1.Introduction

In this project we are going to talk about “War Game”.This is a photograph that was taken by Gervasio Sanchez in 1993. 2.Observation Skills

In this photograph we see kids, destroyed cars and buildings. The members of the group have different opinions about this photograph: Jesús and Noelia think that before taking the photograph maybe there was a war and many kids lost their family. Alexis thinks that these boys came to the scrapping because they don’t have other places to play. Sabela thinks that they are looking for their friends that were lost on a war. We think that the subject of the picture are all kids and the destruction, and in front of the subject there are destroyed cars, it looks like a scraping. Behind the subject we see destroyed buildings and maybe there can be a river, we think that because we can see a bridge. And the photographer is in front of the subject. We have different opinions about what happened before and after the photograph was taken: 2.1Alexis: I think that these boys went to the scrapping because there was a war and because of this the parks were destroyed. And after of the

photograph was taken I think that the boys went out of this place because It isn’t a secure place . 2.2Noelia: I think before the photograph was taken maybe there was a war. I think that because I see the destruction in the cars and in the buildings too. Maybe the kids lost their families and their homes in the war. And after the photograph was taken the kids continued playing and thinking about the war.

2.3Jesús: I think that before the photograph was taken there was a war because I can see a lot of destruction, and after that, the kids went on playing. 2.4Sabela: I think that before the picture was taken there was a war, and after the war, the kids went to explore the rests of the destroyed things that the war caused. They went in group, until they realized the lack of a friend. Then, they started looking for their lost friend.

3.Characters The kids are wearing the typical clothes that a poor child usually wears and maybe they have not much money. They are standing, some are jumping and others are walking. Their expression is sad, but not everyone has the same attitude. We think that they are between 8 and 12 years old. Maybe this picture was taken about ten years ago.

4.Building technical knowledge The photographer took the photograph near, and he used the black and white colours. We think that he was in front of theme. He is watching the image from below and looking up, it gives an impression of inferiority. The light is natural, soft, diffused and we think that the light comes from the sun. We think that it is not bright but it isn’t dark either. The members of the group have different opinions about the light: Jesús and Sabela think that it is dark, but Alexis and Noelia think that it is light.

5.Framing & Cropping: The picture frame includes buildings, destroyed cars and many kids playing. On the left of the image there is a tree. We think that because we can see some leaves. The photographer cropped the image to draw our attention to the kids.

6.Photographer The photographer is Gervasio Sánchez, he was born in Córdoba (Spain) in 1959 and he was graduated in 1984 in journalism. He took the photograph in Sarajevo (Bosnia) in november 1993. 7.Conclusion: Some things about the image are as we thought, but others are different. We learned how to analyze an image and search for information about it. Alexis : I think that it was an interesting project and I

am satisfied with the members of my group. I learned to analyze images better.

Noelia : I think that this is a good project in which to

work because we see images every day but we don’t look at them critically or search for any meaning in it. And I think that we did the project the best way we knew.

Jesús : When I knew who the components of my group were, I became disillusioned because I had

never worked with them except for Alexis. But finally, it was great, because all of us finished our part. Sabela: I think that in the project we learned a lot

about the photograph and that is good because I like it. I had no problem with any of my classmates.
