Poem: Crossing the Bar by Alfred Tennyson Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out the sea. But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark; For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crossed the bar.

Group’s Opinion: We feel identified with this poem because sometimes, we also go to the bars at night to have a good time together after a long week of school

19

Personal opinions: -Sofía’s opinion: I chose this poem because it talks about happiness when the night comes. The poet goes to the bar to have a good time after a long day working and I also do that with my friends at the weekend. (verse 4) Here there are parts that talk about the sea and boats. -Nerea’s opinion: In the first paragraph the author talks about how he can rest at the end of the day. The third paragraph explains that the night is beautiful and the end of the day isn't bad. I chose this poem because I like the way of talking about the night and the sea as something beautiful. -Yanedt’s opinion: The poem is about the sea and a person who travels by boat. The first paragraph explains the waves and the sounds of the sea. Then, the author explains that the character in the poem sails and he does not want anybody to feel sad.I like this poem because it is about a ship trip and the author explains his feelings about the sea. The verses nine and ten are about the author feelings. 20

Conclusion: In this project we learned how to analyze poems and write about our feelings. Also we learned differents forms and techniques to write poems as for example Haikus, Acrostics, Calligrams... We wrote a lot of different poems and it was great fun. We also identify ourselves with the poem because at nights we go to the bar and meet our friends.
