Introduction In this project, we are going to talk about The Green Mile. We are going to analyse the poster, the trailer and some characters of the film… In the poster we will analyse the different information that we can read and see. In the trailer we are going to talk about the scenes that film producers chose to create the trailer, then we will write a dialogue based on the quote “People hurt the ones they love. That's how it is all around the world” that John Coffey says. And in some characters we will analyse their behavior, the importance that they have... We chose this film because we watched the trailer and it looked very interesting.
Information about the film This film is an American fantasy crime drama movie from 1999 written and directed by Frank Darabont and adapted from a Stephen King novel written in 1996. His production company is Castle Rock Entertainment. S et in the south of the United States, in the middle of Depression. This movie tells the story of a security guardian, Paul Edgecomb.
Synopsis The film is about a jail of the 1930`s, in this jail there are some prisoners condemned to die. It narrates the story of Paul Edgecomb in the southern United States, in the middle of a depression when he had a urine an infection. This story has a flashback
because it starts when Paul Edgecomb is old and from that moment he tells the story to his friend Elaine Connelly. He was a guard, in The Green Mile and supervised the executions of the prisoners. It was called The Green Mile and takes place in the year
1935. One day, a huge black man, John Coffey, arrived. Supposedly, he had killed two girls. In jail, the jailers realized that he had powers, so he could cure diseases, infections and even resuscitate small animals. He said he wanted to undo the evil.

The characters Eduard Delacroix Eduard Delacroix is a character represented in the movie by Michael Jeter, is a French prisoner sentenced to death penalty but the crime is not mentioned, he is not a problematic prisoner. During the beginning of the movie Delacroix wears prison clothes and he is all the time in his cell, this causes that he looks skinny, as if like he was hungry. Delacroix meets a friend, but not a friend, it is a little mouse who lives in the prison, it is told that Delacroix can control the little mouse. Delacroix becomes more important during the film, at the beginning he almost didn’t talk but when he met the mouse it becomes more important. The actor did a good role in the movie. He and his pet are very important especially at the moment when Delacroix is assassinated.
Percy Wetmore Percy Wetmore is cruel and he is a jailer thanks to his family who have prestige. He is always wearing the uniform. He is smaller and less strong than his companions. He is cruel because he is aggressive. Actions like making one of the prisoners die with more pain or killing the mouse represent their characteristics. He is represented in a realistic way. He represents the idea of evil. It allows me to judge the characters` bad actions. The character is conscious and credible. He does not change but John Coffey condemns him for all the evil he did causing him to kill another prisoner who was bad and they lead Percy to jail.

John Coffey My character is called John Coffey and this is the man that is a convict because the policemen think that he was killed two girls. He has dark eyes and he is a strong and robust man. He wears jail clothes. As I said at the beginning he is a convict and I think that is really reason why he has a strong character.
Paul Edgecomb Paul Edgecomb is a main characters, intelligent and respect all people. Paul is the narrator who tells us the story from his point of view. He told the story when is older and is in a residence with her friend Elaine Connelly. He is of normal stature and physique. He has a guard and supervised the executions of the prison. In 1935 he had a urine infection. Paul earned the respect of the prisoners. Paul is the person responsible for the prison. At first, he just does his job well, but them he ends up trusting those who are supposedly guilty and he takes them affection, doing something wrong doesn’t make you a bad person.

The poster (analysis) This
poster
conveys
an
ambient
of
loneliness so it transmits responsibility from the security guards. G It also intimidates for the colors that are used. It is designed with the main character that
is the most important element in the poster
We can see that Paul, the principal protagonist of the movie, is in the usual guard
uniform,
in
the
centre.
The
background is dark too but in the bottom right corner we see two people, the guard and the prisoner John Coffey. They are walking towards a door, where there is a light. These people are so diffuse and we think that they are Paul's memories. At the
bottom of the poster we can see the title of the movie.
The trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ki4haFrqSrw
In the trailer we can see the prison where Paul works and where they execute the prisoners. It shows us the execution of one prisoner and those executions took place at 10 o’clock. One prisoner tells that if you think a man sincerely repents on what
he’s done wrong, he could go back to the time that was happiest. After that he tells
us that John Coffey has been condemned to die in the electric chair. The productors want to let us know that John is a sensitive man because he is afraid of the dark at
night. Paul thinks that John is not a violent man. We can see all the prisoners working the land with some picks. The people think that John Coffey is the killer of
two poor girls but Paul doesn’t think he did it at all. The film scenes that appear before, are very sad because in them we can see a police on the floor bleeding out and it also appears a woman who is dying. We can see too when John and Paul shake hands and he feels John’s power. Paul tells that it is a miracle that it is not
5
given to a man who is capable of killing a child. Before, it appeared the woman that John Coffey saved and she says that she had dreamed about him. Before, he also
said that the miracles are rare things and that you don’t know who can get through but if they happen in a place like that, this is the most incredible miracle of all. In the end of the trailer, Paul appears, moving away on a kind of light and says that this is a story of a miracle.
Dialogue https://tinyurl.com/y3reggtw
- Narrator: 10 o’clock, Paul keep organising prisoner curriculums at home. - Jan: Paul, I think that you should take a break. - Paul: I can’t, tomorrow William won’t go to work. - Jan: Okey, if you don’t have time for me, I don’t have time for you. - Paul: But… I’m working… - Jan: I’m working, I’m working... You are always working. - Paul: Jan… - Jan: No, if you don’t spend more time with me, I am gonna take measures… - Paul: But Jan…
- Narrator: Jan left Paul’s office and Paul, surprised, kept doing her work. - Narrator: Next day, Paul, sad, entered into the prison. - Paul: Hello boys, today is not a good day to work for me… - Brutus: What happened Paul?
- Paul: Jan, my wife, left me last night… - Brutus: Really? Why? I saw you very well last day. - Paul: We discussed …and Jan got annoyed...
- Narrator: after listening to the conversation, John Coffey said : - John Coffey: People hurt the ones they love. That's how it is all around the world.
Conclusion In this project, we learned to analyse a film and to work in groups. We watched a film, it taught us important values like tolerance to other races. We learned too that you can’t judge people without proof because at the end you always discover the truth, for example when John Coffey teaches the police that he is innocent through
6
his powers. and we think it is a beautiful film. We loved it. In this film we learned that many times the innocent are condemned by the bad actions of others too.
