1)Introduction: In this project, we are going to explain what this book is about and we are going to tell our opinion about it.

2) First opinion: Xiao: When I saw “The red tree” cover page, I thought “This book will

be so boring”. I thought this because the cover page is sad and the title doesn’t help to understand the cover page message. Alba: I when I saw the book at first sight, gave me the look that could be boring and sad, dark colors, season, autumn, fallen leaves and the protagonist on the cover this as sad, friendless and alone. Ainara: When I saw the cover of the book,

I thought it was boring because the first impression was a book bored and sad. The colors were dark, the girl was sad, alone and had no hope, and the image was sad. By the first impression I not buy it.

3) Book’s description.

a)Author: The author of “The Red Tree” is Shaun Tan . He wrote this book and he also drew the images of the book.

Shaun Tan was born in 1974 in the country of Australia. He writes books for kids and draws the illustrations.

b) Analysing. The place is confused. In the page s 1 and 2 we can see the girl in her bedroom, but after that, the places look like imaginary places. This

story

could

happen

anytime,

because it could have happened in the past, it could happen in the future or now. The only character, the protagonist, is a little girl. This girl is sad, because she

only smiles at the end. She is small and young, and her hair is orange. She wears a purple dress and purple slippers.

There is another “character”: a red leaf. This leaf appears in all pages. We think that this leaf represents the girl’s hope. This book tells the story of a little girl that is sad, alone, lost…

This girl is so sad, but she always has the little hope that the world can change, and be a funny world, not the depressing world that she knows. Things go from bad to worse, but, when all hope is gone, when the day seems

to

end the

way it began.

However, when it seems to have lost all illusion there it is, right in front of her, it appears without waiting, mysterious and bright, the hope. Just as she had imagined it would be.

4) Conclusion. a) After reading the book: Xiao: After reading this book, my opinion changed: I think that this book has many secrets that only you can discover if you read this book calmly. Alba: My opinion after reading the book is that it was a picture of

sadness because it had dark colors, muted and the protagonist of this story was always alone, but the funny thing is that he accompanied a red leaf and a snail. I think the snail represents the days that pass and that red leaf gives you the hope that you have. Ainara: After reading the book, my opinion changed. I found the meaning

of the images and I understood what the book wants to tell. After all, the book was not so boring, because every time you try to find a meaning to the photos and you look and read the text over and over again before you discover things that you couldn’t see or didn’t know that they were out there.

b) Project’s conclusion We think that the purpose of this project is to use our imagination to discover the true significance of this book. We liked to do this project because the book teaches us to never lose hope. That there is always hope, and you should think that one day your life is going to change and you are going to be happy.
