat final document and the group work started.
-TEAM WORK First, all the participants in the group had to write out their scientists to a new document.
After all the members of the group finished the draft, with all the information about the scientists, we designed a cover page and wrote the index, the introduction and the conclusion as well as the bibliography. We added some photos and the maps in the draft and finally we organized the neat copy.
Finally, we explained our project in front of the group.
2. WOMEN IN SCIENCE
Merit Ptah (2700 b.C) She was an Egyptian doctor. She was the first woman known by her name in the history of medicine and also the first woman mentioned in the history of science.
HYPATIA OF ALEXANDRIA (355-415) She was an Egyptian mathematician and biochemist .
BÁRBARA MCCLINTOCK(1092-1992) She was an American scientist and cytogeneticist.
First woman to win a Nobel prize in medicine in solidarity. “I never thought of stopping , and i just hated sleeping .I can’t imagine having a better life”.
SOPHIA GERMAIN(1776-1931) She was a French mathematician, physicist and French philosopher. She received an award from the French academy. “Algebra is but written geometry and geometry is but figured algebra�
MARTHA COSTON(1826-1904) She was an American chemist. At 14 years she fell in love with a man who was 19 years older. "I hadn't been aware that there were doors closed to me until I started knocking on them."
TEMPLE GRANDIN(1847-) She is an American professor of animal sciences. Autistic scientist 2. “Nature is cruel , but we don’t have to be”.
MARIA E. BEASLEY(1847-1904) She was an American mechanics Engineering. The lifeboat that she invented was used in the titanic wreck. “Happiness in marriage is a matter of pure luck�.
Mary Kingsley (1862-1900) She was an American explorer. She was the queen of Africa. “West Africa today is just a quarry of paving stones for Hell ,and those stones were cemented in pace with�.
MARY ANDERSON(1866-1953) She was an American mechanic. She was a developer and a viticulturist. “Religion is the union of human beings for the common good�.
MARIE CURIE(1867-1934) She was a French physical. -She studied in a secret and illegal university. -Marie fainted from hunger. -She met the love of her life looking for a laboratory. -Her lab coat was her wedding dress. -She was the first woman in Solvay, a Belgian chemical company. “ In science we must be interesting in things , not in persons”. ”The best life is not the most lasting, but the one that is full of good works”.
Irène Joliot-Curie(1897-1954) She was a French physicist and a chemist. She was Marie Curie’s daughter.
”That one must do some work seriously and must be independent and not merely amuse oneself in life-this our mother [Marie Curie] has told us always, but never that science was the only career worth following”.
Maria Goeppert Mayer(1906-1972) She was a Pholish physics. She was the winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1963 for proposing the nuclear layer model. She was the second woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics after Marie Curie. �Mathematics began to seem too much like puzzle solving. Physics is puzzle solving, too, but of puzzles created by nature, not by the mind of man�.
Rachel Carson(1907-1964) She was an American ecologist . The woman who ended up with DDT and founded the “environmentalism”. “IN NATURE, NOTHING EXISTS ALONE”.
Chien - Shiung Wu(1912-1997) She was an American physicist. She demonstrated the equality force nuclear.
ANTONIA FERRĂ?N MOREIRAS(1914-2009) She was a Spanish mathematician, teacher and the first Galician astronomer. Indescribable scientist .
ADA LOVELACE(1915-1852) She was a British mathematician. She was the first programmer. “That brain of mine is something more that merely mortal , as time will show�.
MARÍA DE LOS ÁNGELES ALVARIÑO(1916-2005) She was an Spanish oceanographer, zoologist and Spanish teacher.
Gertrude Belle Elion(1918-1999) She was a American doctor and a biochemist. She received a nobel prize for her discoveries of the first development and treatment of medicine.

Marie Tharp (1920-2006) She was a American geologist . She gave light and color to the ocean floor. “I was so busy making maps I let them argue, there's truth to the old cliche that a picture is worth a thousand words and that seeing is believing�.
Rosalind Franklin(1920-1958) She was a British chemist and x-ray crystallographer.

MARIA INMACULADA PAZ-ANDRADE(1928-) She is a Spanish scientist. She was the first professor of the Compostela faculty of Physics and a reference in microcalorimetry.
VALENTINA TERESHKOVA(1937-) She is a Asiatic cosmonaut . First woman astronomer. “HELLO HEAVEN, REMOVE THE HAT, I AM ON THE ROAD!”.
MARGARITA SALAS(1938-) She is a Spanish biochemist . She received insults for being a woman.
VALERIE THOMAS (1943-) She is an American astronomer, “ENJOY THE SMALL THINGS OF LIFE, BECAUSE ONE DAY, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO LOOK BACK, AND REALIZE THAT THE GREAT THINGS WERE THERE”
SARA SEAGER(1971) She is astrophysicist. She looks for alien life. “Were getting closer and closer to finding a habitable world�.
Maryan Mirzakhani (1977-2017) She was a Iranian mathematician. First woman to win the FIELDS medal. “Drawing scrawls helps to stay connected to the problem�.
SAMANTHA CRISTOFORETTI (1977-) She is an Italian astronomer. She showed us life in space. “Only 1 out of 10 cells in your body is actually human”.
Merritt Moore (1988-) She is a American physicist and a dancer . She Discovered how to change the state of molecules. “IN TOUCH WITH THE SKY WHEN MY KNEES HIT THE GROUND”.

4. CONCLUSION In this project we highlight the importance of scientific women in the world. After doing the project and watch the movie , we can arrive to the following conclusions: -The women have the same intelligence than the men. -In the past, scientific women were not given the same importance as men And the most important is that thanks to this project we learned we learned that we must give the same importance to both women and men , because we are all equal and we have the same rights
