1.Introduction In this project we are going to talk about human rights, in particular about the right ‘no torture’. We are going to be a human rights defender, we are going to travel to Colombia to defend this right. Human rights are laws that approves liberties to all humans, for the guarantee of a worthy life. The rights were approved by the UNO in 1948. We choose this right because we think that nobody has to be tortured and in many countries people don’t accomplish this right.
2.Human rights The right of ‘no torture’ “ No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. ” There are thirty human rights, that all the countries have to accomplish, but in many countries they don’t do that. This right is being violated for all types of people from politicians to ordinary citizen s . For example, the death penalty is a torture that is legal in countries like the
United States of America. Another example: In Somalia, if you steal, the legislation says that your punishment is going to be to have that
you right-hand and your left leg are cut. This
happens
in eastern
countries. The countries where this right isn’t respected are: China, Cuba, USA, Colombia, Congo... totally eighty one countries. We choose this right because it’s unfair that politicians permit that in eighty one countries people are
subjected to tortures and inhuman
treatments. In Colombia the right of no torture keeps on being violated, also other rights are violated. The Colombia Coalition says that almost two thousand people are tortured in Colombia and one thousand of these people
are
being murdered. In Spain there are only 252 cases of
tortures. Generally women, a familiar or a friend denounced the
torture
case , because in the most part of torture cases the batters are the women, and she doesn't dare to denounced for scary at they boyfriend.
Movies on tortures : ‘’La noche más oscura’’ - ‘’The darkest night’’ ‘’El colector’’ - ‘’The collector’’ ‘’El infierno verde’’ - ‘’The green inferno’’ ‘’Los renegados del diablo’’ - ‘’The Devil's Rejects’’ ‘’Grotesco’’ - ‘’Grotesque’’
Books on tortures ‘’El museo de los suplicios’’ - ‘’The museum of their ordeals’’ ‘’Barra siniestra’’ - ‘’Sinister bar’’ ‘’Lágrimas de hielo’’ - ‘’Tears of ice’’ ‘’Muñecas rotas’’ - ‘’Broken dolls’’ ‘’Contra el bullying’’ - ‘’Against the bullying’’ A n ONG who fights for the right of ‘no torture’ The OMCT. We don’t find a person who fights for this human right.
3.CONCLUSION Raquel’s opinion: I think that this right must be respected in all the world and for all type of people, because it is something very basic, and no one deserves to be tortured. It’s very unfair that people die, or lose a hand or a leg, for stealling . In this project I think that I learned so much about the humans
rights, and it’s very interesting.
Ainara’s opinion: I think that these rights must be respected by all the people all over the world, because no one has to be tortured or mistreated and no one has the right to ill-treatment by the people. My opinion about the project is that it is very interesting. I knew that human rights had been violated but didn’t know that I had so many cases you ill-treatment, homeless people and a lot of rights that are violated.
