1. Introduction Paul Cézanne was an artist who was born in France (1839) and he died of pneumonia (1906). He painted modern painting. He had few friends. In life he was an unknown painter, and until 1895 he only exposed his paintings occasionally. We choose this painting because we think that the project would be interesting and it was the one that we liked the most.

2. Description. a. Formal analysis In this painting we can see two men who are playing cards in a room.The man on the left is wearing a brown hat, a brown raincoat, a white shirt and beige trousers. This man has short black hair. He has a moustache, the same color as his hair. He has red (colour) cheeks, big ears and a big nose. This man has a pipe in the mouth. The pipe is white. He has normal hands. In his hands he has a pack of cards. He is sitting in an old chair. The man on the right is wearing a brown hat, a beige raincoat, a white shirt and brown trousers. He has blonde hair and a moustache. In the picture (the man on of the right) He is taller than the other man.


b. Formal qualities This painting belongs to the post­impressionist era. It is characterized by an expressive use of the color and a big formal freedom. He wanted to highlight the qualities of his painting drawing landscapes, animals, organisms, etc.

c. Self interpretation. We think that this painting is voc very dark. In the room there is low light. 3. The story behind “The card players”. This painting is the most expensive one in of the world. Paul Cézanne, first, draw three card players and other people around the table looking. Then, he painted two versions diferents. In the second version he extracted someone people. Finally, he decided make a version, he draw two peasants in a play table with a bottle of wine. Before doing the final version, the painter drew five paintings.

4. Conclusion. 4.1 Javier’s conclusion. My conclusion of this project is that the artworks can be so expensive. I learned how to analyse an artwork and look at from an objective point of view. 4.2 Marcos’s conclusion. My conclusion is that i learned to analyze this picture. This project is very interesting because I​ ​ learned a lot of things that i didn't know. In addition, it seemed to me a good evaluation because i worked with this group. 4.3 Inés’s conclusion: My conclusion is that I learned to analyze a painting and also to discovered​ ​ that the paintings also have a story behind. Also I discovered as the people can pay a lot of money for buy one of this paintings.
