● Introduction Our project is about the status of women in Israel and the improvement of women. The photo tries to show how women’s life is in this type of country.

● The photographer We think that the photographer is a woman because she tries to show the different difficulties of the women in this type of countries (for instance they can’t drive, they can’t show their face to anyone apart from their husband…). The photographer was sitting on the chair when she took the photo. The photographer took the photo in front of the woman and she did it near her. The photographer chose to take the photo sat on the chair and took it far from her, to compare her position in relation to the rest of the group.

○ Biography Yahya Efran was born in Ghazni and he works in Nasirkhosraw higher education institute. He studied in Kabul University (Chaman, Kabol, Afghanistan) and in Sanayee high school (Tehran, Iran). Currently lives in Nily Afghanistan. He likes sport teams.

● Observation Skills The picture shows a girl on the floor. He has a baby in his arms and a lot of papers. He is wearing a black jacket, a white trouser, a black shoes and a blue veil. On the background we can see a lot of people sitting on the chairs. Even farther away we can see an ancient building.I think the girl is between 20 and 30 years old. The building has a lot of old windows. The wall is painted with red and white colours, its very dirty. All the girls are wearing a veil. The floor is made of sand. They are doing an exam and they are wearing poor clothes.

● Technical Knowledge ○ Lighting The lighting is natural. The light is coming from our left and it is dark. It is soft and diffuse. The photo is clear. The lighting catches our attention because the light is neither very intense nor very soft. The mood created is tired since they are doing an exam. The lighting indicates that it is about midday.

○ Framing The picture frame includes the girl and some students. We imagine that outside it, there could be more students and the other part of the school. The photographer chose to frame the image this way to focus on the girl and her schoolmates’ backs. The clipping in the graphic composition has the effect of highlighting the most important part of the photograph.

○ Cropping The cropping helps to draw attention focusing more on the girl and on the background than on what is happening around her. The crop affects the framing of the most important part of the photograph.

● Context The purpose used in the photo is to know the girl’s story. The photographer wants to take the photo so that the people can know what she had to do in order to both finish the exam and take care of her baby. We think this photo was taken on 21 March 2018. Another artist who works in this period is Antonio Pampliega. The photo transmits us the vulnerability of women in poor countries, with wars, little developed… The impact of this photo is the woman carrying the baby. The photo makes us feel that there is a lot of inequality between women and men, since women have few possibilities, they have to cover their faces… This work helps us think how the author is inspired to take the photo. We can see some symbols in this photograph baby The meaning of these symbols is that the woman has to take care of the baby while doing an exam when we do not see it every day, since it is very unlikely that a girl has a baby at those ages. We think this photo hasn’t got any metaphor.

● Meaning She is a girl that is going to have an exam (between 20 and 25 years old) and she brings her baby because she doesn't have a place to leave her/him. When she is doing the exam the child starts to cry, then she wants him to stop crying so as not to bother her schoolmates. Then she hides behind a chair, to breastfeed the baby and she continues to do the exam. In the end the girl passes the exam and goes on with her ordinary life.

● Conclusion Thanks to this project we have learned how women’s life is in these countries and how they face it.The easiest part of the project is the lighting and the hardest the framing and cropping.
